I have nothing but praise for chief Wiggins. The man also brought us in the cart 1990 phenomenal just phenomenal. Chief Wiggins you’re the best in the business and thank you for your RF two contribution I’ve already donated and I suggest others donate to you as well.
As for your Eagle v8 climax combo Eagle never used a v8 climax they used the older Straight-4 Climax up sized to 2.7 litre from original 2.5 1960 unit.
The '80s mod sounds like it's gonna be 🔥🔥🔥. This whole mix-and-match formula car bits idea reminds me of "Victory: The Age of Racing." It was very much on the arcade end of the realism spectrum, but it was possible to build some pretty realistic-looking cars from the early '60s all the way to modern times. Might be worth checking out if you haven't already.
I've never been that big on the 60's cars but my god they sound so good. I definitely think this is an era I need to revisit and probably spend a lot more time with.
Thank you for not only the work you do (as it's my love too), but showcasing this. I am SO all over this right now. I think every racing game I get these days, I always gravitate to the 60s F1s first, if they're there. Something about them is so pure and great.
Every once and a while i kinda forget rfactor 2 exists, then i see videos like this and then i go play it for like a week straight. I cant wait to tinker with this one when i get the time too.
I have several ideas, how leagues could work. It depends on how random the result should be and do you want to have multiple classes (every part gets a score and every class can use a specific amount of points. in my example I will use the sum of 40 for all best parts together and class A will be use up to 5 points, B = 15, C = 25 and D = 35). I don't like systems, which penalize fast drivers/ winners, so there are no options for that. Option A: randomize who have to use which parts before each round (and reshuffle undriveable combinations like the best front wing without rear wing). This is the only option, which can be held without giving all parts a score. Option B: make 8 races and use a different class for each round and all drivers are in the same class and can select what they want (e.g A, B, C, D, A, B, C, D). Option C: drivers select a class and which parts they want and changes are not allowed. so when you want to be fast in monza and slow in monaco, select a good engine, but when you want to win monaco, you should select wings. Option D: give everybody part points after each round at the end everybody should reach class D (e.g 35 part points / (8-1) races = 5). If somebody skip one round, he still get the part points, else he wouldn't have a chance for the rest of the season. Added parts can't be removed (e.g second round monaco, third monza: if you buy wings for 5 points in monaco, you can't remove them for monza to buy an engine for 10 points.
I don't have much to say other than this was another brilliant, high quality video and I just wanted to leave a comment to appease the RUclips gods. So... Really enjoyed the video, great work!
Great content as usual Jake. I believe that it's an athletics stadium, in fact it was our National Athletics stadium pretty much up to the 2012 Olympics
Hi, i have to say i love your channel! Great Videos, just wish i had more time to watch them all :) I´m a big Fan of Group C, maybe because my first live Racing experience was a Race at the Nordschleife with a bunch of Porsche 956`s and so on. I still remember the Goosebumps i got, when these Monsters started their Engines! Sim Racing is a real great way to relive these times! Your Channel is a great starting point to see what sims give you a great experience (And yeah i found many Mods for Assetto Corsa thanks to you ), thank you very much 😍
Another very interesting and entertaining video. Love the idea of a league, perhaps also having reverse points for upgrades, with even negatives for the winners? Curiously if you've got an old 1967s calendar, it'll be identical to 2023 - the perfect retro Xmas present!
So far I did not feel the need to re-install rF2 again. But I would do it for this mod alone. That is really a great concept by Chief Wiggum. If you are reading this Chief, maybe you remember me when you were a part of my GPL-Fun Liga in Germany back in the days. Great stuff you have done there. Sound is amazing too. Thanks Jake for another great and entertaining video.👍
This would actually be a super fun league to do for like, 10 rounds. Have a multi class between non-downforce and downforce cars and every car has to have at least 1-2 swapped piece(s). That would make for some interesting competition!
Great video! I quickly tried the mod when it came out and was not aware it worked this way. Certainly going to give it a shot again. I found the FFB a bit low on my Fanatec GT DD Pro somehow, but that may need some more tweaking from my side.
Ild love to see the difference in laps time around the old spa layout. a difference on 1.5 seconds around such a tiny track must have lead to a huge jump in times around spa or even the nurburgring
