The more I look, I appreciate Jared's joker. I mean every actor portrayed the joker differently, and thats good. You don't want them copying off each other, everyone has the preferences. Now, I feel like the lack of screen time messed with the quality of his Joker. They even said there were way more scenes and Jared ended getting screwed over. If we had more scenes we would have been able to fully grasp it. His joker was good for the theme that this movie was making.
This movie was quite the failure. But if the joker was in it more, I can guarantee, without a doubt, this movie would have crashed and burned to ash.

Many people still don't understand the scene of the Joker killing the man in the stripclub. Every time something happened in the imagination of the Joker or Harely Quinn there is a small transition of colors. The whole situation of Harely saying "I'm all yours" to the gangster is part of the Joker's imagination. The only thing that was real was from the phrase "You got a bad bitch" to the murder of the guy (making sense to the phrase "God helps everyone who disrispects the Queen). I think they wanted to reflect a little more the madness of this Joker (for me they succeeded)
Agreed. A lot of people didn’t like this version of the Joker because he was ACTUALLY insane, he was imagining things that didn’t happen.
I do feel like they could have done better, but this Joker seemed cool and whilst not accurate to the comics, he was unique in his own way.

I feel he overdid the role. He tried to be crazy, but came off as more idiotic. He had the demeanor of an emo teenager.
I also felt his laugh was terrible. He just made a sort of creaking noise. If you listen to Jack Nicholson or Cesar Romero's joker, they have actual laughs. Mark Hamill's joker had an array of laughs for different emotions. Jared Leto's isn't iconic, or make anyone think of joker.
2:20 to 2:30 I find very interesting in how he is staring at Harley dancing. Hands down the Mannequin challenge champion....to me he's gazing at her with a mix of lust, obsession, possessiveness, and turmoil at his own feelings bubbling up which shouldn't exist because he is a psychopath and is not supposed to have feelings (joker logic....he explained this to Harley in the motorcycle scene). I would be interested in anyone else's thoughts or interpretation cuz I'm dying of curiosity.....I want to know exactly what's behind that haunting creepy stare.

Unpopular opinion from someone studying acting: Jared’s actually a good actor, it’s just the role wasnt necessarily right and the script coulda been better, they tried to make the joker out to be something different to fit into modern scenarios like the mafia, but just that and it just didn’t work. 1:20 that facial expression is so animated looking. I love it. Seriously Jared Leto is the animated series joker in his mannerisms. People say Leto overacts in his movements and voice. Mark Hamill when he does his Joker voice, puts his whole body into it. The animators even would use some of his mannerisms during production. Honestly I've grown to like Leto's Joker and hope he comes back to the role if Ben Affleck gives him a solid part in a Batman solo film.

I don't care what anybody says, I like Leto's joker. Sure, Ledger was special. He was the first of a new breed with this character on the silver screen. But the thing with Leto is I can imagine this guy being the one to break Batman and turn him into the guy we saw in BvS. The one that's cruel, that kills. I'm just going to say this here: Jared Leto was not bad at all, he is perfectly fit for THIS joker, as a more modern villian, but we can all agree that this isn't the original Joker we're talking about. You could say it just isn't the same character, but I still think Leto did amazing.

He didn't do amazing, his Joker was fucking embarrassing. I'm sorry.
He did the best he could do with the bad script and the bad direction he got. It was many scenes that was cut from the movie and in my opinion its hard to rate Letos Joker in suicide squad since we barely see him. If we could see all the scenes they cut, then maybe I could give a more honest review. But Yeah, the little we see of him its pretty bad.
But its mostly because of the script and the direction as stated before.
Compare it to Justice League, Leto was only in one scene, but there he is vastly improved and did great in my opinion. That was probably the more original vision they had for Letos Joker, before they rewrote Suicide squad into a more light hearted film.
this joker had SOOO much potential, easily could've been the most gangster/badass. definitely needs his "own" movie of sorts
You can tell how chopped and screwed this scene is just by the transitions around the 1:09 mark. They cut out a lot of stuff.
I must admit this ,Jared Leto for the screen time he had ,he was a terrific joker,the psychotic Joker acting he brings and that unique Joker Laugh of Jared Leto is iconic stuff🔥😈😈.He deserves more films actually as a Joker.

People complaining about Jared’s Joker being a mafia boss, are the same people who probably praise Jack Nicholson’s portrayal even tho they’re both Mafia Bosses. Personally this Joker is not that bad (minus the tattoos), this is literally the most accurate representation of the joker’s first appearance in the golden age.

Man I came back to this scene to refresh my memory of some movies I had forgotten and my gosh the hate on the joker- It may have not portrayed the original ideal joker but it really pulled through for the younger audience and the "modern" joker. When the movie was released it was so good for the younger audience rather than the older ones who can only see the joker in a certain light. It's not really the comic books joker, its the modern day joker. I say it pulled through for the younger ones because it was heavily based on his and Harleys "romance"/relationship.

Although it wasn't the best joker, there were moments that were likeable and I think Jared Leto did a great job creating a new and unique characteristic to someone who can have a lot of layers. Unfortunately, it wasn't something that everyone really accepted. But I like how he made the Joker twisted and cocky, a huge departure from the maniacal part of the character.
I wish we could just get a movie revolving around the crazy nightlife that this version of Gotham has. We’ve seen some of it in Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey. Gotham has a life of its own, let’s see it!
I think that Jared Leto when they were in the club actually proved he loved her. He said she was the itch in his crotch, AND he had also gotten upset that Monster T was hitting on her. He was crazy upset.
