100 Year Old School Reno in Sweden l FIRST YEAR

- In this video I am showing everything I did the first year after moving in with lots of footage I haven't shown before in my vlogs.
I had a steep learning curve when it came to both the renovation and videography and in my next video, showing year two, I hope you will notice the quality getting better.
You will notice my renovation philosophy more in the following video when I keep working on the guest room apartment;
- Re-use of materials
- Eco-friendly and natural materials
- Used furniture and decor
- Using craftmanship and building preservation techniques
- Build and renovate for generations to come. not to finish as quickly as possible
- Preserving and bringing back the history of the house
I’m a woman early 60’s now. My husband and I always did house building projects together and I often worked without him especially If we were demolishing. You, fantastic woman are a higher level! Power to you! Always exhausted at the end of the day but the morning with mug in hand you quietly look over the previous days work. Then get going again. What an inspiration you are.
That's right 😁 except looking back, I always look in front of me. Except when I make content, then I am confronted with everything I've done and finally getting the benefits of reflecting and trying to think of what I have learned and feeling proud! Who knew there could be an upside of social media? 😉 thank you for your nice comment
@@old_school_moaboaPlease be very proud of yourself.
I love this girl too. I'm also early 60's(chronologically) but just love watching this. Makes me want to start again.
The brickwork is so beautiful! And the synchronized kittens were to too cute!
The roof clinging was awesome. Nerves of steel. Looks way better without the ivy.
Haha thanks 😁
wow, when you climbed along the roof and cut that first vine down, I was so goosebump impressed. 👋👍
Outstanding work Moa! You accomplished so many important projects in your 1st year. Securing roof and installing gutters, freeing walls from ivy interference, clearing trees from immediate area of house which is always best for the foundation, restoring drive way and parking area, etc. .... not to mention chickencoop, and interior makeovers and structural changes. You tackle every project like a pro. Thank you for sharing your restoration adventure with us. You are an inspiration.
Thank you, I feel like I have made both some good choices and some less good, but I don't regret anything I've done so far so that's good 🤷♀️
Learned about you from watching Anna Lindgren’s channel. People have already said how much they admire you and you’ve done outstanding work this year in renovating your very cool and huge former schoolhouse. I too have such admiration for you and all you younger women accomplishing such great things with a total “I can do it” mentality. Just watching you on top of your tile roof gave me anxiety. You did what many of us older women were told we couldn’t do and didn’t. Love that your generation of women have been encouraged to follow your dreams. Looking forward to watching more of your “dreams come true” videos.
@@user-uc2mk6ud2w this message warms and at the same time breaks my heart 💔❤️🩹 I'm sorry you didn't have the same opportunities as my generation but thank you for your kind words 🫶🫶
@@old_school_moaboa Breaks my heart for all of us too. However, what we did get to do is learn that wasn’t true and tell you that nothing could stand in the way of your dreams unless you let it. Even though I know I can’t climb up onto a tile roof to throw energy at a 3 story climbing vine, I can marvel at your strength and energy and cheer you on😊♥️
@@user-uc2mk6ud2w 💛💛💛
Great respect for your resilience and skill with such a huge renovation.
No man has ever installed my toilet with such perfection! You go girl! Inspiration.
You are definitely a woman of many talents..and the level of craftsmanship and versatility you have is beyond belief, not to mention your lack of fear..enjoyed all of your work and their completions!
Girl, you've got grit, determination and tenacity in spades. Great job so far and I can't wait to see the 2 year video .
Nothing but huge admiration for your vision and absolute attention to every little detail on restoring your massive restoration. Love these videos. ❤
Thank you for your support 🥰🥰🫶🫶
You go girl. You are a totally capable woman and are not afraid to do anything! That ivy removal was so smart and a daunting task for sure. What a beautiful place you have!!!! Love it! Just found your channel today!!
Thank you and I hope you stick around, there is a lot more to come 🙂
Вы просто чудо! Счасья вам!!❤
I adore adore this place I love it congratulations on this beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful house
I was so nervous watching you up on that roof so high. Beautiful job!
Thank you 😁
That's an incredible amount of work in a year! Bravo!
Thank you, it seems way more when it's summarized like this and not when you see the small progress you make everyday after work :-/
What a great job you are doing! And what a very attractive looking building! Greetings from Australia!🇦🇺✨
Very satisfying, watching the ivy peel off the wall. Scary though. Well done!
