Thank you for a well-paced training. I get frustrated by presenters who don't realize how fast they speak and move, making them hard to follow. Also, doing a repeat of actions within the video is important for more complex moves. This is the third presentation I've watched but it is the best for understanding.
Thank you sooooo much for this video. I have spent quite a number of hours trying to work this out.....then i found you! This was so easy to follow I am now about to watch your other videos. Thank you again, so appreciate this!!! :)
Thank you so much for your very helpful videos! They have helped me a great deal in getting around "error" messages, etc. Your videos are clear and easy to understand and use!
Thank you this is so informative, I was wondering what every thing was for and how to go about using and understanding all the buttons. You made it sound so easy.
Very informative, easy to understand but one ? I know that it say some svgs cannot be used, but everyone I have tried is telling me that, do I need to do something special other than browsing my files, to I open the svg or will the software do it thanks
Thank you for your tutorials. My question is: up the top of your SNC Canvas screen, you have File, Edit, View, Favourites, Tools, Help. I don't have that with my screen. Any ideas why that would be? Kind regards. p.s. Thanks for not having a whole lot of loud, annoying music in the background!
Thanks for your help. But what is the screen grab method and how do I do it. I am a novice on the computer. I have a silhouette cameo as well as the ScanNcut I would like to be able to use some of the gsd designs on my ScanNcut.
+Mary Ault I haven't done that one myself. There are others that have documented this online so you should be able to find it by doing a quick google search.
Can someone please tell me, what the savest program is to convert to svg/fcm files? I've got a Mac..... Have my Scan 'n Cut now for several years, but never dared to work with it. But with this explanation/instructions, I dare to. Thank you very much for this clear lessons.
Glad that you were happy with the video but you should know that the Scan N Cut was updated some time ago so you don't need to convert SVG files any more. If you are looking for up to date learning, please do check out my course on Udemy. There is a link in the description of this video.
I have an SVG file made in inkscape which was downloaded to my computer and transferred to canvas when I try to export it to my scan n cut I get the error message "This project cannot be downloaded. Some shapes extend beyond the cutting area." I have magnified and checked everywhere and cannot see anything. What am I doing wrong any advice would be very helpful
Press A on your keyboard and it will put a bounding box around all object that are on your design space. Zoom right out. Then you should be able to see if there is anything that is not contained within the cutting area that would affect your attempt to download. Bear in mind that the bounding box extending beyond the cutting area might also affect your attempt to download. Hope this helps.
Kevin Russell Here is a list that Brother have created - there are plenty to choose from but there are others that will work also. download.brother.com/welcome/doch001175/scanncut_usb_r1309.pdf
Can I ask ..... once you have created an SVG file and saved to your scan n cut machine, can you still resize once it is saved on the machine? OR do you have to work on scan n cut canvas first? I have just started to play with my machine and watching loads of videos to help, but must say it is quite daunting! Many Thanks
I recently had changed an svg file to the fcm....flash drive into machine....found it and set up my mat prepared to cut...but the cut button would not go off. I repeated the process and it happened again. This is the first time that I have ever encountered this. Any ideas? I can see the converted file on the screen...it showed up in the scan so that I could put it over the paper I wanted to cut.....went to cut and it wouldn't light up. So strange.
@@GentlemanCrafterUK Yes on both accounts. It was the weirdest thing. The machine showed that it was there, but refused to highlight it in any way. Just strange. I haven't worked with it since. I am tearing my craft room apart and have it stored for the time being. The room needs a major overhaul....I have become a collector more than a crafter and I have to fix that. LOL I already got rid of a ton of stuff and have just begun. Wish me luck!
@@GentlemanCrafterUK LOL....I think that we can ALL relate! What is it about crafters that we all seem to turn into hoarders...some worse than others?!
Thanks for reaching out Renee. Since creating this video I have subsequently created an entire "out of the box" to "cutting confident" course over on Udemy. Here is a link in case it would be of interest to you - www.udemy.com/course/brother-scan-n-cut-cut-draw-and-scan-with-confidence/?couponCode=HALF-PRICE-AUGUST Oh, and it's half price until the end of August.
I have a PNG file sent to me that has two colors and I'm trying to figure out how to convert it to use in scan n cut so I can create layers to separate colors. is this the same process?
Im using Inkscape to convert my work into SVG to be able to take into the scan and cut to download into the fcm format but Im getting an error that its not a SVG.....so frustrated...can you help
This is a video from 9 years ago when only the online version was available. It has had a couple of changes since then and also there is now a version that you instal on your computer which looks different. If you'd like to have a look around the differences between the three versions, please pop over to my new dedicated channel where I have a video that explains more. You can find that here - ruclips.net/video/KEAZodaX0j0/видео.htmlsi=9DHveCL_3mXNhily Please also note that you no longer need to convert SVG files for use with your machine as you can import them directly to the machine if you are not going to make changes to them.
I have tried to save several files one has worked but 3 keep getting error messages saying they cant be saved. They have all been SVG and form sites for scan n cut is there anything i can do please
Thanks for your reply on Create and craft it did say can be connected to a lap top I also have a blue tooth dongle if I plug it in to the USB slot on my Scan and cut would I be able to connect it to my Pc that way
This is because the software has been updated since this video was made. You may like to check the help files to check what to do in this new download dialogue box.
Hi John, Is there a way of using my Silhouette files with the Scan n cut? Ive tried printing a box I want to make and scanning the printout into the SNC but I dont get things like score lines :)
Julie White Silhouette files are often in a format limiting them for use with Silhouette machines only and therefore there is no simple and easy method. In addition the designers or retailers may have only provided Silhouette with a copyright license to sell for use on that machine so please bear that in mind when thinking about this. Having said that I have seen a few how-to videos online but it's not something that I've tried myself so could t advise I'm afraid.

You would download it in the regular manner.

Sally Bownes any design that is opened on the machine can be worked with in the same way, ie grouped resized rotated etc. File type has no relevance.

Heather Dodsworth Have you tried contacting the links to the support desk via the Scan N Cut website?
Can you tell me how I can convert GSD files to SVG. Thankyou
It's complicated but generally requires the purchase of other software.
Other people do the screen grab method.
Hi
Its only giving me the option to download to PC and then coming up with a blank webpage??
+Kelly Bradford The download should start once the blank page opens. If it does not you may have your pop up blocker or auto downloads turned off.
Hi Can I connect my PC to my Scan and cut and pass from instead of a USB stick1 to the other
Please Thanks for this Diane
It is not possible to physically link the computer at this time however some of the newer models will have wifi connectivity.
Thanks for your reply on Create and craft it did say can be connected to a lap top

Hi Sorry for the late reply DM300 is the machine i will have when it arrives
Sorry for all the questions Di
Is it possible to covert PNG files to scanncut2?
Yes it is. You can trace JPG, GIF, PNG or BMP images. Just use the image tracing feature in Scan N Cut Canvas.
I get a much different screen when I hit the download button
