    Thank you for your honesty Nora. I think so many of us who love fashion have to watch our shopping habits. 😊

    Thank you for this. It was great to learn I am not the only one that struggles with this addiction. I too have found that I have overconsumed thrifted items but now I stop muself by thinking do I really need it? Is it part of my list? Could someone else need it? This is helping but I still find I spend too much time browsing. What I am looking for now is a diversion like reading or craft but I have yet to form the habit. Perhaps exercise as someone else suggested could work.

    • @wonderwardrobe
      @wonderwardrobe  11 месяцев назад +4

      You should start with understanding your triggers. Why do you browse, what triggers you to look for new clothes, what feelings or sensations appear at that moment? When you know your trigger, you can look for solutions on how to deal with the feelings that make you want to go shopping/browsing. But it won't work very well if you just ignore it and try to replace it with something else.

    Thanks for this helpful and interesting podcast. I can relate to some of her struggles. I will follow your advice for cutting out my shopping habits as well. I actually don’t shop much new stuff anymore but I thrift constantly. Which is not the best neither ❤

    I struggle with similar things and impulse shop when stressed so much so I get broke at the end of the month.

    • @comealongcomealong4480

      @dakine4238 As Daria says, shopping can be associated with complex human behaviours. Also, this generation is advertised and marketed to at a rate never seen before, 24/7. For young men also. /Being broke at the end of the month sounds no good for you.☺ Maybe then you can't join friends for a night out, buy a concert ticket, pay for a hair appointment or pay your bills on time. Or you have to delay buying groceries. This could be the point to work backwards from. How much would you like to have in reserve at the end of each month? Can you put that amount on a separate card at the start of the month? It is there if you need it, but away from your everyday cards. The other thing is - Saving for something in the future. It may take half a year, or a whole year or more to reach your target amount. But if you've put aside small amounts (like 20/30/50) you will find that you can survive without that sum. /Yes, shopping can make us feel calmer, soothed or more in control very quickly. I wonder what else might be good when you have stressed feelings? Maybe you have a massage or beauty treatment booked. Or go for a swim or yoga class. Perhaps something creative like tapestry, painting, jewellery making or pottery. Anything that takes your full concentration will feel calming, and make those nice beta brain waves! Any contact with animals can work in a similar way - cat, dog, horse, rabbit - it doesn't matter. Anyway, I hope you get some valuable tips from Daria about impulse shopping 🍀

      @@comealongcomealong4480 thanks a lot! This is such a thoughtful and informative reply. I will think about the questions you posed and see what alternative things I can do as well as how to have money left over at the end of the month. Having it in a different account makes sense to me.

    We often shop to self-sooth... If we have problems at work, in relationships, or our body image, in any way then we reach for our "addiction" to self-sooth through bad feelings. I'm glad she talks about it so openly, it's very brave. But I felt like she was interrogated a bit... Did she know that this was going to be the topic?? She said she thought you were going to talk about cute clothes, not deepest darkest secretes. Hm. It would also have helped to mention from the start that we all struggle with this at some point in our lives. There wasn't enough reassurance to talk directly about such a problem...

    That's not enough to determine if she has low self esteem, because ", silly question" is a normal part of the English language nowadays, people just say it without thinking. If they really thought it was silly they wouldn't say the question or loud.

      Absolutely, seeking professional guidance can be immensely helpful for addressing impulse control. This podcast aims to shed light on the topic, but personal counseling is always a valuable avenue to explore.
