I live out in the country where people will frequently abandon their animals. One day, almost 3 years ago now, I was taking my pit bull outside and saw someone from their truck throw a little black dog. They drove off quickly and left the dog behind. I ran up to the dog, it was the cutest pug I’d ever seen in my life. He was about 3 years old and perfectly heathy. Gizmo is now very happy with me and the rest of his new family 💕
i just got a pug for the first time and it was definitely the best decision i’ve made
Me too!
I have an 11 year old Pug, Prissie Sue. She is a delight but very stubborn. She loves carrots as a treat! She was overweight so her treats are now carrots. No dog treats. She lost 11 pounds and the vet is so happy because it helps her joints and muscles. She knows so many tricks but the best one; and she taught herself, by watching me. She gets on the bathroom scales and weighs herself. She stays there (sits or stands, whatever I tell her to do) until I check her weight! No kidding... I took a picture of her on the scales to the vet's office and they posted it over the scales. They could not figure out why she hopped up on their
scales so easily. I laughed and told them it was a "trick". Prissie Sue was my husband's dog and he passed away six years ago. She is my gift from him... He did so love his baby girl too.
"And they can live up to 15 years old"
As I sit here and pet my 17 year old pug lmao
I like when they move their heads when you ask them questions, giving off a questioned expression.
Pugs never hear their names but always hear food 🤔
So true LOL
pugs are the best. miss my little guy dearly... even tho he would betray me for any food 24/7
joe k awe I’m sorry
Awww...i feel bad for you!
I am sorry for what happened to you! :(
Me too pugs are so great
RIP TO ALL BEST BUDDIES PUG DOGS! I lost Gizmo my pug dog 2017
My Bitty passed 2 weeks ago and I cry and miss her every day. She was black with a white star on her chest. BITTY is the best of the best and always will be. I never had a pug before but she taught me how and what to do. My BEAUTIFUL Bitty baby girl 🥺❤️😞
KIDS SHOULD BE TRAINED TO TREAT ANY PET WITH RESPECT!!!!!!! Yasssss
My pug just turned 6 years old last month, & I’ve had her since she was a little puppy. I think it’s funny that every day feels just as loving & exciting as the first day I got her. I know it’s a little dramatic, but I sometimes cry just looking at her because she’s so precious to me. She’s the only thing that has been consistent & unconditional in these past 6 years, grounding me and caring for me as much as I care for her. She truly is my angel. ❤️
I had a pug x duchand for 20 years!!!! His name was Cid..... I adored him!!!! He was more Pug..... with short duchand legs!!!! The Love of my life passed away 3 months ago.... and I watch these programmes to cheer myself up!
I have had 5 pugs and have lived each of them so much. My first pug was 2 months old when we first got him. He had the longest tongue and loved yo lick. We named him "Lambe" which stands for loves to lick. We used to take him to A&W to have an ice cream cone. We loved watching him eat it. He was our baby for 18 years and finally had to put him down. I cried for weeks. To this day I still miss him. We got the movie 101 Dalmations and he would sit on the couch and watched it. Constantly running behind the tv to get the dogs. We loved him so much. He's buried on our front yard underneath our tree. He loved it there. I'm crying now just thinking of him.
I met my girlfriend 5 years ago and she had just gotten a pug. I’ve always liked animals, grew up with pets, but had never been really attached to a pet. It took about a month of her(Monkey is her name) following me everywhere, absolutely having to be on top of me as I watch tv or just sitting. One weekend while my girlfriend was out of town, I don’t know what happened. I walked in the door after a late night of partying. Monkey comes running down the hallway as she did every time I came home, and I picked her up, took her to the couch to sit with me, she looked me dead in the eyes, as always, but that was the night I realized I had the best friend I’ve ever had or ever will have. From that moment on, I was, and still am, at her every need. If she wants to play and I’m completely exhausted from work, I will play until she wears herself out. I don’t really go out at night much anymore because I enjoy being with her more, and I take her everywhere with me. My family loves her to pieces and laughs a lot at how much I spoil her. I am one of those “crazy dog people” now and I don’t care.
