Benita!!! You are an enviable force!!!! I’m so impressed and happy to see someone that isn’t afraid to tackle projects that seem a bit overwhelming! I look forward to watching your progress ❤️
Great progress for just a few days. I'm glad you were able to spend some more time there before winter so you can dream about the renos while it's cold out. Seems so peaceful and cozy.
I have a feeling that we haven’t seen anything yet when it comes to your many talents and energy. I can’t wait for the continued improvements you all will be making. It will be lovelier than anyone can imagine. ❤
Oh, Benita, this was such fun to watch. Your many skills and obvious willingness to learn are on full display here. I did chuckle a couple of times including at seeing your outhouse's bling and a door that works. Your strong work ethic (and determination) certainly came through as you hauled that lumber-laden cart to the compost location...then building it from the ground up! I truly appreciate you sharing this evolution as you three uncover the history and possibilities that old homestead holds. Treasure indeed, made even better by your love and care. I'm really looking forward to the next installment before the snow flies and daylight disappears. Take care.
As we are in the midst of big projects here on our property, I appreciate the frizzy (and still lovely) hair, talk of outhouse inconveniences, and reminders of how much some effort toward organizing reaps rewards during such a large undertaking. You've accomplished so much, one task at a time, and all in collaboration with your family! It is so inspiring ❤
I enjoyed this video SO MUCH! You reminded me a lot of my mother, who never shied away from hard, messy work and who charged into every project with absolute confidence in herself. I admired that so much in her, and I do in you as well. 💕 Edit, I’m laughing out loud as you uncover that piece of metal fence and talk about learning to weld. My mom actually took a class at a local college that offered “shop classes”.
I loved the summer house mini series. I enjoy your minimalist content, but I may have enjoyed this even more!! I am looking forward to your adventures in 2024 and wish you all the best. Thanks for sharing this journey with us.
Hi Benita what a fabulous update ! Enjoyed watching & I am amazed at how much you achieved! Praying for peace in my part of the world so much horror & devastation 🇮🇱💔🙏
I'm super-impressed by your "can do" attitude and methodical approach to restoring this wonderful property. You inspired me to get out my hand saw and replace the the window trim I've been meaning to work on. Thank you for this magnificent update!
You are Superwoman! You got so much done in just three days. I must say I was a little concerned when you were up the ladder Big respect to you 💪 🤗 👍 🙏 🇬🇧
The cow at the end was looking at you like "nice to see someone cares about that old place! Good job! If you ever need someone to mow just unlock my gate and I got you" LOL Do you all have any sort of plans for any animals when you've got the space cleared and safe? I imagine you all with a dog at that property! Possibly a couple of chickens running around as well. Not knowing how far away you are though I realize this may not be possible if it's too far for someone to tend to regularly. I will need to go back and watch the last video again to see if you have shown where you are sleeping and how that is setup for now or if you will do that in the future. I loved this video and seeing all the work you 3 have done already! I would love to see a "day" or "weekend" in the life at the Summer House where you show us how you're cooking, where you're sleeping, and how you are keeping things comfortable and cosy while you are in a state of transition! PS I think the original wallpaper artist was both lazy AND didn't read directions. It appears as though they wanted an easy fix. They should have used paint IMO as you can go a lot further with paint per dollar and you don't have to worry about it peeling etc. I like the piece you fixed in the kitchen but that bedroom stuff needs to go! It is so dark and not at all refreshing!!
Thank you, I’ll plan a DITL video for next spring! As for the wallpapers, they’re most likely all going at some point. We plan to do clay daubing instead.
I enjoyed the outhouse information and was impressed to hear that it is supported and they even gave you a plan for composting. The timing of all the new projects has been perfect.
Thank you for the update! I especially appreciate the insight on what projects you prioritize. Living in a fixer upper and having so many projects myself, I know it can be daunting and exhausting. Your video reminds me that a well maintained and organized home is not the work of a weekend. Your summer home already seems a wonderful treasure to your family.
