That's a gorgeous mic that slipped out of public consciousness! What I can remember from Panasonic's National days are the AA and AAA batteries. I've never heard of this beauty! It sounds good even with the tiny self noise I hear. It also reacts great to EQ tweaks, where It doesn't seem to distort. Great find and sounds like a keeper! I wish they still sold this.
The noise is likely the air conditioner. Small studio and it’s a window unit….gotta do what I gotta do lol. Thanks for watching!
@@ObscureMics Sorry I thought it was a lil electronic noiseI like the dual warm and clarity signature. This jap tank got me very interested. So obscure, I can't even find a lot of results for it. The build and sound kicks butt!
Got a few of these mics we use in the studio. Awesome mics
Was hoping to find some folks who knew about them!
Daaaaammm I saw one of these for sale a couple of weeks ago on a Japanese auction site, I nearly bought it just for the looks. I will definitely be buying the next one, cheers
Cool mic for sure! Thanks for watching!
I freaking got one! Found it for ¥9900 which sounds like a steal but shipping to NZ is going to hurt. Thanks again for this vid, really helpful😊
@@fanbladeinstruments wooooooo that’s good stuff
Looks great. Sonically, it has some interesting things going on, but I am not dusting off the credit card to grab one. Awesome find.
It’s definitely got a slightly different tone than most mics in recent memory. Not bad….more …curious
You found another one that I've never heard of - love when that happens. Such a cool-looking mic! Not enough low end for me, but otherwise pretty cool.
Definitely want a bigger bottom 🍑
Adapter (probably): Sony 210095200 at Full Compass
Great look! How old is it? Ironic that the text on it is all in English, when it was obviously a Japanese only mic.
Supposedly national was the American offshoot of Panasonic? I found an adapter…coming today 🤞
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaark! National was the brand that Matsushita sold products in America under until they changed to Panasonic.
Ooooooo I love some history!
The hole is where the 5/8 27 adapter is supposed to be. I love some of those Japanese mics. Some of my Audio Technicas are also Japanese. YEA streetlights!
@redcabinacoustic-official of course lol. I bought an adapter 🤞
Why did that low-cut filter make it sound so bad? Is it just bad implementation or what? I would certainly use a low-cut filter if trying to record a podcast indoors or something indoors with HVAC going or cars outside. Is this just a case of 'use your mixer's or interface's' filter? The high-cut filter, if anything, made it sound better.
Cool design. I wonder how it compares with contemporaries in the $200 area.
It was definitely super aggressive
Bark, am I missing something here? I mean, more than I'm usually missing? You discuss needing a stand adaptor, but at 2:21, I can plainly see the stand adaptor and its swivel, which appear to be a permanent part of the mic, like an EV 667 or Shure 55....
It’s a half inch pipe thread like in an old RCA mic.
@@ObscureMics Ahh! Strange.....
@@ScottGrammer old school
Off-axis rejection is pretty mid, otherwise I love everything about it.
Obscure ass mic, all the info I need. No notes.
Spot on. And I’ll give that slightly below average off axis a pass due to the plosive rejection
Where did you find one?!
Fairly easy to find once you identify it
Windtech m11 adapter, available on Amazon and eBay
@@ObscureMics one of the few adapters I don’t have, but also don’t need - yet. peace
