- In this episode, Sherri and Chelsi discuss their new fabric collection, Laguna Sunrise. They discuss the inspirations behind this fabric line and talk about how it mixes and matches well with many of their previous fabric lines, including Strawberry Lemonade. They also share news about a new book they are releasing with Fat Quarter Shop, Family Favorites. One of Chelsi's quilts in this book will be featured in an upcoming sew-along. Laguna Sunrise is expected to ship to quilt shops in September 2024.

I really enjoy watching and listening to your family. I love the Laguna Sunrise. I'm so glad you talked about the inspiration and names of your fabric line as I kept thinking these names sound like they are from Orange County beaches, where I grew up and still love to go. I was able to get all the Strawberry Lemonade fabric for the Heart of the Home pattern but I had to go to 4 different online shops to get it. I had called Country Pines Quilt Shop in Susanville, California and they found the honey buns for me in Michigan by searching for 1 1/2” strips instead of honey buns. Quilters are such a generous community.

Love the Tulip and Vine pattern! So spring-ish and fresh. I like that you don't include novelty prints in your lines. That's a concrete thinking approach imo. I see the two of you as expressing a vibe through your color palettes and you are really so strong in this approach to your art - I love it. Impressionistic in a way, and modern. So of course I will preorder your book. Was excited to see Kimberly introduce it last week in her livestream.

Our skills improve with practice, and even the not so accurate work is evidence of our improvement. Keep up the good (and finished) work:)
So true! I look back at my beginning quilts-points cut off, seams too wide 🤣🤣-those kind of things. The years of learning is so apparent!

I know all of those cute Southern California beach towns and have been to each of them. We lived in Costa Mesa and went to Newport Beach all the time when our oldest were young. And if you keep heading south along the coast, you end up in Carlsbad where I grew up🥰 There’s nothing quite like the beach🌊 The Tulip and Vine quilt looks gorgeous and is my favorite too. Give me all the color🌈😍

I am so glad I bought so much Strawberry Lemonade, 1/2 yard bundle, fat quarter bundle, honey bun, jelly roll, layer cake and charm pack! Also bought 10 yards of the cheater hexie. I'm almost afraid to use it now! I did get the Botanical Remix kit, and that is partially quilted.

Speaking of obsessed, after discovering you, I also went to Etsy and several dealers to collect collections gone-by and got a bunch of yardage and several precuts, and I am still so thrilled by how much of it coordinates! I now have a lovely stash in my open wire square baskets, ready to be pulled for my upcoming planned projects.

Every collection you two bring out is perfection, I love the fact that I can mix pretty well any of your lines together and create something beautiful. OK you said you don’t do novelty BUT why not create just one line and call it California Dreaming. It could be a one off, so never say never …

Our local quilt shop owner won’t bring in orders when people ask for them, or do special orders as she says she’s been stuck with fabric to many times. She did bring in Strawberry lemonade I paid over $24 dollars a meter for it. 🇨🇦

Where do we get patterns
This is an industry question. It’s my understanding that fabric companies like Moda tell designers when they can reveal fabric lines to followers. I think you guys only revealed your new line about 2 weeks ago. Any idea why the reveal is so close to the ordering window closing? I kinda feel like there is a missed opportunity. Maybe it’s just my lack of industry knowledge.

I’m from Pennsylvania and I’m not sure how true this is but the Amish rumor is that all quilts should have a mistake. We are human and not perfect. Only god is perfect
