From like 1995 until 2009 every saturday night my old man would have a few beers and tell me the same thing..."THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND IS THE MOST UNDERRATED FUCKING BAND OF ALL TIME!" Usually right after his guitar solo with the broom while sweeping the house. Now im 30...my floors are clean, my broom is in standard tuning...and the allman brothers are the most underrated fucking band of all time
Comment of the Day, your dad was right. I never saw them in 70s but from 89 to 2000ish I saw them dozens of times and there weren't many who could put on a show like them. Now I'm going to crank up Allman Brothers 9/19/71 SUNY Sunnybrook and sweep my house (if you haven't heard that show with Dickey and Duane, especially Blue Sky I recommend it) Cheers.

They're finally getting the credit they so rightly deserve, IMO. And we know it wasn't chose for aesthetics, art & beauty or philosophy type stuff, so its historically or culturally important. Greg's vocals and Hammond. Percussion, bass. Just a masterful, powerful performance. Jam bands tend to ramble- not the ABB. Not one wasted note. Just awesome.
donald thompson Totally agree, bro. Dickey has always been overshadowed by Duane's legacy, even with Duane's career being as short as it was. The reality is that ABB had two of the top 10 best rock guitarists of all time in the same band. True music fans realize Dickey's amazingness and that's all that really matters in the end.
The best concerts I saw in the 90’s were ABB shows and I saw waaay too many concerts in those days. Every show was fantastic. Those guys knew how to jam.
Yeah, I saw them about a month before this show and they pretty much burned the place down. It was only my second concert - I was 15 and didn't really know much about them - I actually went to see Blues Traveler. The Allmans came out and changed everything I thought music was. It was insane. I couldn't even put it into words how it affected me. And as a sidenote - I saw Dickey drink an entire bottle of Jack throughout the show, and when they walked out for the encore - he was drinking a can of beer. Lol. Him and Warren were playing like they were possessed all night. They were just devastating.
I saw ABB at the Shoreline Ampitheatre in Mountain View CA about this time of their career, and it is still in the top 3 shows I have EVER seen. RIP Gregg ♥
I was there with my 5yr. Old daughter right up front,l can remember her saying l can't believe what I'm seeing and hearing.i'll never ever forget this!! Jerry b 64yrs.young.
Many thanks to whoever upload this. I am deeply in your debt. I was living in New Orleans at the time with my now ex. I paid whoever the cable company at the time for the whole Woodstock. I taped it, and my ex lost the tape! I was beyond angry! Blockbuster put out Woodstock 2 on tape. The Allman Brothers were not on it! Can you imagine? Even the announcer said it was easily the BEST band of the entire show. I've been looking for this for over 25 years. Some of the best I've vver seen! Downloading now .I WILL NOT lose this copy...
I had a 2T hard drive almost full. 1,000s of music, movies, all sorts of videos from years and years. It crashed and I lost everything. And so much of it cannot be replaced. I had the original Joe Cocker '94 Woodstock in Hi Def and Dolby sound like this one. Not here anymore. Just bad second generation VHS. And on and on and on. I now have TWO 3T drives and a program that downloads to BOTH drives at the same time. I WILL NOT lose all my stuff again.
Setlist with corrected time stamps (in case you don't want to listen to the full concert): 0:01:48 - Statesboro Blues 0:07:40 - Blue Sky 0:15:04 - The Same Thing 0:23:58 - Soulshine 0:30:45 - Midnight Rider 0:35:00 - Jessica 0:46:58 - No One To Run With 0:53:25 - Back Where It All Begins 1:03:50 - One Way Out (Dickey Intro) 1:04:34 - One Way Out 1:15:19 - Whipping Post
I would love to own a DVD with EVERY SINGLE CONCERT from this show. I was at this show but couldnt be at multiple places at once and it was so damn croweded it took an hour to get 20 feet sometimes LITERALLY. I sometimes shed a tea remembering this concert. it was the last big thing my grandmother did for me before she passed. Bought me tickets to this show. I was such a horrible kid and didnt deserve it.