The only issue in our home now is my girlfriend thinking she loves me more and I love her more, which isn’t true, we just have our own little bond. They are the greatest little friends you could ask for, but if you must have your personal space, you absolutely will not have that with a pug, lol. Other than that, I would recommend one to anyone else looking for a perfect little companion. Their hearts are bigger than they are, and all the shedding, grunting, snotting, and their face one inch away from every meal you eat, along with all the other “cons”, is something you will actually love about them.
I’ve had my pug gordito for three years now, 🥺 we got him when he was six weeks old. He’s been my baby and by my side everyday since we got him, we sleep, eat, relax, do everything together. He’s my best friend.
I love their snorting and their snores. It makes you feel safe to know they're there. I also love the Pug purring noise, when they're happy.
My Chico was a pug/chihuahua mix. He easily took over as my all-time favorite #1 pooch. I rescued him from just moments away from euthanasia and he was my shadow for more than 12 years, passing away at the age of 18 years.
I just rescued a chug a month ago. He's the best boy ever
I appreciate the video. We found a neglected pug in the road today. Took her to the vet. No microchip. They guess 11 1/2 yrs. Her nails were corkscrewed and one was digging into her toe. She may have never been trimmed, or its been a really long time because her toes look permanently bent after being trimmed. She received her rabies and a bath. They said they don't think her teeth were ever cared for...or it's been a really long time, because what teeth she does have left all need to be pulled since their health is beyond repairing. She is underweight and needs to gain. So far we realize that she hasn't been taught anything, but responds to treats well, so that is how we'll train her, if she's capable of learning this late, we think so. My other animals aren't sure about her presence. So far she gets into everything and doesn't even try to go around obstacles, just plows through, she slides all over the tile...so booties have been ordered. I guess we have an adventure ahead of us! 😁
I love how you mentioned the selective deafness they have! I forgot about how my pug would ignore her name all day but would respond anytime we asked her if she wanted a treat! I had my pug named Lucy for 15 years and she was truly the sweetest little dog.
Just rescued my first ever pug baby. She is 10 weeks old and was rescued by the human society. The whole litter had heat strock ! but survived . I am watching videos on her needed care and am so blessed that Katie was a fighter and pulled through. She makes my fur family complete, I have an older Shitzu also.
watching this was fun. thank you. i had a puggie for 9 years. since he was born. he passed away last month. everyday i came home from work, i'd say"hey, bay-bay", and he'd pop his sleepy head up and i could hear his tail rapidly hit the couch. I miss that face so much. everything you said about the personality of a pug was on point. and he was the silliest dog i ever known. i want to get another pug, this year hopefully. cheers
I got a pug for my 11th birthday in 1970. She was the runt of the litter but she was in a cage with her siblings and she climbed over all the other pups to get to Dad first. He said, "That's the one....the one that came to me first." She was a lot of fun and very easy to train.
I rescued my pug buddy Dutch 3 years ago the vet said he was between 2 and 5 years old when we got him. It is believed that he was a puppy mill stud because he literally took weeks before he figured out that he didn't have to stay in his crate even though the door was open and that he had the run of the house. Although he was crate trained he wasn't house trained nor did he have any idea how to play with toys or balls.
Well after 3 years I now have an extra appendage that can drive me insane at times and Dutch's new favorite games are rough housing and playing tag around the dining room table. LOL
I am disabled and spend most days in a recliner or on the couch, and Dutch gives me a reason to get up everyday plus he forces me to get some exercise whether or not I feel up to it or not. Other than my wife and kids he is the best thing that ever! But I agree, pugs are super needy and will eat until they explode if left to their own divices. So if you don't have time or you don't want a dog at your feet 24/7 or on your lap every time you sit a pug isn't for you. And yes they shed horribly but it is a small price to pay for the devotion and love they give back for taking care of them.
They aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer but they are the most loving. Dutch senses when I am in a lot of pain and don't feel well and when that happens he will literally not leave my side and if I move at all he stands out of a dead sleep and looks at me until he knows I am ok. Funny how they just know.
Dutch sounds a lot like Kilo - he loves "fighty fist" and tag and LOVES being with me.
This is so sweet. I’m also disabled and my pug violet.. god I know she senses how I’m feeling!! And just like a child they encourage you to get up and keep living and take care of them and yourself. I would die without my violet. She is the best daughter I could ever ask for.🥺🖤
My black Pug is now 14 years old, having some trouble walking as hind legs seem to be weak so she now travels via baby stroller and loves it!! We go out daily and she gets her mental stimulation. Makes me smile every day!!
my pug is the bodyguard I never hired. Even when he's scared, he would attack a snow plow in my honor. :D
sounds like Kilo
I have a black pug named Meeko and he’s one of the babies in our house! He has an older brother whom he loves to play with every day. Although my pug requires extra maintenance; having a pug is so rewarding. Nothing beats having a true companion at your side !
I have been owned by pugs for well over 35 years! Wouldn't change it for the world....
My husband just got me one for my birthday. He has been the best thing during this quarantine. All my time for him and I love it.
Aww this made me tear up. I miss my little puggy. She was the best. It’s true she never left my side. I miss her every day.
I have a pug chi cross, Jodie. She too has selective recall. However, I have trained her using a special word. When I call out that word she always comes because she knows it always means she gets a treat. Pick a word that won’t be used by a lot other dog owners at the dog park. Repeatedly call your dog using the word, then give a treat each time. Soon they will come every time. In an emergency if they get off the leash then you can use the word to recall them. It has worked great for us.
I just had to put down my 15.2 year old pug Coco.I am heartbroken.Even my vet cried. She was my second pug.She was charming, loving, dedicated sweet and ran my house.Pugs are pugs, not dogs. There is no kind of unconditional love like a pug. I found a great breeder in Wyoming and I get to pick up baby Lollipop on August 2nd.It is lonely and sad right now but loving a pug is a phenomenal feeling!
I had 3 pugs and they were my life. They passed after 15 years and I still grieve them all.
I love how compassionate and loving they are!🐾❤️
I foster senior pugs from the Pug Rescue. I say I foster but I have yet to part with one, not a good track record! I swear they can lose their hearing, their sight, anything; but they instinctively know when you even change positions! It is like a built in GPS.
I love pugs I have one girl named Lulu she’s six years old. Everything you said in this video is true.Yours is a cutie.Tanks
I had two pugs until October 2019. My second younger pug, Brahma, died at home on May 25 at the age of 15 and 5 months. My first older pug, Buddha, was only a bit more than a week shy of 17 years old when he died on October 24, also at home, in my husband's arms. I miss them so.
So sorry for your loss but such long happy lives
Pugs are the greatest dogs.
I had a pug he was a Russian pure bred pug who was rescued at two weeks .. he passed away at the age of 13 last year . Seeing this video makes me miss him so much and it is so relatable .. took a lot of patience to train him (hardly ). They are stubborn when it comes to food .if u don’t share your meal with them they won’t let you pet them ,lol. They truly are the cutest and can easily win in a snoring competition against my dad
Jeter has got to be sweetest pug ever... he likes everybody, even if he first met you, you get lots of kisses. He's potty trained, and sits at the back to let you know he he has to go out. He is now trying to talk like a human, God help me if that ever happens, he talks to humans constantly and waits for an answer. So far he says yes and no... when he gets good at it, i'm going to put it on YT. He's a nut job... gotta love him.