I totally get that! There are so many projects that I would love to throw myself into but we really need to prioritize this fall. But that also means I’ll get to do lots of fun stuff come spring !🙌🏻
You'll get lots of advice - whether you want it or not! LOL! I bought a 125-year-old bungalow a few years ago. I was widowed, working full time, and decided to gut it over a two-year period. My experience taught me two important things. First, regardless of a bid on ANYTHING, add at least 20% for "unexpected" costs. With property as old as mine there were always surprises. Second, get three bids for any work. Yes, it's time-consuming but well worth it. Good luck!
You should rename your channel Super Swedish Woman!!!! You are just as comfortable in your pristine city home as you are washing an outhouse door. And I love the pants with the pleated knees! I’ve never seen them before
Benita, I realize this video is a few weeks old, but hopefully you'll see this - I am SO impressed with everything your family is doing for this lovely old summer home. I believe that we imbue a "soul" of sorts to loved homes, and I just picture this wonderful cottage smiling as you all show it so much love. And it's so inspiring to see you tackling so many jobs; I could maybe cut the wood that Wille and Victoria marked, but you wouldn't convince me to climb up to tile the roof or down into that root cellar as I don't know my knees could take it these days. I am in awe of all of you! So looking forward to seeing this amazing home come to life through your work!
I never stop being impressed with your knowledge of DIY and general resilience. The fence would also make for a rustic headboard, after a good clean up.
The house is coming along beautifully. You have so many talents. The house is lovely. Old houses have so much character. I lived in a house built in 1780 (old by USA standards) In the mountains. I loved being there. The quiet, seeing millions of stars at night and the smell of the air. It was amazing. I wish you and your family much happiness and many beautiful memories in your summer home.
Benita, I’m so impressed with your talents, energy and skills and how you went up that ladder like it’s nothing! Your home and the cluster of out buildings reminds me so much of where I spent my summers in Northern Ontario, Canada. It was an old abandoned logging village that had been built by Finnish people. The construction was so like these buildings, down to the root cellar, the well, the outhouse,❤
This is a beautiful summer home, and it must feel very gratifying to bring it back to a beautiful state and clean it up and get it all organized. It is so sad when buildings and the yards around them become derelict. It's nice how you and Wille and Victoria work so nicely together. I love that piece of fence that you found... can't wait to see what you do with it!
I was just so happy watching you, but as a farm girl at heart, really just wanted to be there with you helping with all your chores. Especially would have enjoyed the raking task.
What a productive few days. Thank you so much for sharing. So much fun watching the place come back to life. I thought I was the only person that had moody autumn hair. I spend most of the season looking like Hagrid!
OMG! Can we just take a minute to talk about that root cellar?! The suspense was like when they were going to open Al Capone's vault on tv. (ahem....so I heard... ;). WOW! What a beautiful work of art it turned out to be. As someone has been following you since before the divorce, I want to say how awesome it is to see you in your element at this summer house. You can feel the joy emanating off of you! Also, you are beautiful, fuzzy hair and all! Hurray for you, Wille, and Victoria!
Wow you have a lot of skills Benita. Even replacing roof tiles. What a satisfying feeling to see the projects completed. I love your summer house, and so happy you are filming there.
Your house is coming along, and your property is beautiful. When you were working on the roof, I imagined colorful flowers in beds right in front t of the wi down on both sides of the little porch. Thank you for sharing your update.
The Smeg fridge looks as if it came with the house. I hope there's a positive result with your chimney & stove issues. A very lucky sign finding the red currant bush and an apple tree. Wow, the difference a fresh cut lawn makes. Although your Spring is quite a while away, you and the young ones have done great so far. 🛠️🚜🍎🌳
I love the retro fridge. Gives the home warmth. I have a summer home in the Catskills (New York). I have a Philco fridge that is 70 years old and it still works. Love the retro and love your home.