1970: "First Heard The ABB with their "Revival/ Love is Everywhere" from Idlewild South and instantly became a Fanatic Allman Brothers Band Fan. "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" Made Me Upgrade from Rhythm/ 2nd Lead Guitarist into Lead Guitarist. My 1st Rock Band "Velvet Rock" was formed in 1971. Dickey Betts is My #1 Most Underrated Lead Guitar player of All Time!!!" 😊😍🙋😎😘
SOUL SHINE like it changed our lives even though we are away from each other we are still connected,,,,,, always remember The Day we held hands and hugged each other with compassion,,,,,, I think you sweetie for those months of loving memorys it' means so much to me 💞
Hard to believe The Allman Brothers Band is no more. I was luck y enough to see them during the 70's, 80's, 90's and into their last days as the most influential Southern Rock and jam band of all time.I was also fortunate enough to have met a few members of the band over the years. Dickey Betts along with Duane Allman were two of the biggest influences on me as a guitarist. However, Dickey Betts has always been my favourite during his years with ABB. His masterpiece's Jessica and In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed will pass the test of time for years to come. I noticed towards the end of Whipping Post in this video that he was a little pissed at his 'Cry Baby Wah-wah' pedal as it seemed to have been stuck in the On position,... he was stomping on that thing like it was a Rattle Snake he wanted to kill, lol. RIP, Gregg, Duane, Barry and Butch,... you will forever be missed by the ABB Nation. Dickey, please stick around for a many more years.
The allman brothers family revival is touring this year 2023. I going to the show in st Louis in November. Omg devon allman sounds like his dad and his uncle. Duane betts sounds like his dad. Going to be a amazing show. Check out the tour locations
Proud to be a native Georgian, and super proud of the amazing legacy of our home state heroes: The Allman Brothers! Even Gregg's initials are "GA" - ha! But seriously, growing up in south Ga, this music is intertwined with everything . The Allman Bros. and Lynyrd Skynyrd are such integral entities to our cultural aspects and identity , here. The sad thing is that as I get older I realize that the younger generations have not been as exposed to this heritage as much as I was. Should never let it die . I think a revival (pun intended!) of traditional/"Classic"/"Southern" Rock N Roll is long, long overdue. Rap, hip hop and disposable Pop have been the main genres for the last 20 years ....... it's time to bring back Rock N Roll !!
🎉I first met the Allman Bros. Band while I was doing stage work at the Birmingham - Jefferson Civic Center, Birmingham, AL back in the mid seventies. I was fortunate to run into and sit in with Dickey Betts, Warren Haynes, and Gregg on jam night in early 90 at a little place on Anna Maria Island, Bradenton, FL called "Turtles". Our names were written on the bar. One of the greatest bands and genuine people to ever play, party, and to meet. "Strat" '23
Man, does this bring back memories. After a really stressful period of days and nights during OIF, I finally got a chance to return to my quarters. I played "Soulshine" over and over and over again. Thank you ABB for that song and God Bless y'all. I believe that song kept me from going off the deep end. Thank you for posting and be safe 🙏
My first Brothers show was at the HORDE fest in 94 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in MD. ABB headlined, following Dave Mathews and little known Blues Traveler. Saw them a few more times. Watched this live on MTV, and has always been one of my favorite shows. Brings back so many memories.
The Allman Brothers band is for me absolutely one of the best Rockbands ever. They played the finest south state rock music and wrote a huge music history. You can also watch the concert of Fillmore East with them. I wish you much fun!
@@detectivewilsonfbi8928 I Have been thinking the same thing !! Sirius XM !! Yes saw them in 92 at Great Woods !!! No Bells and Whistles needed for them !! Just Great Southern Rock !!!! Hands Down !11 The Greatest !!!!
There is no such thing as “Southern Rock”! Rock & Roll was BORN in the South! Elvis-Jerry Lee-Chuck Berry-Little Richard are the 4 Kings of Rock & Roll and are all Southern Boys, we need to rid the language of that term once and for all.
