I drive and practice using a vehicle that has no power steering (old and only thing we have to eat any bumps and scratches!), trying to attempt a 90 degree parallel is absolutely impossible, to pull it off I have no choice but to approach the first step 4:58 already in a 45 degree angle
I passed my test more than 10 years ago but I’ve never driven. I had some refresher lessons but my instructor discontinued due to some family event. So here I am, sitting in my car in an empty car park, watching these videos practising my manoeuvres.
You can do it! I hadn't driven since passing my test in 2009! Been trying get back into it with practicing in car parks and now parallel parking before braving actual main roads. Let's triumph!
Thank you so much for all your videos , I passed my test today for the 1st time . Literally lived and referenced on your channel. Keep up the good work 😊💓
Hey man I know you might not see this but your videos helped me so much! I had a years gap in driving and basically forgot everything. My test was booked 2 weeks away and my instructor was too busy for any lessons. I watched your videos and they helped me so much. I ended up passing first time with only 4 minors!! Thank you again.
OMG, I WISH my instructor taught me how you do! Thank you so much for your videos! They are extremely helpful! I will try your technique to parallel park this evening.
Your video's has been helping me with my driving lessons with Wimbledon driving school. Im only 10 lessons in 2hours each lesson and book my test before December 2020. Thank you for sharing your tips for free. Iv learnt alot from your video and so simple to understand.
Its good that people make these videos to help others but if that was parking in between 2 cars you never make it. The DVA should be telling instructors that once their students have successfully parked like this they should be teaching them to park in tighter spots. Driving lessons are costly and for that people should be taught absolutely everything!
I can do parallel parking, until one or more cars are waiting for me so they can pass by. I start sweating and end up driving off lol. Very embarrassing, I know.
Hey Francis! Just want to say that your videos help me a lot in passing my test yesterday! Your videos are educational & entertaining, wont get bored watching over and over! Thank you 😇
I wish my driving instructor could explain things as well as you do! Driving test in two weeks and I have only just started to do parallel parking, haven't even done a hill start either! 😬 😬 😬 Going to watch your other vids and then go out and practice in my own car with my husband and hopefully I might make it through my driving test.
All Great videos in this channel. I watched many of them repeatedly and passed my practical test on first instance with 4 minor fault. Of course my own instructor helped me but these videos are awesome
You seem like a great calm instructor. I feel like mine just gives out to me all the time. Then he tells me at the end I’m a good driver so I dunno 🤷🏻♀️ test next week and I’m so nervous even though I know what to do
I did parallel parking yesterday in my lesson and its not as bad as I first thought it would of been. Will be going over this again tomorrow in my next lesson as my test is in 4 weeks time. And this is the last manovere I need to practice on. But not as daunting as I first imagined :) this is the method my instructor taught me and it works perfectly. Great video Francis 👍
you have gave me a great understanding whilst driving towards my test. you have made it so simple to understand and i have my test tomorrow i am on my own but have had great advice from you. i will keep you updated lool. thank you for you helping us all to understand and break it down in all stages.
I struggle with this. I use the same reference points but it seems in that middle turn of the steering wheel (the 2 turns bit) so much depends on how fast you're reversing and how fast you turn the steering wheel. I get it right 1/2 the time. Other 1/2: hit the kerb or end up 2 feet away. Seems like a narrow window to get it right.
If your in a different car to him your reference points may be different don’t just guess practice and each time take a mental photo until you finally get it in perfect at that point you’ve found the reference points for you, just use that unless you change cars or seating position and they should not change if your getting to for away or touching it. Then it’s the problem with the last double turn. I use a different method personally but if you follow his then turn twice slightly before to get further away or later to get closer but like I say find the right one and do not forget it.