My first born male is 23 lbs... only 1 year old.... strictly portioned diet....probably considered the pick of the litter... we call him a miniature mastiff...he stands 2inches Above his mum. Unconditional Lovett all times... we have a joke about never raising voice with them... it would crush them... best dog/watcher of our temple💕
I adore pugs. I have 5 adult pugs. I used to have 6, but I just lost one to bladder cancer. He was my favorite, and it broke my heart. My pugs are excellent with my kids. They howl when they here baby's cry or sirens. They love to bark. Even if there is nothing to bark at. They are my favorite breed.
My pug is the best addition I could have chose for our family. He loves everyone, including cats, very social and he’s very protective of us and any kids around. He fits my personality.
I am a Pug lover! I am still getting over the loss of my little Pug companion (Joy) whom I lost about a month ago...after 13yrs of love 💕 I am convinced that I will be in the market for another Pug soon. I have been scouting breeders in my area. Really enjoyed the video...and was amused to know that my little girl was not alone in the love for food category! Joy was a very small Pug weighing barely 10lbs...but from the get-go she could hold her own! Another Pug lover, Sharon T from California
We got a Retro-Pug puppy in April and are so happy with her character and health 😍 Retro-Pugs become more and more popular in Germany, because standard pug breeding is defined as „toture breeding“ (Qualzucht) in case of so many health issues like laboured breathing, inflammation of eyes and crinkles, defective foot position and so on. It‘s so important to inform yourself well about the breed, her problems and find a reliable breeder, who‘s looking for health before visuall appearance/ cuteness.
Our pug is exactly how you described! They’re amazing and beyond adorable!
My sister adopted a pug about 4 years ago. The minute I met little Bridget, I was in love. She was a little shy and wary of others at first, but after awhile, she became the sweetest, funniest little dog I have ever known. She and I are the best of friends, and she’s made me consider adopting a pug of my own. Everything you said in this video sounds exactly like how miss Bridget is! Very food motivated, very friendly, funny, sweet, and spends a large amount of time sleeping. I can’t imagine my life without her. 💕
I have a black pug, and was just sucked in! I’m getting my second soon!
Great job on this video. I’ve had three pugs over the past twenty years and this video sums it up well for new owners. I would add though that you should expect vet bills on this breed. For instance, the vet will generally recommend they be anesthetized before teeth cleaning. Things like that can get expensive, but they’re worth it.
I love pugs with a passion it's my best friend whenever I feel lonely or sad or depressed my pug is always there for me you know when I feel like I need a hug or a kiss my puggsy means a lot to me
I was smiling throughout the entire video. I am so glad we decided to get a pug. Mine is very tiny and she recently recovered obesity so she’s 7 kilos.
My Radar lived to be 16 and was the best boy. He lived to please and be loved. I found it strange that you said your pug had accidents in the house because Radar flat refused to go anywhere but outside. That was one of our indicators that he was not going to be with us much longer... he had an accident in the house and was HIGHLY embarrassed about it. I miss that sweet boy.
I just lost my 16.9 year old baby this year and I am heartbroken. His love was unconditional and he was my third child in may ways. All that you shared was true. I miss him so much :( !
I love Pugs, I've always wanted one They're so beautiful. ❤️
Spot on about pugs. I have 2 and they keep me going. If you give them love, you get 10 times the amount back.
Pugs are the best dogs EVER!!! I've had three and they were/are so individual but equally funny little critters. All of mine were super easy to house train. I love all dogs but pugs are SO special!!
I love pugs and my Pebbles has trained well with treats. Also, she is a brindle .
We have had Wilson for 5 years got him at 6 weeks and he is my pal . Spoiled rotten he is one of the family. Great personality very smart.
My Pug Dodie is all about the selective hearing unless you have food. She takes up half my bed and snores louder than anyone in the house. Then in the morning when she gives good morning kisses always snorts all over my face. It's a ritual. But I can't imagine my life without her. ❤️❤️❤️
Love love love pugs!!!! growing up I had 3 pug brothers and sisters lol and my pug brother saved me when I was little from a rattle snake cant say enough positive things about pugs they are wonderful great video I subscribed !!!
Thank you- I just aodre Kilo. He is the little prince in our family.