Lord bless the Allman brothers. I was seeing them alot in the late 80s-90s. Hard to believe Gregg just passed and Butch not long ago. And man did I Love Allen Woody. Saw him play with Mule on the last night of his life. Phew..he was phenomenal that night and then he was gone the next day. That was rough. Gregg is especially rough losing as he's been a music hero of mine for 30+ years. Always wished him and Dicky would get back together just once more. With Gregg passing it's the end of an era. RIP GREGG ALLMAN Gone but never forgotten!! Thankfully Warren, Derek and Oteil will keep the spirit alive along with Gregg's kids, Dicky and every musician on the jam scene. Long live the Allman brothers. Play it sweet for the good lord
Yes, so much for, the Allman Bros., especially the brother who came to my home, I, just got off my first graves, Duane would play his guitar for me until I fell asleep! He, worked at, Br. & Root, how sweet could things get?HuggyKiss, from me to entire family, cc .
In my opinion there was not another band with as many professional musicians and masters of their instruments anywhere on earth. To synchronize to drums, have two lead guitarist and a bass that set the pace like Oakley did is unreal. Then add in Gregg’s blues, raspy and soulful voice is unbeatable
There's a good bit more to what happened to Dickey! He was screwed over by some of the people that should NEVER have crossed him up so badly! I consider myself very fortunate to have been struck by the Allman Bros. lightnin way back in 1970! I couldn't get enough of them!!! I became a free-lance writer for 3 college papers, and then wrote for "Good Times" rock newspaper in NYC area. I became close with the publicity folks at Capricorn Records, the Allman's record label. I interviewed the "Dixie Dregs Band" on Long Island, and met Twiggs Lyndon, the Allman Bros. road manager, who was now managing the Dixie Dregs. And we enjoyed our interview together, and he was so nice to me, and let me actually PLAY Duane Allmans 1959 Cherry Sunburst Les Paul!!!!! I almost passed out when he said to pull the coffin case out from under the seat of his cube van! I noodled around for almost 20 minutes on that beautiful guitar!!! He told me that Gregg gave it to him for all that he went through when Twiggs went to jail for a bar fight with the manager of a club that refused to pay the band! Accidentally Twiggs killed the man and suffered over that! But Twiggs told me something that I had NO IDEA that Dickie went through. Dickies wife, Sandra Bluesky, who Dickie absolutely loved and adored,, was cheating on Dickey, having sex with Capricorn records owner, Phil Walden!! And it devastated Dickey, which is understandable! Twiggs went on to tell me that in retribution for Walden fluking Bett's wife,, Dickey got somewhat even, by walking into the studio and taking an AXE and a hatchet to the entire studios mixing boards/consoles!!! Can't say as I blame him one tiny bit there!!!!! Anywho,,, that's just ONE thing (there's more!) Betts suffered at the hands of management and other supposedly close friends!!!!!!
That sucks, but it didn't hurt Dickie's guitar playing. Reading up on this Twiggs Lyndon guy, he came back to the ABB in '78 and suggested Phil Walden come back as their manager and Betts was pissed so it didn't work out. If your story is true, imagine the gall of Lyndon to suggest that! His lawyer got him off of the murder charge by pleading insanity, which if these stories are true, I believe he was.
Dickey Betts always had one of the sweetest guitar tones. What a player! Check out his brilliant solo album (as Richard Betts) "Highway Call", let it transport you to a simpler place and time.
I completely agree!!! There'll "never" be another Allman Bros., Dickey Betts, or Warren Haynes' unique slidework... but let's not forget Derek Trucks "and" his wife now!! "Strat"
Friday eve @ Great Woods, Sat. aft. at Woodstock, Sat. eve back at Great Woods. Three shows in 24 hours. I rode the bus with Gregg, Warren, & Woody. Unforgettable weekend!

Jimiplayscobo Derek has his own thing going. He’s good but he ain’t no Warren. That’s just my opinion. I feel he’s a far better straight finger lead player than slide.
What a moment that must have been for father and son. I live in the same town as Dicky and the local feeling is very deep about Dicky's passing. I grew up here too and the local presence of the Allman Bros in the Sarasota/Manatee County area was always a special thing. Our community definitely feels less good today. Great to revisit many of the past videos with Dicky at the peak of his music and physical powers. Live on forever.
