    I use a forever potpourri I got from Sweet Harvest farms. They are aroma beads, lemon peel, vintage buttons, sea shells, polished glass, and shell bits. You pour them into a shallow but wide dish or silver platter, not wood. When they need refreshed pour it back into the jar it came in and pour your desired amount of refresher oil over them. Place the lid back on tightly and shake until the beads are coated. Leave closed for 48 hours. Pour back into dish. They plan to discontinue the jars but plan to keep the refresher oils. I chose Lime in De Coconut. You can get aroma beads elsewhere and decorations and use your own blends. I've used Plant Therapy. Heidi Villegas recommends them as well as Rocky Mountain Oils, Starwest Botanicals, Amrita Aromatics, Aromatics International, Pompeii Organics, and Florihana. She does say that they aren't the only good companies out there. Take a look at each of them and choose one that works for you. She has a video on 12 Criteria for Choosing an Essential Oil Company.

    Great video, Yes do your research Essential oils are wonderful, been using them for 15 or so years. I use them in my salves, body butter, face oil, shampoo, hand sanitizer, mouth spray, diffuse, cleaning products 😂 same as you I make my most my own concoctions, Wintergreen (mixed with castor oil) for sore muscles and joints, peppermint, lemon and lavender for allergies, immune “blend” for when we think sickness is going around, tea tree oil for acne and cold sores. Lemon grass for skin condition. And the list goes on. And yes I do belong to one of the well known MLM’s but I don’t get sucked up into selling and making a”monthly goal” just did my research on what quality I felt safe using for my families needs. And share what personally works for me and mine. Love learning from others.

    I enjoy all your videos. You are very knowledgeable and careful. Old school almost a forgotten art. The comments about the companies are so true, especially when they are bought out or go into different directions. They have a good product then they change it or whatever!!! Some of your videos are too advanced for me or I would never put in all that energy or even be able to use all that stuff. I get tired just watching!!! They still are very good even if I have to watch in parts or twice or so to get it!!! 😂🎉❤

    I have been doing essential oils for quite sometime. The only one I ingest is food grade peppermint. I use it to settle my stomach too making toothpaste. The others I use in my salves, yes they r very strong, but they can be used to preserve items, such as clothes soap, lotions and soaps. The only time I diffuse is when I have a sinus attack, but I put the oils in water and let it run at night in my bedroom. It has helped me. I also rub a small bit of coconut oil and rosemary, frankincense on my face when I do my lymphatic massage that has really helped also. They are more powerful then herbs in my opinion. Great video,Heidi.

    My first real experience with essential oils was in 2000. I had injured the ulna nerve in my elbow and had lost feeling in my arm and hand. The doctors weren't sure if it would be permanent or not. Someone online suggested I try lavender oil telling me it helped nerves regenerate. My aunt made soap and had some so I borrowed a bottle from her and started rubbing it straight on my elbow and wrist. I didn't know about using a carrier oil so its a good thing that lavender can be used straight. After just about 4 or 5 times I started having more feeling in the arm and hand and the pain was less. I kept using it and within a month was completely healed. I then used it on my back aches and any where I had arthritis pain. It has been my favorite oil for the past 24 years although I use a lot of oils now.

    Love it! Thank you, Heidi! I TOTALLY agree about MLMs....I refuse to patronize them, if I'm aware. I pretty much only use Now and Plant Therapy oils. They're both reasonably priced and I haven't been disappointed by their quality. Glad you covered Vitacost....I subscribe to several things from Vitacost, but have never tried their oil brand. So, thanks!

    I do buy some food grade essential oils, (orange, lemon, peppermint and cinnamon) sold in the candy section of many stores. My first essential oils for skin use came in a beautiful little box with about 9 tiny one ounce bottles of blends which I used in soaps. I also wanted to get away from blends and I watched one of your videos on EO and purchased 4 oz (I think) bottles of NOW in single scents. I make a bug spray with avocado oil, lemon grass, citronella and eucalyptus. It works great and I can use it on my great grandchildren safely. I put it in a spray bottle, spritz my hands and rub it on them. I also make bath salts with Epsom salts, baking soda and a dropper full of the EO I want. I am out of this and need to make more. Along with these are the salves I make and the oil I use depends on what I will use it for. I also started out thinking that essential oils was going to be all I needed in my medicine cabinet and boy was I wrong. I use more herbs than EO, but they still have their place. Thanks Heidi! Shalom, shalom.

