It would probably be something like old odd smelling food from the 70's that are way too good for some reason, mixed with "type 1 instant coffee" and moka mix, with authentic scho-ka-kola (that totally doesn't have any drugs in it)
It would just be 100 instant coffee type II packets

The fish smell is present in a lot of different chemicals when they haven't been purified properly. The smell comes from Amines; once you've smelled it once, you don't forget it. It's like how sulfur or ammonia have distinctive smells.
Worst one I remember is called "cadaverine".

I didn't even know the U.N. had its own rations. I guess I just assumed that member nations contributed their own packs. Love the vids, Steve. Always the highlight of my sub feed.

I love the plain packaging of these MREs, it's so different from regular food where it's all branded.
Steve probably brings home generic "beer" and pops the top, " nice hiss".
It reminds me of the brand we have in Canada, it’s called no name. It’s all yellow packaging, rarely any graphics, and has generic names. It’s cheap and pretty good too

I never tried an MRE until after Hurricane Ike, they were passing out boxes of them with different menus and I thought they were pretty decent, then several years later I stumbled upon this channel...Nice!

Awesome review man. This was a really fun ration to explore. I loved the Mexican sauce. Kinda sweet and smoky, like adobo. Thanks for the reference. It's always cool to see the difference between differing menus of similar items.

Great review of amazing ration. They have hindu and vegetarian menues beside western and halal if you want to add it to annotations, plus group CRP for 10 people. Also, if you know commercial version of this high fiber isotonic drink please identify :))) I efn love that drink... I like how they put so many different kind of entrees inside the bags. And it seems only I used water with muesli. Thanks for linking us in description - Asger

Each new Steve video is a bright smile all the way through. Great stuff in this one, and yes, unsweetened protein powders taste horrible.
Years ago, a friend of my fathers that worked in the (then) emerging industry of protein (in Europe) related things gave us a few samples (the usual stuff family members get and stuff) despite the cocoa base, it still tasted like death, never understood how they marketed (and in time, succeeded) these things back then.
Sidenote, you know, it's been years since i've come across bloomed chocolate. I think it might actually be a decade since. We've really brought the standards of manufacturing really high on that. And i do eat quite a bit of bitter chocolate, which, in the past, would yield the most weird looking coloration despite being well with expiration date and properly sealed.
I thought the bitter taste could be down to following the beans and sausages with it, those sausages leave a taste that interact with other flavours/

I think a camping review would be awesome, it may show which rations are more practical outdoors. I don't know of anyone who takes a tray with them camping, but the tray is pretty popular, so idk.

Oh for sure on the tray man! lol. What you could do is lay the stuff out like you normally do and say, "let's get this on a tray" then cut to wherever you are outside with the stuff on the tray.

Fun fact, those solid fuel stoves use fuel tablets made of hexamine, which is made of formaldehyde and ammonia. It might explain the smell
Have to check into this, formaldehyde is a known carcinogen.
I think some mres use cotton dipped in kerosene.
