You, sir, for whatever technical reason, are seemingly the one and only person on RUclips who managed to get a pretty detailed, high quality picture out of the Logitech Streamcam. The picture quality in your video is leaps and bound beyond the picture quality of any other reviewer. I'm inclined to suspect that you apply some kind of sorcery.
Streamcam image looks flat like most webcams, colors are less overly intense. Facecam image looks more 3d to me. Pretty cool. Colors are a little overly intense though.
I have the Elgato Facecam, and I regret it. I should've went for the Logi streamcam or waited for the Newer facecam. Keep in mind that the "Prime Lens" on the facecam also means FIXED focus which I obnoxiously missed. I assumed focus is a natrual thing for webcams thesedays especially at this price range. Also the f2.2 is a gimmick. One good strength of Prime lenses is the focal, bokeh, and sharpness. Believe me when I say, that's not the case here. Unless you add digital sharpness and digital everything else, this cam is CRAP. Now, I know my thing with cameras and lenses so I can spot these right away. Sure, it's no Canon M50, but for this price range, I expect it to be better than the streamcam - NO. Major Major cons: -NO focus adjustment -f2.2 is a LIE. the lens feels like an f4 at best(Which means there is little to NO BACKGROUND SEPARATION: No BOKEH whatsoever) -Needs tonsht of lighting to achieve anything higher than 30fps. For a webcam, the lens is actually good. Sensor is big, so I expect better lighting absorption - NO, this is not the case here. The big "Prime Lens" on this camera is a Gimmick, and I got scammed. I'd like to be minimalistic with my keylights, but you can't on this one. Otherwise, you'll lose a lot of Dynamic range. Blacks crushed, grains everywhere, and it's just simply bland af. -The software is also crap, you'll end up not using the Elgato Camera Hub at all. That thing is primitive. use a 3rd party software to conf. -Overall this camera feels like it came out on a rush. It's not a finished product at all. Whoever thought a "Prime lens" is a good idea for a streaming webcam, Elgato should fire that MF. This is why they were too quick to launch the newer version of this. Because immediately, they realized how fked this camera is. Also $100 more expensive for the new one btw. Never buying anything elgato again. EVER. Logitech Pros over this: -Covers everything mentioned about Facecam, and does it btter. Also, doesn't lie about their specs. Cons: -They have a less sophisticated sensor and lens than FACECAM, but somehow they've put the logi lens to better output quality by 10x elgato.
Your summary of the Elgato Facecam perfectly captures what I experienced as well. You need way to much light to achieve 60fps. Logitech Streamcam is the better option for people not filming right next to the sun.
F2.4 probably isn't a lie. Just with a wide angle lens you're not going to get shallow depths of field unless you've got your face right up against the lens (and the value of any aperture is going to vary based on lens size versus sensor size anyway). So its only value in practical terms is to allow more light to reach the sensor in comparison to a similarly specified lens with a smaller maximum aperture.
Facecam can look better which makes sense due to the same sensor as the PW513 and Razer's pro webcam. But the Logitech Streamcam has been down to 100 euros which is 50% of the Facecam price. If I was a content creator, I think I'd rather get 2 Streamcams vs 1 Facecam which may look a bit better. Luckily I just use it for office work so I guess having a Streamcam is even very overkill. haha
Thanks for the video! It would’ve been cool if we could see a comparison between the 2 with you going in and manually adjusting the settings in the software for each to what you thought looked best and comparing those outcomes as well.
Facecam seems to be slightly better. Considering Streamcam costs around 80€ in Germany at the moment and Facecam 140€, I don’t think the difference in quality justifies the 75% higher price. So I’ll go with the Streamcam.
Good choice. I have the Facecam, and it's TERRIBLE. Really really bad design. Specs on paper looks good, but actuality of this camera is Trash. Elgato should stick to Audio. Their f2.2 "Prime Lens" and other specs is a gimmick. Don't fall for that. Also, the camera hub software is on early stages, preventing maximizing the potential of this lens. It's a waste of good hardware on bad backend.
I'm from Brazil and I'm very grateful for this review. I didn't find any video in Portuguese about this comparison. So thank you very much for making this super detailed video 🫶
Logitech Streamcam have huge problem with fps issue and even bigger when try plug in to usb-a adapter. So i pass to buy it. Many people have toons of problems with this cam and forums all full of problems.
@theprovokedprawn how do you delete the ring light in your glasses? 17:00, did you turn them off? or was a software? cause i couldn't notice the difference!
I have the stream am and it’s a good camera. Only problem is the Capture SW sucks. Top that off it does not work on Apple silicon… so newer macs need not apply…. The Facecam looks like it’s leapfrogged the Logitech.
I have the streamcam and I think that it definitely looks better, but since the software tries to be a capture source I've found it to be a pain in the butt to integrate with OBS streamlabs.
@@meganschafer7329 I wouldn't use Logi Capture for OBS. You can use the Logitech G HUB and/or using the webcam properties if you add it in as a video capture device and go to properties. It helps me a lot with getting perfect settings.
@@AlsoXanderOnYT excellent, thanks, I'll fiddle with that. I have been wanting to find a way to record my stream and my webcam separately so that I could add it in or take it out as I'd like.

@@gethappy360 very strange! I watched about a dozen reviews from big names before I purchased and didn’t hear anyone mention that. Sounds like an awful experience. Glad it’s not been mine or anyone I know but sorry you’ve gone through that!
The Logitech Stream Cam is genuinely aesthetically pleasing.
I agree

Thanks for a very thorough comparison!

i guess it's not worth upgrading my Streamcam then. Would be great if you could do a comparison with the new Dell 4k Webcam too 😊
Such a peaceful and amazing analyse. Great voice by the way,

@@TheProvokedPrawn I definitely did after I saw you dressed as a Prawn in another one of your videos.
I just ordered the stream cam but the face cam is looking better in your video
Whitch one is better than ?
The logitech stream cam makes you look more ruddy (too much red sat) and there is aliasing around the rim of your glasses.
Might be a stupid question, but why the rubber gloves?
Cut my hands on something and didn't want people complaining 😂

Man i really wanna buy this. have to compare it to the dell ultrasharp and the razer kiyo pro first to be sure.
Are you able to save Streamcam settings each time youopenOBS? I've seen that the Facecam settings are saved but not sure about the Streamcam.
In the OBS you have to chose Logitech application as the camera not the default stream cam. So you can get the changed camera settings in the OBS
Hi, what is the screen size of the laptop shown in 6:00. want to take a reference how big it will be on my laptop. thanks
It was the MSI GF65 Thin - 15.6 inches

Iv had nothing but trouble with the Elgato since I got it I regret buying it.

im getting uncomfortable just seeing the amount of background processes
Logitech Streamcam owner here. It's junk IMHO. There are better cameras out there including the Facecam.
you need to talk about how the elgoto has a bunch of problems with freezing
I can only talk about what I experienced and i didn't have that issue.
I've been using the facecam 10-60 hours a week for the last 18 months and have never run into that issue. Is it widespread?
