Absolutely so true No 5, and also shown some love and patience they will fit into your live style. My JR is a long legged one ( not a Parson Russell, which I had before ) but used as a stud for breeding purposes for 4yrs, then discarded as breeders wanted fresh young blood, like greyhounds after a certain period I’m sure. Anyway he had never been allowed inside a house/ building where humans lived, and clearly had a phobia about entering any of these properties, his place was a converted stable/ kennels for living etc. Anyway point is after 9 mths of living in the real world with me, he is an absolute gem and I take him anywhere indoors or out. Honestly I think they get a bad rep as snappy n aggressive because of owners not putting in the time to train etc 🤷🏻‍♂️ great pod keep it up. JRT 💪😎

Fearless is right! Mine (Sonny) had a serious altercation with a raccoon a month ago. The raccoon was much bigger but Sonny went right after him and a serious fight ensued. I had to separate them with a pole, which gave Rocky the raccoon time to escape into the swimming pool. Managed to grab Sonny and bring him indoors, but the rest of the night he was at the door ready to finish the job. Haven't seen Rocky since... Sonny had a few scratches and he got a rabies booster shot afterwards.

Jack Russell - stubborn - no surprise. But they respond well to genuine effection. Dog is smart - worked out how to use kitchen draws as a ladder to get food.

You are absolutely correct about the Jack Russell Terrorist being great with children. My 4 year old female is adjusting to living near my 2 year old and 3 month old grandchildren, and she is doing an amazing job being gentle with them. I spent a couple of years letting her get to know the neighborhood toddlers, and it really paid off. The toddler pulls her tail and ears and tumbles the dog around, and nothing bad happens. She lets the child get away with things she'd never let me do! And, with her daily exercise, she is a very, very calm dog. I'm struggling with a bit of leash reactivity, though, and I'm getting discouraged that nothing is working to help her relax. Suggestions appreciated.

My jrt is my rehab coach. The perfect dog to make sure I get my daily workout.
She is great with children and is definitely fearless.
She is so smart and tenacious that she even figured out how to open the door to her puppy crate. Lol
    Tfs.

We love our JRT here down under 🇦🇺 I’d love to know if they need another dog with them in the home, or if that is recommended? Our little girl was brought into the home when we had our old boy, a Tenterfield Terrier,. He was great for her as he was very mellow, kind and smart. Sadly he’s been gone for 6months now and we do wonder if eventually she needs another dog here for the days we work and the children are at school. If yes, what dog types match…? Another JRT? What about Norfolk Terriers?
    Thank-you!!
