I'm more Irish than them too , and I haven't had an Irish relative since 1847. I don't blame players like Kean. You're at the top of your game, and you have people in your squad who are only there because they'd never make the England squad....As for McAteer, those white suits and his shampoo advert defined his career !
Roy woke Keane should’ve stopped crying and just played
Thanks to RUclips anyone can just dig stuff up and load it
Small costs and can’t be stopped 🤣🤣👍🏾
Roy Keane was a world class athlete, a leader and a winner. Not too many for Ireland fit that bill. As a consequence, mundane and average were accepted as normal.
Keane was right about everything, the only wrong Keane did was talk to the press about his grievences, though Mick shouldn't have confronted in front of everyone, should have taken him aside.
Keane should know talking to the press is a treacherous move. Someone should press Keane on that, it's a key element that has been skirted over.
McCarthy was to much of a coward to pull Keano on his own
Clowns, connelly trying to say he that mcateer was on the same level as keane 😂😂
Ireland wouldn’t have won it with Keane,definitely would’ve been further than a paltry 2nd round,but seriously no,they wouldn’t have lifted the trophy…
20 years on and it still hasn’t stopped. Even Liverpool managed to win the league in the meantime ! Come on lads leave it.
And 2 champions leagues 3 if they beat RM on Sat
They were always good cup sides Liverpool
@@greglyons2526 triggered much?
@@monrush its like you like saying "triggered much?" And just throw it in anywhere now, even when it makes zero sense.. How is this someone being triggered?
@@murthunt1047 ah ok. Well I'll go slowly junior just for you treacle. See someone made a joke or had a dig at the great Liverpool winning a single league title in the 20 years since the Roy Keane WC incident and rather than taking the joke. This , what I'm assuming Liverpool fan, had to counter it with a "2 champions leagues" comment so. In conclusion he/she was "triggered" or in another word "bit" rather than taking the joke. 2 champions Leagues and can only win the same number of premier League titles as Leicester... 😂😂😂. There's no point in being the biggest dog in the next town when you're not even the biggest dog in your own yard.
Can’t Mcateer afford a pc with a webcam
Egos got the better of em all, 4got what it was like to be a child watching a world cup.....park your differences aside. But as the manager, it has to fall on Micks lap for me
Rubbish from average ex players and poor journalism. And such a boring story at this stage. McAteer is a sap some of his comments on the team and standards of professionalism are more suitable for a pub team. Joker
I'm too young to remember this, but genuinely who is McAteer?? Why is he talking about Roy Keane - the most popular premier league commentator and footballing legend...who is so respected by other legends. No clue who these people are. You need a better social media strategy OTB - this stuff is not going to drive engagement
Mcateer on keanes level, no, not as a footballer nor as a man
It was handled so so very badly by everybody, including Roy, however he was one aspect of this whole debacle. The FAI, Mick McCarthy and ALL the players were all at fault. The reason these ex players don't want to talk about it is they were all culpable!! He wanted things to be the very best they could be. Players like Jason McAteer, David Connelly etc, where bang on average players at best and not in Keane's class. They all should of stood up and reasoned with McCarthy to make the peace, so Roy was right, they were cowards who hadn't the guts to fight for what was right!
What ever you say about the lads, its Roy who walked out in my mind he left his country down . he could have put his differences aside and sorted it out later.
@@patodonovan274what gets overlooked is the newspaper article Keane did that led to the slanging match with McCarthy. Keane slated the FAI, McCarthy and the other players and must have known it would cause an issue. He could've waited til after the tournament to air his views. To me it seems Keane engineered a situation that would cause a confrontation with McCarthy and lead to Keane going home. Looks like he just didn't wanna be there and this high standards stuff is just a smokescreen.
At least Jason realised Roy was right . Respect to him for being man enough to admit it only 20 years later 🙏
Why do off the ball hate Roy Keane so much 😅 the lads are absolutely obsessed
Should have flown straight into Japan, Japanese would have laid on world class training facilities. Only went to Saipan because Mick's friend lived there. Mick didn't even travel to Saipan ahead of time to check the training pitch.
Totally agree with y’a dude, Saipan was and is a dust bowl and the facilities are still rubbish. In Japan they had everything laid on and ready to go…… of course there is another story on that ridiculous choice of Saipan !
Jason McIntyre never won anything wasn't good enough to play for England we send home the only world class player we had Roy Keane won everything in the game if Roy Keane grandmother was English England would do everything in their power to get in to play for England so that tells me everything I want to know about Jason McIntyre
Can't remember any Jason McIntyre playing for Ireland.
