    The "ticking" felt at the stoplight is probably the haptic feedback function H-D built into the Livewire, so that people couldn't easily forget that they were sitting on a "live" bike with the absence of the noise and vibration of an internal combustion engine.

    • @ButBigger42
      @ButBigger42 2 года назад +7

      I bet that is going to happen a lot, forgetting you're on an e bike.

    • @ETAFRanger
      @ETAFRanger 2 года назад +10

      @@ButBigger42 No doubt. And H-D said that they were concerned that riders could find themselves casually sitting on, or standing beside the bike, while talking to friends or other riders and accidentally or absent mindedly turn the throttle and launch the bike.

      If you need a reminder, or easily forget that you're on a "live" bike, then you shouldn't be on a bike.the only bike anyone should be allowed on if they forget should be a huffy.

    I rode the Livewire this week. It was nerve wracking for all of 30 seconds, and then I loved it! The chassis felt nimble, brakes were responsive, torque was awesome, and most surprisingly, I didn’t miss the V-Twin sound as much as I thought I would.
    However, the price and range are going to be the downfall of this bike. The older generation likely isn’t interested, and the younger generation (I’m 21) likely doesn’t have $30,000 to shell out on an electric motorcycle that has a range of just over 100 miles. That puts it in a pretty small niche. I’m excited to see what Harley does with this technology going forward.

    • @fredmaldonado9204

      Yup. They completely missed the mark. The idiot boomers that still buy Harley don’t want electric. The people my age who want electric performance, aren’t willing to pay Harley money for it. I can’t even justify the Zero Fx. And that’s about $10k. And the Zero at least can swap batteries.
      Harley will most likely fade away in the near future.

    31:30 in case of Regen, the motor doesn't turn in the opposite direction. All it does is, instead of it spinning the wheels, it gets spun by the wheels(due to inertia) and essentially behaves like a dynamo and thus charges the battery. Great review and great video bdw.

    Just traded in our 7th leased four wheel vehicle and bought a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-e GT ext range EV. What a cultural shift, but in three weeks after a few trips beyond it's range and and my wife's daily commutes. The fun and efficiency soon erases all range anxiety and I.C.E. expectations. This Thursday I will purchase a LiveWire EV. The model will depend on the conditions of the sale for each model. Thank you for sharing, Ride Free

    OC: Love this bike and the chance for EVs on 2 wheels. I rode one branded as the HD Livewire and would totally own one but as a 2nd bike. The range is a issue for me right now and anything other than day-trips the charging makes it hard to own as a primary machine. The problem I have is it only charges at Level 1 or 3. It doesn't support the Level 2 charging which I bet would charge to full in like 2-3 hours max. Its far easier to find L2 charging vs L3. Hopefully with a version 2 of this machine it would allow for some improvements to their charging options and time for fast chargers to show up in more places.

      You do realize over 80% of the electricity produced that powers EVs is made by fossil fuel burning, mining for the minerals (lithium, cobalt, nickle, etc.) for the batteries is highly polluting as well, additionally China will have us dependant on them since they produce the most minerals for the batteries, same situations coming into play with fossil fuels. It won't be cleaner/greener and a less dependent energy alternative. Not to mention getting rid of the batteries. Besides, only 9% of carbon emissions are produced by vehicles, the main culprit are industrial and deforestation. I also see nobody mentioning EVs are extremely heavy compared to their ICE counterparts and will be a huge safety hazard causing far more injuries and deaths on the road. They weigh 30%-50% more due to their batteries.

    SO, I would say that the ZERO motorcycles DON'T copete with the Livewire. something like the Energica Eva EsseEsse9 or Ribelle would be better comparisons. YOu should try and test drive one of those? THey are expensive, though (Just like this one).
    I'd like to see this bike on the mountain, even ifyou have to drive it the distance, see how charging would work. I would probably buy this over the Energicas (though something like the Ego+ would be a fun bike).
    as for power, acceleration is where it is for electric motorcycles. HOwever, they tend to bleed offf at faster speeds, so I probably won't beat supersports in a 1/4 mile race, maybe just 0-60, and then een that, I'm not sure. NOt sure I'd get this as a "sporty" bike. I'd go with Energica for that (Ego+, Eva EsseEsse9+), but this would be a daily commuter, even if an expensive one. You could get a MINI cooper electric vehicle for as much as this bike! or a Chevy Bolt EV or EUV for LESS than the price of this bike!

    Oc---- nope and as some one that works power plants they don't make sense. Unless you home power comes from nuclear, wind or hydro which isn't that many plants, most likely your using coal. That is no different than fossil fuels.

    So you can't ride around after work? And it's a huge inconvenience to constantly charge your bike after 100 miles, come on! Plug this bike up and cook some hotdogs and a steak. Good review 👍🏽

    Not one for synchronicity, however chase ends up behind a college sticker, Georgia Tech, The only? collegiate stickers ever in a first ride background. LiveWire manifesting,(joke)

    With the technology for EVs changing by the day, it won't take long for it to become an even WORSE value. Let's be honest, HD pulled the name off so they could lower the price. It's virtually the SAME bike for about $7K less because they dropped the HD badge. Until this bike (in it's current form) is dropped down to the $15-17k (ish) range, this will not sell.