You ladies are awsome. Also you have some incredible tools to work with. Congratulations.
I love watching strong, empowered and fearless women! ❤😊❤
I’m just amazed at your knowledge , skill and ENERGY when it comes to all the projects you have taken on in the old house. Bravo! You should be very proud of yourself!
Who did you learn all this construction from? Great job!
Lovely to see this beautiful old building saved & becoming a home. Well done!
Thank you :-)
You do such an amazing job ! It´s so cool to give the old schcol house a new life, a new purpose. Magic ☺️🎈🌸🤗
Thank you :-)
I just found your channel and I immediately subscribed after watching you restore the door instead of painting it white. You have great and skill and knowledge and a strong work ethic. I will be watching.
You are truly amazing! A machine! You got this, keep up the incredible work! Thanks for bringing us along! 💗💗💗😺😸🐾🐾🐣
Thank you :-) Thank you for following along!
I wanted to reach thru my TV screen and help you pull off those stubborn vines! Love your will power and stamina attacking such a project. You are a woman with such a can do attitude, I so admire you. I have renovated homes too, and even framed homes on cape cod off Mass, so I appreciate what it takes. I just retired and got divorced recently and am heading out to do some traveling. Can I stop by and donate my help for a month or so?! Handyman is my middle name!
Anyways, thanks for the great videos! Thoroughly enjoyed them.
Grymt bra jobbat 💪 🤩
Tack 😄
I'm so impressed and inspired by all of your skills! Your house is wonderful, and you are doing such good work on it. I'm eager to follow your projects and to see more of your kittens!
What you've achieved is truancy amazing. It's really going to be stunning when finished .
Amazing work. So inspiring. ❤. The house is looking gorgeous. I can see that it’s a real labour of love.
Inte ofta jag blir mållös men klickade av en händelse in på detta klipp och wow. Du är precis sådär cool, händig och totalt orädd som jag alltid velat vara! Outstanding för att uttrycka mig milt.
Men vilken tur du trillade över min kanal!
What a truly lovely building… Good job with the Ivy would not have gone on the roof.
Wow!! I just discovered you. Amazing job with this old school house! Enjoy it for years to come!
Woman, you can do anything ! My sisters made bookshelves for my mom and we have all sanded, painted, and put up wallpaper. My sister has hung new storm doors and sheetrock but what you are doing is on another level ! ❤
Beautiful!
You are a brave and capable woman !!!
Well done...
It’s a very nice house I like it. It’s a lot of work but after all that you can be really proud of yourself 👍👍👏👏🇳🇱
Thank you :-)
You are truly a woman of many trades. Totally impressed with what you have done, and the guts you have to get on with it. Many thumbs up and cheers from north-western Norway.
OMG, the ivy removal was SO satisfying from here! I can only imagine how great it was for you. (Of course I didn't have to go on the roof!)
That is some of the best work I've ever seen!! And I've seen a lot! Beautiful design and decorating too. And those doors! Truly well done.
Thank you! Then I hope you will love year no two, hopefully I can publish it tomorrow 🤞
Great work. 🎉 In my dreams I would love to do something like this. When I am awake fear stops me. Please continue this amazing work
A great work ethic much in evidence!
I love this so much! I watch a lot of renovation content, and your channel just truly amazed me.
Having done basic home renovation work myself over the years, I was truly amazed at your skill and knowledge.
I was quite mesmerized. Well-done all around. 😊
Wow thank you 🥰 and impressed myself, well done 😄
I've seen lots of renovation video before but this type of filming is the most engaging I think. Congrats on your finished projects and I'm looking forward to your next upload.
Thank you, that's saying a lot and made me very happy you think so 😊
Fantastic Moa! It was a treat to see new footage and view the first year like a story.
It becomes something else doesn't it? Also it was time do something about all the unused photage 🤷♀️
Wow! This is one of the most comprehensively illustrated reno projects I've seen so far--a fantastic how-to for just about every aspect of property repair and restoration.
Thank you, I just film everything I do and try to learn how to make it fun 😆
Beautiful work, vision and dedication! ❤
You’re freakin amazing !! 🤗💪👩🏻🔧
All i see is hardwork and determination 💪 💯.
