Traditional grip is a ridiculous, unnatural, inefficient 'technique' still plaguing the drum community. Yeah, i know some great drummers still use it but that doesn't make it right.
Traditional grip does make sense in the way it originated from the days of marching drums, where match grip wouldn't work due to the angle of the drum on the leg. That's how I started in HS but changed to match grip on drum sets which felt more natural for me. I think those drummers who start and stayed w traditional grip can do everything a match grip player can. Except 'hammer drumming' but that's what PA systems are designed for.

Remember how the traditional grip started, so it is understandable, but using it nowadays is ridiculous.
