My favorite band of all ! I am a percussionist and I learned it by watching Butch and Jamo and the band love them all. The different members that have come and gone. Miss them all so much thank God for recordings. Rip all of you!

I saw them in 76 aft the Bayfront Center I remember that one I was preg with my first child.sober lol this band made me pick up a guitar in 1972 first Isong learned was Sweet Melissa. Still play it today. With many others. . 68 to 72 killer music. I couldn't stand it any longer. Got me a guitar and have not put it down since last time counted I know 146 songs. I'm sure I left some out. Soooo much killer. Music I would say 68 ,to 95 we're my best years in music. Those times can never be repeated.
Jeez. These guys were absolutely awesome! Wish I could've seen them live in their heyday. At least we have concert footage to watch 😎👍 the next best thing.
YEAH THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND YOU ARE THE BEST IT IS 5 O CLOCK I WOKE UP AN HOUR AGO NOW I AM LISTENING THE NEWS ON MY RADIO YOU BOYS AND GIRLS ARE REAL LEGENDS I AM DRINKING MY COFFEE SMOKING AND LISTENING TO YOU I LIKE IT
Dickie's playing is amazing but the ladies all agree, we loved looking at Gregg😘 His vocals were so effortless, iconic and the most recognizable element of the ABB. Rest in peace Gregg.
U ain't lying. I have an older cousin who is in love with him, so much so it was agreed upon by her husband, a big fan, if she got the chance to sleep with him she could lol. Alive obviously to any jokesters. Shes a very attractive woman too.🤣👍
I cannot believe that they played Pat Metheny's "San Lorenzo" over the PA when the band took their encore break. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, since they were into all sorts of jazz (and Jai was a jazz drummer), but I did a double take when I heard that. Probably the most beautiful tune I've ever heard. I wonder whose idea that was.
Lucky you. I didn’t get to see The Allman Brothers live until 1992 (twice), & 1994. By 1980 I had already seen Black Sabbath, Yes, Jethro Tull, Kansas, & Rush. It took me 12 years to catch on. Once I did they became one of my all time favorites. When Gov’t Mule formed, I’d catch them live whenever I could. Then after Dickey was fired I would see him & Great Southern live whenever they played annually from 2006-2014! Dickey is such an amazing guitarist, song writer & musician!!!
I probably shouldn't bring this up because hey we all have a past but I think Greg was wired. watch his mouth movements and moving his Jaws. But let me tell you everyday 60% of the music I listen to probably is Gregg Allman I just wish I would have had the opportunity to have met him I think he was kind of guy that wouldn't matter what Walk of Life you came from if he liked you he would befriend you
John M: Dickie Betts - such a fantastic technical guitarist. But with so much feeling that is unmistakable. And great licks and superb timing. Plus his singing! It's hard to believe he was eventually fired, this iconic Brother who carried the group after Duane died. ABB would not have a top 10 hit with Ramblin Man. Not to mention Blue Sky, Liz Reed, High Falls, Southbound . . . What a freakin tragedy! And though Great Southern lasted some 10 years, it never equaled his success with ABB.
The 1st ABB show I attended was January 78 @ the capital, Passaic Snow storm canceled the first show and they performed anyway 🎭 😊 2nights at the capital...awwwwsomeness. my first ABB shows. The palladium, MSG w.run DMC, AEROSMITH . Lots'a more shows at the capital, n.j. Dicky Betts band opening for Greg Allman band @ stone pony. Lots'a shows, awwwwsome memories
Dickey Betts wrote all the commercial hits this band had, sang and was the glue after Gregg went on his heroin voyage. Most under rated guitar player in history,
Well...aside from megahit #2 Ramblin' Man, not really. Then they had to eventually kick Betts out and show-cased the duo of Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks - Amazing! They had success on the Mainstream Rock Charts in the 90s forward. Saw Dickey Betts Band solo - they were great!
I truly feel for the youngins today, who have no concept of 🎶🎵🎶..ya know the real true organic tunes played by chicks n dudes who sat in their rooms practicing guitar, drums, keyboards, whatever, listening to music they wanted to learn, taping themselves over n over again..loving the grind qnd praying one day, they could be 1/2 as fabulous..or Was that just Me😊
historic music I will allways consider ABB the greatest Southern Rock band of all time and Dicky as one of the most talanted and underrated guitarist of his time. With that said however, in my humble opnion, they just never got the spine tingling sound back on Whipping Post and Dreams that they had with Duane and Dickey together. I think Gregg even eluded to that in an interview. This is not to say ABB went on to create historic music that has and will stand the test of time. At 62, revisiting the old ABB has sparked the passion in me to pick up my guitar and bluers harp and get back at it.
You're partly right about losing that magic when it comes to the loss of the leader, Duane,, but that's how it is with everything that's artistically intended to touch our emotions/senses! But like most things in life, they're sort of ~Seasonal~ and we have to grow and adapt to differences how or what they may be! This is life my friend!!!! God bless!!!
No artist or band can keep the "urgency and fire" of youth alive forever, it's simply impossible. Even if Duane had lived, they would not have sounded the same in 1980 as they did in 1971, which was their absolute apex. And IMO that was the best that any band ever was playing that particular style of blues rock, it was transcendent.
Just a little note. The Allman Bros was not a Southern rock band and Duane indicated he disliked that label. They were essentially a blues based rock band. I accept that Dickey would sometimes move in that direction.
Pat Hesselgrave very true Bonnie Bramlet looks send sounds like Dale Krantz Rossington..she is married to Lynerd Skynerd founding member Gary Rossington...they both are underestmated singers...they don't make them like this anymore.... Skynerd was great too we are from the same area they all where from God bless you and yours

