Thanks for watching!! Many are wondering why I didn't start the boughs from the bottom for better rain/snow runoff. Yes I started at the top on purpose. In order for the boughs to stay where they are put without the use of cordage or anything else, they need to be stuffed into each other so that the needles and twigs of the boughs can interlock and create a more stable outer layer, with no worry of any blowing away or falling out of place. You can achieve the same amount of runoff by stuffing each bough, from top-down, underneath the one above it, and then smoothing out the upper bough above the one you've stuffed under it.

I like the way you set up and started the fire at your camp and hope you are able to find enough material to finish covering your shelter. You have your traveling companion well trained and he knows how to hug. Your food is looking good and must be very delicious also and gives me ideas. Your shelter is looking good and it is nice that you are nearly complete with putting it together, and your companion don't want to move as he has found himself a nice bed to lay in.
That is one happy dog!

I lost my father in March of last year, he was an avid outdoorsman and was always out winter camping, summer camping and mountain bike riding. Your videos have helped me restore my love for the outdoors and I cannot wait to get my son and dog camping more this summer in the bush. I definitely can relate, my adrenaline and motivation to get out and explore often takes away my hunger at the beginning of a hike or hunt. Later, you realize oh how good food tastes when you’ve pushed yourself!

Awesome video!! Walking in snow saps the life right out of you. The 1.5 mile hike back to my shelter saps my legs in the winter, then I eat something and want to take a serious nap!! Looked like you could have used a nice warm cup of coffee to get you going again. For a second I thought you were nodding off sitting in your chair. Thanks for sharing the adventure - I always enjoy watching them!! Can't wait until the next one....

That bough hut is coming along nicely. A little trick I always use to tell apart spruce from fir is to take one of the needles and roll it between my fingers.If it doesn't roll easily and it is kind of flat, it's a fir. If it does roll easily, it's a spruce. :)
Yeah, spruce has roundish needles all round and Fir has flat needles, but they are also all around the twig. and then Flat needles in flat formation across the twig are Hemlock :)
Love what you do. You make fire starting look so easy and being in the Wilderness has to be the greatest getaway from the hustle of life.

Great job on the shelter Careena! I can totally see how the sled in the crunchy snow would be a tough slog. Beef stew slow cooked in a fire, the best! Using a good brew in a stew is a great next step ( maybe on the return, lol). Glad to see Grizz still playing the role of forest rocket! Thanks for the vid!