I drive and practice using a vehicle that has no power steering (old and only thing we have to eat any bumps and scratches!), trying to attempt a 90 degree parallel is absolutely impossible, to pull it off I have no choice but to approach the first step 4:58 already in a 45 degree angle
This helps as I always get mixed up with my reverse parking and which way to turn the wheel! Im getting better and have my test in a couple of weeks so its going to be practice practice, thanks
All well and good until you're in a town centre, cars behind you waiting, one small bay with cars parked either side, high kerbs to scuff your rims and some rain on your mirrors to top it off.
Thats very accurately shown, but what if the cars aren't parked so far away from each other and all you want to do is just sell the car, and buy a new one when you come back wherever you tried park on front of
I failed my test one minute in, executed the parallel park perfectly but because I didn’t check my blind spot I failed, unclear on if I have to repeatedly check my mirrors and blindspot whilst doing the manoeuvre
i've been driving for 3 years now and i still don't understand parallel parking! to be fair, i've never had to do it since my lessons. thanks for the helpful video 😊
Similar to how I've learnt it! May I also say I've been doing this thing with my instructor when we driving through roads and see cars parked and I indicate to show I'm passing the vehicle and cancelling the signal after so they won't think I'm turning left I haven't seen this in alot of driving videos I think it might be helpful
Hello I am learning in an automatic car with electric brake .the problem is when I need to reverse I have trouble controlling the speed. I would be greatful for any ideas Thank You. Ivan
In a test you probably wouldn't but irl it's good practice if you're, for example, parking in your street and notice cars coming from behind. If you're just stopped and still pointing straight, the cars behind may think you plan to keep moving forward. Indicating left suggests you may be trying to park and they should thus should give you the space to move back. I don't think it's a legal requirement, but especially on narrow residential streets it would be advisable.
Hi would you please advice what to do if we are doing parallel park and other cars are waiting from front n back both because I start panicking as soon as cars arrives therefore I cant do my manoeuvre properly.
when most instructors said u gotta turn full left lock turn until u angle at 45 degree, then stop, straighten and back up. Whereas U said ONE FULL TURN but there is NO REFERENCE point as to how much to turn till straightening, though u said the door handle touches the kerb, which is very confusing and NOT SHOWN visually in this video, if we saw how it looks like "door handle touching the kerb", it would be much easier. Also do u think ONE SINGLE STERRING TURN in ur car matches same angle in every car?
The ‘turn your steering wheel one turn then two turns’ just does not work. I’ve been using that method and each and every time, the car touches the kerb. There’s just not enough turn in one turn and then two turns…..
My driving instructor told me that i am not allowed to tilt my left door mirror downwards before this manoeuvre, could someone confirm if this is true? im finding it difficult to see the kerb.
My driving instructor makes me turn my head completely and look at my back window when reversing. He dosent let me use the side mirrors at all which makes it more difficult for me. I know he's qualified but I think looking at my interior and side mirrors will help me more.
He is definitely making it far more difficult for you by not letting you use your mirrors. The way he is teaching you will perhaps allow you to develop additional skill, so don't give up on it yet. Perhaps have a discussion about it the next time you have a lesson? Best of luck!
What the hardest place you had to park in? 🚗😬
Parallel park on a curved hill road 😏
My drive which I can do now as its on a decline. It was difficult to get off but I have now found it.
And the tighish multistory car park at work.
hope to be atLeast as good as my dad which is Asking for much as he paraLLeL parked with under 30cm of space in front and back
I drive and practice using a vehicle that has no power steering (old and only thing we have to eat any bumps and scratches!), trying to attempt a 90 degree parallel is absolutely impossible, to pull it off I have no choice but to approach the first step 4:58 already in a 45 degree angle

