This is good quality audio and video of the complete show and a strong performance by this lineup, which included Bonnie Bramlett. Following the drum solos in the middle of "Pegasus," John Belushi joins the band onstage and sings "Hey Bartender." This was broadcast live on WNEW so fans are very familiar with this show. - Видеоклипы
Wow, just amazing. This was the heyday of concerts. Dickey and Dan were such a great duo. Dan was so underrated and so was Dickey for that matter. Butch and Jaimoe were always the best. I wish I could go back and live it all over again. I was a senior in HS when this took place and all of the shows were just raw talent. God bless all of those who have passed for the great music and memories that will last for generations.
You too young but you would have love their 1970 concert Live at the Fillmore. With Duane Allman laying down the best live LP ever produced. 2 months before we lost him.
what a time to be alive!! this footage is impeccable 🔥
Condolences to family and friends of Mr. Betts passing at 80 years of age, #music is best. Thank you kindly for sharing this wonderful group of musicians. #CALSON 🐬 Dickey Betts - vocals, guitar
Dickey is a total MONSTER guitar player. Wow.
The dangerous Dan Toler mix! How did I miss this video for so many years?!!
I was the Bus Driver and Gregs bodyguard on the Pegasus Tour!!
talk to us.. lol

Sooo glad this recording exists! The energy of this incredible show still blows my mind. For Elizabeth Reed … Greg hopping all over the keyboards barely contained … most stunning live version! Thank you
I have loved the Allman Brothers since the 70s and always believed that Gregg Allman was one of the best blues singers ever not to mention the incredible talent of Dicky Betts and Duanne Allman. I finally got to see Gregg in 2015 at the San Diego County Fair and didn't regret a minute of it although I missed the great guitar undertones which were replaced by more horns, etc. to Gregg's delight and will. RIP Gregg thanks for the great music!
Oh and let's not forget Gregg hammering that Hammond B3!!
This mix of rock, roll,rb ,blues and whatever else shit whatever you can think of!!!!!!! they was creating this unique sweet, heartfelt and warming and you know it was the inspiration point blank....
Dicky Betts made this work...saw Great Southern at a sm. venue In Mid-Coast Maine in 2004! He rocked our town out..Please come Back! Smokin Great time!
This deserves a video, and audio remastering...this's really one of the greatest bands of Blues Rock !...
They should have fired the guy that was operating the microphone.
Always on the lookout for another great Liz Reed and this doesn’t disappoint!!
The average age of the kids in the audience 17 today mid 50's and still recall the day they saw, heard and experienced the Allman Brothers band live for the first time. Wishing for days to be like they had been. No worries no fears no problems just a moment in time to rock, roll shake your butt and forget the problems of life. may the circle be unbroken Some day!
I try very hard to play the music of our youth. Actually just came from banf practice & looking to cover something by them.
Dickey was on fire this show. He is one of the best!!!
Dickey was at his peak here after the band added Toler, an excellent player who enhanced the pure ABB sound. The slide and sheer ferocious musical intensity of Duane will ever be missed as long as people "appreciate" music.
I'd almost forgotten how it felt to be from Georgia, gettin' high, and groovin yer ass off with the best band to ever come from Georgia. TX for bringing it all back--everything but the buds burnin.
Either them or the Dead is the best American band EVER. Am I wrong?
Florida band originally
twin guitar ,double drummer just brutal music still is unforgivable
One of the best ABB concerts of all time and a milestone of the genre that will forever remain in the History of truly good Music!
i wish music today still sounded like this....sigh
+valerie lonn theres stuff like this out thier you just gotta look for it. but yea the new music makes me wanna vomit fucken overproduced bullshit. fucken kanye west, taylor swift, justin bieber can all die for all i care
+valerie I'm trying... It's hard to get musicians to play this stuff nowadays... meh..
it is..i play bass myself..well allman brothers are hard to cover...but thier are alot of hippie shows in this country with classic country rock bands they just funk it up a bit. also bluegrass is kind of getting more popular and the younger guys make it more rockin.
+69zenos1 eecchh
+69zenos1 i think you have the wrong idea, i am a 58 year old russian man, valerie is a common MAN's name in russia. do not ever email me again, i am not into that shit
I was 10 years old and to think this awesome concert was occurring withing walking distance to my house..
It must be amazing to play in a band that good.
Gregg Allman by far was the greatest white blues singer to ever write and sing the blues
Saw this line here n at MSG . Simply an Allmanific performance 😊
Dan Tolier was a great guy. and a kickass player, RIP brother.
Bassplayersayer: I'm with you. Marvelous group interaction on Liz Reed - and Dan's beautiful solo. Dan's work having up Gregg on Not My Cross to Bear and It Just Ain't Easy can make you cry.
