Thank you so much for sharing your adventures in the countryside to look for a summer house, Benita! The Swedish countryside looks so beautiful and reminds me of home. ❤
Gosh-I can’t even imagine a consecutive week off, much less four weeks! What a wonderful way to get your equilibrium back. Hope you all find someplace special!
Oh, I just fully enjoyed this video. Stockholm (and Sweden in general) is the place of my dreams and I love all the beautiful places you show us. Please share more of the city sometimes. ❤
As a Finn I understand the summer house concept that doesn’t seem to be very popular in other parts of the world, which is unfortunate. When I have to explain it to others, I say it’s just like camping in the middle of nowhere, but the tent is wooden and usually shared between the family members, which is why many can afford it. It’s not the type of property people usually imagine when they hear the word house. It’s very nice to follow your journey of looking for a summer house, it reminds me of my childhood a lot ❤
I can’t wait to see your summer house journey! Colorful and quirky, and Benita style and eye for details. This is such a treat to see the country side of Stockholm, thank you so much for sharing and producing this beautiful video.
What a beautiful countryside. When you went to the flea market and scanned across some items imagine my surprise to see a Kentucky license plate all the way in Sweden. Good luck in finding the perfect summer cottage for you and your family. Wishing you all the best from Kentucky 🐎🥃
What a wonderful escape to watch this! I just shared it with my 81 dad. He was the first generation born in the US after his parents left Sweden. We have maintained many Swedish traditions in our family all these years. I know he will enjoy seeing the beautiful footage of the Swedish countryside. Thanks, Benita❤
I love the prospect of watching you collaborate with Wille and Victoria on this summer house project. I think some of the most exciting design moments result from disparate voices.
I feel calm and at peace watching your beautiful and thoughtful videos. Any summer house in the beautiful Swedish countryside should be amazing! You're looking great!
Goodness, Sweden is the gift that keeps on giving 🇸🇪 🌼 Ahhh Benita, you have captured your love for the countryside so beautifully here. The Summer house idea is so wonderful, both practical and companionable. If you do go ahead, I hope you will consider sharing some of the ( perhaps) more traditional 🇸🇪 decor. And yes, we are now into our second month of soggy summer ☔ here in 🏴 😞 , always unpredictable! 🌻
Stockholm looks like such as easy place to live. The hollyhocks are doing really well. Mine tended to develop rust as the summer wore on. The Stockholm Public Library is so well designed. Great video Benita!
The countryside you showed us looks so serene. My heritage is Swedish and visiting is one of my bucket list items. Fingers crossed, I can make it happen. Your video has renewed my determination! Thank you ❤
I think you’ll need to plant some dahlias in the garden, once you have the summer house. Cafe au lait dahlia is beautiful. A herb garden too. My country cottage in Greytown, NZ, offers respite from the working week in the capital, but as our winters are more temperate we can use the cottage year round. It’s about being outside and land. For years I had no washing machine, no oven, no dishwasher, no Wifi. It was absolutely fine. The simple life. 😊
What a lovely approach to finding a shared summer stuga with Wille and Victoria! It will be so interesting to follow your search and see what you ultimately select. I loved seeing snippets from Skansen, the gorgeous design of Stockholm Public Library, and your café breaks. Btw, Seattle has the National Nordic Museum, a wonderful place in which to explore art, design, history, heritage and other cultural aspects of the Nordic diaspora in the US and specifically in the Pacific Northwest. I spent hours there in May, capped by fika in the café! ☕☕ p.s. Those wooden forks! ✅
Re wood burning stove, I am aware that in Sweden the choice is enormous however I would like to mention Rayburn wood burning stoves : they can be used for cooking, hot water and radiators. I am not sure how this translates on very hot days, but for mid to bad (not freezing) weather, they are pretty reliable, rustic and hard working.
Our family cottage in Wasaga Beach, Ontario Canada had indoor plumbing and a well until the township made everyone go on town water. We didnt have a shower or bathtub. It was 3 bedrooms at one point but then mom changed that to a storage room. There are 5 kids in my family and my siblings had spouses and kids. They were lined up on the floor everywhere lol. It was opened in May and closed Thanksgiving weekend. My absolute best memories are from time spent there. We sold it when my mom died. It had been in the family for about 75 yrs. It was basic but wonderful. Cottages around us used to be the same but then alot of people from Toronto moved into the area and built summer homes fully kitted out. No roughing it there. We sold jt because we decided things had changed too much for us. Enjoy your summer house and make wonderful memories❤
Watching this from over here in Southern Australia where it’s Winter and freezing at the moment is absolutely wonderful! Seeing the warm bright sunshine and gorgeous flowers reminds me Spring is just around the corner for us and I can’t wait to get into some outdoor projects again! Good luck finding the perfect Summer House! Enjoy the hunt! ❤❤
Lovely DITL video, thank you. We are introducing our friend to Stockholm over the next week and will be visiting Skansen on Monday, one of our favourite places.
I love seeing the Swedish countryside. We usually visit every summer from Australia as my son lives there with his family. We love it! Aahh and Fika is so delicious.
I love the similarities and differences between older houses in different countries, especially wood-built. In Switzerland our climate is not so dissimilar to Scandinavia and therefore some things are very alike - but where we have a lot of geraniums (pelargoniums) I totally associate all the hollyhocks with my visits to Scandinavia
Wonderful & beautiful video 🌼🌻Good luck finding your perfect summer home 🏡 Sweden looks so calming- are there places that are undesirable or dangerous? Really enjoyed this content & you look amazing- loved the Lilysilk items you chose ❤
I hope that you find your perfect summer home in the country 😁. I missed seeing Bonus in your video, he is so adorable 🥰. My husband and I are thinking about buying a piece of land next to a river as a weekend/ vacation home. It's 70 minutes from our apartment in Porto. If it goes well we will be building a small cabin, the land currently has a stone ruin, next week we have a meeting with the city planning department to find out what we can and can't build, hopefully it's good news 😊. Thank you for showing us around.
The red-coloured houses are so lovely for the summer. I had a Jotul stove 5 at my farm. I cooked on it while warming the whole farm, and it was economical for wood use. You can even remove the big glass door for an open fire. My kids loved that. And I found the cats underneath it as it was still warm in the mornings, ready for a new load of wood. The hinges of the windows, oh my, so gorgeous 🥰 You can make a deal with your neighbour of the new holiday home to mow your meadow each fall. It may seem low-maintenance, but it is not. 😉The forks are so sober, and lovely. 💘
Congratulations to you all...!! Whichever home you choose, the gift is that you all get the time together to make incredible memories. Personally, I think there is no Scandi design, including the traditional red painted homes, that isn't minimal. The balance of design, the colors, the use of native cultural decoration. Even the red paint; in y'alls neck of the world, even in high summer, a red painted home is minimal. Any other color would be invisible and even drab. It's not like it's a red stipe... it's solid, minimal, appropriate. It may not make sense but I think Scandi design is like a minimalism manifested. How exciting for this new adventure!
What a fun hunt! I found the vacation time and the summer house concept fascinating. Too bad we don’t have that kind of vacation time here in the United States. 😉 I love the art you have above your sofa. The colors and subject are so serene.
I wish we had that kind of vacation time in the US too! In Minnesota we do have the summer house concept, which we call cabins, but most families just go up north to them on weekends.