Dear Benita, much admiration! you can turn your hand to any job - i am in awe of you. it is so fantastic that you will tackle any job that comes your way. Best wishes with the new house and i am looking forward to all the projects you are all about to undertake.👏🙂
Its so good to know how handy you are. You did so much! The house is looking so much better already. Cant wait for the next update on your summer house.😊
Dear Benita! This is a wonderful video that I really enjoyed so much! You are so skilled and powerful ! ❤ I am sure the results will be amazing as it already looks wonderful! You, Wille and Victoria seem to be such a great team! I love the Smeg fridge and the wooden table! Have a nice week and don’t forget to rest! And watch out on this high ladder!! Cheers from Iris from southwest Germany!🌸🌞🤩🙋♀️
I absolutely adored this video. It was inspiring to watch you. I'm currently working on my little studio apartment, one DIY after another, pouring a lot of live into it. I could see this in your work, and I look forward to seeing more house restoration videos. Wishing you many years of happiness, love, and enjoyment in this home. ❤
I always find your videos very relaxing and enlightening. It's my go-to comfort whenever I hit a cul-de-sac in my downsizing, decluttering & organizing projects. Thank you, Benita 😊
Hi, your videos so resonate with me, especially this one. I inherited a cabin my dad and his friends built years ago. It is located about 4 hours from me. I enjoy it so much. I feel like I am in a different world when I am there. So relaxing even though there are so many chores! (and bugs). Such great memories and more to be made. Enjoy it. Definitely worth the effort in all ways.
You never cease to amaze me Benita, you are such a hard worker and I can’t wait to see how everything develops in the spring…….it will be a beautiful peaceful place to spend time for sure………..Looking forward to your next vlog……..Donna in Toronto
You clearly got yourself a little Paradise on the land, it is wonderful. It´s so inspiring to see you just tackle the jobs that need to be done and beautify at the same time. Look forward to more videos in the spring!
You have curly hair! It looks so cute! Have you ever watched one of those "I didn't know I had curly hair" videos? They changed my life and thoughts on my hair. Your cabin is a dream! ❤
Awesome, awesome, awesome!! Loved how you were able to accomplish so much in such a short time!!! Can't wait to see how beautiful the property looks when you're done!!!
Ohhh, you are a very hardworking person!!!. I really love your videos because it seems you dare with everything!. Even in a old house you make it clean and pretty. You adapt to everything, urban or rural, you are "all terrain" ( we say in spanish).😄.Waiting again for your next video. Lots of greetings from Spain.
I haven't caught up with all your improvements and you may have done this, but I made rain barrels to catch the roof water for non-drinking use. These are filled directly by the downspouts at the ends of roof gutters. I have a steel roof and the water is really clean for garden use.
Such a wonderful old home… you three will have it whipped into shape in no time. The old stones in the root cellar are so cool. I bet the apples taste lovely. Looking forward to more videos on the old house.
I need to sleep after watching that Benita, exhausted looking at all the work you've done. You are some woman to take on a task, we'll done you. It's coming along nicely. ❤
Benita, as we say in Scotland, you are made of girders!👏I now feel inspired to tackle some jobs at home instead of waiting on my husband (no ladders though!)💖
Looks so great! Lots to do! I loved how removing the dark blue wall paper lighted up the place! Congratulations on your apple tree and I really loved your neighbor she looks so pretty in black and white! Can't wait for more updates 😊❤
I did! The plumber will prepare or an indoor toilet in case we do want one fine the line but we’ll start off with an incineration toilet first. That way we don’t need to worry about pipes freezing in winter. The “bathroom” will be in the space to the right if the entrance to the house.

Benita!!! You are an enviable force!!!! I’m so impressed and happy to see someone that isn’t afraid to tackle projects that seem a bit overwhelming! I look forward to watching your progress ❤️
Thank you! I have so much fun working at the house!
It must be so satisfying to bring life back to that lovely old home... one task at a time! You look totally at home already (love the country hair)!
It is and I feel so much at home there!
This is probably your best video yet. love seeing the progress on your house
I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
I agree! I love your videos, Benita, but this one is exceptional. :) The house is beautiful, and your skills are enviable!
Great progress for just a few days. I'm glad you were able to spend some more time there before winter so you can dream about the renos while it's cold out. Seems so peaceful and cozy.
The village is beautiful and the neighbors are so nice. We really scored!
Wow, it's shaping up very quickly! May you and your family make loads of beautiful memories there. ♥
I feel we will!
Absolutely wonderful! It’s so charming and it must feel good to get back to basics in some ways. I’m so impressed by everything you accomplished!
It feels so good being there even without running water and an outhouse. I just love it!