Watching this with my pug right now. She HATES having to go potty in the rain. Summer is her favorite time of year, she would spend hours switching between sunbathing and then sitting by the air conditioner. Love my little Sunny!
I love Pug. My is adorable and like to talk a lot.
My pug Jasmine just passed away a few days ago. She was 16 year's old. I love the breed. They are so dam cute and are clowns. I will get another. 💔
I am so sorry for your loss. Sending pug hugs.😍
I'm so sorry!!! Please do get another when the time is right. It's the only thing that took my pain away.
I just rescued a Pug/Chihuahua a few weeks ago and it was the best decision I ever made
We have 3 fawn pigs, all rescue. They are the most wonderful dogs. Unconditional love as long as we feed them. We are so lucky to have discovered this breed. There is a pug rescue site that we got a brother and sister. How could we have just taken one? No way can you separate them. So we took both. I can't imagine life without Pugs!!!!!!
You mentioned energy burst. Sometimes mine jumps out of his bed , starts flying through the house like a rocket for no reason and then jumps into his bed again looking at me like nothing happened. Strange little fella but I love him.
All my rescue pugs have had jah issues. Spinal degeneration, collapsed trachea, urinary crystals... MOST ARE NOT EASY ONCE THEY GET OLDER. IF YOU AREN'T IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL, DON'T ADOPT A PUG!
On the flip side of that argument, they are adorable and can be so sweet. Their illnesses and having to make that "last decision" more times than I ever wanted has broken my heart in two, but the love they give is priceless.
You described them and the way they are really well! I have two pus and they are sweet, gentle and loving. They do shed a ton, so if you have a pug hair will be everywhere. Combing them every day helps....Do not encourage your pugs to jump as small dogs should not be jumping, esp. not on hard surfaces. My sister's pug was encouraged to jump and guess what? His spine got injured from jumping and one day he could not walk anymore... so be careful! They are precious little dogs!!!
i just stumbled across this. i loved every second of it. what a way to start a Friday. Our Fawn Pug Molly is 16!!! and she still is going strong. this video is spot on. :) Now i want more!!
I have a 3 month old fawn, everyone should have a pug! Life began again for me with this loving addition.
I am crazy about pugs!❤️❤️❤️ I had two pugs. The oldest passed away at the age of 13, he was a rescue. The owners fed him everything and anything. But by the time he got to us became healthy and very happy. I miss my duke,We love them so much we got another one to keep duke company at the age of eight weeks, two years before Duke, passed away and his name is Doozer He is now six years old and he’s just our baby boy the sweetest thing we ever had. Besides our kids that is :-).
I own 2 pugs now aged 2 years old .had them since 4 months old .they are very cute and friendly they are like my babies haha ..yes they sure love there food...and always like my own shadow where ever I go weather I go to the bathroom ..upstairs or in the garden and when I sit on my sofa both of my pugs come upto me and lay on me for a belly rub while they rest and sleep because mine are rather spoilt..yes they can snore depending on there weight...smaller ones dont tend to snore because I actually have one of both a small one and a slightly bigger bug but they get 3 walks per day and always get entertained by myself..they love food but you have to be careful how much you feed them as they are very easy to put weight on...mine always wake me at around midnights because they want walks haha but I love them so much they are so friendly and cute best dogs I have ever had out of 6 and aslong as someone takes them on exercise everyday they will stay healthy...I only give mine a chew once a day when they behave ect because that learns them faster when training them to not pee or do there business indoors giving them a treat helps to get them to learn faster that's how I learnt mine and was worth it..yes they are spoilt but they are the best things I've ever had
Our Pug is one of the best things happened in our lifes😁😍😍
Can't even tell how much we love him
😍😍😍
Excellent video about Pugs 101.
I absolutely love pugs they are so funny and cute ten thumbs up
this year for Christmas i'm getting my fiancée a pug cause he's been talking about it all year. This information was very helpful. Thank you for posting this.