Dan Toler did dual leads with Dickey better than anyone after Duane died. More in tune and a better mesh than with Warren.
@@larryn2682 Totally respect your opinion. But Dickey himself said that the reason they brought Warren into ABB was because he was the only one that didn’t play too much like Dickey…they didn’t need someone copping Dickey’s style and Warren pushed Dickey to be better. Not my words, but his.
I was there and it was in color.
I would give anything to have been there!
Last time I saw ABB I was seeing many colors.
Dave S I can relate. 😎
Dave S lol. Good one!
did the "The Band" follow. if so me too.
Dickey's tone here is heavenly.....love it..perfection
We lost the great Dickie Betts last night. What a killer Guitarist and what an amazing experience the ABB was. Absolutely the most destructive solo on Whipping Post I have ever heard. Hands down iMO "THE" Godfathers of Southern Rock and with the deepest roots in THE BLUES! Brother Jamoi is the last man standing now.
DICKEY BETTS - ONE TIME AROUND - he was the man - his knowledge of music went way past the blues and country rock - he liked Django Reinhardt - and other musicians that we would think he never knew of - Yes DICKEY BETTS a true All - American rocker !
Gregs contribution to this music as a keyboardist is so often overlooked. His blues powered chording and jazz riffs were a major part of the Allman Brothers sound.
i was there and it still gives me chills, i consider myself so fortunate to have expierienced this great night along with countless others with the ABB
This is when Dickey was leading the Band. As always the " Brothers" kicked ass live. I always dug Goldflies bass playing.
This should be played in church because it's the only music that touches my soul.
Touched my holes
I feel like I need to go to rehab just for watching this video

@@janetmobilia9572 … always one who has to be the cop … and just not getting it
Get well Greg, You are revered by many. There will never be a band as fine as this ever again.
Gregg
RIP Gregg thanks for all the Jams...
Fun Facts on the theater in which this was filmed:
- had it's own in house light show run by former Fillmore East crew under Bill Graham
- became the new Fillmore after the Fillmore East and West closed
- was a former Vaudeville theater and it had perfect acoustical properties due to grading of floors and walls, and the batting on the walls (this is why acts like Springsteen's Sept 1978 three night stand are legendary bootlegs today: the sounds the place allowed were unmatched for power and ferocity)
- after Vaudeville era, and before the 1970's when it became a music venue, it was a porn theater, showing adult films to men who would literally sit in there all day and .... yes, that. True.
Very historic venue for Rock and Roll. Everyone played the Capital from Prince to Springsteen to Stevie Ray Vaughan and The Dead and The Clash. amazing place
damn that's crazy ! thanks for sharing hahah
dangerous dan's solo in statesboro is perfection
The years go by, and no other band makes me feel like this one does. It just reaches places inside my soul that the rest just can't. I'm not saying they all suck. It's just something no other band has ever made me feel. Only the great ABB! So sad they're not around anymore. I guess some torches just don't get passed, right? RIP Brothers.
I just painted Whitby Abbey - as years go by -
Dickey Betts was a bad ass. Love watching him play.
Patricia Reihing No. Dickie IS a badass.
The worst blue sky I ever heard coke was killing the music
Yes he was. One of my favorite all time guitarist.
With bandaged right hand no less.
I think I preferred Dickey before he became a "badass". When his temper started to take over, it was nothing but trouble.
Another fine concert by The Bros. The epitome of what Southern Rock is all about.
Enlightened Rogues is One of my Favorit Allman Brothers
Band Albums - I like the Comeback 1978/79 with Dan Toler as the
second Leadguitarist !!!
I was 19 and in my dorm at Rutgers listening on WNEW FM. Gregg Allman R.I.P. 5/27/2017 ❤️🕯
God bless the Allman Brothers Band. Get well Gregg, I have never heard a more pure soul-filled voice... the best
John Belushi....the man could do it all...This was during a good period for him...he looks great. Miss that guy....
I es at this show. Thanks for letting me see what I missed!! (Anyone 17 /18. At this time will understand what I mean). Still no venue compares. The era. The $6.50 ticket price. Getting high. Who remembers the smoke filled lobby??
Listen to that organ ...that makes honey seem sour...its our cross to bear.
Fantastic concert....typ[cally awesome of the great Allman Brothers Band
This was a good line up of the reassembled ABB. Dan Toler was a good guitar player that complimented Dickey quite well. Sad he's gone like so many of the others.
the musicianship throughout this entire concert just brings a smile to my face, so seamless and effortless but yet some of the best playing of all time from every instrument. if steely dan was from the south.
Takes my breath away. Simply outstanding, No one did it as well as the ABB.
Dickie's solo on Pegasus, on this show is smoking good..
Great show!!!..thanks for the post....
