    Great Review! Sondors have been a game changer for me, I'm 60 and a bit overweight. I have ridden my Original over 15000 miles in the last 5 years, Lost over 50 Lbs (I do not pedal much although since getting my newer Sondors with 7 speeds I do now pedal a lot more) The bike rides and holds a charge as good today as the day I got it. I have explored trails and areas I thought I was done exploring, I have made lots of new friends (Sondors are a real conversation starter) I am much healthier and happier than I was 5 years ago and my life has improved by leaps and bounds. So Thank You! Sondors and CONGRATS on your continued success!

    I have a Biria that I purchased new from a local shop. It has the key lock in battery and the rubber plug also. I can tell you around here they are a godsend. I live in a boardwalk district which is where I do most of my riding. Because it's crazy crowded here at restaurants and shops during the summer, sometimes you have to fold it down to park it if you stop at an outdoor restaurant. The key lock in keeps you from having the battery stolen while it's parked in the folded state. Underneath my rubber plug (mine doesn't fully separate from the frame, it's more like a "cover") I have a charger port, power switch and a USB outlet. All of my lights are USB chargeable and obviously my phone is. I ran my battery down to one bar and was still able to charge my A51 Samsung from 10 to 100 percent with the bike battery on a single bar. It doesn't even put a dent in it. A USB port on your battery is a godsend.

    Thanks for the great review! I'm currently comparing this beast and the MATE X which costs in Europe about 600 more bucks, and this was great to watch and brought me a lot of new info!
    btw just to add some info into the key on the battery... you might not understand it naturally and that might be because you were brought up in a safer environment... Where I'm from, having a key to lock one of the most expensive parts of the bike and prevent it from being stolen, is always a great feature! Batteries cost between 150 and 300 euros and they can disappear quite quickly in some south European countries where salaries are much lower than the northern ones or even the States or Canada... if you didn't know, Now You Know. 😂!

      Hi Joao ! I'm currently in the exact same position you were before. I'm really hesitating between the Sonders XS and the Mate X (clone of the Rattan if I'm not mistaking). My concern is about the service cse I heard A LOT of awful experiences with these two last bike brands. How long did you have to wait before getting the bike. Was it 100% ok and in the event something happens can you get spare fast enough? I know lots of questions, and these are only the main ones... lol Thx if you can give any input about this. Have a great one !

    Fabulous review! You answered all the questions I had that other reviewers left out, I appreciate that. Twenty mph should be more than enough speed for most of my needs, but if I need some extra zip and speed, I hope the speed ceiling is adjustable? I love the rack and fenders, accessorizing this bike for my individual needs is a plus also, I had basically given up my hopes of purchasing a foldable Ebike, but now I’m back in the market thanks to your review, thanks again!

    How important is the 750 watt motor versus the 500 watt motor for $700 less? I would use this bike for joy riding and errands around town, and some local trails. No serious mountain biking.

But it gets me back and forth from work and home on one charge which is a 15 mile round trip. Winter time battery is cut down big time. Going to see if I can get a battery run back pad to wrap around the battery part of the bike to keep it warm so it won't drop power so much. But it's worth getting.

A 250W motor version with a max pedal assist speed of 25 km/h for the "bike" version, and a 750W motor for the "moped" version (but this version will require registration and insurance and won't be able to drive on bike Lanes in France).

    The newest batch will only be able to be programed at 25mph same as the Fold X, however I did had a 25 amp controller and LCD 3 display and can take the 750 off the line and it top speed now it hits 26 miles an hour. Stock at read 25.3, however I was looking for low end torque not top speed obviously you have to do other things for that I work at a bike shop and build custom e-bikes so when we get these 750s in and I program them to top speed or the old ones for programmable to 30 which puts it at 28 mph the new ones are programmed at 25 mph which puts it at well 25 mph. Also Dragon fly has covers that snap in place. But has a door so you will not ever loose the cap.

    sondors is actually one of the most known ebike co. in the world still . they started on a fund-me site and still like that. are you Really going to Fold your bike ? statistics say most ppl seldom if ever do fold. The folding frame adds a good 10 plus lbs to your bike . Not to mention making the cockpit limiting and hard to handle for many . so many rigs out here ,same price or , better specs, better cust service, better build, higher speed ..

