Great review. I think a lot of people fail to appreciate the clarity of Elgato's 60FPS image, as shown here. Way too often webcams look really blurry and even "lagging behind" the audio. (However, I'd still prefer a slightly wider field of view, and maybe an optional autofocus system.)
Just received mine today but it won't save the settings to the camera; go figure. It seems the BRAND NEW cord that comes with the Facecams suck. I just ordered a NEW cord for my NEW Elagato facecam.

Hello, I enjoyed the comparison. Having recently bought a Brio I recently ,regretted the purchase which I'd gone for the slightly more expensive Facecam (Got the Brio for $160). On the Brio, I had terrible blurring. Fortunately I found a video that explained I could fix that by reducing the exposure. I assume if I increase the exposure it compensates by slowing the shutter speed. I never would have figured that out. The Facecam's software allows you the ability to control both separately so I would have understood what was going on right away. And I keep my Brio on auto focus. I don't bother with the autofocus so I might as well have the Facecam. I do have a question about something you said in your video. Can you elaborate on why you shouldn't connect more than one webcam to a computer? I am still eyeing the Facecam and considering using the Brio for a second wide angle side shot.
Make up for exposure with good lighting. A couple big softlights are basically required to get smooth video that's bright enough.

does Elgato make sense for online yoga sessions? where distance from camera is 2-2.5 meters? (does depth of focus go to infinity?)
You can always get an extension cord to being it closer.

Make sure you have updated the firmware in Brio. It will fix your focus issue.

elgato seems better the brio....more clarity...Definitely better color and I see it's dropped in price. I'm definitely considering it. I do unboxing and collectible reviews. auto focus is something I prefer but....that's the only con. but I might use my cell for those type of shots. I've been using c922 and kiyo pro. thanks for awesome video

Imho you should really have set the Brio to manual Focus after you made your point.
Looking at the out of focus image all the time, while you explain the rest of the differences does not add to the value of the comparison.
Of course the Elgato has no issue with the Autofocus - as it is a fixed focus... it also has no sound-quality issues - as it has no mic. Don't get me wrong on these - I in deed tend to think it was a bold decision from Elgato skipping these "another checkmark on the marketing-slides" features, knowing they in real world use are not adding value.
Besides others I have a Brio here and tested the manual Focus - there more or less only is one reasonable setting, where everything from 50cm to infinity is in focus. So if you are not holding up things close to the cam in your stream the Elgato-way is better for most users - avoid any anoying AF-issues, by simply fixing the focus to the close hyperfocal distance of this small sensors.
Similar to mic - though the Brio has one of the better webcam-mics... even cheap headsets or dedicated USB/XLR-mics blow it out of the water, as you simply can't get decent sound so far away from the sound-source with small mics.

Yea, the Brio is harder to set up. And the compressed dynamic range indeed is an issue. This beauty filter effect was my biggest gripe with it. My biggest gripe with the Elgato FaceCam was the noise. Please somebody, Anybody, make a real big sensor webcam with decent glass! Even if it was 400$/€ I’d be happy to pay that for something to be on system camera level.
If you are willing to spend that much money, why not just buy an actual camera? Go for a used body and a single wide lens.

Great video once again! I have the Brio because I bought it years ago and I feel its quality just continues to decline. Not sure if those Logi's were built well. Excited to have another USB option on the market to recommend to people who want that plug and play.

My friend Mary told me that Luria quoted me in this. I'm #fanmaturegurrrling right now. If I could go back in time I would def get the Elgato Facecam over the Brio. Oh but then the Facecam wouldn't bet out yet. Anyway as usual Elgato wins.

@@RiccardoLulli Exactly. The consensus is, the Brio is still the best picture. The Elgato looked good here, but as you said, the Brio usually takes the cake in other comparisons. Also the Brio looks amazing when you are able to see its field of view, but instead the comparison had it cropped right around here face. It also looked like she had it slightly out of focus. Like at 03:32, she's digitally zooming on the Brio lol
Ok, I gotta admit it: I can't stand that fuzzy look from the Brio in your video. I'm a Brio owner and I've stuck with it because of the $$ I spent on it but if I were doing it again, I'd go with the El Gato now. I'm not in the market for a new webcam tho, I'm saving for an A6100

I just set up the Brio. It looks waaaay sharper than it does in this review. No problems with focus at all. She clearly is just pimping the Elgato.
LOL, nope, not even a little. Everyone's preference is unique to them, to their goals, and their studio set up. If the Brio works for you, that's great!
I don't understand why reviewers often just leave the Brio's focus on auto. You don't need a simpler setup to get the camera to focus on you, you just need to fix the focus to a set distance (e.g. OBS properties > configure video > uncheck focus). This won't work for a creator that sits down and gets up and does activities or whatever in the background since you'd have to adjust it frequently, but works for everyone else and is essential for a better comparison. Even for the Elgato, if you're not significantly changing distance from the lens on camera, locking the focus is desireable to prevent those random autofocus attemps that are not intended.
I mean it's pretty clear the elgato was optimized and the brio wasn't. I could tell right away. And then I saw your description plastered with Elgato links and it was impossible to deny that this was not an honest comparison.
Hi there! Both cameras were using the default settings, same lighting, etc. Also, not everyone felt that the Elgato looked better.

Facecam is better than logitech. it's a sharper camera with softer colors

The elgato frame rate is better.
With studio lightings you can't give the correct review. Infact, I watched this video, bought Elgato cam and it is the worse cam. Even worse than the cam on my Macbook. One needs proper lighting for these cams to work