DDT always gets me as he exudes such coolness... wondering what Dicky was motioning to at 1:20 .... we caught this '79 tour at the RAC Rutgers Athletic Center ... the best times we ever had!
Wow, what a band and what a setlist!
THE HARP PLAYER = JIM ESSERY. Met Jim in Flagler Beach after surfing...there was a bar across from the pier, walked over and he was playing with a drummer who was taught by Artemis Pyle (Skynyrd) and accompanied by a guitar player whose name is Ace Moreland who was friends with Steve Gaines (Skynyrd post Ed King). The deep south and Florida is a magical, magical place. Been out in Koo Koo Fornia for too long...music scene out here can't touch what the south has....unless you are into P Diddy "Greatest Musician" that can't play an instrument (eyes rolling). it's sad. In any event - Jim and Ace were awesome, super nice and gave me some of their CDs for free. I LOVED hearing Jim's stories about playing with the ABB. Super great guy. Ace had a studio and I went out to play some drums at his studio (i play guitar, drums and sing) and got to hear more Steve Gaines stories and Derek Trucks too - Ace knew him / jammed with Derek when he was a kid. Artemis lived out in St. Augustine (12 min up north on A1A)...as did Jim. Ace and Jim both passed away relatively young. Long live Rock N' Roll! Cheers y'all!
Saw them play a lot in the 90's, early 2000's. They were Awesome, always. I would trade them all to have been at this show. This lineup kicked some serious ass! Dickie and DD, Goldflies great bassist. Just Ain't Easy was epic this night. Gregg was Southern Blues personified! R.I.P, there will never be another like him....
Chris Layton: agree, and his playing on the B3 that night was inspired. He was so into it that he missed his cue to sing for quite a few bars toward the end of One Way Out.
Shout out to Dangerous Dan Toler! Rest in Power!
Best Rock band of 70’s, bar none. Not one of my favorite live concerts, but, still great. All their concerts and Albums are and still are amazing 😊😉Statesboro Blues , man, best rock song , ever
Use. To go 2. Boston at 15 yrs old 2 c. Greg
Goosebumps 😊😇🎸🥁🎹🎤🌞🌛🦋💐🌎🎼🩷☮️✝️ and shivers 😇
Ah yes the Enlightened Rogues tour! My first time seeing them was 3 weeks prior to this. First time was Manley field house in Syracuse and 2 nights later in Rochester! Great shows! From the days of Duane and Berry to the final curtain in NYC... THE BEST F-CKING BAND EVER! EVER!!!
.
I thought this Enlightened Roques album came out a year later? I do remember that Album, and as I recall I saw them shortly after this album came out in Ohio. Still.... they were great and their music will always be the best, no matter how old I get! I saw them live at least 4 times... the most ever, too. AND I wish that I could always see them again and again....until they put me in the ground.
No music can ever compare to the sounds, licks and arrangement of this perfectly timed band. One of a kind then....and one of a kind still now.
I will be listening to all these songs until i die. No other hand can come close to this. I have not yet come across any band to play Allman Brothers cover songs. Perhaps Guns n Roses be the only ones who can EVER pull off a worthy cover.
There's an outfit out of Nashville called End of the Line that's doing a pretty solid job as an Allmans tribute band. YT search their vids.
@@drat9191 no one has Duane's spirit or Dickie's balls
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Pastor Murray is an Anointed Servant of GOD who teaches the Word of GOD with Authority!!!!!!!
@@drat9191 Heard them and they do a Damn good job!!!
I was at this show . I was 17. We had a great time . One big party !
I didn't follow the ABB closely back in the day but always liked them and knew who most of the members were etc. I guess it never registered that Dicky was kind of their front man.
TY Fond memories celebrating appreciating remembering🎇🎇❤❤❤❤🚌🚌
For my personal flavor, I think that I will stick with the "Fillmore" double album to veg with. Vinyl albums, Cassette tapes, 8 tracks. DVD's, Live at the Fillmore is 'simply the best' mood altering therapy that I know. The Lord knows that I am a fan and continue to appreciate this wonderful band!
Tom Eidum We share the same feeling about the "Live at the Fillmore" album. People talk about Duane and Dickey and Berry...to me, Greg was the straw that stirred the drink! Best version of Stormy Monday! EVER!
Un
best band in the fuckin world
RIP Duane. Love you my brother ❤️
Thx drifting. Off. 💖
I was at the 1979 Providence show a week or so after this show. I loved this lineup alot.
I was there too. Do you remember the opening band?
I was AT this show!!! Truly amazing!!!
miss these guys, just lucky to see Gregg and Dickey jam together back in the day before Dickey left.
that was a surprise during "Hey Bartender"
Wow, hats off to John Belushi! Great voice and cartwheel! ABB are legends!
