Lavender, mint, eucalyptus, and lemon are all my favorites. Lavender just calms me down. Mint is for when I want to stay awake. Eucalyptus is for when I'm tired. Lemon is for when I'm feeling good. :)
@@hasnaat8123 Mint contains menthol, which binds to your cold receptors and increases their sensitivity. This causes the affected area to feel as if it is colder, which triggers a response from you body suggesting the possibility of danger. Because your body suspects danger, it prepares for fight or flight by releasing epinephrine (or adrenalin) and cortisol. These hormones increase alertness, dilate the blood vessels, and raise the heart rate. This is what causes you to feel awake. It's similar to pinching yourself or listening to loud music to stay up, because it basically just coerces your body into releasing hormones that keep you alert.
Hi is your lavender oil sweet smelling? I just bought some and I does not smell as I expected. Also do you know anything about red lavender oil and is it safe for hair?
"Taking 3.5 mL of undiluted oil can be fatal. Signs of eucalyptus poisoning might include stomach pain and burning, dizziness, muscle weakness, small eye pupils, feelings of suffocation, and some others. Eucalyptus oil can also cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea."
Glad that you are no longer promoting one of the MLM brands of oils. Many of them promote things that are not correct, like you mentioned...ingesting certain oils. Thanks for stepping up your game!!
I can’t comment on that company specifically because I do not know their structure. But basically it is a company that gives commissions to various levels, rather than just having someone by wholesale and then sell at retail. Hopefully that clears it up. If not, you may need to do your own research.
Thanks so much. I clicked on this skeptically, thinking you were going to be against what's natural, but you really taught me something, and it makes perfect sense!!
Getting a certification or training on aromatherapy is a great idea. And, it needs to come from an institute that is NOT affiliated with a direct sales or MLM business. In fact, training out of Great Britain is the Yale school of aromatherapy.
Use them in moderation and safely. We use them with some things like sore muscles, sinus congestion, or just for their therapeutic properties. Just went through an essential oil course, I enjoy learning about them.

Please be very careful with tea tree oil. I used to use it a lot for ringworm, athlete's foot, first aid, and for cleaning. I did so for many years with no issues, however all of a sudden I developed a very severe allergy to it. why would you mix eucalyptus and peppermint, that's like chewing spearmint, and peppermint gum at the same time, there's such little difference between the two, it's utterly pointless!
To Nika N: it’s in a diffuser n I think it’s like 2 cups of clean water , n I put 10 eucalyptus drops n five of the rosemary. But if I want it really strong I put a couple of drops of each oil until I get the smell I want. After that I sit next to it n inhale n relax 😌 n enjoy the moment.
Also adding these 2 oils to ur shampoo help ur hair grow 👍🏻 it’s amazing. Great smell nice sensation on the scalp n softens up the hair + hair growth. In a big Shampoo bottle 5 drops of eucalyptus oil n 10 of rosemary. In a regular shampoo bottle 5 rosemary n 3 eucalyptus drops.