They never show enough Jaimoe if at all! There are two drummers in the ABB! He is the jazzy color that gives it that great southern greasy funky feel with Butchie. Sure wish they'd show him once in a while!
nice share, thank you. I was at this show. I could only hear it unfortunately. due to going with very lame friends, I was waiting in the bus line while this and several other great acts played on. i'd like to say it was a great soundtrack to waiting but it only enforced the fact that I was never going to another show with that lame bunch. never did either. long live the Allman's great music.
I saw this version of the band in 1992 at Blossom Music Center in Ohio with Blues Traveler opening up. That was a great show. The original four along with Warren, Allen, and Marc were the only lineup (in my book at least) that did the original band justice.
I just watched again and again '82 Florida concert... pure heaven to my ears.. Dicky Betts and Dan Toler.. just.. that pure guitar sound back then was so much cleaner, without all that driven sound. Sure i liked that, like i was knocking to heavens door. Dicky Betts and Dan Toler.. much better match than they are.. all respect to Warren Haynes. But if you are class of Dicky Betts.. you play with almost clean sound just as God, as he does. Not clean, clean sound, but not driven compressed sound which anybody good player can play. That's why there's these legends as Dicky Betts. Class act one of kind.
If you haven't heard it check out Allmans show from SUNY Sunybrook from 9/19/71. The whole show is great but the Blue Sky with Dickey and Duane is a barn burner. Cheers
I saw the Allman Bros when they were the Allman "Joys" and later on at the National Guard Armory in Eastlake...suburb of Birmingham, Alabama. I think I was 14 or 15. The show was amazing and of course, it was the original Allman Brothers, who I saw several times after my initial exposure. At 70 years old, I still listen to them at a minimum of of once a week. What a gift they were.
Allman brothers family revival tour is starting. Check out the tour dates. Devon allman sounds like his dad and more so like his uncle. Duane betts sounds and plays like his dad
I saw the Allmans in 96 or 97 at Deer Creek in Indiana and they were fuckin AMAZING; 2 sets with about 4 or 5 songs each set and they flat out jammed. I remember they had a huge green glow in the dark shroom in the background with little purple goblins running around.
Drugs or no drugs, dickey betts made Abb what it is. The sound wouldnt be the same without him. The sweet guitar play that he does, and all the arrangement. Its tons of work! He is a special guy. If you listen to the solo albums of him and you know some music, you will understand that he is a great musician.
I agree completely. For a guy who has angst on a personal level, his melodies are so sweet along with his tone. Sorry, but I prefer Dickey over Warren any day. I know it’s harsh to say, no disrespect to him. Oh and the complexities of Elizabeth Reed, that’s is intricacy at its finest.
@J T you are completely correct on all the above. I had the honor to work a few ABB shows when I was backstage manager at the Warfield in San Francisco. Unfortunately, Dickie was not in the band at that point. Butch was probably the nicest man in the biz. All around, they are pure genius, especially Dickie and Gregg had so much soul. I guess pain will helps with that. Cheers mate.
@@TiffanyT-LaDolceVita Tiffany, did you by any chance work at the Warfield when Larry Carlton played his closing show for his 87' tour ending?? Thanks!!! Sonny.
Indeed. Agree 💯%... Dickey Betts never got the credit deserved. He's the Rodney Dangerfield of music. Great guitarist/song writer/performer/Arranger/definitely, the stuff that made ABB. I mean no disrespect to Gregg Allman or, Duane Allman. They were meant to be. Just like brother's they argued, but when it came down to do it and do it right. Nobody's better than Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts... Together, they were the Allman brothers band. Bett's guitar playing alone, is worth seeing and hearing live... Fantastic... Beautiful

💯💯💯🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🎵🎶🎵❤️
ABB is one of the greatest bands ever. They nailed it here!
It's hard to believe how good Dicky Betts is on a guitar. He was never given the credit he deserved.
donald thompson Totally agree, bro. Dickey has always been overshadowed by Duane's legacy, even with Duane's career being as short as it was. The reality is that ABB had two of the top 10 best rock guitarists of all time in the same band. True music fans realize Dickey's amazingness and that's all that really matters in the end.
