Many confrontations start off slowly as the aggressor amps him or herself up. Part of that ampin up process often includes some form of aggressive contact that is not a strike. It could be a push, a poking finger, shaking a pointed finger at you, etc. Doesn't matter what it is when an aggressor puts a hand in front of you it's a gift. In this video Mike Serr shows you several simple self defense techniques that take advantage of that exposed and open hand to inflict severe pain or break the fingers. These are must know self defense techniques.
TLDR: The video teaches how to use chin na techniques, including finger manipulation and hand trapping, to control and immobilize attackers in self-defense situations.
00:00 🥋 Learn how to use chin na to control and immobilize attackers.
01:29 🥋 The speaker shows a trapping technique using finger manipulation to bring down the opponent.
02:44 💪 Breaking fingers can stop a fight.
03:28 💪 Split attacker's fingers and tear skin between them to defend yourself.
05:03 💪 Using the pushing palm technique in self-defense can be effective in breaking the wrist or redirecting the opponent.
06:32 👋 Use a come-along technique to escort someone out of a building with the help of a teammate, using hand trapping and finger bending to control and walk them off without aggressive grabbing.
08:49 🥋 Shaolin monks and Jujitsu practitioners use finger manipulation to defend themselves and control opponents.
10:15 🍺 People in the business have slower pain response when drinking, leading to shirt grabbing and finger snapping to stop them.

Extremely effective regardless of strength and size.
Very effective. One of my favorite areas of study, bone and joint manipulation.
You should use it an learn that it's useless as the pedo scum are the law. An then game over for hurting a precious pedophile attacking you
I don't think this is actually effective. In some sort of "test" where you slowly experiment, this is great and entertaining. But in a real-world fight, you don't have people attacking you with a straight hand moving perfectly parallel to the ground. In a real-world fight, you are going to have curved fingers grabbing your clothes. You won't be able to squeeze your fingers in between the gaps in someone else's fingers.
@@michaelzoran. Hello Michael, were you able to catch the very end of the video?
It’s all about pain compliance/self defense in close quarters, and usually with an inebriated, grabbing type of adversary.
Get together with a trusted friend and practice half of these exercises for a few hours….practice with the goal of NOT hurting yourselves! You’ll know what’s up very quickly. 0:30
These are amazingly effective ( and painful) if you’re even minimally trained-the pinkie alone is extremely vulnerable.
If you dedicate some training time you’ll quickly figure out what you’re doing and these will be a welcome asset!
As you stated, probably not the best for an all out fight situation, but the hand magic is king!
Stay safe!
Not only skilled and experienced at combat, but bro is also a great speaker.
I think one important point that was left out is that once you've achieved pain compliance there's no reason to continue and to break somebody's fingers and if you decide to do so because you're trying to prove something to yourself or other people when you go to court they're going to rip you apart for saying that you are being excessively violent
He basically addressed that at 2:44.
I had learned some finger joint locks in Dan Zan Ryu Juijitsu many years ago but the ones in the video I had not trained in. Good techniques. Thank you for sharing.
I fucking cannot help but love listening to this guy explain and talk about shit it’s severely entertaining
Great video - thanks for sharing the joy of 'Finger Magic'!
Very informative and explain it very well ,thank you 👍😄
Thanx a lot ,really useful for me
Thank you SENSEI for the wonderful techniques
Love that finger split many thanks!
great lessons. My only personal observation is that I once had an ankle from a kick go between my fingers and split the skin. It was a quick shock, but if it were a real fight instead of training I could have kept fighting. I shook my hand and actually thought he caught my nail and ripped it up. It wasn't until I rinsed the area with water that I realized that my skin between the fingers was split. It took 11 stitches to close. I still have the scar from my knuckle through to about an inch into the palm. FF always has great info. I have several DVDs from them.
Great stuff
Love this ☺️works Great !👍
The second one seem more realistic and very effective thanks for the video please continue
Thanks for the tips
This is GREAT STUFF..!!
These videos are very good i am learning a lot from them thank you all and god bless you all
Excellent sir! My sifu studied briefly with Yang Jwing Ming and was very proficient with Chin Na. I am a Sheriffs Deputy and find it very useful on a regular basisi.
I have three full course (Tai Chi, Chin Na, and Shuai Jiao) of his. He makes it practical. Amazing stuff!
Good video.
Excellent material, Sir . Your comprehension and articulation on the subject of China Na, is why you are the duly designated Western emissary of the exciting field of Shaolin Chin Na. If you publish a book on the subject, with illustrations, and your savvy sense of conflict analysis, I guarantee the book will be a best Seller!
8:50 great to see Bono getting involved. ty
You guys are Great! I really appreciate everything you have messaged me. Your products & videos are awesome. Keep up the great work. Sincerely Jason M
Thanks Jason, means a lot!
Finger locks are a specialty of Aikijutsu and Small Circle Jujitsu
Correct and thanks .
As well as Atienza/Sayoc Kali systems. They taught me an excellent backwards wrist manipulation that will bring an opponent to their knees quite similarly and generally removes an opponent's will to resist you. If they do continue to resist, swing your elbow across their knuckles, which will snap the wrist as well as quite possibly snapping the elbow in the same motion. Do not try these at home without supervision because you can easily harm your training partner.