Be cautious! My husband liked how he slept better with lavender essential oil. He started developing a blister inside his nose and the doctor gave him antibiotics for the wound. He developed C. Diff, a week in the hospital and a non healing anal fistula and a Crohn's flare that was life threatening. The nose blister kept getting worse too. I found out he was sticking the oil inside his nose! This very expensive and soul crushing year was all due to him burning his soft tissues with straight, undiluted oil
Can you clarify, your husband contracted C.Diff and then was put on antibiotics? Because C.Diff is an intestinal issue from some folks taking too many antacids etc... so you are not saying that he got C. Diff from essential oils,no?
Dr Josh I have been watching your videos and I have a question on Oregano 🌿 oil, you said it can be ingested 4 drops 4 times a day for 10 days; you said it has lots of benefits killing bad bacteria; and applied on the nails with fungus will kill them ( I understand it has to be deluded with coconut oil to put on the skin. Ok this is easy to understand but can you clear the ingestion, and if I drink it as prescribed by you will it help to kill the fungi on the nails as well 😊 Looking forward for your kind answer 🌈🙏 Paulina 🌼
Peter Florentzou yes, Magnesium is wonderful. I took magnesium for most of my pregnancy and it helped tremendously. I have type one diabetes and tend to get a sore back or sore muscles or even problems with relaxing. The magnesium helps with all of those things.
Hello Dr. Axe. I have been interested in essential oils for about a few years now. The few I know about have really helped me so much. I really learned a lot by your videos. Thanks again for everything you do!! :)
Kerry Kida you're not going to like my response but I'm going to tell you anyway ....i learned aromatherapy with a guy who in the 1970s went to France to study real perfume making with the experts. ... later he added the title aromatherapy to his business cards . .I got to smell what these real oils are like and the majority of the stuff in all those health food stores is synthetic and or inferior or water down with other oils . if you're really really serious your best bet is to get the money together or get student loans... it probably would cost a lot to go to the perfumery school in France. ... the only reason I say that is because even if you study with a so-called professional aromatherapist.. .. you don't know how much they do or do not really know . ....some of these people are crackpots and have never smelt all of the real oils ... . ..so some of them don't even know what it is that THEY don't know... if you understand what I'm saying. ...... just us too many people in America have never even had a real Pizza... they think going to Domino's, Papa John's ,Little Caesars , all those places have fake pizza ... .... they are loaded with chemicals, and preservatives and some even put high fructose corn syrup in the dough and the sauces. ... and don't even really use real cheese ...they use that stuff made from oil... cheese is a dairy product . .... the same applies the aromatherapy and essential oils Market. ... most people don't know what these real oils are supposed to smell like . ....so I'm telling you your best bet is to really learn it at the right place. .. go to France it'll change your life I'm sure once you smell a real Clary Sage or hundred-year-old rose oil or real kananga real Hyacinth you never forget what any of these smell like and right away you know when something doesn't smell right
I've heard of people who've lost their sense of smell getting it back after using peppermint oil 😍 My brother lost his sense of smell, I sent him some, but I have to keep on him 🙏 praying..
I had a migraine coming & right before it hit Me I grabbed the peppermint & lavender oil used it topically on my neck, forehead & it went away immediately!!!! Thank God I had it or it would of been a terrible day !
Spearmint Oil can too; it's milder, stimulates the appetite, and if used in a bowl of tepid/lukewarm water to bathe someone down, can help lower fevers.
I bought a bottle that only says Pure Essential Oil on the label but no other info on the bottle. I am concerned about the safety. Should I even use it? I have other oils and they all have lots of info on the bottle. I am just worried about the one I have with no information. The amount is 1/3 oz cost $13.99.
Good vid. As for diffuses, though, I would add not to use peppermint with one. Those tiny droplets will find their way into your eyes and peppermint is caustic and can hurt your corneas.
I wish I would have found your channel sooner! I have been researching this information the difficult way; watching your videos is way more efficient & informative!
This was a great video for learning some basics on essential oils. I’m trying to find useful information regarding essential oils because I am getting more into it to help with stress and anxiety. I struggle with severe anxiety daily and it’s nice being able to find something natural over seeing a doctor for everything. I’d really like to reduce the amount of visits to the dr office.
Thank you Dr. Axe! You’ve inspired me to further my education in essential oils. I truly appreciate all the education you give. God bless you and your family. Much love!
I really enjoyed all the facts you have provided...is it possible to recommend a brand that has no pesticide and is organic??? I'm weary to trust labels that may not include complete information. Thank you!
Dr Axe... What oils can be used to help in hormone replacement? If someone had a full hysterectomy and has no hormones and is suffering from menopausal symptoms.
Dr Josh, the video is very informative and a few days ago I was very interested to use essential oil. Now, I know its importance and to use with much care. Thanks for the preventive advice.
Thanks for the advice about pets. My cat had an open wound that wouldn't heal on her throat. I applied helichrysum diluted in coconut oil twice a day for two months and it healed completely. Just make sure it is well diluted. Helichrysum has a mild smell but it is very strong. Always dilute properly.
I love using essential oil. I use it mostly for diffusing, but I have used it at work for rejuvenation or with my crystal healing/grids. Many times I have used it for anxiety and relaxation. Tea Tree oil mixed with olive oil is excellent for furniture polish.
I made the mistake of putting a large amount of tea tree in the diffuser before going to bed while sick. I woke up later couching all the excess mucus up .
Thank you so much for this overview, hence I was weighing options between different companies and Doterra, which claim to have the purest and most ethical oils. It’s hard to discern what company truly provides scientifically pure oils. Still I am really grateful for your presentation.
Extremely informative! Thanks so much. Loved your 5 oils in the "thinking you need to know everything section". We have had some amazing, even surprising experiences with Tea Tree, Frankincense and Lavender.
Load up on calcium and magnesium just before your period starts. That cured me of monthly cramps, and it makes sense as those are lost with the blood from the body, per Adele Davis.
NY MSK try taking it nightly, one drop on an area of thin skin, all month long. If you've tried diffusing it for cramps, that's nor the right method. It needs to go directly on your lower abdomen, 1-2 drops, for the immediate cramps. Long term nightly use of it should eliminate the cramps before they even come. Also, I agree with the other reply: magnesium and calcium are essential for health, and most of us are deficient.
Jerusha I did put several drops on lower abdomen in some coconut oil, but it didn't work. I don't want to use it nightly because I try to be careful and use the minimum effective amount when it comes to supplements, herbs or oils.
The most essential oil in my house will always be castor oil, for by taking regularly 1 tablespoon (15 ml) castor oil early in the morning on an empty stmach you will not only be able to excrete all the waste deposed in your bowels but all the toxins in your body (especially methymercury!) via the liver too, and for this one there will exist no dangers.
With pets, you must use very little amounts compared to what you would use as a human being. Animals are MUCH more sensitive to oils that we are. YourConscience
Just started making beard oil. This video is super informative, as I am trying to have the safest and best quality oils for my customers! Thanks a lot !
It would be practically useful if you could demonstrate the use - - topical, ingestion, aromatherapy - - for us novices who want to give essential oils a try
Ingestion a no no. Topical - always use a carrier oil before applying to skin. Diffusing is one of my fave. Diffusing lavender makes me sleep better and longer and feel well rested.