Dickey Betts was ranked #58 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time list in 2003
A Pirrone I think he deserves to be much higher than that. He is easily in the top 15-20 in my opinion.
Both Dickey and Duane are in the top 10 all time as far as I'm concerned
YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN!!
What a beautiful energy they maintain regardless of drama. They are selfless in their sound. We have been blessed and they surely will be.
Allmans were on fire in the 90s and seeing them was a summer staple of my misspent youth. Good times
I saw the Allman Brothers in the early 70s in New Orleans. I'm 70 years old and still listening to them. ❤
Doesn't sound mis-spent at all --- Spent wisely, on the contrary!
I saw ABB at the Shoreline Ampitheatre in Mountain View CA about this time of their career, and it is still in the top 3 shows I have EVER seen. RIP Gregg ♥

They were on fire here ONE OF THE GREATEST BANDS OF ALLTIME!
Most Important
I was there what a great time I had so many good bands back when concerts were affordable and the musicians played with heart n soul

Dickey Betts is My #1 Most Underrated Lead Guitar player of All Time!!!" 😊😍🙋😎😘
What a Band, loved this line up....A Pleasure to watch and listen to. Miss the Beacon !!!!
bigblue1762 I miss them @ The Beacon too !
Hello Everybody, what a beautiful day for a beauty show. What an Amazing Show and
my Favorite Southern Rock + Roll Band !!
Thank You Boys for Ever !!
Devon allman and duane betts are touring in the allman brothers family revival tour. Omg they sound like their dads. I am going nov 25th in st Louis
SOUL SHINE like it changed our lives even though we are away from each other we are still connected,,,,,, always remember The Day we held hands and hugged each other with compassion,,,,,, I think you sweetie for those months of loving memorys it' means so much to me 💞
Kicking ass and taking no names- Dickey Betts was on a mission! That man could have played for hours! He's just the greatest!
We had the good year brother and sister s im happy to be part of the family of rock and roll

Loving it Dickey and the outstanding brilliant Warren Haynes blows my mind.
Totally agree with you, I Live in Savannah Ga, 47 years now. But from Augusta
Dickey Bett’s n Warren Hayes are spectacular together ,Allman Brothers Rule!! Just like summer jam all over again!
I still have the T-shirt I bought at "Summer Jam."
So sad to hear about Dicky Betts another good one gone. He will be missed!
SAD, all my childhood guitar heros are gone. Stevie, Jerry, Dickey,Albert, and Chuck... Am I next
Dickey playing a PRS , doesn't matter whether s strat or whatever, he is awesome on any axe.
"Strat" '23
Wow, Dickey, Warren, and Allen Woody(RIP) on the stage together! Thanks for sharing!
Not Duane, it's Dickey Betts!
Perodeformero My bad, I'm getting senile in my old age (too many Allman Bros. shows.)
Perodeformero OK, corrected my post. Thanks for catching my mistake.
@@Perodeformero he said Dickey Betts
Yeah Dickie Betts has kept the alman brothers band alive and rockin for all these years and proving that they are truly old school blues masters
This band and Marshall Tucker Band and any other southern band were my favorite ....
Blessed to grow up in the 70s , saw the Bros numerous times over the years . One of Americas greatest bands! Legends , thanks for posting this 👊🏻🇺🇸
Man, does this bring back memories. After a really stressful period of days and nights during OIF, I finally got a chance to return to my quarters. I played "Soulshine" over and over and over again. Thank you ABB for that song and God Bless y'all. I believe that song kept me from going off the deep end. Thank you for posting and be safe 🙏
Balad 03-04'. Jammed these boys too, fuck the sandbox!
Was there dancin and singin! What a great time and grateful to have this memory!!

@@timp3035 amen on that brother
There is no such thing as “Southern Rock”! Rock & Roll was BORN in the South! Elvis-Jerry Lee-Chuck Berry-Little Richard are the 4 Kings of Rock & Roll and are all Southern Boys, we need to rid the language of that term once and for all.
One of the few times you’ll see multiple Soldanos on one stage. And, for a blues concert, at that. Incredibly cool video.