Best Band Ever puts that great feeling in you man ........................my mom took me to see them back in Fillmore East 1970/1971 God Like ! Oh Lord
First heard the Allman Brothers in the late 60s/early 70's Ramblin Man. Got to see them numerous times, one time in Lenox MA in 1981, got there of Friday afternoon with three friends in my 69 Mustang, we just left from class in high school and headed to Lenox. There was an open field where everyone Parked. For three nights we slept in the field in or on my car. More friends from my hometown showed up with food.....Mind candy was a constant and when Sunday afternoon came around at 3 PM Eddie money played for three hours as the back up band and then the Allman Brothers came on around 6 pm and played until midnight, best I ever saw them, just like this. we got pulled over by the police on the way home, empty beers all over the back seat floor, the cops looked at my friend chuck and said "You look like you had a rough weekend" gave me a 25 dollar ticket for speeding and sent us on our way. Those were the days. God Bless Greg Allman, may he rest in peace and he is with his brother now
That's SOUTHERN Rock! They set the table for Skynrd, Marshall Tucker Band, and so many more. Check out The Atlanta Rhythm Section if you like this. It's got a touch of something else. Hope you like it.
Toler was amazing...this show is a poor example..but, he adds an eerie, haunting quality to these songs which are known and remembered by the way Duane with Betts did them...big shoes to fill. RIP
Possibly a little too much top end @ times. I think I preferred the late Allan Woody, but he wasn't part of the picture yet. Also Bonnie's vocals work great with Dickies, but perhaps put the tambourine down.
I love watching all videos with The Allman Brothers Band and I'm thankful that this was shared. Yes, Dangerous Dan fit and was excellent. However, I completely agree with Gregg that Goldflies` bass style and playing was not for The Allman Brothers Band. The Allman Brothers Band was the far best Band ever. Period. Their worst night was still better than other bands.
this is an extension of the enlightened rogues tour I saw them in 79-80 and 81 the first tour was best without the idiot kbd player who would pull out his ketar. I saw them at the greek theater here in LA later in 1980 I was 10 rows back that was amazing I was right in line with toler's amplifier and it was LOUD!
I have loved and listened to the Allmans constantly for over 40 years. When Gregg sounds like he does hear even he would admit now he was wrecked. Dickey ,Dan and the rest sound ok though. Thanks for posting!!
@Cash Watkins I have to admit this time, he was not ready for the strength of whatever he took that night. Plus, I believe he had Belushi back stage and those two together = trouble. I have watched each video separately too. Betts pretty much hold it together. A year later to the day, they played the Capitol again...with pretty much the same results. It is the least of the best...from a true blue fan. This is great for historic reasons, though. He was only human after all...he even looks uncomfortable....
Whomever it is that decides when to cut for a commercial break ought to be taken out and slapped repeatedly. Breaking in to the middle of a song for a commercial should be a criminal offense!
I saw g Gregg in Macon Gearga, and went to the big house and the graves of Duane and Berry on a wonderful journey. Trip was partly sunny and partly bad. 💘
My favorite band of all ! I am a percussionist and I learned it by watching Butch and Jamo and the band love them all. The different members that have come and gone. Miss them all so much thank God for recordings. Rip all of you!
Hands Down, The BEST Band Ever to Come out of the U'S'A, This Music will Live On as long as People Can Hear, Cousin Figel
You got that one right
Best improvisational southern Rock/Blues band in history. Mr. RhythmMan once use to say, "It's close enough to be jazz."
Saw them at the capital theater in 72. On of the true great live bands.
I love when musicians recognize their talents and decide they have something special to offer the world..and go for it.
Are u ok?
I'm at that point now with my guitar playing. There's a difference between I can play the guitar and I have something fresh to offer the world.