Lmaoo I think ima be doing that too when I pass my test especially to get better and not crash my car in a busy car park.
You can do it! I hadn't driven since passing my test in 2009! Been trying get back into it with practicing in car parks and now parallel parking before braving actual main roads. Let's triumph!
Same right now too
Thank you so much for all your videos , I passed my test today for the 1st time . Literally lived and referenced on your channel. Keep up the good work 😊💓

Thank God 🙏🙏

The student was delighted! Very sweet
Hello Francis, I passed my test today first attempt with no fault. Thank you for your videos.

We're happy to hear it!👏👏

Good luck!
How did you do?
@@2997ajay Passed :D
I can do parallel parking, until one or more cars are waiting for me so they can pass by. I start sweating and end up driving off lol. Very embarrassing, I know.
Same here. It’s only been three days of driving but I know I will improve
Aw bless u

Gives me so much anxiety! I can't
I like your explanation and you are the best instractor that I have seen!!!
🙌😉

I wish my driving instructor could explain things as well as you do! Did you pass when you started learning to park late?
All Great videos in this channel. I watched many of them repeatedly and passed my practical test on first instance with 4 minor fault. Of course my own instructor helped me but these videos are awesome
Thank you so much that’s really great vibes
Thank you for your help with your videos I found them so helpful I passed first time yesterday
Best parallel parking video out there
Favourite video on parallel parking!!!
Thank you!
You seem like a great calm instructor. I feel like mine just gives out to me all the time. Then he tells me at the end I’m a good driver so I dunno 🤷🏻♀️ test next week and I’m so nervous even though I know what to do
I’m also in Ireland but you’re videos are excellent and clear
Did you pass?!
Oh...WOW....WOW indeed ...what an explanation...!!!! Thank you
Thankyou so much for this clip you have explained the reference points so well and I will absolutely be using this ☺️👍
I did parallel parking yesterday in my lesson and its not as bad as I first thought it would of been. Will be going over this again tomorrow in my next lesson as my test is in 4 weeks time. I'm continue watching to your video it is really helpful thanks for sharing to us.
you have gave me a great understanding whilst driving towards my test. you have made it so simple to understand and i have my test tomorrow i am on my own but have had great advice from you. i will keep you updated lool. thank you for you helping

Very handy tutorial. Nice breakdown for the steps. Thank you.
Best driving teaching videos so far, Thankyou!
Your very helpful for others to refresh over key points thanks I passed !!
Brilliant mate

