The more I look, I appreciate Jared's joker. I mean every actor portrayed the joker differently, and thats good. You don't want them copying off each other, everyone has the preferences. Now, I feel like the lack of screen time messed with the quality of his Joker. They even said there were way more scenes and Jared ended getting screwed over. If we had more scenes we would have been able to fully grasp it. His joker was good for the theme that this movie was making.

Many people still don't understand the scene of the Joker killing the man in the stripclub. Every time something happened in the imagination of the Joker or Harely Quinn there is a small transition of colors. The whole situation of Harely saying "I'm all yours" to the gangster is part of the Joker's imagination. The only thing that was real was from the phrase "You got a bad bitch" to the murder of the guy (making sense to the phrase "God helps everyone who disrispects the Queen). I think they wanted to reflect a little more the madness of this Joker (for me they succeeded)
Agreed. A lot of people didn’t like this version of the Joker because he was ACTUALLY insane, he was imagining things that didn’t happen. I do feel like they could have done better, but this Joker seemed cool and whilst not accurate to the comics, he was unique in his own way.
Unpopular opinion from someone studying acting: Jared’s actually a good actor, it’s just the role wasnt necessarily right and the script coulda been better, they tried to make the joker out to be something different to fit into modern scenarios like the mafia, but just that and it just didn’t work. Mark Hamill when he does his Joker voice, puts his whole body into it. The animators even would use some of his mannerisms during production. I'm just going to say this here: Jared Leto was not bad at all, he is perfectly fit for THIS joker, as a more modern villian, but we can all agree that this isn't the original Joker we're talking about. You could say it just isn't the same character, but I still think Leto did amazing.
He did the best he could do with the bad script and the bad direction he got. It was many scenes that was cut from the movie and in my opinion its hard to rate Letos Joker in suicide squad since we barely see him. If we could see all the scenes they cut, then maybe I could give a more honest review. But Yeah, the little we see of him its pretty bad. But its mostly because of the script and the direction as stated before. Compare it to Justice League, Leto was only in one scene, but there he is vastly improved and did great in my opinion. That was probably the more original vision they had for Letos Joker, before they rewrote Suicide squad into a more light hearted film.

I always thought Jared Leto’s Joker was spot on….he really seemed scary and psychotic. His acting was very under appreciated and underrated despite his excellent performance.
Never saw this movie and a massive fan of Ledgers Joker, but I got chills when Leto instantly switched from charming to terrifying when he said, "I need a machine gun." My mom worked at Atascadero State Hospital (prison asylum) for 20 years and one of her coworkers snuck guns into the unit to give to a patient she developed feelings for. He ended up taking her hostage, walking out of the hospital with a gun to her head, and killing her in the parking lot before trying to get into her car to drive away. The worst part is that womans husband was one of the guards that witnessed it that day. So trust me, that stuff actually happens. X

Unpopular opinion from someone studying acting: Jared’s actually a good actor, it’s just the role wasnt necessarily right and the script coulda been better, they tried to make the joker out to be something different to fit into modern scenarios like the mafia, but just that and it just didn’t work. Thats’s just my opinion tho, feel free to correct! :)
Jared Leto gave a great performance. The role was perfect for him and making the joker different works. Just make a script where hes relevant to the plot and make him r rated

1:20 that facial expression is so animated looking. I love it. Seriously Jared Leto is the animated series joker in his mannerisms. People say Leto overacts in his movements and voice. Mark Hamill when he does his Joker voice, puts his whole body into it. The animators even would use some of his mannerisms during production. Honestly I've grown to like Leto's Joker and hope he comes back to the role if Ben Affleck gives him a solid part in a Batman solo film.

He did the best he could do with the bad script and the bad direction he got. It was many scenes that was cut from the movie and in my opinion its hard to rate Letos Joker in suicide squad since we barely see him. If we could see all the scenes they cut, then maybe I could give a more honest review. But Yeah, the little we see of him its pretty bad.
But its mostly because of the script and the direction as stated before.
Compare it to Justice League, Leto was only in one scene, but there he is vastly improved and did great in my opinion. That was probably the more original vision they had for Letos Joker, before they rewrote Suicide squad into a more light hearted film.

People complaining about Jared’s Joker being a mafia boss, are the same people who probably praise Jack Nicholson’s portrayal even tho they’re both Mafia Bosses. Personally this Joker is not that bad (minus the tattoos), this is literally the most accurate representation of the joker’s first appearance in the golden age.

I always thought Jared Leto’s Joker was spot on….he really seemed scary and psychotic. His acting was very under appreciated and underrated despite his excellent performance.
Never saw this movie and a massive fan of Ledgers Joker, but I got chills when Leto instantly switched from charming to terrifying when he said, "I need a machine gun."
My mom worked at Atascadero State Hospital (prison asylum) for 20 years and one of her coworkers snuck guns into the unit to give to a patient she developed feelings for. He ended up taking her hostage, walking out of the hospital with a gun to her head, and killing her in the parking lot before trying to get into her car to drive away.
The worst part is that womans husband was one of the guards that witnessed it that day. So trust me, that stuff actually happens. X
