woah, guys!! it's been forever since i last uploaded a video. my utmost apologies. i've been so busy with school and exams and DEATH that videos were honestly the last thing on my mind. i am so sorry. i know i promised (sorta) that i'd upload fall out boy too, but i just can't seem to get around to doing that. for that i also apologize.
also, something that i low-key (read: high-key) wanna brag/boast about: my grandma's best friend (king george voice) forever and ever and ever is actually lin-manuel's cousin!! can you believe it? it's even funny bc she calls my mom her niece. i wish i was joking when i say that i started crying when i found out.

tbh i think its both. its like if someone was trying to heal you but you dont want them to become close to you. its the same thing with love basically. you want someone to love you but you're terrified to fall in love with the person because you're afraid that they'll leave you for someone new.
becks unicorn honestly i see it as a broken love (tyler might not have written it this way but for me it just feels this way). The person who "wont fall in love with falling" fell for another and they didnt feel the same way. Yet the persons feelings keeps finding a way to go back to that other person even they dont want to. So pretty much one person has another person on their mind and they hate it, if that makes sense.

Honestly, I've always thought this song was about like depression/anxiety because the line "I wont fall in love with falling". I (and many others such as possibly yourself) just know what it's like to have those things become such a big part of your life that you cant imagine yourself without them. And even though you hate it and you feel like dying you start to grow attached to those feelings. You start to fall in love (if you will) with feeling like you are drowning or falling.
However recently I have noticed that this song works well with falling in love with someone as well. The panick that comes with finding yourself falling in love with someone is something that could be felt in this song in the same way you can feel the panic of falling/sinking into a severe depressive state.
The line "I will try to avoid those eyes" also makes it sound like it definitely could be about falling in love. The rush that you feel when making eye contact with someone you have strong feelings for and the sinking feeling that comes with the realization that this person now has the power to break your heart can be felt. But that could also be easily translated the other way so it really just depends on what you are vibing with at the moment.

I understand that the song can be interpreted differently for every single person.
So let me assume that we are here to dissect Tyler's meaning. He is so metaphorical, but also philosophical, and uses a lot of abstraction (for instance Taxi Cab).
To me, the lyrics describe a spiritual process we all face relying on God. I definitely believe this is intimately about Giving our sin to God and ultimately giving Him our lives.

One thing I like about this song is that it shows character development. In the middle of the song he sings, "... I'm not sure I want to give you tools that can destroy my heart," meaning that he's afraid to fall in love because he doesn't want to get hurt. But in the end he sings, "... but now I'm here to give you words as tools that can destroy my heart." This shows that he's now willing to open himself up to love and see what happens.

I was obsessed with twenty one pilots when i was 12-14 as in that was like all i listened to for those two years straight and they were all i ever thought about. They were a great help with getting through my first really really rough patch in life where depression and suicidal thoughts were a more than everyday problem. I stopped listening to them completely for the past 3 years but now I'm almost 18 and i think the panic of life and falling back into old dark habits brought me back to this music. It sounds a lot more pretentious than i remember lmao but it seriously is still such good and raw music and the kinda pretentious sound of some of it i can get over cause this early music was written by a depressed teenage boy after all which i am too so it only hits even harder now