Rosemary & peppermint in my shampoo
Lavender body wash & mist on my body
Eucalyptus and peppermint in my diffuser 😍🥰 ah heaven 💕💕💕
Will you share your receipes and how many drops per x amount of water you use? Thanks
why would you mix eucalyptus and peppermint, that's like chewing spearmint, and peppermint gum at the same time, there's such little difference between the two, it's utterly pointless!
Definitely
I'm sitting here with blown up, inflamed facial skin, after applying essential oils to my hair. Had a serious reaction!! This video came unnervingly timely!!
Did you use the essential oil mixed with carrier oil?
@@GivingMama yes still got reaction.
StarlightnDust oh no. So sorry abt that. 😢
Which oils did you use?
I am diffusing frankincense lemon and Eucalyptus it’s my all-time favorite💖💨
I love love love Tea tree oil! It’s my favorite. It’s smells so clean and fresh

Yes I'm so addicted and I smell it all the time. If I don't I will go through withdrawal. I placed a drop of eucalyptus on a Newport cigarette 🚬 n it was the best taste n feeling I ever had in my life. Tea Tree and eucalyptus oil I'm totally addicted to n I can't stop abusing these oil smells but they don't last long n that's why I keep sniffing it or licking it or putting it on a cigarette.
😱😱😳😳😢😢
How....why would anyone put oil in the nose??? 😱😱
@@Love2Banime I have no idea. Some men are just giant toddlers who need constant supervision
That's shocking news
Can you clarify, your husband contracted C.Diff and then was put on antibiotics? Because C.Diff is an intestinal issue from some folks taking too many antacids etc... so you are not saying that he got C. Diff from essential oils,no?
I've used essentials for almost 10 years, amazing benefits in all the areas of health and wellness when used properly from the right source.
How do you use your oils? And how often?

Dr Josh I have been watching your videos and I have a question on Oregano 🌿 oil, you said it can be ingested 4 drops 4 times a day for 10 days; you said it has lots of benefits killing bad bacteria; and applied on the nails with fungus will kill them ( I understand it has to be deluded with coconut oil to put on the skin.
Ok this is easy to understand but can you clear the ingestion, and if I drink it as prescribed by you will it help to kill the fungi on the nails as well 😊
Looking forward for your kind answer 🌈🙏 Paulina 🌼
Do you have a certificate program? Or a recommendation? Love your videos! You are my go to RUclips source!!
I’ve also used tea tree (along with ACV) to help cure my toe nail fungus!

Peter Florentzou yes, Magnesium is wonderful. I took magnesium for most of my pregnancy and it helped tremendously. I have type one diabetes and tend to get a sore back or sore muscles or even problems with relaxing. The magnesium helps with all of those things.
Try elevating your legs. It helps but does not cure.
Damn if only i would've knew this back then.

Hello Dr. Axe. I have been interested in essential oils for about a few years now. The few I know about have really helped me so much. I really learned a lot by your videos. Thanks again for everything you do!! :)