Francis, finding your videos really useful,my confidence has gone, have not driven for ten years,
All well and good until you're in a town centre, cars behind you waiting, one small bay with cars parked either side, high kerbs to scuff your rims and some rain on your mirrors to top it off.
Nice job
Good teaching thanks .
That student is very good. I'm got my license and still can't parallel park lol
Thats very accurately shown, but
what if the cars aren't parked so far away from each other and all you want to do is just sell the car, and buy a new one when you come back wherever you tried park on front of
Great video bro! 👍
Thank you so much 😊
Thanks dear i was confused if i block other car what i do now i get it once again thanks
When you say the doorhandle should "touch" the kerb. Is that the back door handle or front?
Back
Back is correct, but it will slightly vary depending on the vehicle you are driving! This is often a good reference though.
The reference point I was taught in an Audi a1 worked fine. However in my car It seems different and slightly off.
It definitely depends on the vehicle you're driving sometimes, as the length and steering of your car will impact this!
Thx
I failed my test one minute in, executed the parallel park perfectly but because I didn’t check my blind spot I failed, unclear on if I have to repeatedly check my mirrors and blindspot whilst doing the manoeuvre
Does the back door handle have to touch the kerb or front?
i've been driving for 3 years now and i still don't understand parallel parking! to be fair, i've never had to do it since my lessons. thanks for the helpful video 😊
Glad this helped :) Practice makes perfect!
He’s just like me , saying yeah ok but not getting it at all🥺🥺🥺 need demonstration like the animations
Hi ,
Do I have to also change the position of my mirrors to manage and make this Paralel parking ?
Similar to how I've learnt it! May I also say I've been doing this thing with my instructor when we driving through roads and see cars parked and I indicate to show I'm passing the vehicle and cancelling the signal after so they won't think I'm turning left I haven't seen this in alot of driving videos I think it might be helpful
If you drive up next to a car to reverse park, how do you warn others than you are going to stop there to reverse. Reverse lights?
Do you have a video on parking in a bay or reverse parking into a bay?
I always messs up on the last turning point, when do you take off the steering?
So long as your within the space it doesn't matter I occasionally park slanted.
Do you do tutorials for automatic cars?
1-2-1 routine
Are the two right turns half or full
You didn't tell him to check his blind spot before the car swung out. Luckily he did it himself.
He is good he will pass
Hello I am learning in an automatic car with electric brake .the problem is when I need to reverse I have trouble controlling the speed. I would be greatful for any ideas Thank You. Ivan
Are you sure you need to signal because I’ve never been advised to signal while parallel parking by any instructors?
In a test you probably wouldn't but irl it's good practice if you're, for example, parking in your street and notice cars coming from behind.
If you're just stopped and still pointing straight, the cars behind may think you plan to keep moving forward. Indicating left suggests you may be trying to park and they should thus should give you the space to move back.
I don't think it's a legal requirement, but especially on narrow residential streets it would be advisable.
Hi Francis, Thank you for this useful video
So when you said full turn to the left, is that a full lock to the left?
What does it mean doit hamdl touches the kerb please if someone explain
Hello and thanks for good videos for inspiration♥️ Can i ask which camera u normally use to recording?
I think what they’re saying here is that parallel parking is complicated but not complex, which is a view I share.
I used to be able to do this so well. but after a ten year break from driving I stink at it now
Hi would you please advice what to do if we are doing parallel park and other cars are waiting from front n back both because I start panicking as soon as cars arrives therefore I cant do my manoeuvre properly.
Thank you for this video 🥺😭
Thank you for your support🙌
I wouldn't say that this hard, i have done it 5 times and it was allright
Is it when the rear door handle or the passenger door handle "touches" the kerb you start turning?
Passenger
Do you need to signal when doing parallel parking
He looks like Danill mdvedev the tennis player
How far apart are the cones? 15 feet?
I thought when turning right in parallel parking the steering has to be quick?
Great video, good points but why is the "student" shuffling the wheel instead of "hand-over-handing" the wheel?
Would you consider doing automatic lessons/videos?
Could be considered!
when most instructors said u gotta turn full left lock turn until u angle at 45 degree, then stop, straighten and back up.
👍👍👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
pizzA method???
Sometimes i do this and i end up being too far from the curb, what am i doing wrong?
The ‘turn your steering wheel one turn then two turns’ just does not work. I’ve been using that method and each and every time, the car touches the kerb. There’s just not enough turn in one turn and then two turns…..
Where are the driving lessons with kieren?
I’m being taught to steer as quick as possible 🤷🏻♀️
I struggled with that ( fast steering), this the best option .
no just no I’d have to steer earlier then or else I’d hit the kerb
Yeh me too but i think it defo makes it messier
Why no one ever mentioned which door handle? Back handle or the handle passenger next to me?
Back
When turning 1 to the left and going back what door handle is your reference point? The back door handle or the front passenger door handle?
My driving instructor told me that i am not allowed to tilt my left door mirror downwards before this manoeuvre, could someone confirm if this is true? im finding it difficult to see the kerb.
Maybe his personal preference
5:07 Jehovah Witness’ must’ve been over the moon to see fellow learners practising how to park in front of their building😂
I never turn my steering wheel quick enough, it’s beginning to annoy me rather than just stress me out
Are you a driving instructor?
My driving instructor makes me turn my head completely and look at my back window when reversing. He dosent let me use the side mirrors at all which makes it more difficult for me. I know he's qualified but I think looking at my interior and side mirrors will help me more.

Why are they doong this with no car behind the other car?
Don't turn your whole body for checking your blind spot ,
That is a ridiculous parking space for London. People here routinely reverse park in spaces only 2ft longer than their vehicles.
Today one man is so angry.he told me are u pass your driving test.
1oclock method is so much easier
Car manufacturers need to get on with make cars park sideways already, parallel parking is far too difficult.
