  • In this sound test comparison, we metered the Revolution 9, the first modular pistol silencer on the market, alongside the Rugged Suppressors Obsidian9 and the Gemtech Lunar 9 using the same host firearms and ammunition.
We omitted .300 Blackout Subsonic testing in this video due to the lack of availability of an adapter and fixed barrel spacer for the Gemtech Lunar 9.
For a full rundown of the B&K Pulse metering equipment used and the testing procedure, please refer to our "Introduction to Sound Testing" video available here:
    • Introduction to Sound ...
We also produced an episode of our podcast, The Dwell Time Podcast, going in-depth on the B&K pulse system, our testing procedure, and experiences with it so far. The podcast can be found on all popular streaming platforms as well as through our website.

Bought my Revo 9 back in December of 2019, just got approved two weeks ago. Still waiting on my stamp, can't wait to get it out to the range

Man, I'm glad I saw this, bought the rev 9 almost a year ago, waiting on my tax stamp. Good to know I made the right choice. Edit: now I'm like a damn child waiting for Christmas day....

Nice work, thanks. The shooter is going to need to change out his blinker fluid very shortly. :)

Can you do a side by side comparison of the weight/diameter/length of each cans?

Just received my Rev9 stamp a couple days ago. Glad I went with it. To be honest the Obsidian seems maybe a "tad" quieter in full length but the Rev9 is no doubt the best in K config which is what I'll use most of the time. The build quality is excellent too.

Thanks for the vid! Looking for a can for my MPX, however want to buy a 45 silencer for the versatility. Will the Revolution 45 provide more reduction on the 9mm than the 9 version? Not sure how that works. Thx.

So at the ear, where it really matters, all 3 cans are essentially the same. In the K configuration, I think it is slightly jaded... as your K configuration looks a tad longer anyway. Would love to see the compare versus something like a CGS Kraken or other cans known to be quiet.

An 8 and 5 dB difference in the K configuration is not "essentially the same"... not by anyone's metric. This comparison is done to a known standard with consistent conditions, ammo, setup, etc. not a test run with softball ammo and no video of results. Performance claims by cgs without any type of verification (a video or something) don't really make them relevant.

@@GriffinArmamentOfficial i am talking about in the full configuration which i venture to say most are shooting the majority of the time. What is the sizendifference in the k config?

@@SlavGuns For what it's worth, long cans get really old. The k config on the revolution is, in my opinion, the perfect crossover size and balance between length, diameter, and sound suppression for both pistols and sub guns. Shorter than 6" is MUCH louder and longer than 7.5" is MUCH more cumbersome. I leave my revolution 9 in K config as its quiet and compact and my Obsidian 9 in long config as it's short is quite loud by comparison. For sub guns, the Omega 9k is the ticket.

How is it that the Rev9 "K" configuration performed better the the full configuration of ALL 3, including itself?

    • @Ellopez05

Did you see the chart? It was at 134 and 137 in K config. Higher than all the others in full config.

Is this the rev 9 mod 3 being tested, or the older style?

It is interesting that the revolution performed better in the K configuration, any thoughts as to why?

    • @09cjonescj

It did better at the ear, not the muzzle, which I assume is due to less back pressure=less gas coming out of port (because more came out at muzzle). But as is obvious with the other two cans, that difference isn’t usually so dramatic that it’s that much quieter at than ear vs longer config. Interesting to say the least. Possibly the latter baffles in the extended portion are more restrictive (ie tighter bore) than the early baffles in the K config portion of the can? Probably done on purpose? I’m just spitballing.

The rev in k configuration is definitely longer than the obsidian for sure so that'll take some volume away. I have an obsidian 9 and it's a wonderful can.

    • @09cjonescj
      @09cjonescj 4 года назад +1

Scott468 no doubt man I thought about adding that fact. I was responding to what I assume was their pointing out that the rev was quieter at the ear in K versus ITS OWN long config. Not between the two cans. And pointed out that the other two were not quieter in their respective K vs full length configs @ ear.
The obsidian is stupid sturdy for an aluminum tube, and Rugged’s customer service if so good it’s almost silly; some of us are unlucky enough to find these two things out at the same time

I think the K at ear figure is wrong. It's way out of line with all the other figures.

Is the Revolution 9 full auto rated for 300 BLK subsonic or only 9mm?
