Aww, your comment really warms my heart. She's a great Mom, I feel lucky to have her in my life and enjoyed this little adventure... she's got a lot of energy and excitement! Was neat to see her test the bikes out a bit :D
To prevent crossthreading as you experienced, always rotate BACKWARDS until you feel the "click" that are the threads dropping into place. You can even go around a few times to note where the click is happening, and get your alignment just right. Going backwards like this helps you align the parts properly, then after the click, rotating forwards to start to engage, and then tighten the threads, will be much surer.
My wife and I have had our Fold-X, 7 speed for almost a year and have almost 1000 km on them both. We were really worried about the width of the frame after we purchased the bikes but before we received them. We have say the width of the frame has never been an issue for me (6’) nor my wife (5’4”). As a matter of fact we feel really comfortable on them. The only issue we’ve had is I broke the throttle about 2 months ago when I was folding the handlebars but Sondors replaced it for free!
@@shailanegron I have the 48 volt, 14 amp with an upgraded controller. Throttle only figure on 20-25 miles, pedaling with the motor on level 2 or 3 like 50+ miles.
Looked around Bafang's website and Google . . . can't seem to locate a service center in the US? So when you're on your own after 30 days where can you take a motor on the fritz?
Sondors should have a better support network before they sell bikes. Owners group sometimes has contradictory info--I have a defective LCD at level 5 assist--no response from Sondors.
EBR, I am torn between the Sondors X Fold and the Lectric XP. Any advice on which bike would be a better "bang for your buck", would be appreciated. If you can please make a comparison video. I love your videos. You make everything clear and in detail. Thank you for any advice!
Congratulations for this amazing review and for having such a sweet mom. Using also your mom as a reference let me appreciate the proportions of the bike. However, I have hard time finding the right e-bike for us. I watch almost all your videos and some of the bikes are out of my budget but there´s some that can be considered. What I´m looking for? Well, I´m a cyclist and my average ride are around 35 to 40 miles leg powered rides, I will like to ride with my wife but she Is not a cyclist. The average speed on my rides is 15-20mph. Honestly I never used an e-bike before and I don´t know to much about pedal assist mode and also I´m thinking that the best option for us is an e-bike with a throttle option in the case that she or my son get tired pedaling on the way back. My current budget $2400 - I would like an e-bike that have a nice distance range decent weight and looks good. Which bicycle I consider? Well, there is several bikes but because of the experience you have on this I´m looking for the bes options. I consider: FLX Roadster MS2 XC sport max Yamaha Crosscore Or two Sondors Fold as feature on this video (because of the price) The biggest concern about the Fold bike is the millage range - It can meet My usual speed and distance mentioned above? Thanks a lot for any recommendation... PS; Great Channel
Unfortunate that it has Shimano Tourney. But they are building it to a pretty affordable price. It’s still fairly impressive considering what it costs. It definitely looks more expensive than it is.
I see a lot of value priced models with Tourney, some have moved to Altus and many offer 7 speeds but a similar spread of 14 to 28. The gearing here worked well enough, I agree that the bike looks great... bigger and tougher than a lot of other folding models
Okay looking into this one now.. problem is delivery when you cannot hear well over the phone and shipping companies refuse to use email.. that was my experience with Amego bikes they would not deliver my bike even knowing I was here from 10-5 everyday and security here is 24/7 and was aware of the bike arriving and would have signed for it if it was in my out hours.. so they refused to deliver it.. am now looking for a company that is more reliable for those with hearing problems
Would like to see the information panel put lower on the stem instead of the handle bar. It would be out of the way when changing tires or fixing a flat. Or even adjusting the derailer and brakes. I have do this or my Radpower mini and makes it much easier.
I have the Sondors Fold Z (Sport) and my motor just gave out and Sondors isn't replying to ANY of my emails. Can anyone help me with getting a replacement rear wheel and motor?
Checked their website and they only seem make the all terrain folder now not the ordinary wheeled one. the bulkiness of those almost defeats the purpose of a folder.
I am neebie to your site I am a big fan of the Electric Bike. I am looking at the Sondors X or the new one that is coming out on Tuesday. I am wondering can you do a video on locks like the Linka that will fit fat tires.
I've owned 6 e-bikes and the Fold XS is my favorite. The upgraded crankset, hydraulic brakes and 750W motor make a significant improvement over the Fold X (which I also own)
correction. the sondors website offers almost zero direct support. there is no "live" chat. your request for help directs you to the facebook group......
Nothing, Bafang developed the design just for the Sondors bike originally, but sell it to any manufacturer in many different power configurations. What is proprietary is the communication protocol between the LCD and controller.
You mentioned extreme heat and cold impacting the charge of an E-Bike's battery. In your experience how much of an impact does extreme heat have in terms of battery life and mileage? I live where the average summer temperature is 102 °F and have been thinking of investing in an e-bike but this has been one of my primary concerns. The sondors fold is my first choice right now too.
Heat is something to be concerned about, for sure. When riding, the battery should be ok and in fact will be working with a little more zip in hot weather (vs cold weather). But avoid charging the battery in very hot weather (a hot garage), just bring it inside to charge. Typically, very hot weather while riding will increase the chance of motor damage rather than battery damage. Particularly if the motor is stressed (i.e. hill climbs or using the assist a lot). If the motor becomes so hot you cannot place your hand on it, it's time to find some shade and let it cool off a bit. But an ebike ride in the heat with that 10 to 20mph headwind feels great.
Based on your excellent video, and others, I bought the Sondors FOLD X. I love the bike--but Sondors has miserable customer service! You have to start an e-mail ticket for which they promise a 1-2 business day response. (I am 6 days into waiting for a response) Sondors has abrogated their post-sale responsibility to the Sondors owners FaceBook page--but you get a range of responses there. Bottom line--I wish I had bought another brand
55lbs...that's well over that most full-size bikes. I much prefer the behind-the-seat-tube battery mounting position for folders. The down tubes just get too wide with batteries in them. Also requires so much more metal in the frame, adding weight.
Very true, this model is heavy and a bit overbuilt compared to many competing products. I like the way it looks and feel that the frame is probably a bit more sturdy... the cast rims are great too, but it does weigh more. I tried to cover the trade-offs with this type of frame, like the knee bump situation.
First thing I do is get rid of Logos on the bikes. One is i don't feel I should be giving away free advertisement and Two is Thieves love Logos and know what kind of bike you have for sure. I Prefer the Fat Tire Version. looks like a bike should, the blue one looks like an extended version withe an Extra Body Length. Don't like the body of the blue one :o/ Looks Weirdly long. Now maybe if they put the fat tires on the longer slimmer blue one it would look alot better. Thanks for the video.
Got a Jetson Pro Ebike from Costco for $299 looks better than this :P and a 350W motor and a 18Mph speed 30 mile range. Market is very competitive nowadays for eBikes make sure you shop around.
There is not a bicycle on the planet worth $1000, electric or not! The prices these companies are charging for a $200 bike is ridiculous! You are doing a great dis-service to your audience promoting these ripoffs!
I don’t know how us future ebike owners could effectively shop without EBR . Your videos are an asset to the community.
so true
God bless your mom for raising such fine man

