  • In case you're wondering, yes, you can transfer ebooks directly to any Kobo device using a normal computer, your ebooks don't have to come from the Kobo store itself. Unlike the Amazon Kindle, Kobo is an open platform and that's what I love about it.

Help! When I transfer epub from laptop to my Kobo, will they be also uploaded to Kobo Cloud? Will my bookmarks, highlights, and notes be also synced? Remember I prefer to ebooks from my laptop, not those that I purchased from Kobo store. Pls someone answer.

Hi Amanda. Thanks for the comment.
First of all, your Kobo e-reader doesn't require any special software to transfer ebooks. You just connect it to a computer like you would a normal hard drive/SSD or USB key, whereupon it will automatically be recognized as an external drive. When connected via the USB port, the Kobo will display the following message:
      "Computer detected
Would you like to connect your eReader to your computer to manage files?"
Simply press "Connect" and you're good to go.
Once the Kobo is connected to your computer, transferring ebooks is just a matter of copying and pasting the .epub files inside the device's root folder.
I hope this helps. If not, I can make another video about it explaining in further detail.

Thank you for your reply, this seems straightforward enough.
What I would like to know is from where you downloaded the book (which website) and how and where you save it in order to transfer to the ereader.

I buy/download ebooks from multiple sources, all of which offer DRM-free options. No DRM is a must for me, I don't like being restricted; if I buy something, I want to own it. To be honest, the whole topic of where to purchase ebooks deserves a video on its own. I'll make a new and updated comprehensive guide to digital reading sometime in the future but let's say there's a lot of ground to cover...
As for your second question, I save my ebooks on a separate SSD for ease of access. I don't use any cloud storage because I don't know what these companies do with my personal data.
That being said, below are some of my favourite resources for digital reading (not an exhaustive list, just the ones I can think of off the top of my head).
      [Humble Bundle]
www.humblebundle.com/books (new ebooks on a specific theme every 2 weeks!)
      [Packt Pub]
      www.packtpub.com (tech/programming)
      [Project Gutenberg]
www.gutenberg.org (ugly interface but contains many jewels and completely free!)
      [Standard ebooks]
standardebooks.org (completely free and contains classics like "Walden" by Henry David Thoreau or "At The Mountains of Madness" by H.P. Lovecraft)
      [StoryBundle]
      storybundle.com

Thank you so much for your reply its much appreciated.
For someone like me who's not very technical about downloading, saving to the device and a backup else where a detailed step by step guide is very useful.
Please a seperate video on sites where to buy and download would be very useful.
      Thanks again for your help.

Hi there. Yes, it works! If you log in to your OverDrive account on your Kobo, the content stored in your Libby account will become available on your device.

from Egypt ... Hello .... how we can put new font for kobo

    • @jerdef82
      @jerdef82  Год назад +3

Hi! Thanks for the comment. You need to create a new folder called "fonts" in the root folder of your device (if you do not have this yet). Once it's done, you can simply drag and drop your .ttf or .otf files into said folder. Kobo e-readers support both formats. I hope this helps.
