Well, it's one guitar dubbed over itself. But yes, the guitar is doubled up this way from 0:57 all the way to the end of the song, though sometimes it drops out for a bit, particularly during the third verse.
@@benjaminwoodrowmusic6070 What I mean is it's the same Gibson Les Paul being played by the same guitarist. They're just different recordings of it. But yes, they are different guitar lines.
It takes years to learn it properly and I finally nailed it. But once you do, you notice just how hard it is because so many people who cover it never get it right.
A recent comment so you may see this, im 44, imagine loving it, hearing your Spanish classically trained Dad play it, your brother 7 years younger nailing it for his GCSE and then going on to teach guitar AND become a bagpipe pipe major and play a version of it on the 'pipes and on top of that your mum drumming it ............ and my music ability came as DJ'ing, they can't beat match or scratch but I can't play any instrument and believe me with my family i've tried so good for you dude, well jealous!
That's a fact man! There is a RUclips program call Musicians react and I think it is now called deadwax and they break that riff down in an episode and it is fascinating to watch how it is actually played with a sort of banjo roll. I have never seen anybody play it right including myself. Mark is possibly the most underrated guitar genius on the planet. He's well known amongst us guitar players but he should be EVH popular
I could never get my pointer finger to sqeueeze between G and D string, but instead I use my ring and middle, and I do a botched version of his 4 beat finger thing Mark does, sounds almost identical
I just now found out about this song and the guitar is so amazing. I love music from the 708090's although I am born in 2002 I know this song was releases in the 80's
This is like straight from the Delta. Like nothing else mixed there. Just the bluees guitar crying and dancing, wailing and swinging. - with the band it becomes the sound of the 80's.
Man did he have a dirty guitar riff lying around and made more out of the riff by making such an intriguing song video...brilliant. Song is iconic...as is Mark.
Great up date. Love the harmonics and the guitar multi-track!! Now put the intro and the other instruments you had in your first version plus some vocal and you'll have the whole tune.
Same here. I'm not a fan of the rest of the song's production. A phenomenal guitar piece laid over a track that sounds like it's coming from a Kawasaki One Man Jam. I enjoy the lyrics and vocal performances but I find the guitar much more interesting.
I have an old MFM/RLL IBM PC hard drive that sounds like this (and a 360K floppy drive to go with it). You could probably redo this instrumental with one or both of them. The stepper motors are capable of making the same type of sound as the distorted electric guitar if you write directly to the drive controller to move the motor for the notes you want to produce.
That riff that hit harder that every dad's belts in the world
Lol
Lmao fuckin A
Uhh
Especially with the intro.....had to allow a build up to crush and smash the way it did

this has to be one of the most pleasing sounds i’ve heard in my life, nothing beats the tone on the recording
This sound made me decide to leave classical studies and play electric guitar, almost 30 years ago. The harmonic at 4:38 makes me crazy. I love it!!
Dario Piccarreta so many little harmonic ghost notes in this fuckin awesome
Oh yeah that particular harmonic especially is the shit!
of all of the ones in the song you pick that one? nah this one right when it starts 00:06
1:18 🔥
Every second of this thing, man!
I've been listening to this song for 30 years and just today I'm hearing licks that I've never heard before!
Now that's epic
Truth
How he uses his own technique by aggressively plucking the strings is just🤤
it's all fingerpicking
I can’t believe guitar picks continued to be produced and purchased after this track hit the charts. Lol.
Because most people did not know "the secret" hahaha but well pointed!

So wild him and his sound tech were never able to replicate this sound again from that first studio session. Magic was definitely in the room.
Cuz the mike fell on the floor and they didn't notice till after