Indeed
It's more luck to have the chance than anything else lol but yeah music is cool
The man's voice and his soul was meant to play and sing the blues.
Incredibly good concert. I didnt mean to watch any of it but couldn't turn it off. God, they're fantastic!!
Remember this like it was yesterday ,Capitol Theater was always a great venue ! Few days after NewYeats 1980 , RIP Brothers
I was blessed to see the greatest American rock and roll band of all time . Ty

Dangerous Dan Toler was a gem. RIP to all the ABB band members who have left us.
Can you imagine being Toler and Betts jamming together like butter....smooth, Fun!!
Dangerous Dan's guitar playing is fantastic. His lead guitar playing on One Way Out from this show is tremendous. 🎸
I feel for "Dangerous Dan," ALS took my grandmother, and it's a terrible way to die. RIP Dan Toler.
DANGEROUS DAN TOLER one heck of a guitar man !
This is such a beautiful concert 🎶🎼😇🌍🎶🙌🌞

I stopped counting shows 17 starting in 1970...
I did❤🌴😎
I saw the original group. This group is good but not AS good.
@@rickc9539 Dan Toler, Warren Haynes, good players but Duane was unique.
So agreed
And don' t to forget Berry Oakley.
This is my second YT live. The first 1.5 minutes were just as good as a Dead concert. Not that I've been to one of those either...
I'm in n heaven on a Saturday morn 7:23am..got these beautiful musicians in my home....dont get any better.. .

I've probably watched this 20 times in its entirety so far this month. Talk about an overall great performance by everyone. Great show!
Didnt know Jaimoe smoked,,,,
Whipping Post seems off. Even for an epic live show.
Gregg Allman- Keyboards, vocal, Dickey Betts- guitars and vocals, Dan Toler- guitar, Dsvid Goldflies- bass, Butch Trucks- drums, Jai Johnny Johnsen- drums, Bonnie Bramlett- vocals, tambourine
Dickie's playing is amazing but the ladies all agree, we loved looking at Gregg😘 His vocals were so effortless, iconic and the most recognizable element of the ABB.

It's about the music boys. Duane was the driving force. I love Greg's voice so blue. Could you imagine having a voice like that at 17?!?
His penis was said to be a full three inches long.
I cannot believe that they played Pat Metheny's "San Lorenzo" over the PA when the band took their encore break. The instrumental beyond believe .
But Greggorys singing is out of this world !!!!!!