I discovered my parents Win Lose or Draw album in 77. I was 9. The Brothers have, ever since, been my Bible.
They played kick ass shows! Rocked ever venue they played
As Greg said, “what do I need Clapton for, I have Dickie”
I thought that was Duane. After meeting EC and playing on the Layla track.
Yes, so much for, the Allman Bros., especially the brother who came to my home, I, just got off my first graves, Duane would play his guitar for me until I fell asleep! He, worked at, Br. & Root, how sweet could things get?HuggyKiss, from me to entire family, cc .
In the words of Duane. "I'm the famous one. Dickie is the good one. "
Why would he say that, thats if he said it
That voice!!! That sound!! Classic! Man it doesn't get much better than this.
He is a psycho.
Music so fine, like excellent wine and it lasts for all time. Rock and Roll is a friend of mine !!!
Fantastic setlist- always a pleasure to see Dickey
I was there. First thing Sunday morning if I remember. Nice way to wake up. Traffic was after them I think. So many good bands and mud
Glad to see Warren Haynes and Allen Woody playin together one more time
I forget . The almans brothers shows I went to were some of the best concerts I ever went to. I was spoiled . Miss u Greg Duane
Dickey Betts always had one of the sweetest guitar tones. What a player! Check out his brilliant solo album (as Richard Betts) "Highway Call", let it transport you to a simpler place and time.
I love hearing them play Blue Sky in the key of G. And especially it's awesome hearing Warren rip that fuckin slide solo!
Sometimes there are things created on this earth that just can't be replaced, and folks this is one of them.
I completely agree!!! There'll "never" be another Allman Bros., Dickey Betts, or Warren Haynes' unique slidework... but let's not forget Derek Trucks "and" his wife now!! "Strat"
ahhhhhhhh Dickey..... one of the best. Warren is great as always but Dickey is something else
Too bad he couldn't sober up & live up to his full potential, the band would have ended on a much better note!!!
Warren was, is the best period!!!!
Warren is every bit as good as Dickey they are both Awesome But Duane was Great.ruclips.net/video/FUvxRjYqjEQ/видео.html

Warren Haynes is a beast with that slide.
Mark Wessels Totally Agree , Duane would be proud!
Yes he is. And then when they added Derrick trucks a few years later. You had two of the best slide players I have ever seen. Duane would be proud.
Warren Haynes is the closest I’ve heard come to Duane on slide. Jack Pearson’s is a close 2nd.
@@jamlive6650 Gotta say Derek Trucks has to be included in that mix. When he joined the band Warren took a back seat to him on the slide :) Peace
We’ll said
Saw this lineup summer '91. Didn't realize they were all together that long.
Tremendous
Dickie and Warren kicked ass at this show !
This lineup was fire every damn time! Miss it for sure.
They never show enough Jaimoe if at all! There are two drummers in the ABB! He is the jazzy color that gives it that great southern greasy funky feel with Butchie. Sure wish they'd show him once in a while!
That's the quiet brilliance of Jai. You almost never see him doing anything notable but if you take him away the whole thing falls apart immediately.
The first member Duane chose to be in the band.....
nice share, thank you.
Dickey was long overlooked but truth is he was instrumental creating the Allman brothers sound
Dickey Betts and Warren Haynes beautiful twin guitar solos the best I have ever heard what a beautiful sweet southern rock band❤
Dangerous Dan doesn't get the respect he deserves.
What a great time to grow up,. Dickey is somethin else..The ABB were genius . r.I.p Gregg Allman Duane, Barry . and all the others... Thanks 🌈🍄✌🏻☮☮☮☮🎼
It's Berry
I saw the Allmans in 96 or 97 at Deer Creek in Indiana and they were fuckin AMAZING; 2 sets with about 4 or 5 songs each set and they flat out jammed. I remember they had a huge green glow in the dark shroom in the background with little purple goblins running around.
God Bless their souls, every single one of them. Amen.
One of the Greatest Bands of all time Pioneers & legends
Thanks!!! Sonny.
Dickey had a temper,, and it would get in the way most times!
Indeed. Beautiful
