I ordered the Regal Pines quilt kit with Favorite Things material from Chelsi’s Etsy shop. My order came in today and I was absolutely blown away by the extras that were added to my order. I was like a kid in a toy store pulling out ALL THE THINGS. I won’t list what the prizes were but the fabric scraps in the bottom of the box were the icing! I am thrilled with my order and can’t wait to start the sew along. Thank you Chelsi for making my day fabulous! 🎉

You appear to have a wonderful relationship between the 3 of you, I so enjoy watching your interactions and the joyfulliness you show. It brings me such happiness to watch you all and gives me such a "Lift" to my day. If my day isn't going so great sometimes. I will go back and watch a past episode I've already seen (doesn't matter which one) and it will lift my spirits. I love your new fabric, it is a very happy feeling colour 🇨🇦palette.
I like that you have added a hanging quilt behind Billy, more options for us to see❤
I am very short so I have a bed with no feet so that my high box spring and mattress are the right height to be able to sit on the side of my bed. And with box springs and mattresses being so deep now, the box spring often peeks out from the quilt if I’m not careful. I don’t like having bedskirts as they’re too frilly or loose, so I use older fitted bedsheets that coordinate with the rest of the bed - if the quilt shifts a bit, the bed still looks coordinated. Hope that helps. The quilt does not need to be floor to floor.
    Thanks for your videos.

I love the new collection so much, and I'm just gaga over the quilt hanging behind you. This has to be ready to hang in my entry hall next spring. The color palette is my absolute fave. Billy, congrats! I have never hit a hole in one, although I came within a 12 inch putt on par 3s a number of times. I started golfing at 21 and I'm 74 now, so I think my days of longing for that holy grail experience are over lol. I find that using the planner to break down my sewing projects into achievable steps and then being able to reward myself by checking some off at the end of the day works for me. Rewards motivate for the next day's tasks..

I just wanted to suggest for the king bed quilt question. I use a white plain quilt on my bed and add different “quilt toppers” over the bed, changed each month. Also my sister had some antique quilts that were too small, she added a dust ruffle between the mattress and box springs to cover them. Today you can get the dust ruffle in a pleat or straight style if you do not want gathered ones. I so enjoy your Podcast, watch on RUclips, have watched every episode since 2020.

I love all your topics they always seem to make me think about my quilting journey in different ways. I was listening to this podcast and I wanted to share a new way I have started journaling my quilting projects and progress. I had recently stumbled onto some decorative planner RUclips videos and decided I wanted to use this method with my multiple quilting projects. I love playing with decorative stickers and enjoy journaling on fun decorated pages in my planner. I have also added journaling camping trips that my husband and I go on and fun family gatherings especially when my grandkids are visiting and I have “Camp Grandma”. I believe your fabric designs and quilts that you have made with them would make beautiful stickers.

Someone else already mentioned that Cotton is made from the cotton plant and Linen is made from flax, but I'll add that Linen has been used for centuries for it's durability and cooling properties. Fun fact, it's also anti-microbial. Great stuff. Probably because bed sheets were originally made from linen fabric, bedding came to be known as Linens.

Thank you thank you Sewfun! I ❤ linen! You can wash it of course and it will get softer and softer. It wrinkles more. Some like this , others don't like ironing ( I like it lol) If you do iron have the linen a bit damp. It will come out crisp and beautiful!

This must be said...I LOVE STRAWBERRY LEMONADE!!! I have said it on all social media, but am about to shout it from the roof tops! it is so beautiful!! I love your podcast. So listening to your podcasts have enabled me to find joy in an otherwise stressful situation. I don't even bother hollering at stupid drivers who don't know when to merge because i am engrossed in my podcast. Sherri, i love your book lists, and have read several of those you recommend. Chelsi..you are just a delight. And so artistic and talented. And Billy..the tech guy..you are the best. Way to go on the hole in one. I have a drafting chair i purchased off Amazon. It is comfortable, adjustable in height, the arms rotate up and out of the way, and it has a foot rest....it works great for sewing as well as just sitting at my raised cutting table. It was affordable and delivered quickly. Easy to put together as well. Highly recommend a drafting chair.!

Regarding how to cover this sides of a larger bed when the quilt is smaller: Bed skirts are designed to go between the mattress and box spring, so that the sheet and blanket will show at the bottom of the quilt. I made a bed skirt that hangs from the top of the mattress. That covers everything hanging down the side of the bed, so the smaller quilt with a very small drop will look okay.

