      I can hardly wait .
In Canada I have to hike one half mile to get to my cabin situated on a river in the wilderness .
No power, plumbing, water and cell phones don't work there.
      That is roughing it!

Benita...I just wanted to say what an inspiration and motivator you are. Every time I finish one of your videos, I think, "Stop your (me) procrastinating and just DO it. Benita wouldn't put it off.. and if she did...she would be working on something else that needs to be done!" You obviously know how to channel your inner, much nicer Martha. When I see what you have accomplished over the years (I've been around since the early Chez Larsson days), I realize I have no excuses...and I thank you for that. When it comes to our homes, no matter what our styles are, we can always ask ourselves, "What would Benita do?" The answer always is..."She would get it done!!!"

😊 so true. I'm in the middle of a small update to my daughter's bedroom and my husband's home office. It's taken ages as I am also doing everything else I would normally do. This morning I filling in small cracks in the walls and suddenly felt like I was going to vomit. I decided to lie down for a bit and luckily I saw that Benita had posted a new video 😊😊😊😊. I still feel a bit light headed but I should just get it done 👍😊.

My mom married my American dad who loved all things carpentry and restoration. Then I married a carpenter/ restorer as well and have been apprentice to all the restoration of our old house and the wood strip canoes that he created. We live in a 1910 house that requires continual upkeep (as well as long term projects) but your house reminds me to not just look at the things that need to be completed, but to look at the loveliness that already exists and to not give into discouragement when I look at the "Big List of Projects."

Love your summer house and all you have done! I do love the wallpapers of the previous owners but i understand wanting to make it more your own style. I love the red paint and had to look up why all the buildings were painted red. What a lovely way to keep the history alive! Can’t wait to see what’s next😊

Even if you didn't finish your to-do list, it looks so good already. It became typical your and your kids' house. Important things such as foundation, electricity, heating, and windows are done. Even though my main house isn't finished after ten years, the funds and the time isn't always there. Plus, it is a holiday home, not a task. Enjoy it, though I know you like to pick things up, Benita.

Great job so far on your summer house. Must be so gratifying. You look like a different person in your summer clothes; very fresh and full of vitality. How nice of you to share all the updates, it’s so interesting to see your discoveries and how priorities and plans change over time.
Do you consider the new wood on the lower part of the exterior a temporary or permanent fix? It’s a very cost effective way to take care of the exterior, regardless 😊 I’m quite fond of «this will do us and the house well for many years, until it’s time to tackle the bigger thing». It’s so calming and wholesome.
I’m gathering inspiration and ideas from you for our renovating projects. We have a 1930s cabin in the woods, and a small 17-1800s small timber farmhouse as our main home. The cabin is in most urgent need of renovation, but as we live in the farmhouse with 1990s interior «upgrades» and room changes… let’s just say my fingers itch to start the «putting things right» process.
Looking forward to following along next season!

Ooh I feel you on windows, having lived in an old Swiss house and having a cottage on the Breton coast… windows are an ongoing topic! Do you have separate winter windows? I have seen other Swedidh houses with them on the inside, since your windows open outwards. Ours open inwards, so our winter windows were installed/hooked on the outside of the casement. The inbetween space is often used for plants like geraniums.