you're not going to like my response but I'm going to tell you anyway ....i learned aromatherapy with a guy who in the 1970s went to France to study real perfume making with the experts.
... later he added the title aromatherapy to his business cards .
.I got to smell what these real oils are like and the majority of the stuff in all those health food stores is synthetic and or inferior or water down with other oils .
if you're really really serious your best bet is to get the money together or get student loans... it probably would cost a lot to go to the perfumery school in France.
... the only reason I say that is because even if you study with a so-called professional aromatherapist..
.. you don't know how much they do or do not really know .
....some of these people are crackpots and have never smelt all of the real oils ...
. ..so some of them don't even know what it is that THEY don't know... if you understand what I'm saying.
...... just us too many people in America have never even had a real Pizza...
they think going to Domino's, Papa John's ,Little Caesars , all those places have fake pizza ...
.... they are loaded with chemicals, and preservatives and some even put high fructose corn syrup in the dough and the sauces.
... and don't even really use real cheese ...they use that stuff made from oil... cheese is a dairy product .
.... the same applies the aromatherapy and essential oils Market.
... most people don't know what these real oils are supposed to smell like .
....so I'm telling you your best bet is to really learn it at the right place.
.. go to France it'll change your life I'm sure once you smell a real Clary Sage or hundred-year-old rose oil or real kananga real Hyacinth you never forget what any of these smell like and right away you know when something doesn't smell right
I've heard of people who've lost their sense of smell getting it back after using peppermint oil 😍 My brother lost his sense of smell, I sent him some, but I have to keep on him 🙏 praying..
You're right on Dr. Axe. I took a course in 92' and learned all about what your talking about.
Peppermint oil stops my headaches
Yes! Me too. I like lavender, peppermint, lemon, and frankincense together. ( mostly the peppermint)
Marini Afrika Mashariki It also deters mice!
Yes .
Thanks for this info. I am convinced about the healing potentials of oils and sometimes I must admit I can get carried away 🙈. Knowledge is important.

I had no idea that there was so much information on Essential oils
Very detailed and necessary your video 😎👍👍💯
I bought a bottle that only says Pure Essential Oil on the label but no other info on the bottle. I am concerned about the safety. Should I even use it? I have other oils and they all have lots of info on the bottle. I am just worried about the one I have with no information. The amount is 1/3 oz cost $13.99.
I can't trust any label now days🤦🏿♀️ Thanks for the information I'm subscribing, you coming up off straight tea🤭💙

Is it safe using tree tea oil in toothpaste?
Good vid. As for diffuses, though, I would add not to use peppermint with one. Those tiny droplets will find their way into your eyes and peppermint is caustic and can hurt your corneas.
Psalm1Tree I found out the hard way not to diffuse cinnamon it burns lungs and eyes
Yup, lavender, tea tree, citrus, eucalyptus, sandalwood and garlic oil are my basics. Also great for my skin~
Hi, how do you use them on skin? Is it ok also for the face skin? Thanks a lot for replying!

Much love!
Thank you, Dr Axe for your help❤❤❤

What oils can be used to help in hormone replacement? If someone had a full hysterectomy and has no hormones and is suffering from menopausal symptoms.
Dr Josh, the video is very informative and a few days ago I was very interested to use essential oil. Now, I know its importance and to use with much care. Thanks for the preventive advice.

Can you take sea buckthorn oil internally?
Hi everyone is there overdose or can affect body organs (diluted) in topical use or applying direct to skin?

Thank you so much for this overview, hence I was weighing options between different companies and Doterra, which claim to have the purest and most ethical oils. It’s hard to discern what company truly provides scientifically pure oils. Still I am really grateful for your presentation.
My hands down favs are lemongrass and litsea. They just smell good to me and are so uplifting.

Extremely informative! Thanks so much. Loved your 5 oils in the "thinking you need to know everything section". We have had some amazing, even surprising experiences with Tea Tree, Frankincense and Lavender.
Clary Sage is amazing for PMS and relaxation.
Doesn't help with cramps, unfortunately. I still have to take ibuprofen.
So sad! Have you tried diluting it 50% and putting it in a roller bottle? That, nightly, would be way less than a drop...
I'm on a low carb diet. Do EO's have carbs?
The most essential oil in my house will always be castor oil, for by taking regularly 1 tablespoon (15 ml) castor oil early in the morning on an empty stmach you will not only be able to excrete all the waste deposed in your bowels but all the toxins in your body (especially methymercury!) via the liver too, and for this one there will exist no dangers.
Thank you for providing this excellent information! I really appreciate it - especially pointing out the dangers for pets 🐾 that's really important ☺
Great information 🐺🐕 wouldn't want to my pets sick thank you so much!!!😊
You would be surprised how many videos don't mention this.
With pets, you must use very little amounts compared to what you would use as a human being. Animals are MUCH more sensitive to oils that we are.

I practice Egyptian Neopaganism and essential oils are a must, I use eucalyptus regularly!
Out of curiosity, what does essential oils have to do with Egyptian Neopaganism? Another words , where do they fit in?
It would be practically useful if you could demonstrate the use - - topical, ingestion, aromatherapy - - for us novices who want to give essential oils a try
Yes plz
Ingestion a no no.
Topical - always use a carrier oil before applying to skin.
Diffusing is one of my fave. Diffusing lavender makes me sleep better and longer and feel well rested.
