@Bob Rich Actually, it's implied that Batman was bluffing since he'd never go through with genocide. He discovered the password and told Darkseid in order to cement his bluff. Darkseid bought it because he sees humans as being just as willing to do anything for victory as himself.
@Bob Rich Sure. Maybe he did actually arm them and could detonate them if he wanted. Still, the thing about calling his bluff would be a matter of risk/reward. If there's a possibility of losing his entire planet, calling Batman just to not give back a single (albeit formidable) soldier risks forcing him to actually do it since, now it'd be Batman's choice between losing Kara AND leaving Darkseid's menace unanswered or just seriously hampering it. The bluff works because detonating the planet is already an attractive option to begin with. So much that calling it causes Batman to then have nothing to lose in fulfilling his end.
I really don’t like this version of Batman. I know that he has done much worse things in the comics, but those incarnations of him have had a good justification. I would have loved to see a flashback of something happening to him to make him like this, but all we get is a few throwaway lines about how “Gotham hasn’t gotten better.”. We literally don’t see anything in these movies that gives us any reason as to why he acts like this. And maybe it wouldn’t be that bad if he only killed when he had to, but he literally kills all the time. There are so many instances where he could do something non-lethally but just chooses not to seemingly just because he wants to. For me, this is just too far removed from what I know Batman to be. This just feels like some guy who puts on a costume as an excuse to kill people, which makes him arguably worse than most of the criminals he’s fought. (This is a heavily edited version of my original comment. So if you see replies that don’t make sense, they are probably responding to and pointing out flaws in my previous comment.)
@@greasycheese9050 - it’s been 21 years of bullshit in Gotham with no signs of anything getting better, that no kill rule died long ago, especially after Leto’s joker killed Robin.
The real batman is the one in either in the arkham games, or the animated films. Or the starting comics. No other has been able to signify batman correctly.
you guys got to remember the killing thing is not permanent, it was only in BvS where after 20 years in gotham he started killing because of how damaged he was becoming. It was literally one of the motives for superman to engage with batman. Again batman in the end of BvS stated that his path was clear again, therefore trying not to kill.
my point exactly on why I hate this. That is something Batman would never do. The DCEU has no concept of the character and actions of batman besides driving a batmobile and punching people.

@KingÆgon The look and design of the movie to me was terrible. The characters didn't look anything like their original designs even a little. And Harley Quinn, who stood out in Suicide Squad was just annoying to me in this movie. I don't know why you're bringing up racism. These are just my opinions on the movie.
That's what's weird about this Batman being in this film, or this film taking place in the BvS universe. This is wrong on so many levels- 1. Batman never attack someone in a dark alley in front of his child 2. If Batman says he doesn't want to do this in front a child he will not do it 3. Batman would beat the shit out of him, he doesn't need any protection from a child
He didn't beat the shit out of him because he was in front of Deadshot's daughter. He didn't wanna traumatize a kid. And even when batman says he doesn't wanna do something he still does it when it is necessary.