    • @Not2Far2Go
      @Not2Far2Go 4 года назад +6

      I thought I would reply to your post because I own 2 of these and can speak directly to all of your concerns. First, yes I am going to fold it. We live full time in an RV and folding it is what we needed. If you don't need to fold it, there are plenty of other choices, this review happens to be about a folding one. Second, it is heavy, but so are all Ebikes, even the ones that don't fold yet are very popular, think Super 73, Rad bikes, Juiced, etc., which are all 60 plus pounds. Third, there is plenty of adjustment in the bike to not make the cockpit limiting at all. I'm 5' 10" and my wife is 5' 3" and both of us fit easily with room to expand in both directions for smaller or larger individuals. Fourth, If you do a little research you will see that the bikes that match these specs are all very similarly priced. If you drop to a 500-watt motor with no front suspension, Sondors has one and Lectric has one for $900 - $1000 but most are close to the price of this Sondors model. I found their customer service to be excellent. I ordered the non-suspension 500-watt version and the front suspension forks separate which turned out to not be very good, Sondors refunded my money for the forks immediately. Better built? Not that I have seen. Most of the bikes in this class use identical parts so it comes down to the frame construction and it is as solid and well made as any I have seen and test road, which was a lot of them before I committed to my purchasing the Sondors. Last, of course there are models that are faster but they are not a class 2 bicycle which by law is capped at 20 mph. Lectric bikes do have a code you can put in to increase their speed, but then if you're using it in the city and on sidewalks you would be breaking the law. I don't really care if you do that and are careful, I'm just pointing it out. I am happy with the decision to purchase the bike and I think if you're in the market for one of these style bikes, you would be too.

    I've owned a Sondors Fold XS for a while now. Something Ithink that you may want to discuss:how Tesla's safety features will influence bike riding safety. Bikes are safe, but bike riders are endangered by unsafe cars. The increase in safety that will come with increased use of Tesla's could really change this. Right now a lot accidents that involve cars and bikes barely get reported. When you see Teslas become more accessible, car drivers will become less reluctant around changing the laws and reporting procedures here and the US can move towards a lot more bike safety.

    Thanks for the review. I've been thinking about ordering one of these bikes.
    About the locking battery: the first time you get your $400 battery stolen you'll understand why it's a good idea to lock the battery. You may not have sub-humans existing in your area, but around here they're everywhere.

    They should work on designing a rear rack that can extend to the sides giving an additional 4". two on each side. the current rack looks too narrow.
    so basically a collapsible rack. don't think I've seen that on any of these ebikes or regular bikes with rear racks.

    Known brands: Inmotion, KingSong, Gotway.
    I switched from scooter (Xiaomi m365) to unicycle (Inmotion V8) one year ago and it's amazing.

      Those only have the same 750W motor as this bike. I wouldn't get an e-dirt bike like that unless its packing at least 3000 watts, and they are coming. I have a Fold XS on order and will upgrade once the more powerful bikes become available. Even the Super73 RX can barely climb hills.

      Yes. Very easy to reconfigure the speed limiter to 25mph. I used RUclips Sondors Fold X owners videos as a guide.

    After you fold it can you push/walk it?

    • @nycliontwin24
      @nycliontwin24 4 года назад +1

      No. The fold was designed so you won't need a heavy duty car rack to transport it or to save space if you don't have a garage to keep it in. It's too heavy and bulky to move it around folded. Not for public transportation use.

    I was wondering, I saw the review of the SONDORS folding XS. It seem real nice and sturdy. I was also looking at the AVENTON Sinch e bike, sort if similar in price and features but the SONDORS says it has 750W motor? But the Aventon claims to have 750W also but that is peak power. I was hoping SONDORS was 750w normal power because I’m a bigger guy? Thanks!

    • @vintagemxer9165
      @vintagemxer9165 4 года назад +1

      Huge negative - Aventon no throttle only from dead stop. That alone makes it a deal-breaker.

    HEY ZACK AND JESSE! it would be awesome if you could make a mini series, kinda like Elon The Disruptor.
    Except it would be about renuable energy, why it's better environmentally, economically, and practically. And compare it to coal, nuclear, and gas power plants.

    • @clmdcc
      @clmdcc 4 года назад +2

      Would be interesting should they be honest about nuclear, and not go with the fossil lobby propaganda. Perhaps looking at nuclear optimally used for base load, but recognizing that nuclear dont like being constantly throtled up and down, and how nuclear too would benefit from demand smoothing provided by powerwalls, and how solar+wind+ nuclear could quickly get enough battery support to go fully CO2 neutral for the grid and then transport sector. Even super container ships that CO2 pollute a lot could go nuclear like carriers and save money and the enviroment.

    • @zolotech_3771

      @@clmdcc nuclear is expensive though. And it isn't as safe as renewable energy, just look at Chernobyl or Fukishima. And what about nuclear waste?

      @@zolotech_3771 Hi Zolotech, Nuclear waste can be deposited safely in a old mine, the data from Gabon(where a natural nuclear reactor formed for 2 billion years ago) showed that nuclear waste is quite stable, and despite being in a underground river had not been dispersed and thus had not contaminated a large area.
      And it would have been great had chernobyl been designed to not explode like most nuclear power plants.
