    This is what I would have expected the original one to cost. When it dropped at $32k there was no way people were going to buy that especially with a bike like the Zero SR being an option.

    I don’t ride bikes cos I’m too scared - and the video of the freeway makes me think I’m making the right decision! Looks very exposed… But it does seem the ideal transport solution in a city. Does it have regen? Ie can you do “one-pedal” driving?

    • @AdventuresonZero
      @AdventuresonZero Год назад +1

      Not that we call it one pedal driving, but yes you can use regen braking to slow down the bike when you release the throttle. It's quite effective and is fun to ride. It can be a scary experience, especially at first, however riding a motorcycle is one of the most freeing experiences!

I was in a motorcycle accident in 2019 and never bothered to do my chin strap correctly, and my helmet ripped off my face and broke my jaw. The helmet still saved my life, but I'm missing a lot of my front teeth because I can't afford implants and my face is scarred from sliding down the freeway on my forehead. Yea I've ridden all the Zero motorcycles and the EV thing on a bike works really well. The noise does help tell cars you're there though. I used to think "loud pipes save lives" was bullshit spread by leather-clad doctors with tassels on their handle bars, but then I owned a bike with loud pipes and the difference in safety is real.
    The HD turn signal thing you really do get used to quickly. I have an HD but also have a KTM' and Hondas and BMW's, with conventional turn signals and once you ride it for a bit you get used to it and there's no learning curve, you seamlessly switch from one to the other. Fun fact; BMW's used to have the same style turn signals.
    This is what the Livewire should have been priced at originally.

      @christopherpedersen1820 2 года назад +4

      With new things companies are unsure about they price them to cover the design and tooling costs with fewer purchases. They probably got more interest than they thought, already paid off most of the design and tooling costs, and can now sell them closer to what it costs them to build per unit.
      For example if something costs 100 million in design and tooling and I'm only planning to sell 10k then I need 10k per bike to cover the design and tooling. If I expected to sell 100k off the bat I'd only need 1k per bike to cover the design and tooling. If. change my plan halfway through I may drastically change how much I need to ask per bike to see profit though.

    Hey mate, thankyou for your video, I enjoyed watching it. I'm from down under and I own an original H-D Livewire. It cost me $50,000 AUD that's $35,635 USD. The Livewire's city range is achievable, I have done it. I am no ace motorcycle rider, even after 40 years riding experience I'm still learning to ride better and safer. I used 91% of the range doing it in the city streets and got 213.8 km ( when you divide the km by 91 and times that answer by 100 you get almost 146 miles for 100% range ). My city has signpost speed limits of 80km ( 49.7 miles ), 60km ( 37.3 miles ), 50km ( 31 miles ) and 40km school zone ( 25 miles ). Except where the traffic dictated what slowed down speed i could travel at, I mainly rode at or just above those signposted speed limits.
    How did I get the claimed range? I programmed ride mode A with 83% power, 100% regen braking, 78% throttle and TC set at medium.
    I have owned the bike now for 6 months and have ridden 7888 km. Total fuel cost for me has been a massive $2.42 AUD that's one dollar and seventy two cents USD ( I use excess solar at home to charge bike up and free DC chargers when I am riding out on the open road )

    Fact: Electric bikes will only ever be city commuter bikes until they increase the range to 250 miles of highway riding (with a 30 minute or less charge time).
    -
    And that day can't come soon enough. I own a Zero SR, and in the city, damm - it's the shit. But it can only go 70 miles at 70mph. Which means I don't ever take it out of the city. Which is a shame. Someday, hopefully soon, batteries will 2x or 3x their capacity (in a given size)....

      We need a real quantum leap in battery technology. Sure, modern batteries are better than the old lead acid of years gone by, but it's only a minor improvement. And, they are not sustainable. The rare metals in modern batteries are going to be problem. Only so much available and recycling is still a question. Until I can get 300 mile range and a 10-15 min charge time, I have no interest and that includes the EV cars. The cars should be getting 1,000 mile ranges and maybe a half hour to hour charge time.

    Custom mirrors.. I heard that. And that can be a game changer. I am drooling over this bike. I'm going to have to knock over a newsstand. That is a little pricy. Wow! I am going to have to swing it. It is too sweet. I think I have to do it. The center of gravity is visible when you see it ridden. It looks stuck to the ground. Or on rails. 🤤

    Test rode the LiveWire. It was okay. Found it too heavy for my taste. Prefer my Zero DSR. More range, easier to charge, less cost. Zero as a company has had more time to refine EV bikes as well.

    • @AdventuresonZero
      @AdventuresonZero Год назад

      The rumor is that Harley was having a hard time selling the bike to their established customer base, who were die hard petrol enthusiasts - although most of us that own them are still in their target demographic. Looking at LiveWire's marketing efforts, they are trying to appeal to a younger customer demographic. Makes sense, but sucks that they lost the Harley branding, even though the bikes are still being made in the same harley factories.

    • @bikebudha01
      @bikebudha01 2 года назад

      Obviously you've never ridden an ebike. It's not the same, but it's still just as good as a gas engine in terms of 'experience'. The soul comes from being able to experience the sounds around you... It's much closer to flying than an ICE bike.... (Think glider vs. gas engine plane. In the glider, you hear the rush of the wind, and since there is no noise, you are much more in tune with the motion of the machine. Whereas in a gas engine plane, it's just the roar of the engine...)

      I don't see how EV bikes suit motorcycling at all. They are completely inconvenient with such a short range. I'd go 50 miles from my house and have to turn around. The efficiency and convenience of the gas motorcycle really makes an EV bike a novelty. I'll never own one unless it has gears and I can recharge it in 10 mins.
