well, it would be nice since 2 half-life 3! If the valve one sucks we could play this one instead (or the other way around)
half life 3 will most likly not be episode 3 it will be sometime after episode 3

I was thinking on Valve buying Project Borealis to cancel the project. If the story was pretty much there (which, I imagine, is the primordial element to create the game), why not to work on it? especially now that we know the conclusion (at least most of it). How the hell no one at Valve has wanted to work and finish this project in more than 10 years? maybe some did and got shut down. I always think that if they released HL2: Episode 3 when they had the chance, we would spend our energy on thinking and talking of the upcoming HL3 running on Source 2. Damn you, Valve.

I'm sure if you count internal revision/update numbers (like this is) then Valve has gone through countless "3rd" iterations while developing product, and well beyond that, lol. Like version 0.3 of HL1 we never saw, while it was still in development? Or any of their other games? ;)

I don't think the SMG grenade should have a blue explosion. It's a gun made on Earth (unlike the pulse rifle), so it should have a more typical explosion IMO.
The motion blur on the guns is a bit extreme too.
That explosion effect is just a default Unreal Engine placeholder. We're currently hiring a particle effects artist to create replacements for those placeholders :)
Also the Motion blur is default Unreal 4 engine...
Marisa Nya, 'hire' and 'job' are just terms we use, no one on the project gets paid for their work, and we receive no money for the work we do. It's funded entirely out of the generosity of the people on the project. As well, we have no intention to sell the finished project, unless Valve requires us to so they get a cut of the profit, in which case whatever cut of the money we make will be donated to a few charities of our choosing (which will be decided if this issue occurs).

So many great people who are living examples that people will always be driven to learn and create even if there was no profit incentive.
i think the weapons wobble too fast. You guys should try to mimic the speed and movement of hl2's, that could help the movement feel much more fluid than it currently is.
This is basically the devs of Project Borealis giving the middle finger to Hunt Down The Freeman.
The best part is that if Valve does a DMCA takedown they will bassicly back themselves into a corner where HL3 is innevitable.

Thank God for a capable and passionate presentation team/narrator. By far doing a video in this guided, well-worded and well narrated style is what makes this project seem more professional than any other early access game or mod. Kudos

I'm really confident in this project, and I hope you all do well. I'm also very sure you're gonna get alot of people for the needed positions, since HL3 is such a big demand, of course people are going to want to help make a game similar to that of what HL3 would be.

Fantastic job on the weapons and especially the pacing. To get it that close, if not perfect, is actually incredible. The monsters are super dope, as well. The literally one thing I have a problem with in this video is the overcoat in 2:25. That's it.

I really love how it looks so far, but please don't add cut-scenes. The charm of the Half-Life games is that you're never taken out of Freeman's perspective. I've heard this project is going to try and stay true to the feel of the originals, so that's promising. Hope to see this become the next big Half-Life game!

Gordon's voice can't be copied, its like David Hayter.
Besides, Gordon's voice actor has passed away years ago.
Well, _Gordon_ has no voice actor anymore (as others have stated) but _Gorden_ might. It depends on how much a risk they take. It is my personal belief that nobody can do as good a job as Gordon Freeman's original voice actor. My favorite line of his was when he said "[Can't Use.]" Just thinking of it makes me tear up. How the hell is any voice actor going to capture as much emotion as the original?
I have good hopes for this project, I just hope they don't butcher Gordon's voice. If they do it'd be a disgrace to all of Black Mesa.
I would love to see combine helmets to fly off if headshotted with a heavy weapon (shotgun, 357, AR2, etc.) The head would be the pale model similar to the one from nova prospekt.

The helmet, being a full helmet (as it also covers the face) wouldn't fly off, it would shatter, much like the face behind it.

I think I can speak for all of us fans when I say that we love you guys, and that we cannot thank you enough for what you're bringing to life here. Amazing start in my opinion, love the lighting in the warehouse area and the gun models look splendid. Keep it up, we're all rooting for ya!
Sample track was amazing; totally sounded like something off of HL 1 or 2.
Gotta say, this is what I hoped would come from that Synopsis release. Heck if people could remake Half life "Black Mesa", or make an amazing prequel to portal "Portal Stories Mel" it would make sense they could also do the same for Half life 3.

Compared to the original HL2 animations:
The pistol should be a bit faster
The smg needs a bit more kickback, not just vibrating a bunch
The shotgun is pretty much exactly the same as the one in HL2 which is good, It would be dope to see a bit more kickback.

Akhilesh Patil They can't because the game is builded on Unreal Engine. Since Valve only uses their own engine, instead of third party engines. I highly doubt that Valve would do that.
It looks very interesting, but if you want to have the original feel of the series, then don't change the position of the weapon, nor the (default) lazy weapon. I always found that mods changing this felt already different than the originals.

They probably won't because it's not official, even though Marc Laidlaw wrote 'Epistle 3' and we and Valve all know what it stood for.
If Valve does intervene, it'll be because PB resembles something they're working on, which would indirectly reveal it to us. If anything, if PB does well, Valve will probably end up backing it.
Still, I've always said Half-Life 1 and 2 were extremely innovative. It's going to be extremely difficult to have that sort of impact again but at this point, I'd be more than happy with an extremely refined Half Life 2 style game. I wish the PB team good luck.

Nice animations. This looks fantastic, I'm excited.
Your new animations are amazing. I hope you can improve the flashlight. I dislike the broken texture on the arms though. Your lighting and texture systems are amazing and really improve the engine. ALSO AAAA HOUNDEYES YES. Maybe some crazy modified alien grunts could come back? Music is great and will definitely feel awesome in gunfights. Are you using UE4 and not source? That worries me a bit, though if you can manage to get all the physics down I guess it's better in the long run.
+Maxfowl05 It probably wouldn't be difficult to put Havok into UE4, Valve did it with GoldSrc...
What do you want changed with the flashlight and could you point out the broken texture that you say is on the arm?
And yes we are using UE4. We currently don't have plans to port Havok or any other physics engine to it.

RAY hill We're looking at a multitude of things from Valve to help us ensure we deliver something true to the series. In the case of unreleased or cut content, we would have to determine why that was the case and then see how to better integrate it in the game, if we can at all.