I love this demonstration, people always talk trash about small circle jujitsu on other videos, but here it is in real world style demonstration. I always knew it was effective, I even used a basic form of it myself when I was younger
Lots of knowledge in the above posts. Small-Circle principles enhance any art, and finger locks are a perfect explaination of them. The basic index finger lock in particular.
Old School Qinna Shu / Chin Na. One of the first Arts I learned.
Nice video 😂
Excellent and very useful
Thanks a lot
Great site
Thank you for the video. ❤️ I am a small, older woman who can use these techniques rather easily for self defense.
Great trick
NICE!!!
Them good moves 👍👍👍👍
We do this on Hapkido great technique
Thank you for sharing this! I have to ask? I know this is self-defense, were there any legal implications you faced afterward?
The com along the elbow should be in solor plex for better leverage and no escape
This is absolutely fantastic.Life changing.Thank you.-Malissa
You're so welcome!
Also from the handshake slide up grab the thumb snap and break or use it to bring them to their knees. 😮
Damn bad ass.
I would absolutely love to obtain some of your training DVD's, but I am Canadian and awaiting the day you guys can ship to us. In the meantime, thank you for this channel, and all the amazing insight and information.
Move from Canada the politics they are the criminals cowards
It’s not your country anymore it’s piece of shit just like Southern California Becoming a joke also but not as bad as Canada wow
There is are quite a few people I'd like to try this on.
No no no buddy. This is a self defense move. This isn't a I don't like that guy so let me use "Finger Magic" on him type of move.
Awesome ‼ I have trained in chin na‼ 👍👍👍🙏💯
Great instructional vid📶
Buy your assistant a beer
Interesting
Heck it even works mentally, thinking about breaking of hands and toes is about the only thing that makes me uncomfortable when it comes to self defense and fighting where stuff like eye poking and ear tearing is more tolerable. Willing to go there it just makes me a little iffy 😆
Are these effective, if one has wicked small hands?
My wife says thank you after learning finger magic I am a pro
😂
Or a specific situation maybe
Wow
Ouch
For me the easiest one it was the shake hands one 👌👌👌
🎉very amazing m. Home
What happens when your opponent isn’t standing there letting you do all of this?
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it can't work I just see it as low percentage when somebody grabs you they do a pretty quickly it definitely takes a lot of practice in precision and seems more like a fine motor skill what if done properly yes you can break fingers and do some damage
And what is the bad guy doing with his other hand while you have both your hands on his one arm??
He can't do anything with the other hand, he can't even reach you
Like the approach usually followed by an immediate throat strike to totally disable just don’t strike the throat too hard unless you want to kill the attacker, just three fingers driven into in with intent of striking through to attackers back of neck through throat. Vietnam was bad place and silent kill was necessary.
A friend of mine used to put people in a ball without them getting loose. The only way to get loose is for him to set them loose. He was a friend for a long time. I never ask him where he learn it. He just past away in October of 2023.
What to do to the attacker if he has brass knuckles on his throwing hand; or both hands?
Shoot him…twice.
You run .
So if people keep their hands to themselves they may not get their fingers broken?
Look for Dr. Wally Jay on RUclips or his son, I think his name is Wally Jay Jr.
Small Circle Jujitsu.
I don’t know what’s more inefficient, the suggested technique curriculum or the verbal intros to these techniques.
Blocking arm and wrist manipulation then gets fingers
I do agree and disagree, Mike, first off, overall excellent technique and execution, after over 40 years in Security and Law Enforcement including over 35 of those years as a use of force instructor, and currently still am, doing it for a living, and over 30 years bouncing night clubs and bars, I can say for a fact that the technique is extremely effective.
The reason for this is, that it creates the fear of the fingers and wrist actually breaking, that is what gives you the actual control to such a high level.
However, once the metacarpals and or carpal bones are actually fractured, the system reacts to the trauma with a sense of trauma shock and sends endorphins and natural pain blockers to that area numbing the area to a very large degree. This then reduces the pain through edema or swelling and the technique loses its effectiveness.
My personal experience is, the times when a person is in the greatest control is when their brain, believes it will receive tremendous pain due to a technique, by feeling already a high degree of pain as the technique is applied.
I have watched many people fight with broken bones, almost as hard as without. when adrenaline, alcohol, or drugs are involved. It is very true, a limb or digit will be somewhat impaired regarding usage or mobility, but regarding the pain itself, it is very rare for a person to stop fighting to tend to a broken digit or even arm or wrist. I have watched people fight with shoulder, wrist, arm, and hand injuries and not even notice, till after the conflict has ended and sometimes even hours later.
Only then, does the real pain kick in. I am very familiar with the instructor you are referring to Prof Wally Jay, who I also knew extremely well, as did my teacher and his father, but keep in mind, Prof Jay, did not control by breaking, merely by the implication and application of pain with the prospect of breaking. This is why people danced around the room and almost magically floated, because of his incredible skills.
So, in conclusion, this technique is awesome only as long as you DO NOT break anything, but only apply it up to the point of breaking. Great video Mike overall. JMO
It's exactly the point that was missing in this video, I agree 100% with your statement.