I love pugs!
My pug is so loving. Love her wrinkles, snoring and tongue hanging out of her head.
Pugs are great for many reasons. They are very versatile dogs that will acclimate to any owner with any lifestyle. Humorous and fun loving. Sturdy and healthy.
Pugs are the best!!!!!
My first pug his name was Lord.I loved that he maked me smile even if the day was hard.I lost him 6 days ago because of a car accident. It was so hard for me and it is now hard as well.He was always close to me,licked me smiled to me my bed was his bed as well.I will always blame myself because i couldn't save him.I still can't belive what happened was real.My parents gave me a new pug i called him Lord because that is what i felt when i saw him.Because of him i am recovering from what happened. It is hard because it all happened fast but i know with time i will be okay.I wish you all owners do everything you wanted with your dog don't let it for other time, please do it soon. What maked me to learn my first dog Lord(was like a brother to me) is to be strong and be happy.Always to remember him with a smile on my face even if it hurts so much.I hope i will make him proud some day because of him i want to take care of myself even if i hate myself because i didn't die.I really wanted to die if i could help him be alive.I am sorry for my bad english and for this long story i hope it will help someone reading this story!
Pugs are cute little fellas with those soulful pleading eyes and friendly loving nature they give in return for niceness from others wanting to pet it.
My pug, Paco is the best natured dog I've ever had, and all he asks is that he gets to be with me.... always.
My black pug Rocco has selective hearing too! I find that mking certain strange sounds consistently for certain things helps with capturing their attention.
Yes and mine knows treat or hug or pee pee
never thought i’d owned a pug in my life but my sister brought one from medico and now he’s the best i’ve had
Thank you for your kind true information.
The pugs should be a good friend for those who can afford to look after them.
Not cheap.
My pug died😢I hope she has a great time in heaven💔😭
@Matt836 im sure she is ❤
Matt836 she will ! She is probably eating all the food she wants and sleeping on a comfy bed
im so sorry for your loss
I’m so sorry for your loss he’ll be playing around with all his puggy friends right now in heaven and having a good time but occasionally glancing down On you every so often making sure your alright and telling his pug friends “hey that’s my human right there”
Aww so sorry
I recently lost my pug my best friend after 14 years by my side
I am in so much morning missing my little buddy it’s killing me I loved him so much and still cry for him everyday my pug was great
My black pug. Paris is the best dog I have ever had. She will lay down and wrap her tail around my husband's arm
Pugs are my favorite dog breed in the world! I completely agree that they are the funniest and cutest dogs!
There are fans of Pugs but with all the cute dogs especially shelter dogs needing a home who wants a homely dog.
Omg my pug Simba behaves exactly the same :) tx for sharing
I also have a girl pug, who is very cute and charming. She's not very intelligent though, but she has no problem staying alone at home cuz she's able to enter a sort of "sleep mode" when she's by herself.
Pugs are heaven sent! My little angel is the quintessential pug! Always looking for food, extremely stubborn but always loves a good cuddle!! Perfect indoor pet :)
Hi From India,
True Pugs are great companion and they love to get pampered,
I would like to suggest all pug owner's out there take your Lil buddies for walk on concrete roads .
You will never have to clip their nails.
Love, love, love Pugs! We’ve got two of our own, Bertie and Victoria! ❤️❤️❤️
We just got a pug and we love her, her name is Bella. She can be a little feisty, LoL, but she is pretty smart and very playful. Best decision ever 💖
Puggies
Very good explanation of Pugs!! I love the pug crazies or zoomies 😃
They are such wonderful companions! Mine took 3 months to potty train. They are such a joyful fun dog!!!
Thanks for all this data, i have 3 pugs and this will really help for people who asks about them, they are so loving with they wrinkles and they snoring all day
We just adopted Lola from the animal shelter yesterday 😍🐶 we love her 💕
I never thought I would love a dog this much. I have two pugs now...they’re like lays, can’t have just one.
