Thanks for testing it :) I wish we could just update the website but we had too many cases where it didn't fit. AMD seems to make these CPUs at different locations and the glue application is different from batch to batch it seems. So for some it doesnt fit without modification :(
Glad to hear I got lucky and get more insight into why it isn’t listed at compatible online. All the thermal grizzly products I used in the video were flawless.
I'm looking to do the same thing to mine. What sort of modification is needed? Is it just a matter of paying a machine shop to skim off a few thousandths and recoatong? Or is it more involved? Interested in what sort of issues I may run into. I don't mind spending a couple hundred bucks aftermarket and getting it to work, just want to know *what* it would need to work. Love your channel!
Ive got a 9950x running CCD0 at 5.35 and CCD1 at 5.2 all core also I changed settings in bios PBO SETTINGS: PPT 230 TDC 160 EDC 225 CCD0 -25 all core CCD1 -55 all core and I get 45000-46000 score in cinebench all the time and the cpu package is 200-205w underload also it never passes 65c on ccd0 and 57c on ccd1 the induvidual core temps are a bit lower some go higher some go lower but i recommend changing your settings in pbo to defaults to see your temps after. also completely stable :) ran r23 for like 5h and coreCycler or at least stable to a point where i cant crash it
Hi man, how to get to that member part, and see the cooling vid for 9800x3d(didnt see any.member stuff here (or on site) - will be going for that service on your site once 5090 is in and build done 😊
Great video, I absolutely hate the fan wire clip mounting system on Noctua tower coolers. After all these years you would assume they would innovate on that at least, considering how expensive these are.
will the 9950X3D be faster than 9800X3D? in productivity it will be faster for sure, i already know that, but in terms of gaming too, will it be faster or same perf?
worse. The moment the game tries to use the other CCD, it will result in stutters. I think AMD gets around this by using core parking. Which turns the 9950x3D into a 9800x3D by disabling one of the CCD’s
@ pretty negligible. Probably useful in a select titles but probably doesn't pan out for the majority of games. AMD themselves have said 9950x3D and 9800x3D are going to be fairly matched in gaming
Not to knock on your experiment, but if you did your research right, you would have went with the NH D15 G2 LBC version. Noctua clearly states on its website that because the coldplate of the LBC version is the most flat of all 3 versions, it is best suited for direct die applications where you need the flattest contact possible. You could probably have gained another 2-4°C with the LBC version.
Instead of delidding, I've found undervolting to be a lot practical. I literally cant see with my eyes the performance gains for gaming from delidding. For the time and money the performance gain are minimal. Its a great hobby tho.
Cringing hard at the ("normal") thermal paste application, it doesn't need to be spread out; you're only creating air bubbles this way. You're also using way too much. Also clean your hands, you don't want to accidentally touch your eyes with that stuff on it. But you're probably aware of all this and only doing it for engagement, well, guess it worked. With liquid metal it works different; that does need spreading yes. Please watch more of der8auer content on it, and why he always recommends and uses kapton tape; he sells it too. Do like the content, keep it up.
Yeah because the 9800x3d is made for gaming which care more for the extra cache rather then extra cores and frequencies while the 9950x is better for workloads like the benchmark hes running
Dude is using a CPU only meant for gaming. The 9950X is a high end CPU for productivity which is why you got a higher score. Both of these chips have their specific purpose. The only AMD CPU dedicated for both gaming and productivity is the 7950X3D. Also Intel 14900K does the same for cheaper but hotter.

nice job man!
can we not see a video with your bios settings. feel like it should of been in this video.
the temps are still 70 degrees with direct die thats insane.
Ive got a 9950x running CCD0 at 5.35 and CCD1 at 5.2 all core
also I changed settings in bios
PBO SETTINGS:
PPT 230
TDC 160
EDC 225
CCD0 -25 all core
CCD1 -55 all core
and I get 45000-46000 score in cinebench all the time and the cpu package is 200-205w underload
also it never passes 65c on ccd0 and 57c on ccd1 the induvidual core temps are a bit lower some go higher some go lower but i recommend changing your settings in pbo to defaults to see your temps after.
also completely stable :) ran r23 for like 5h and coreCycler or at least stable to a point where i cant crash it
WoW amazing

froggy fresh
what is your room temperature ?

@@Marauder-q2v but isnt the boost clock higher? So lets say one would disable the non 3d ccd?

Is there Asus rog x870e-e good .?
Was it worth doing?
No 😅
Actually a 420ml freezer iii will cost the same as these parts, you can get it for less than 100$
Use rubber gloves ;) years of that on your hads is not great :)
Why? Stock IHS with 240mm AIO, same 5.3 all core, will give you better temps than you are getting, for a lot less hassle.

That’s what i used

LOL My 9950X scores 47350
Ever think it has double the cores and higher frequencies?
Yeah because the 9800x3d is made for gaming which care more for the extra cache rather then extra cores and frequencies while the 9950x is better for workloads like the benchmark hes running