great vid as always.I have something to try over the week end now.....A video of yr ffb steering wheel settings DOR etc for each game would be interesting and helpful....
Interesting video Obviously though if you put a powerful engine into a well designed and developed car and then add downforce and therefore more grip then that car would be better and quicker Also maybe a high speed track like monza would have been a better test Still an excellent video
I thought for some reason Mike the Bike owns both lap records for two and four wheels at the Palace? Stil no as loud as a bunch of Crystal Palace ans during a home game. That engine neeeds work to be loud
I always was curious if there was any outcry from fans and media when the first wings starting appearing on F1 cars like we had recently when the halo was added. People complaining that is was an abomination and it ruined the aesthetics of the cars.
I thought Ferrari were the first to run proper wings in 1968 however if I remember correctly Lotus did use a Aerofoil on Graham Hill's Lotus 49 which won the 1968 Monaco GP
Ur downshifting too early, thats why u went kablooey, first fime I ever drove a 58 Ferrari in rf1 downshifting into a turn I went boom, very fun and very cool
Hopefully there will be a 80,s mod aswell…. (how about the MP4/4 chassis with the full on groundeffect sidepods from the early 80,s … and an 1986 engine…
I'm also curious how badly the MP4/4 would be affected if we stick the god awful heavy Porsche 3512 engine in the car as that was what Porsche proposed they would make for McLaren in 1988 before the Honda deal came off.
How much of a difference in suspension movement can you feel between the high and low wings? The early wings were mounted on the hub carriers so the downforce was only on the wheels (which as I recall is why they were banned, not just because they were mounted up high in clean-ish air) which allowed full suspension travel, while the low body/chassis mounted wings only applied downforce when the suspension was fully loaded.
I spent some time time earlier this year testing with this track in RF2 and found on more than one occasion I came barreling into the final turn way too fast only to put a nasty dent into the nose cone🤣
This would be fun in a league as a handicap system. I am not a fan of the performance weight penalties. Plus you can create the Tasman series Spec with 2.5 L engines and different chassis combo's
I mean BRM literally took of two of their 1.5 Litres V8s flipped the one their side and connected them by a common crankcase so yeah it abit of a throw together engine also BRM partnered with Weslake to make the Weslake V12 aswell as working on a BRM V12 for sports cars and 4.2 Litre version of the H16 engine for Lotus to use at the INDY 500 all at the same time!!!
@@adammercer6004 Actually it was two flat 8's one on top of the other. BRM initially didn't want to develop an entirely new engine because of the cost but Tony Rudd convinced his bosses they would save money by using the 1.5 engine's internal parts (pistons and rods) and heads (after the 3 cam experiment failed). The two half's were connected by a central chain, but the two had different inertial characteristics. Rudd added weights to the upper crank to stop it from surging and dying with and in between cylinder firings. That and a heavier clutch basket and thicker than expected block castings made the unit massively overweight. It also never reached it's expected power ratings.
sorry, now I understand what you mean, yes you are right, for the Custom Car it is not possible to change the Sound for different Engines, but the other Cars have different Engine Sounds.
@CheifSpugy @secretRBRman its funny tyat GPLaps was like WOAHW this car sounds so different just like the Matra V12 even though it was the exact same V8 sound from the start...🤦🏻♂️

Seriously we need a league about this.
Get a group of people, get them to build their own car, race them, and create our own era of racing.

Finding that sweet spot between cold tires & a hot engine 😹

There were no V 10's in the 60's and the Repco was based off of the Buick 215 block with an OHV valve train and heads grafted on.
They need to bring this into AC Content Manager. Super cool swapping out engines and body and aero.
Only gripe I have is we didn't get to see the different dash's! Great vid, thank you :)
Excellent video as always, I have a moderate knowledge of the late 60s f1 and this helped make those smaller details so much more clear

AC desparately needs something like this. Think about how endless the combinations could be for the 60s/70s sports prototypes and formula cars

I never knew that about 67! that cool!
This would be a great series! In addition to the HRRC, you create your own f1 car coupled with a custom livery.
I think a point system with a cap which forces drivers to prioritize what is more important to them. That might work for a league.
Love ur content man
