Fufu and pounded Yam are two different things. Cassava flour can be used to make fufu and Yam flour to make pounded Yam (poundo Yam as it's often called when made from flour).
I asked a lady in my area for egusi and pounded yam and she gave me fu fu when I got home and noticed I was pissed , I payed 25$ for that plate and couldn’t eat it smh
Abi,I'm glad you explained why the yam is pounded as much. I always wondered why, now I know. Also I didn't know what was swallow before now. Strong arms! 😁
Thanks you explained everything clearly its just a simple thing but so tricky to get the pounding in practice. I'm continuing to practice thanks so much x
I gave the lady at my local Nigerian food store the biggest smile when I, being the palest of English girls, went in and asked for Pounded Yam flour, I definitely made a new friend and found a great new store! Thank you so much for bringing these recipe techniques to everyone who loves them or like me, cant wait to try them! 😍xx
I tried fufu and all the soups taht come with it .. I narrowed it down to my favorite..egusi no meat and fufu... but in Colorado I've only had it from one restaurant and honestly it's a little pricey... but now I moved away from that city and don't have any fufu near me ;( I need to learn to make this asap
I've found an easy video on fufu finally! Does it taste more like dough or is it sweet like yams? I want to try to make fisherman soup for my first fufu try.
She said labour intensive 😄, it's true. That's why there are gadgets and we must use them. My brother makes eba and Poundo yam inside Microwave and it always comes out perfect!
My dear sister Abi Wow😍 it's looks so good and so delicious my dear sister Abi enjoy much love for you my dear wonderful sister Abi ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👌🏼👍
A lot of people are saying this ola ola company is not selling authentic powdered yam anymore, they say it potato powder. Do you have any other company you recommend?
@@nxnyj9616 Wooow I'm shocked, even the woman in the African store says that's what she uses for fufu, I ain't paying $15aud for a 1kg bag anymore, I just watched a video on someone making potato fufu, I'm gonna give it a try..

I thought fu fu flour was pure grounded yam but then the packet ingredients showed that refined wheat flour had been added to make it glutinous. Buyer beware !
I think the first person to cook pounded yam didn’t have a kettle. Why put 4 cups of water into the pot when you can just put 3 cups and use hot water from the kettle to add if needed??? Ninja for you 🇳🇬😅
My African folks! When making an instructional videos, please, go straight to the point! All these other side stuff (describing spoons, describing the stores etc) is not needed oh! Thanks for the video anyway!
@ABI'S COOKING I'm sorry to tell you but this is not pounded yam because you neet to bye the fresh yam cook it till its soft and put it in a wooden bucket and pound it for at least 1hour with a wooden pole and the real fufu is made of fresh cassava and is cooked til its soft and then pressed true a really fine sif and then is also pounded like the yam for at least 1 hour non stop and you need to cook the yam and the cassava on a low heat for a couple of hours because the yam and the cassava is exactly poisonous that's way you shredded first and you wash it with water til the water is clear that's the way its done in Mother Africa 💪🏽
shes a mum of four and a working wife, she aint got time for that. moreover where in the title did she say "from scratch" lets stop pretending we all eat poundo

Not sure which is easier, this or the actual pounding of boil yam?😂 Boiled yam in a food processor is probably the best option.weldone sha..
