  • GEMTECH Suppressors has announced their newest silencer - the Modular Lunar 9. The modular Lunar 9 allows end users to convert it from a full size 7″ configuration to a shorter 4.7″ configuration while remaining hearing safe.
    GEMTECH Modular Lunar 9
    Lane Tobiassen, President, had this to say following the launch:
    There are a growing number of manufacturers introducing firearms with threaded barrels designed to support the attachment of a suppressor. Threaded barrel pistols and pistol caliber carbines have become popular options for use with suppressors, and we have designed a high quality, innovative, reliable, versatile suppressor that offers great sound reduction.
    GEMTECH’s product page indicates the suppressor meters at 129dB in the long configuration, and 135dB in the short configuration when fired on a Gen 4 Glock 17.

    James, when you test this please try it out with shortening the suppressor and making it a mini like you asked the rep about. Would love to see the difference it makes in the sound. Have been very curious about super short suppressors. O, your awesome by the way!!!!!

    Hopefully one day we can pass the HPA and get suppressors off the NFA. That will hopefully bring the cost down on these. There is no reason a suppressor should cost as much or more than your middle tier handgun.

    • @RadDadisRad
      @RadDadisRad 4 года назад +2

      There is no reason a suppressor should even be on a list. It should be considered PPE and required for safety. The fact that some shithead government agency can ban safety equipment shows how much our government cares for the people.

    • @bp968
      @bp968 4 года назад +1

      @@alexglenn2122 thats absolutely true about machining but I believe the 3d printing process for titanium is falling in price quickly. I think it wil end up being a factor of how much they can lower the price on the "filament" or titanium "base" or powder that the 3d process uses (because last time i checked the titanium powder you had to use was still pretty pricey but that was 5+ years ago now).

    Why are suppressors still so loud we gotta pay a tax stamp for $200 for something that only removes around 25 db and being 125 db after you put on a suppressor is still over 80 db and 80 db is considered dangerous for your ears. The weapon with a suppressor is still 2 times louder then a washing machine or 2 to 3 times louder then a vacuum cleaner.

    Advice for folks looking to buy a 9mm suppressor. Consider buying a suppressor for .45ACP with options for pistons that will permit you to use it with 9mm. Why? Because after you use it with 9mm you will be disappointed, then you can use it with .45ACP and you will enjoy shooting your handgun suppressed. Even subsonic 9mm ammo is going to be much louder than .45ACP.

    • @thatonetexan1950
      @thatonetexan1950 4 года назад +4

      I'd rather have a can specifically made for 9mm than a .45, because .45 is a terrible round and I would never own one.

    • @magnanimus9692
      @magnanimus9692 4 года назад +1

      There's more to the decision to go with a dedicated 9mm suppressor. For example, 9mm suppressors can be shorter un overall length than their 45 caliber counterparts.

    • @pault.mccain6637
      @pault.mccain6637 4 года назад

      @@magnanimus9692 Of course, I'm simply saying people looking for a "quiet" 9mm are going to be disappointed. They are great fun, no doubt. I have and use one with my Glocks in 9mm, but the best suppressed handgun experience I've had is the HK MK23 suppressed, and other .45ACPs suppressed, using heavy 45ACP rounds

    • @thatonetexan1950
      @thatonetexan1950 4 года назад

      @@pault.mccain6637 If .45 is really so great how come no modern military uses it in their standard issue sidearm? How come the majority of police departments in the US have standardized on 9mm? 9mm is superior to .45 because of its low recoil impulse, small size, and deadly lethality. With full sized 9mm handguns not only do you get more than twice the capacity than full sized .45's, but you get a much softer shooting and easier to shoot firearm and they are almost always smaller and lighter than .45s. Please, do some research before you post stupid comments about something you obviously know nothing about.