Also, what is the level of external noise from common areas and the street? I'm trying to get a sense of the level of peace and audible privacy.

Så fint område ni letade hus i.
I was ln Stockholm last month and the public library was on my list of places to visit. There were plenty of tourists with me. It is truly beautiful. And 5-6 weeks off a year? Damn. We only get 3 weeks max. No wonder you guys are one of the happiest nations.
Its the law but I’m Swedish and have worked with service (receptionist, switchboardoperator) 17 years and never had more than 2 weeks off in a row, but four paid weeks in a year and sometimes take some extra days with unpaid leave, that’s luxury for sure. but without someone to cover for you, you don’t get to stay home when sick or having a longer leave.
I also have been meaning to ask, where it is that you got your rabbit light that sits on the window seal? Both myself and my 17 year old granddaughter want one. Please share. Thank you.
I so enjoyed this video, thank you, Have you thought of showing us the Vasa Ship Museum? I visited the ship in 2017 (from Australia), I found it to be fascinating, non locals might also enjoy having a look.

Så fint område ni letade hus i.

🇹🇳
I was ln Stockholm last month and the public library was on my list of places to visit. There were plenty of tourists with me. It is truly beautiful. And 5-6 weeks off a year? Damn. We only get 3 weeks max. No wonder you guys are one of the happiest nations.
We are pretty lucky in that regard!
Can't wait for summer house renovation videos!
I also have been meaning to ask, where it is that you got your rabbit light that sits on the window seal? Both myself and my 17 year old granddaughter want one. Please share. Thank you.
I got mine in a local store but Google ”Miffy light” and I’m sure a source will pop up!

It’s absolutely stunning!
I so enjoyed this video, thank you, Have you thought of showing us the Vasa Ship Museum? I visited the ship in 2017 (from Australia), I found it to be fascinating, non locals might also enjoy having a look.
I made a Reel of a visit there! instagram.com/reel/CiozpDjoxZD/
