  • If Stephen Kenny is relieved or leaves his role as Ireland manager, would Roy Keane be a suitable replacement?
    On House of Football this week, Alan Cawley put forward the argument that he would be a good fit, that he wouldn't have to 'mellow' as some have suggested and that he would potentially be interested in taking it as well.
    What do you think?

    I have no idea about football management, but , in my humble opinion , you don t need to be a rocket scientist to know that the problem is not the manager but the simple fact that the lack of quality players is our big downfall...
    You hire the best rugby coach in the world to coach the spanish rugby team , they ll still never qualify for anything !!
    We ll just have to wait until we get a half-decent generation of good players together before we ever qualify for a major tournament again 😢

    Jonathan walters International career ended at the hands of Roy Keane after Keanes monumental dressing down on the training ground. Keane tore walters heart out by questioning walters desire to play for Ireland. Walters never got over that. And He was Keane fan as footballer.

    Rubbish talk, realistically Ireland are a 3rd division team,we haven't got players with premier League quality to compete with teams such as France(probably the best team in the world)or the Dutch who have quality players as well.The FA I need to study the coaching systems used in Spain and France and design a 20 year strategic plan to implement with high quality coaches.

    • @davidpryle3935
      @davidpryle3935 Год назад

      You can study the “coaching systems” used in Spain and France, and come up with whatever “strategic plan” you like. But as long as football remains a minority supported game with the Irish public, it will always be a struggle against countries where football is the undisputed number one field game, which it is in the rest of Europe basically.

    • @seanthorntonthornton
      @seanthorntonthornton Год назад +2

      Keane walked out because of the standard of the FAI and the dereliction of duty on their part to Irish football. The proof is in the pudding. 20 years later we’re in a worse position, national league is a shambles, the CEO of the FAI lives in London and we don’t produce young players anymore. All symptomatic of a governing body that doesn’t give a shit. Exactly what Keane walked out for. While I don’t think he’s the man for the job, if we had more men like Roy Keane who cared for Irish football instead of lining their pockets we wouldn’t be in this scenario
