@@MickeyJoesMREReviews As for the Coffee if you think of Bow of a ship then change the B for a D you get Dow and that is the correct pronunciation the second word being Egg-Bert. If you like Curry Soup the look up Mulligatawny which is a Curry Soup from the British realm times in India which is where Curry comes from, It was used to cover the taste of ingredients that were going off on the long voyage home

Couple of things as a Brit ex-military type.
Tea and coffee should be tested as NATO standard (White, two sugars). Thats how we were taught!
Also the coffee is pronounced "Dow Egberts." It's an established brand.
The reason for two choices for the tea and coffee is brand recognition and perceived choice.
Personally the beans and spuds (potatoes) is hella bad!!

I love that the British rations give you choices, even if it's for something as small as a cuppa. Thanks for watching!

I had this menu a while ago, was really good.
Shame that the British Army appear to have cut the ration budget when they moved from the box to the bag.
Less stuff in the 24hr now.
    Great review :)

My personal thougts about the coffe/tea: Perhaps the packing of coffee/tea from two different brands is the result of a lesson learned from the "Tasters Mold" problem of the U.S. MREs.
That redundancy prevents you from having to recall the whole batch of rations, if a problem with just one of those minor components occurs, as there is a backup already packed in.

Using a Guinness pint glass for anything but Guinness is a sin and should be illegal

Hi....I'm a fellow, British, MRE reviewer and Just came across your ORP review,(and subscribed).... great job!....and glad you liked the components....I've been eating these since the late 80's / 90's (While serving) and right up to present day... for my hikes / walks and now reviews....They have changed a lot over the years but were always very good for the time period ....I now review and have eaten a good few countries rations.... and still think they are way up there with the best.....If you get the chance check out some of my reviews...I've recently reviewed the ultra new British, brown bag, 8 hour ration....That had wedges and spicy sausage, but the potatoes are now even more huge....massive even!......ATB.....Mick

Google says: A rusk is a hard, dry biscuit or a twice-baked bread. It is sometimes used as a baby teething food. In the United Kingdom, the name also refers to a wheat-based food additive.
    Hope this helps.
Using the Nutella like you did is the only way I can eat it, It is kinda weird to me to think of putting Nutella on toast, as you said it is mostly an icing and on top of brownies is the only way, or I might try it on say a chocolate cake. Have a lovely day and thank-you for sharing.

Please substitute "British" every time that you say "English" (unless you're talking about that awful "English Breakfast" tea) as it's a British rat pack and not an English one...There ARE 3 other countries which comprise the UK...If you call a Scotsman an Irishman or a Welshman "English" then you're just asking for a sore face.
What an american would call "baked beans" someone from the UK would call...Baked beans too. The "hot water" is just to dissolve the drinks powder...and it's then meant to be left to go cold or chucked into a canteen for consumption during the day.
I don't mean to sound like an asshole with the "calling everything British" English, but to a Scot it's like someone calling you a Brazilian when you're from New York.

    • @MickeyJoesMREReviews
      @MickeyJoesMREReviews  6 лет назад +3

Sam C pardon my ignorance! I'm well aware of the countries that comprise the UK, I just didn't realize I was saying English when I meant British. And even if I was supposed to leave the energy drink until it cooled off, I actually liked drinking it hot.