As always I loved the podcast. You are all so wonderful and easy to listen to. I wanted to make a comment on the chair question. Getting a good ergonomic chair may be helpful. If you are someone who gets up a lot, think of someone in an office who may have run back and forth, they probably don't need arms on their chair. But, arms on a chair are good to rest the arms on our bodies, provided they are the correct height. The arms on an ergonomic chair can be raised or lowered as can the seat. These are great for short people, which I am on the short side. That being said, don't have arms on my chair. Also, if you're short and have to sit forward toward the edge of the chair, a pillow behind you can be very helpful to relieve low back pain. A regular bed pillow would work as it's taller than most throw pillows. Hope that helps. And I love the row quilt with the strawberries, so cute!

Your podcast just getting better and better. Billy is a big asset. Enjoy his take on things and the research he does for added information he gives. I enjoy research and detailed info. I have kept a photo book since I made my first quilt in 1997, at age of 47, (although have been a crafter for life) which gives details and who it was made for etc. I also collect antique quilts and have started giving them to my kids and those quilts are in photo album too with a record of where and when these are gifted. I also keep scrapbooks with pattern info, fabric samples, pics, etc of each quilt. My kids tease me that my quilts have scrapbooks.
I am so happy I started doing this and would encourage new quilters to do this, or start at any time. The info and history of these quilts is priceless to me and I hope future generations.

QUILT A KINGSIZE: Make your quilt creation in 3 pieces as follows:
2 sides , and 1 top including top to end / hangover end.
    Another suggestion:
    1 x top (withouthangover); 1x hangover portion at base; 2 x sides.
The above suggestion means making and quilting these sections individually, then join after quilting.

I have kids with multiple disabilities and they watch a lot of TV. To break up screen time I am starting to read to them. The goal is daily. I decided Encyclopedia Brown books are a good idea because you can read one mystery a day. As they get used to the routine, we can maybe try longer chapters.
I quilt as respite. It allows me to have time to decompress and breathe but still be at home with my kids.

Sherri I have one of those Needle Domes and have had it for years! I got it from JoAnns. I have my daughter thread the needles for me because I use a size 10 between needle. I have 3 domes and she will do all 30 at once.

You guys make me laugh. I don't know a soul in my family, kids family members, or even friends that piece/quilt. So, I am it. When it comes to making a quilt I have to enjoy the way it looks in order to sit down to make. I love making king size quilts, yes to do have to wrestle it in the place.

The Clover needle and thread holder you refer to on the video was in the Christmas box from MSQ LAST YEAR!! I’m going to take your hint and thread them for my hand sewn binding!
Congrats to Billy for the hole in one! You really should have bought the club a drink!! All of my family golf except me so I know the protocol ! They buy insurance for the hole in one cost🤷‍♀️

In reference to the lady that keeps her quilt records in a binder. I have a blank notebook; when I finish a quilt I write the date it was completed, the name of pattern and fabric line I used w/designer name, I write the dimensions and if I gift it I write that down as well. Sometimes I add quilt block info but you can add any other data you’d like, like the start date. I take a Polaroid picture and add it to the info section. The Polaroid doesn’t do it justice but it jogs the memory of the quilt for me. Sometimes I embellish the book with washi tape and add business cards, the cards that come with the fabric bundle or flyers for a quilt show or quilt shop I’ve visited. It’s like a journal. I usually have a half page per quilt.

A quick response to a question covered in this episode of "A Quilting Life." Linen is a woven fabric made from the flax plant. It can be densely woven or loosely woven. Its texture comes from how tightly the thread is spun. Tightly spun linen thread creates a smooth fabric but looser spun linen thread has more of a rough, textured feel.
However, there are many cotton prints available now that have a linen look. Linen prints provide a good texture/contrast for quilts.

I’ve always asked the retreat person what kind of chairs they have. If it’s a folding chair, I load up my own chair and bring it. That’s done as long as I’m driving. My chair has wheels on it so I use it for “rolling” my stuff in to where I’m going to be sitting.

I have a question that you might help me with. Most quilt patterns do not actually fit the size of a bed. I understand this may be done due to the cost of the fabric, the size of the blocks or other reasons I’m not aware of currently. I have been adding borders to the quilt (usually to lengthen the top and bottom). Do you have any tips at strategies to remedy this problem? Love your channel. Thanks for all the content you, Chelsi and Billy provide.

Linen is also made from a different fiber than cotton. Linen is made from flax and is more expensive because production is more limited than cotton.

Wonderful video. Thanks again. Love those listener questions . I have one but not sure if i should ask here or by email. I think i will rend question to both. LISTENER QUESTION: Have you Sherri or Chelsi ever backed your quilt in Minky or Minkey like fabric. I live Canada and think that it would be good for our climats but i hesitate to try as I quilt my quilts on a domestique machine (Janome 6700p). I love the cow wrestling reference from Chelsi.😂 i would love to hear your thoughts on this subject.