It's exactly the point that is missing in this video, I agree 100% with your statement
Extremely effective against grizzly bears.
Poor Mark....
I would think this would be extremely effective as well I went to a karate school and was sparring with their students my finger accidentally got caught in the gi pants there was extensive damage to the soft tissue and a fracture it didn't stop me from sparring and that was play if somebody broke my finger like that on purpose and it was a real fight Plus I've also been hurt other times when it happens especially if you're drunk you don't feel it like you do the next day you pull that against somebody that legitimately knows how to hurt you it's going to just piss them off
Had an old guy reach out to shake my hand and he pulled my index finger out of its socket and it only took him like two seconds to do it, funny thing is there was no hostility between us so I didn't even expect he was gonna do it. Seems he thought I was incouraging his granddaughter to sneak out at night lol.Turned out alright though, went to the hospital and the Dr. Put it back. Didn't hurt at first but by the time I got to the ER I was crying like a baby lol. Moral of the story, be leary of old men that want to shake hands LOL!😉👍
use this against cops trying to grab you.
I'm watching the video and wondering what happens if the opponent decides to do something with his left hand and arm..... like stick you in the eyes.
from how i practice, id never put too much emphasis on locking a person's finger. the point of chin na is to cause pain in milliseconds. the bouncer got his own particular style.
This dude just screams ‘steven segal’.
I’ve done a lot of security and door work. This stuff can work but I’ve snapped the fingers of people high on drugs and it doesn’t always have the desired effect, in fact one guy literally laughed after I snapped his fingers and the only technique that made him stop fighting was a good rear naked choke
Can't we all just get along?
I’ve been doing Brazilian jujitsu judo street for 40 years almost. If you know what I know and you go into a fight like a wild animal also I know when people touch me I don’t care whether it’s soft or hard it doesn’t make a damn bit of difference I’m pulling that out of there I’m attacking so I love what you’re saying I like learning it but don’t kill yourself also no the real people it doesn’t work
I would have to add the ole kick in the balls technique after I lock a big guys fingers 'cause I"m sure he's not gonna go down that easy...for self defense purposes of course.
If I were using these self defense maneuvers ; I wouldn’t tell him/her to go to the ground; I would instead go for a permanent injury; or a kill!
This shit is fucking horrific. I have watched a bouncer at a Club. I worked at tear the webbing of someone’s hand, and it made me throw up.
Thank you Mark. That did not look fun for you.
Joint manipulation is a tually more effective than punches or kicks& you don't have to be real skilled to apply them.females in particular should learn this, coupled with using a weapon.
Can’t some just sock you in the face with their other hand tho?
Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth .
Mike Tyson
sorry me i sleep
buahahaha
I don't think this is actually effective. In some sort of "test" where you slowly experiment, this is great and entertaining. Ohhhh,
so you just need the speed and dexterity to grab people's hands as they are trying to grab you .... easy
or have the space to back up after they grab you... super possible all the time
I have never seen anyone aggressively handshake like that. I have seen people go from handshaking to punching with the other hand. The side step is good, granted
or distract them " ls that Megan Fox" then grab them ....easy.
these are "tricks for cops and Bouncers who like to sucker punch people.
thy teaching techniques for fights
I apply finger magic to violent women. I don't even wait.
Oh yeah break the fingers when they’re a little drunk instead of use the beauty of Judo Jujitsu why not😂😅😅 no class and there’s only a small art Of truth for people that I’m tough to play games
I heard a lot of China haters say that Chinese martial arts don't work. They said only UFC fighting styles work because they said it is proven. Well, this is a Chinese martial arts and there are a lot of Chinese martial art techniques being used in the UFC, too many instances of them being used for me to count! Anyway, most loudmouth non-martial artist, UFC fanboys don't realize that just about all of the Chinese martial arts are not designed for sport, but rather for self protection it a situation where you are simply trying to save your own life by using some techniques that have been designed and proven for many hundreds of years to work in helping somebody to save their own life by using some techniques that are some of the best you could use to save your own life in a situation where you must fight back in order to survive! Chinese martial arts are just one of many styles that could be used in a fight to save your life it shouldn't be degraded just because it isn't designed by white people and the Chinese never say white people's martial arts don't work like so many white people say about Chinese martial arts!
I don't know that this guy should be recommending breaking hands or fingers. You can get in big legal problems. Hand surgery and hand injury can destroy a person's life..
These techniques are for the battlefield
That will teach them to keep their hands to themselves
Between a lawsuit and a perforated liver ill take the lawsuit
@@tomaspabon2484. I agree Tom.
Anyone could train their nine and twelve year old kids ( in the living room )about the simple effects of pain compliance , in about 2 hours.
They’d figure it out with minimal effort, or injury, and could have an awesome natural tool for self defense.
Why is it guys who teach this always use someone smaller than them...
And two you most likely aren't going to do any of this.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Creepy guy
It is dumb - no one I know in a street fight is going to reach out with fingers
Very short humerus, small ears, large stomache, kinda like the guy who calls itself the rock. teaching what? Chinese majik?