Hard work takes you places 😉
Girlfriend, you look like me after my divorce: nothing in my flat worked! The sink was cracked, there were no flooring, no light fixtures--nothing!!! Talk about the nights I cried myself to sleep on a mattress in the master bedroom with no furniture!!!! True story! I got myself together and became handy like you. I can hang wallpaper and light fixtures, put a sink in along side the washing machine and dishwasher! I bought the click laminate and a circular saw to install my floors. Furniture came from the second hand store! Can't afford the Laura Ashley curtains? Calculate the cloth needed, order the fabric online and made my own. I've had to move flats, BUT my first flat taught me how to be a survivor. Well done! I have much respect for your!
Your property is absolutely beautiful! Im so impressed with your skill set and your can do attitude! The fact that you're doing all of this renovation yourself is amazing! I admire your talent, your vision, and your work ethic. God bless you!
Major job..can’t wait to see more..
Dont you worry, there's about more 8 years coming (thats my timeline) 😆
Absolutely fantastic job! Tack för att du tar med oss på den här fantastiska resan :D
Tack 😁
Very determined and skilled people !
thank you for sharing - you are doing an amazing effort to keep this school house alive. I am so impressed🤩The cats are so cute🧡
Thank YOU for watching and the nice comment 🙂
You are a JACKJYN of all trades. I feel happy watching you repairing your house..
I'm happy you feel happy when watching this 🤗
Felicitations pour tous vos travaux
Thank you 🙏🙏
You are doing a great job!!!
Thank you for your support 🫶
A gutsy and extremely competent Jackie of all trades.
Watching you on the roof beam gave me the heebie=jeebies. I've always shied away from heights. That looks steeper than a 12/12 pitch. And you maneuvering the lift crane? Well done, indeed!
I've been working with tools since I hung outside with my dad as a young girl in the 50's and still going strong. Not many of us octogenarian 'Jackies' out there from what I'm observing. Eighty-three and counting.
You did a great job with those doors
Thank you 💁♀️
We just found your channel but we actually saw your house a couple years ago when we were looking for our home! We’re in Skåne too, but working on a 300 year old Skånelänga starting next year! We’ve been loving your videos, and have gotten a lot of inspiration for designing the interior. Thank you so much for filming your process!
You are one gutsy lady. It was amazing seeing the ivy fall in great pieces. Not so good seeing you on the apex of the roof, omg you gave me pulputations just watching lol.😮. I love the pattern on the walls. Wishing you well and all good luck in your journey 🇬🇧
Moa, you’re such a courageous gal! I love your tenacity and spirit!
Thank you 🫶🫶🫶
You have really done a wonderful job! You’re so brave!
Thank you 😀 brave=foolish? 🤷♀️🤔😉
I love Love LOVE, your chicken inspectors❤!!! They follow wherever you work and do not hide the fact that they are evaluating the work as you do it & the competition as well😂!!! I read in the description that this is new to you but I think that you must be kidding! The brick work, the roof tiles, The Doors! All look done by master mason, master roofer & The Doors, Oh My, they are beautiful! The way you stripped them without chemicals and the hardware too! Wow! Did the chickens see those doors? Almost forgot to mention how you took down the ivy😊! (I did subscribe right away! I think that you are amazing & your home is going to be the envy of all who see it😮!!! (Love the kitters too, the cute way they came out of the carrier to inspect the new space, I had to watch it over several times, so cute😂! ❤
Haha right? They were so synchronized! It was worse with the chickens when I worked on the windows. They would fly into the window frame or on the window sash when I was working on it and scare the sh*t out of me 😆
An old school the best you could have studios anything!!! Retired teacher love love love old schools 😎
What's so fun with this school is that even if it's so old it was used up until the 70s as a school. So there are a lot of people in the village that used to go to the school as children. I would love to collect their memories somehow
So much wow factor I don't even know where to begin! You've done fantastic.
Everything is amazing that you have done. I am grateful you showed how the machine to take out the stumps worked. That was fascinating.
I thought so too 😀 i was immensly mesmerized 🤣
Wow, I am so impressed by your capabilities and energy. Well done - look forward to follow your project 👏 Many greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰🇸🇪
Mange tak :-) fra Skåne
Just found your channel. And I am hooked. Would be proud to call you my daughter. 🥰
Oh my gosh. Up on the roof again! Good job with the ivy. I’m glad you had help. Huge job.
