There's so much satisfying work at the house, polishing the wood stove was one!
I bet I'm not the only American watching who finds every detail of this project exotic and intriguing. A little fan on the stove! Door handles similar to our 1920s bath basin handles, etc. Thanks!

We have renovated old houses for over 50 years… this ‘last’ one is an 1860 two story. I love watching you return to the original with a modern touch …. that is what we have done…But we don’t want to do any more🙂. Another round of minimizing is on as we move furniture into newly restored living room. Thank you for your videos. My mother’s parents were from Finland. 🙂

What a great project. I love that you are salvaging what you can and exposing some of the more interesting parts of the home. My late husband and I restored an 1830's stone home. The outside walls are 18 inches of solid rock. You are all going to have such a great time breathing new life into your summer home. Thanks for sharing!!

Your summer home is amazing. It’s amazing what you find in old homes. I lived in a house built in 1780 in the mountains of Massachusetts. We had some of the plaster walls redone. When the plaster was removed, we found very old glass medicine bottles, corn cobs, newspapers dated to the early 1800’s. I saved some of those items. Old homes are treasures. You have done amazing work already. I look forward to future updates.

@@BenitaLarsson Your bit-by-bit, "done is better than perfect"approach is really helping tackle refinishing my railings. It's s huge job involving bending over wielding and angle grinder for hours, then applying several layers of treatments and paint. I'm 2/3 done and taking a break, and they look great so far!

Hi Marina! I don't want to give you false hope but... well known, polish clairvoyant said that russia will be big loser of the great war which is coming. He was talking about war many years ago. People were rolling their eyes hearing him. Now they don't laugh... It's just his prediction but I hope he is right and russia won't be danger for the neigbors anymore. Hope you are well.

wow that’s very impressive! The amount of knowledge you have to know what to remove and what to save.
The stove before and after is immaculate 😊 I bet it’s very hard to hold yourself and to be patient because I imagine you would want to restore and fix everything right away.
My favorite room color is blue hallway - so peaceful :)

What an interesting vlog. I absolutely understand the need to explore, sort and organize the carport. Creating window casings is a great skill. I remember from woodworking class (in the 70s!) how easy it is to plane things thinner or thicker at the end of your stroke. Oof. It's harder than it looks. PS I love to see that you take safety seriously with the respirator!

Your DIY skills are incredible. Are all Swedish ladies this good at jobs that in many other countries would be considered the men's domain? You are so creative and passionate about this project. I can't wait to see the finished product, I think it's going to look amazing. I love your style in your apartment so I think the interiors of the house are going to look beautiful once you add your personal touch to them. I can see the living room or is it the kitchen, the one with the white lounge and the new dining table already has the Benita imprint on them. Love your videos and your lifestyle. Thank you! Actually Wille and Victoria are in charge of decor. We have similar tastes but what you see upstairs isn’t necessarily staying. The sofa and some other pieces were left by the previous owner😅

Good Morning! I love your summer house! Feeling a bit jealous! I have an old house that I live in full time, and noticed that your kitchen drawers are all wooden like mine. If they don't glide well, use some white candle wax from an inexpensive tea-candle or other small one, and rub it on the runners of the drawers and the inside glides/runners too. It works great! May need to be done once or twice per year, but so simple and inexpensive. It protects the wood from wearing down too. You are doing a great job!

I am at awe of what you are able to do! Congratulations on all this hard work!!! I haven't even finished the entire video yet but to me this has been one of the best videos here. One miracle after the other! The stove was the first one! It reminded me of my grandparents' stove back home, though not the same, but just the sentiment. I love when people take the time and effort to restore something instead of just replacing it. This poor house must be so happy to be finally being taken care of after a long time!