Thanks for stopping In you'll be back and your always Welcome Anytime...love forevermore Dear darling
dickey is the man.period perfect tone and great style
Damn...DB tearin’ it up from the get go.
always love a redo.....best concert....sad to see you go...Capitol Theatre...best place for the best concerts for dirt cheap .....thank you again..Happy Healthy New Year
Harp player killing it
I love this video. Being in black and white gives it that “classic” look to it. This was not at a great period for the Allman Brothers as far as creating new music. (That would improve after the 80s), but these guys sure could play live. Thanks for posting this
Saw them four nights later, April 24, 1979 at The Palladium on 14th St. NYC. Great show also featuring Belushi!!
Belushi got around. Between those ABB shows he went to Toronto to introduce the Stones/New Barbarians shows on April 22nd.
Dickey Betts,a true "guitar god".
😂❤❤😅❤ the best band always !! Glad I even met him !! 😅😊❤❤❤
Dickey Betts holding it down!!
I liked this lineup. Saw them at the Greek Theater in LA that tour and Belushi came out for a couple of numbers, too. He seemed to have trouble with that signature Allman shuffle. Fun, though.
Just ain’t easy ! My favorite song It’s so true ! Well , well … ❤❤❤
❤Good Song 🎶
This is some Bad Ass Blues !!!!!
Duane and Dickey were invincible back then.
First tune: A GREAT take on It's Not My Cross To Bear!
Gotta give props to Bonnie Bramlett - and what a surprise to see John Belushi! Thanks for posting. :-)
David ( Rook) Goldflies on the Bass is terrific on this recording. His work on Pegasus is outstanding. Rook never got the credit he deserved for his contribution to this incarnation of The Brothers
So true! In an interview on Tom Snyder Show, Gregg was talking about the band hiring a new bassist. When 'The Rook' began playing, the other bassist, trying out, packed up & left. That tells it all about the talent Goldflies brought to ABB.
@@sblair6362 But then Gregg took a cheap shot at Goldflies in his book ("too many notes"). By Goldflies' own admission, he was more in the "Dickey camp" in the band. Great player though, it's clear!
@@Cpayne30
Yes, I've read GA's so many times. It's actually on my nightstand. GA & ABB are my all time favorites still to this day. GA, after awhile, thought Goldflies played too many chords & was playing more for Dickey than ABB. Yet, Goldflies was good for the band at that time & he was great on Black Betty with Ram Jam.
@@sblair6362 Dickey could be very demanding of his bassists, and Gregg had in mind what he wanted to hear on his songs too. Goldflies did a good job for sure. Shame that the keyboards kind of hide his playing on Reach for the Sky and Brothers of the Road. He's loud and clear on Enlightened Rogues.
@@Cpayne30 Dickey began to drown Gregg out. He started to play so loud that everyone got fed up with his playing. That & his mean disposition finally drove Warren & Allen to quit. After Dickey left ABB (I know his departure can be disputed), once again Gregg's playing could be heard. I love Derek's technique but w/o Dickey, it just wasn't the ABB I fell in love with 40 yrs ago.
R.I.P. Butch Trucks ...respect
all respect in the world to LYNERD SKYNERD thatIloved everything they did but the Allmans Bros. did it for me.
KILLIN IT! DAMN!
Damn - is there any Allman Brothers Band show that isn't the greatest?
This is the ultimate!!!!!
Outstanding
awesome footage
DANGEROUS DAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
R.I.P. Gregg Allman.
Listening to this shoe on my TV. Roku is a device to put on your aub port of your tv .It allows you to watch you tube on TV. Fantastic.
Love how Dicky throws his arms up at 1:20 or so ....Dangerous doing the solo and Dicky can see the camera is on him....has to walk over to Dangerous for the camera dude to get there.....
Pete B ... Ha! That’s a good job by you pointing that out. Good job by Dickie too, letting him know it was Dan jamming at that time. Dangerous Dan should be known as the “unknown” Allman brother who could really play.
Look Ma, no hands!
What’s sad is that he shouldn’t even have to make the effort for the cameraman to know who to focus on. See it over and over in countless other shows with many other bands. How did we all miss our calling to be cameramen or directors? 😄
For a second I was thinking "ARE THEY PLAYING A RECORDING??" Then realized it was Dan T. playing the solo... Good on Dickey to say Hey! Cameraman!! Over here buddy!! lol
Dumbass cameraman should know Dangerous Dan’s capabilities
While it's strange to say a player this famous in THIS famous and important a band could possibly be considered "underrated", I have to say Dickie comes close to being at least not as well appreciated as he should be. He was fucking amazing! Yeah, Dickie! Yeah, boys! And yeah, Bonnie, too!
Dickie Betts was what gave the Allman Brothers their signature sound. Yes very underrated and one of my favorite guitarist, if not my favorite.
Dickey Betts ROCKS...
Pure creative beauty.
