  • Gigi, girl - STOP EDITING YOUR INSTAGRAM PICTURES! I like Gigi Hadid, she seems really lovely and down to earth. So I was a bit disappointed when I saw her Instagram, and what appears to be a crazy amount of photo editing going on. Facetune or photoshop - whatever it is, the pictures that Gigi has been posting are not an accurate representation of what she (or any other human!) looks like in reality. WHY Gigi? Surely you know better than this! Yes, we all have the right to edit our pictures technically speaking, but is it ethical? Especially when your career is based around your looks? And you're a role model to millions of people worldwide? I personally think that editing your pictures to this extent is quite damaging to the self esteem of (not just yourself) but women everywhere. It is perpetuating unrealistic beauty standards, that no one can live up to in real life, or online - except wit the use of editing tools.

I think the problem is our entire society has been brainwashed to think that physical appearance is very important and that we all are highly flawed compared to others. Look at images of models in the 70’s and 80’s. Their faces look completely different than people look now. There were techniques even then to blur flaws and tweak photographs. But everyone didn’t look like a doll. I think with progress of technology we’ve all become too used to seeing the unreal version of public persons that we now literally all compare ourselves to something that does not exist in real life. It happens subconsciously because of what we’re seeing in media.

Yes I make mistakes but the way I look and how I am is not a flaw. I love the way I look at every stage of my life. Idc what people say I will always promote and encourage love yourself as you physically are and take good care of yourself. What most ppl do NOT get is how the evil globalists who run the world (the "powers that be" that really shouldn't be!) are in charge of all the AI systems that create filters like this and they are the ones who orchestrate, manipulate and market these products. Then, they stage the trends by using celebs as 'useful idiots'/ shills, etc., to endorse them and then obligate the public masses to fall for these dehumanizing hipster trends through the celeb usage & endorsements. It's a shame that models this young and gorgeous play along w/ this trendy BS.
I think the video creator (Stephanie L) has good points about how Gigi is surprising her b/c of how she is one of those rare models that comes across more down to earth, etc...so why would she do this?, etc...but I think what she was trying to say that she didn't quite articulate is how Gigi is falling for hipster culture and how this, in and of itself, is the actual problem that needs to be further examined b/c this issue is NOT just a beauty standard issue - it's a political, religious, cultural issue all across the board that covers many subjects that affect our lives.
And ppl we consider cool, approachable and humble SHOULD DEF. NOT be hipsters - hence our shock in Gigi falling for this nonsense. It's good to be 'hip' but not a 'hipster'. There is a diff in these two things and most ppl are binary thinkers who can't understand how to reconcile duality concepts like this and they fall for false dichotomies w/out nuance so the blind leads the blind. Hipsters are 'tragically hip' and fall into this hyper fad/unrealistic trend of being super super perfect and that kind of perfectionism is not only SUPER UNHEALTHY but it is a twisted way of normalizing this trend into a celebration of the fake human and this fakery is so so dehumanizing to the point of making future generations fall for much worse.
Humans are def. being encouraged to be less real, and are being REPLACED by machines and robots and this is a huge step in that slippery slope that is being shaped and molded right now before our very eyes - as this technocracy is 'hidden in plain sight'. However, most ppl are deeply naive and deeply insecure w/ huge egos and don't care and like Stephanie said, 'they praise her filtered pics' instead of calling out the fakery. These are the enabling hipsters who want to be super hip as well as they are what I will call 'hipster adjacent' b/c they want what Gigi has - fake or not. Let's also be clear - this is not the same thing as cosmetically enhancing yourself w/ make-up or surgery/ procedures which is not a bad thing if done right for right reasons. These are tech filters - very diff animal!
The blind fans are even worse than the celebs. This is called ENABLING folks. Stop fawning after and buying into this crap and STOP enabling narcissistic globalists who wish to turn us into robots who later on, will not have enough humanity to say no to all this evil and will just fall to their knees and worship this beastly system of fraudulence and deception to this degree. In the next 20-40 yrs, we won't recognize ourselves very much at all if this bullshit keeps trending!
Come on people - STOP. BEING. HIPSTERS.....................!

I am 36 years old and since I was 27 I have been obsessed with trying to remove the slowly but surely appearing wrinkles and saggy cheeks I'm getting. I decided I shouldn't care because that was normal when you grow old but it felt like I was giving up on myself and on the meantime people still think I look around 22-25. I didn't even realized when I got brain washed.
Watching this video I found myself thinking Gigi looked older in the non edited pictures and I hated it because now it seems that at some point I adopted the "any trace of texture or shadow on your face = unattractive" and that is not truth and it sucks. This was a much needed and much appreciated video. I am hardly ever on social media, the main things I watch are RUclips and sometimes scrolling through E! news app. But it is super helpful for me to watch these videos of yours because I would not have known/guessed that most of the pics I see on social media are photoshopped or edited because I hardly ever use social media. I never use any filters or anything with the pics that I take. Partially cause I don’t know how and I never post any pics anyways. All the pics I take are for my own enjoyment and all the people I want to share them with are people that I am close enough with to text regularly. So photoshop and editing things are all new to me. It really is a helpful reminder to see your vids and know that I shouldn’t be comparing myself to pictures of people I see online or on social media because a lot of it is heavily edited (even if I am not able to recognize it a lot of the times). I love how you normalize natural beauty and point out that they look great before and after their editing but the editing is not necessary and we are all beautiful human beings and all of the things they edit out are normal human features that everyone has. Thank you for the reminder ❤️🙂