There's a universe in which people who understand Batman and good storytelling made this movie. In that universe, this scene played out differently. Deadshot drops off his daughter at her mom's, it gets quiet and then he says "thanks for waiting." Batman then appears from the shadows. THEN this fight happens.
The cast -Ben affleck as Batman -Jared leto as marilyn manson i meant the joker -Margot robbie as harley queen -will smith as will smith in a deadshot costume .
I’m kinda disappointed this scene wasn’t Batman stalking dead shot until his daughter was home or something and then once Batman goes for him Deadshot goes, “thanks for waiting.” Would endear the audience to the characters a bit more. Edit: Jeez, I totally forgot about this comment and by the time I come back it's got 4k, so thanks for that. In response to all the comments, yes, I realize that Batman is not a nice person, he beats up mentally ill people and throws them in an Asylum where they are treated like trash. I get that Batman isn't and shouldn't be considered a nice person. However, his character, his one defining character trait, is that deep down, he cares for people and doesn't want the same thing that happened to him as a kid happen to others. As mentioned by myself and a few others later down this guy nearly killed Superman, he doesn't need a handicap, especially when it is in the form of a CHILD. A lot of people also mentioned that this scene was to show Deadshot's love for his daughter and honestly, that could've been fixed too. He could've figured out Batman was following him, maybe because Batman wanted him to know and didn't "want to do this in front of your daughter." Deadshot instead tells his daughter that he loves her, realizing that Batman is here and he really doesn't stand a chance. He says goodbye and they have an actual fight. Someone mentioned that this would be filler, but to be honest, if you showed off Deadshot's capabilities here, it would cut out the part where he shows off to the government, for no real reason. I will, however, play devil's advocate for a moment here. This Batman is older and Robin has already died, so I suppose it could make sense, but then again, the writers weren't boxed into a corner that made Batman some evil guy. Sure they showed Batman killing dudes, which to be honest, I don't think is that bad, but in front of a child, it is much much different. In conclusion, I should mention that I know Synder didn't direct it, but even if he did I wouldn't necessarily blame him, right now, I'm blaming the writers for not doing their job and creating a scene that kinda messes with who Batman is. Once again, Batman being different from his comic book counterpart isn't necessarily a bad thing, but he's been shown off as a brutal fighter. There's not a whole lot in his previously shown character that endears him to the audience, what I'm suggesting would endear not only him but Deadshot as well in a more natural way. No, this isn't a Batman movie, but it is an interconnected universe and the writers should try and take this into account. I appreciate the discussion and I hope everyone can keep it civil!
@@StealEp I’m guessing because this SS movie flopped. But if they gave it a chance, and maybe even used James Gunn to direct it, a Deadshot movie would be kickass.

Him turning himself in is how he always has been portrayed doing everything for his daughter or at least always caring for her so him turning himself in was because he didn’t want his daughter to see him for the monster that he is

PermanentHigh you and me both pal but no worries there, apparently Will called the studio to say he’s not done with the role and might be coming back which is why they didn’t replace him with Edris Alba. I agree, most people wanted to see Harley most from the suicide squad and of course, Joker as the villain. Everyone thought it was just gonna be will smith as plain will smith again, but he did make a difference here. His character had the most coherent backstory. Joker and Harley’s backstories are screwed up by editing.
The title of that movie was so weird. They spelled it happyness in the title. LOL! That kid never did get his Captain America action figure back though. Maybe Deadshot could help....

I don't see the connection at all. Deadshot is a criminal, comitting crimes and doing illegal stuff, Zoey knows this and she doesn't like it. That's why she asked him to "not do it". Batman is just doing the right thing hand-cuffing him in an alley, it's nothing at all compared to a guy to murdered a couple for no reason in an alley.
Deadshot kills people for a living and only jailed, whilst Batman's parents literally did nothing and got murdered. Do you maybe see that a criminal getting hand cuffed infront of their daughter is better than both a boys parents getting shot infront of him? You have a brain, use it.
While I don't agree with killing, Deadshot seems to be killing mostly bad people. Plus he wasn't born a BILLIONAIRE like Bruce Wayne. The REAL Batman would arrest Deadshot but financially look after his daughter.
nah, smith is garbage, I hate how deadshot in this movie got to even "think" about toe to toe with batman. If it wasnt Will Smith then they wouldnt even have that in the script

You clearly don't understand or are just trying to be obtuse about this scene. Batman didn't do it "infront of his daughter" until deadshot refused to go in quietly and started to shoot batman. It's always said (in the last several years at least) that Batman's suit will protect him from lower-impact bullets from a distance. If he's shot in his armor with a low impact gun at close range, it will still probably injure him. Buuuuut... Obviously, a shot to the head from any distance/any gun will injure him a hugely, if not kill him (like where his head isn't covered).
This scene feels so wrong on many aspects. Bruce is creating a similar trauma of what he had during his childhood, he'll never do this in front of a child. There could have been so many moments were Deadshot was alone, as we can hear her daughter spends a lot of her time with her mum. I don't know, this version of Batman is missing the point of being Batman
Bs "trauma" batman didnt kill him, he arrested him for being the bad man that his daughter already knew he was. Just Seconds before she says she knows he kills people and does bad things.
@@greasycheese9050 - it’s been 21 years of bullshit in Gotham with no signs of anything getting better, that no kill rule died long ago, especially after Leto’s joker killed Robin.

you guys got to remember the killing thing is not permanent, it was only in BvS where after 20 years in gotham he started killing because of how damaged he was becoming. It was literally one of the motives for superman to engage with batman. Again batman in the end of BvS stated that his path was clear again, therefore trying not to kill.