I had to laugh when you said Learn to weld. I’m sure you already are looking for some training. Your energy is epic. This all so exciting.
I have a feeling that we haven’t seen anything yet when it comes to your many talents and energy. I can’t wait for the continued improvements you all will be making. It will be lovelier than anyone can imagine. ❤
Aww, thanks so much for the vote of confidence!
I want to be YOU!!! The ease with which you maneuver on the land is amazing!! Climbing the ladder, raking, scrubbing, etc. You are my SHE-RO!!
Aww, you’re so sweet!

You have curly hair! It looks so cute! Have you ever watched one of those "I didn't know I had curly hair" videos? They changed my life and thoughts on my hair.
Your cabin is a dream! ❤
I look like Shirley Temple 🤣
Wow! How exciting, Benita! Thank you so much for sharing this journey with us!!!!! You have so many skills!!!
Thanks so much for watching!
What fun to watch this! I'm looking forward to spring!
I’m so happy you liked the update!
Awesome, awesome, awesome!! Loved how you were able to accomplish so much in such a short time!!! Can't wait to see how beautiful the property looks when you're done!!!
Thank you! I doubt we’ll ever be “done” done but we’ll make progress for sure!
You are an inspiration! I love seeing all the things you are doing at the country house. How nice it will be to spend time there with your son!
I’m so excited for when we do get to spend more time there together!
I admire how handy you are Benita!
It's amazing how much work the three of you have gotten done!!
Thank you! It’s been so fun!
Looks like a big undertaking but I see lots of potential. I cant wait to see the evolution. It will be amazing. Congrats ❤
So many great improvements. and love the utility pants
Benita, você é muito trabalhadora! Parabéns por todo seu esforco em melhorar sua casa. Tenho certeza que ficará linda.
Wow what a beautiful home you bought, congratulations!
It’s so much fun to watch this property come back to life. Thank you for sharing! 🏡
Thanks for following along!
Thank you so much!
This house will turn out beautiful!
Yes, I think it will!
You are both hilarious and very courageous. A blingy outhouse…..😂. And the fruit cellar. I fully expected something to come running out of there.
Oh, I kind of did too when the door just swung open like that!😅
Benita, you are amazing! I’m in awe.
Thank you so much!😊
Wow, you have such incredible DIY skills, very impressive 🤩
Thanks, I was a homeowner pretty much without a budget for many years. You learn what you need to know😅
I haven't caught up with all your improvements and you may have done this, but I made rain barrels to catch the roof water for non-drinking use. These are filled directly by the downspouts at the ends of roof gutters. I have a steel roof and the water is really clean for garden use.
It’s on our to do list!
Congratulations. Much, much healtth and work power🙏( Romania )
Thank you so much!
Such a wonderful old home… you three will have it whipped into shape in no time. The old stones in the root cellar are so cool. I bet the apples taste lovely. Looking forward to more videos on the old house.
Can’t wait to share more come spring!
Love the little touches you are making to this beautiful home. And that apple tree! So nice to have.
Thank you, that house is a gem!
I need to sleep after watching that Benita, exhausted looking at all the work you've done. You are some woman to take on a task, we'll done you. It's coming along nicely. ❤
Thank you! I really enjoy it!
Benita, as we say in Scotland, you are made of girders!👏I now feel inspired to tackle some jobs at home instead of waiting on my husband (no ladders though!)💖
Oooh, I like that! And yes, just to it!💪🏻
Looks so great! Lots to do! I loved how removing the dark blue wall paper lighted up the place! Congratulations on your apple tree and I really loved your neighbor she looks so pretty in black and white! Can't wait for more updates 😊❤
I loved this episode!
Yay, that makes me so happy!
Lovely start and how wonderful to have apple trees!
You got so much done! Can’t wait for spring to see your next house video! ❤️🏚️🏡
Will you eventually have an indoor bathroom? 🚽🚰🚿🛁
I did! The plumber will prepare or an indoor toilet in case we do want one fine the line but we’ll start off with an incineration toilet first. That way we don’t need to worry about pipes freezing in winter. The “bathroom” will be in the space to the right if the entrance to the house.
You are so handy. I lol’d at the Beethoven part.
I do love to work with my hands😊
