    Namaste! Welcome, my name is Stefano, and this is your yoga nidra practice for deep relaxation. Thank you for being here today as we delve into powerful techniques that help regulate the nervous system and enhance vagal tone activation. It’s an honor and a pleasure to guide you in this meditation. Today’s practice is part of a special series of Himalayan-style yoga nidras inspired by the teachings, writings, and offerings of Swami Rama, Swami Jnaneshvara Bharati, Pierre Bonnasse, and one of my dear mentors, Ally Boothroyd from the School of Living Yoga. In this yoga nidra, we will guide our attention through the use of mantra, visualization, and bodily sensations as we rotate our conscious awareness through 61 points within the body, releasing subtle tension with ease. During the heart of the practice, we will visit the chakra portals into the state of yoga nidra by engaging the breath. As we rest silently, our conscious awareness will help the mind center and focus during a profound state of deep relaxation. Gently follow my guidance as you unwind and discover new dimensions of peace within yourself.
    Please note that this practice includes longer gaps of silence to integrate your experience.
    Yoga Nidra translates into English as “yogic sleep,” yet this does not tell us all that much. Yoga Nidra refers to both a state of consciousness - one that is different from the waking, dreaming, and deep sleep states - as well as different styles of guided meditations that allows us to begin to consciously gain access to this state.
    These meditations themselves are a specific sequence of relaxation, meditation, and mindfulness techniques that help the body, mind, and emotions to slowly and gently become more still and silent. Participants then systematically induce profound levels of rest and relaxation within themselves that may have not even been accessible with natural physiological sleep, perhaps due to stress or chronic health conditions. As such, Yoga Nidra itself is considered a form of NSDR, non-sleep deep rest, a term coined by neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Huberman.