First things first - like building a chicken coop and welcoming new kitties!!!
That ivy and rooftop acrobatics had me gasping - well done, Moa. Looking forward to year 2.
Haha that's right ;-) It had me shaking :-/ I don't know if you notice how my hands are shaking when I climb on the roof...?
@@old_school_moaboa Nope you look cool and composed. The big leather gloves hid that. Well done!
@@sc0ttishlass well I guess it's my memory of it that makes it so obviously to me 😉
You’ve worked so hard and done a amazing job, congratulations ❤️🇬🇧
Thank you 😁
Боже, как высоко и как за Вас страшно! Берегите себя!
😀 yes I try 😉
What a beautiful space and home you are making. You have very cute kittens always helpful in making a home more cozy furry family.
Haha they are the best 🐈⬛🐈
Such an inspiration, you should be very proud!
Thank you, I try to 😉
Agreed
You are wonder woman! I just found your channel and I am impressed!! That building is stunning.
RUclips just served your channel up to me and I am so glad they did! Looking forward to seeing some of your previous videos and of course the work that you have done! Amazing by the way! These were not small projects and you completed them largely on your own! Just Great!
Thank you and I am glad you enjoyed it :-)
This was enjoyable to watch. One small step at a time. You got the job done. Love the ivy falling away so rewarding for you ❤️. Keep moving forward.
Lovely old house in good condition with useful outbuildings . I am impressed with your practical skills and for personally doing so much of the work. Sensible changes and use of machines where practical. Greetings from NZ.
Thank you Chris! I can be quite sensible, sometimes ;-)
My husband and I are still finishing up our own self-build house so I can relate to all the hard work you have put into your home. And doing it all on your own is nothing short of amazing! You are an inspiration - especially for getting up on that roof!! I look forward to following along for more.
Ah yes, it takes one to know one right? 😉 thank you for watching 😄
This was amazing! You go girl!
Thank you 😁
Looks fantastic. Your hard work is paying off. ❤❤
Thank you 😁
I live in the USA and we have a different type of roofing. Your roof looks so much more different to me. Its very pretty though.
I can only admire what you take on. I’m sure the building will be such a beautiful home once it’s finished. One thing I must say, though, I found it a bit scary when you were working on the roof! A fall from up there can cost you everything in a split second. 🙋🏻♀️😣
Thank you! For my next work on the house (replacing broken roof tiles) I used a cherry picker to be able to work safer
Wow! This amazing. I love the transformation.❤️👍🏿
Thank you 😁
Great work!! You are such an inspiration! Nothing prissy about you and your determination!!!
Wow! Stumbled across your video which I thoroughly enjoyed, I am truly impressed with the work you were able to do, I didn’t know what a dead hedge was until I saw this video, and it’s amazing how colour can change a room from looking small and dark to looking big, spacious and bright, well done and thank you for sharing your work, much appreciated from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Thank you! One day I will continue the work under the tree where the dead hedge is. The plan is an outdoor seating area for a place to eat in the shade but also a round deck surrounding the tree trunk :-) That's why I built the hedge, to give the area under the tree a more defined space. And to use all of the cut off rambles ;-)
@@old_school_moaboa I have to tell you that I am very impressed with the work you have done so far, I hope you are proud of yourself for what you have been able to accomplished.
I found the second part of your refurbishment and I’m excited to watch it once I get some free time, so thank you in advance ❤️
Waow you found out how to squeese in the replacement tiles. Well done! 🙂

Great video Moa, shows great progress and skill and fortitude from yourself, thank you for sharing your journey.
Very impressive work!
I think you are missing a steel plate above the gutter and just under your last row of tiles...
Micael - Vocational teacher - Sheet Metalworking
Well there wasn't one when I removed the old. So I didn't know it was a standard now. I was very dissapointed after seeing it dripping from the roof past the gutters 😨 so I did some research and realized it was a thing. The old gutters were fastened different and way closer to the edge of the roof 🤷♀️
@@old_school_moaboa That's the problem, the gut is supposed go in under the tile and you don't need the "fot plåt" its only a waste of money in your case. Rolle, Roof expert, Woodworking.
@@Coole-ee1vg i think I need it because I can't get it closer to the roof tiles so that they are drippung where they should. I might if I don't bend them and skip the angle of the gutter but that's not an option I think
@@old_school_moaboa OK I get it👍👍