Love my Sondors Fold X. Great for all season biking.
I use it the most in the wintertime, just lower your tire pressure in snowy conditions.
I told you long ago to review the fold as you know! These bikes are a Value!
There's only one place where I get information about electric bikes. I love the passion for these bikes. It comes across in the videos.
You're mom is so cute! I have the fold mini and my mom loved it when she rode it. 💕

I love my fold x as well, haven't had a problem with hitting the frame either.
@@shailanegron I have the 48 volt, 14 amp with an upgraded controller. Throttle only figure on 20-25 miles, pedaling with the motor on level 2 or 3 like 50+ miles.
yeah how far can you go on this?
Those bikes look so awesome. Hey Rad Power Bikes, take a look at those nice bright colors. That would be a nice change from your drab colored models.
I bought the Sondors Fold X. Love love the bike but the 15a controller was just eeeehhh so I put a 25a in it and it came alive😁😁
Well done. Took my Fold X .... HOU, ANC, YYT, HOU....last summer....am blessed.
Thanks for that review!! That was awesome
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it, Robert :D

That will change as the have more market in US. Sounds like a business prospect for somebody.
Currently they have no service centers, but the Sondors Qwners Group on FB has a wealth of information.
Sondors should have a better support network before they sell bikes. Owners group sometimes has contradictory info--I have a defective LCD at level 5 assist--no response from Sondors.

Hi Very Kool Bike !!! Where is this sold ? I dont see it on the website ?? The Blue one you have in this Video where is the sold ??
I don't see that blue one Fold Sport? on Sonder's website. Discontinued?
Like the red one
Me too, it looks beautiful and the big tires are comfortable ... but I do like the wiring and the rims on the Sport model :)
I was considering this xs model but I've been hearing to much about knees hitting the upper bar ?!

Hey im just wondering how u find the folding aspect with thr fold as iv read that they are tough to fold and unfold
Can these bikes hold up with bigger riders?