Usually I normally agree with everything you say in your videos but not so much here. While yes, some of her pics are edited more than others, no matter what, a candid shot almost always look less flattering than a posed one that especially in her case will be professionally lit, etc to improve how the photos will look overall and how she will look in them. Just like how you sit in front of a camera with lights of some sort to look you bets in your videos. Also, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, nor with doing a little editing to one’s photos, either they’re professional photos or for social media etc. Photos have been manipulated and edited since the beginning of their existence-how often do you see old photos of Victorians, or even people in the golden era of Hollywood that look like perfect porcelain dolls? They didn’t all just happen to have flawless texture less skin back then either.
And what would photography be as a profession without tweaking photos at least a little to enhance the lighting, exposure, depth, richness, etc whether to create a photo that looks exactly how it looked when you saw it in person(like with scenery/landscapes, etc), or to adjust the color tones(or remove color) to create a certain mood with it??
Does she look slightly different in the candid shots compared to the posed ones? Sure, but it’s really not a drastic difference at all, and most differences can be achieved with good lighting. Also, her skin isn’t airbrushed to the point she looks like there is none at all, nor does it appear she’s adjusting facial features to change how they look as far as their shape and size like many have done for a while. If she wants to use good lighting and brighten her eyes and smooth her skin slightly I don’t see anything wrong with that.

It is a good mission to discuss the harms of filters and photoshop, however, your camera also has a filter. It can clearly be seen that your videos are also blurring your skin and improving your appearance. Many cameras do this automatically, however, considering that this kind of content forms the basis of your channel it would be an stronger gesture for you to go out of your way to use no filters. Otherwise, your criticism is not really backed by action on your part. Action that you so desperately call on others to take. The reality is that your point is moot if you use a filter as well.

@@stephanielange Do you use BeautyBox? There are many editing programs as well that blur the skin and help with lighting. If you zoom in on your videos there is clearly blurring and filtering. This is the case when the video is at its highest definition. Lighting can help with this, and, in that case lighting is basically acting as a filter to hide (blow out) any acne or lines etc. Your videos are not showing your true appearance either. So you are profiting off of exposing people for doing exactly what you are doing. If you want to do this in the true sentiment of what you claim (honest beauty standards) make the videos as you truly are. Don't hide yourself with lighting, filters or make-up. Isnt it kinda delusional to be assuming reasons why someone would want to post pictures in which they look the most flattering to them? It might not have anything to do with her feeling insecure about getting old or having textures. Of course it can be really empowering to see skin textures celebrated more, especially when someone with a big platform does it, but that doesnt mean everyone is obligated to that. It feels so chronically online to expect these influencers to constantly only post something relatable in order to not make other people who are insecure even more insecure 😐

When I was young and had a baby and my friends didn't, I bought a minivan to fit in with the older moms that did have kids. I also remember feeling like I didn't fit in with my friend group anymore. It passes as all things do. Wouldn't change a thing. Love your videos. 🌬️💕

Wow this is really hypocritical considering that literally every photo on your instagram is face tuned airbrushed. Is this a joke? Shaming other women when you're NO example.

We had a photographer at work (for taking unified corporate photos). With an oddly placed lighting, he managed to make many of us look 10 years older. So i guess in some photos bad lighting + unflattering makeup + awkward angle made the trick for Gigi. I would not post these photos of myself either. If that would be absolutely necessary, I would "tune" them first, maybe not to that extent but still. I understand Gigi here

Other than the skinny neck, I mostly find the photos are more on different color tone? The lighting on the real life doesn’t flatter her skin, to me she just edits it for that purpose.

I honestly think that angles and lighting make a huge difference and I wouldn’t chalk it all up to editing. Yes, she is selecting which pictures she puts forward on her social media, but her literal job is to book jobs for all those magazines and advertisements who will edit her photos, so I can understand why she chooses to post the ones that those clients would want to see from her. All of your “real photos” are from different angles which of course can change the size and shape of proportions, I don’t think she face tuned her neck skinnier

Nah celebrities like gigi and the rest face a lotta criticism for their looks. Like people constantly point out tiny flaws and so called imperfections like she gets criticised for her cute cheeks and gets labelled as chubby unflattering cheeks which is so not the case. So inorder to shut down criticisms and to dodge the bullet celebrities retouch their pictures. They are constantly in the public eye and face a lotta criticism for tiny little things.

I love this video.. but just a quick FYI: most celebrities don’t actually upload their pictures on ig, what is posted is normally done by their social media managers whose job is to make you look good and the “best version of yourself” and avoid controversies. I personally don’t think it’s her trying to prove herself but just how social media has sadly pushed celebrities to look like