    Thanks for the good information. You are my go-to in so many areas. 😊 I love the NOW brand and buy the oils and a few vitamin supplements at my favorite Mennonite store. I have done a bit of looking at those unmentioned multi-level marketers…they seem to get off into the weeds so much. (No pun intended) They attribute all kinds of even spiritual essence to their oils. That was all I needed to stay away from them. I also noticed as you mentioned, they really push ingesting them. We gotta do our homework. I know I’ve been too gullible in the past. Thanks again for your thorough research and sharing what you know!

    Thank you so much for this video. I have a good well meaning friend who is with a MLM and is pushing me to ingest bleeding heart flower essence e.o. Out of about 7 herbal books I have, only one even mentions bleeding heart and warns about ingesting as it acts as an opiod. I refused her based on if it was so good, more would be in the books. Thanks also for reassuring that some of the more affordable brands are just as good too. 😊 Have a great day!

    At my annual checkup my provider & I were talking about alternative methods (she's not a ND or functional medicine, but she is open minded). She was happy to hear that I found a website where I could check for interactions, as she's had patients end up with serious problems (organ failure, for one) when they didn't check, but she said she has access to more information than I do, so let her know what I'm using so she can make sure there are no negative interactions. And she mentioned quality was important so be careful of brands, I told her I generally use Now, and she was fine with that. For someone trained in allopathic medicine to say that, I think, is a pretty good endorsement.

    I did a lot of research on EO's several years ago. I always use extreme caution with dealing with them, especially with a house full of dogs. IMO, it's just another tool that can be used to deal with SOME issues. I'm one who always dilutes with carrier oils of some sort or another. And I NEVER USE PACHOLLI! I absolutely hate the smell of that stuff 🙂 I also use hydrosols. I use Eden's Garden (one the first that I found - at the time - 2016, that listed the good and the bad of each oil), Plant Therapy (I really liked them, until they went off the deep end and started selling everything under the sun), and Now Foods.

    I use Mountain Rose herbs, Bulk apothecary and Eden botanical essential oils (does anyone use them?). I cannot afford Doterra anymore, although I enjoyed them. Mountain Rose herbs has the best Benzoin that I mix with fractionated coconut oil in a roller ball as a mosquito repellant. Works great and smells like vanilla.😊

    Hi Heidi, I love your skin creams and have purchased many of them. I love your videos!!! You are a God sent for many of us! I was wondering if organic olive oil is good to make oil infused herbs for making the salves? I thought that avocado oil went rancid quicker? I have also read that jojoba oil lasts for over 5 years! It is also very expensive! As is castor oil. I didn’t see a video on that. Thank you kindly.

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  2 месяца назад +3

      I have never used or studied anything about jojoba so I cannot say much about it other than it is commonly used with essential oils. As far as infusing, avocado oil will have a much better shelf left than olive oil. Olive oil can go rancid quickly if exposed to heat but avocado does not, that is why I use that one for my oil infusions

    I am in a mlm-for pet products, not oils-solely for the rebate. I feed two 140 pound dogs and the food is great quality but pricey. In the end I pay the same as I would pay for an overprocessed, off-the-shelf food, and these two get a high quality kibble mixed in with their fresh food. It also makes it easier for their caregivers when we have to leave them. No minimums or quotas. I get the percentage the company would have to pay a big box store and the additional staff-sales reps, marketing, delivery, merchandisers, etc. I’m not saying I have 100% trust in the company, but I trust the product they make, much more than I trust the big companies that adulterate pet foods with heaven knows what, all in the name of science.

    Hi Heidi QUESTION: If I understood correctly you briefly mentioned "botulism" when speaking of herbal infused oils. I have had dried calendula infused in jojoba oil and also a jar with avocado oil for going on a year, these are to make face sauves. I had understood that as long as the herb stays in the oil if usually holds up. I do understand that oils can go rancid but is botulism a concern? I would love your thoughts! Thank you!!!

    • @RainCountryHomestead

      I think there are a few old school ones that are not so bad, or at least they were not years ago. I do not remember Avon or others being like many you see today but generally speaking, the only ones that truly profit are the top 1%. MLMs, though they deny being pyramid schemes, they still are just that because of how the top 1% feeds off those on the bottom and the push for signing people up. It is all about getting those downlines in order to make a profit and the ones on the bottom of the pyramid lose the most, including friends and family relationships