McAteer is a joke, he’s a spice boy that tells you everything you need to know about him
Typical tactic mick used ,line up the chaps call a meeting, provoke Roy get a reaction and then job done, typical conquer and divide ,Roy the mad bad boy and all the macateers rub their hands
As if keane is still bothered by mcateer. Cluxton should've hit him harder to knock a bit of sense into him.
the whole thing was a shambles on both sides
Funniest story about Jack's Ireland team is the Irish PM paying a surprise visit and half the players didnt have a clue who tf he even was.
WHO Backed, ROY up on the, PROBLEMS at the time.
Yikes, listening to David Connolly is hard work 😐🔫.
Get to the point man!
Just thinking the same...its like he has tourettes without the swearing.
I never thought you could find a more boring, rambling interviewee than McAteer but David Connolly wins hands down
Keane was ultimately the villain. He put his mood ahead of his country. Ireland could have won a World cup.
Lots of Irish players here 😂😂😂😂😂
It’s just like a kettle, it blew up.
Mcateer wasnt fit to clean Keane's boots.. and I ain't no fan of Roy but come on let's not distort history
That's a wonderful Irish accent you have Mr McAteer. You just know Keane HATED all the plastic Paddy's..
Ya, and he said as much to Mick, which was a big reason he was right to send him home. Robbie Keane by contrast was noted by many like Steven Reid for example for going above and beyond to make sure they felt welcome in the squad. I know which Keane I'd rather as Ireland captain.
@@stypemann633 he sure did. Keane absolutely hated the fact that the Ireland team was full of players who probably had never stepped foot in the country before being selected to represent them.
@@stypemann633 robbie keane another average player with no winning mentality, what was it 1 league cup at tottenham and then couldn't cut it at liverpool so went off to the MLS when going got tough
@@shutup2751 If Robbie Keane's your idea of an average player, you have very refined taste... or you're just an idiot
Without the children of the diaspora they weren't qualifying for this or any world cup.
David your a billy hunt, on the same level 😂
Keane was just a winner
and his opinions should of been taken into consideration
@Val O'Connell he has made a few quid from being crap sir
@Val O'Connell who would u like as a pundit sir
Oftb seem to realy like to knock keane, it comes off a bit elitist to me.
Roy Keane was the greatest midfielder that has ever livid but he was also an angry stubborn tw** and absolutely anti social. But most geniuses are and thats just how it is.
He was a great midfielder but no way was he the greatest Bobby Charlton, Zidane and Gullit to name but 3 were significantly better
He wasn’t anti social at all? Why you think that?
"Naval gazing" journalism. Such a lack of originality. Telling that this is the standard of OTB content, plus the most significant event in McAteer's career (and he's delighted to think he's relevant). I'm sure we'll see another roll out of this tripe in 5 and 10 years time. Never would see this on BT, Sky, BBC or decent fan channels.
Such a non-story from McAteer as usual. Boring as the come.
This is pure drivel. Terrible stuff.
Roy Keane was the only world class player Ireland had....maybe ever.....he had standards that should've been the norm and he was right to pack it in IMO.
typical palites interviewing two non Irish players. maybe get an Irish born player lads
Mcteer what a joke!
The training surface was a joke and if a player had broken an ankle in a pothole the whole story would be different . Keane wanted the best for the Irish Team and unfortunately Saipan was the wrong venue for the training camp. Why should Keane or any of the players have had to risk an injury on that sh$t training surface?
Never heard of Connolly
Neither had Roy Keane
This some load of rubbish.
I wish if any player from that time were to speak about it just say it as they saw it not butter up other players and manager then give a non story about themselves.
Also the only people that have the right to chat about this don't even want to talk about it anymore.
Move on OTB
Really really really old news
OTB are starting to get stale
How excited Jason get on making millions on the filming, goes to show he's milking this to make money.
Did McAteer refer to himself as "an elite sportsman"????
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Mcateer legend
exactly one foot in his mouth the other for kicking ball whereas keane is legends both feet and the medals to proove it ...
I blame it all on Ian harte
so jason mcateer is on the John "ill take a 5 million bribe from FIFA to avoid a replay over the henry handball" Delany camp . says it all relly doesnt it ???
the myth of keane grows and grows...
Eh?
Roy Keane legend these mugs nothing and two English mugs pretending they are irish
He was pivotal in getting Ireland to Saipan with some awesome performances in the qualifiers, and to put Mc Ateer in the same bracket as Keane is nonsense, how we could do with him today, Mc Ateer is a spoofer.
I am a life long Liverpool fan . And Jason wasn't that great.
@@alcoyne3333333333333 I remember being gutted Mcateer joined Liverpool instead of arsenal(my team) at the time but have to say he didn’t do much at Liverpool
Two losers. Im a Liverpool fan and connelly saying mc ateer was on keanes level is laughable
Mc carthys man management was terrible. The elite managers like fergie, klopp, ancelotti and pep etc all know hiw to deal with people like keane.
Mick simply did not