Batman is just doing the right thing hand-cuffing him in an alley, it's nothing at all compared to a guy to murdered a couple for no reason in an alley.
Mr. Werewolf Your point?
Deadshot kills people for a living and only jailed, whilst Batman's parents literally did nothing and got murdered. Do you maybe see that a criminal getting hand cuffed infront of their daughter is better than both a boys parents getting shot infront of him? You have a brain, use it.

If Batman woulda joked about his wife who knows what he would have done🙈
Goddamn I knew it was bound to happen
Giving slaps
This was so bound to happen bruh 😭
Lol Batman is the dude on the side banging her.. 😂
batman would beat deadshot up no difficulty man fucked super man up and fought slade wilson and won deadshot who bruh deadshot didnt die by a shot he died by some rich guys hand bruh it bruce would beat him up no bat suit needed
This movie was released 5 years ago and I still don't get it why Batman didn't stay on the roof and shout to Deadshot:
*"Its over Deadshot, I have the high ground"*
the Black Mask Of DCEU owns that line not Batman

batman be like "kid that bullet aint gonna kill me"
Deadshot once shot batman in the freaking mouth (cause it was open)
Gregory Magarshak yeah i thought so. But i believe bruce wayne aint stupid. There is probably some force field protecting the mouth and the eyes.
Muhammad Afique Yusoff oh boy
it's true there is some invisible material that protects his mouth and eyes
It's always said (in the last several years at least) that Batman's suit will protect him from lower-impact bullets from a distance. If he's shot in his armor with a low impact gun at close range, it will still probably injure him.
Buuuuut... Obviously, a shot to the head from any distance/any gun will injure him a hugely, if not kill him (like where his head isn't covered).
Dude, stop holding your phone like you're about to eat it, it's not a sandwich.
Why else do you think she said for him to stop when batman was there?
Batman didnt murder him in cold blood. Apples and oranges
I know,
I mean he said he didnt wanna do it in front of his daughter he warned him lol
I believe he used her as leverage
That was the point of his character arc
"Zoe move! I may be the hitman who never misses, but there is no way I can hit that 6 foot 4 inch adult man standing a few feet behind your skinny 5 foot body!"
ha ha
Like he could kill Batman.
Mickey E, it was Batman’s plan, he knew that he wasn’t gonna shoot
@@mickeye6428 Deadshot can kill Batman. He once shot Batman's head from almost 1 mile out. Batman still lives due to the kevlar lining inside his cowl but he got a massive concussion. The two other people who almost killed Batman is Deathstroke and Bane.
@@ShadowMoon878 So what you are saying is that you have an anecdote that supports my point that Deadshot could never kill Batman.
"Yeah, I'm a hero. Did I ever tell you about the time I used an 11 year old girl as a human shield?"
He didn't use her, she chose to stand in between them.
@@bigdaddydiesel5520 It's the goddamn Batman, he could've just lightly pushed her aside.

@@Angel_SalcedoSalcedo but you didn't you were meant to say: "Deadshot is so badass no one knows he exists..." (which also makes no sense because if he was the most wanted hitman people would know he existed). you've clearly confused the two.
Batman definitely is the kind of character who would attack a father in a dark alley in front of his daughter to take him away from her forever.
It’s a shame we didn’t get more Batflek against his villains.
I agree man, so much wasted potential smh.
Let's hope we do, the hbo max rumor sounds amazing. I wanna see him square off against Will Smith's Deadshot, Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke and hell, even Jared Leto's Joker, he's a great actor after all and I'm sure if he is given the right tools to work with he can actually pull off a good Joker, not this garbage from SS.

Whether the writing here wasn't all Batman like, we can agree that Ben Affleck is still a cool Batman, even in this scene.
I think that's my big problem with him. He looks like Batman and can clearly play the part, but I don't like the material he's given, and I'm included Joss Whedon, David Ayer, and Zack Snyder.
