Everyone talking about Thanos’s lines but I love the drive and tenacity behind Thor’s “Let’s kill him proper this time.” There’s a vengeance swimming in those eyes. Something that screams “you’re not beating me again”.
Notice at 1:50, when Thanos stands, Tony takes a step backwards, Cap stands his ground and Thor takes a step forward. These small details perfectly amplify how how character is feeling in these moments, Iron man has fought thanos before and knows of his power, so he is wary. Cap never backs down from a fight no matter the challenge and Thor burdened with guilt from infinity war, feels anger and hatred towards Thanos, so is ready to ‘throw’ the first punch in the fight
They've been fighting so many aliens and robots since The First Avengers movie also one of the Avengers is a God of Thunder and they also have a talking raccoon and tree, a guy who can turn to be a giant, a guy who can shrink and grow his size, a guy who can shoot web, a guy and a girl who can do magic with their hands as allies. They've been used to it.
You have to admit, after spending years of establishing themselves in the MCU, seeing all those heroes and characters pour in and unite into that army is one of the best scenes in cinema history.
one of best yet without all those scenes in the previous movies it would mean shit to see a bunch of nobodies from comics run around screen for 3 seconds
"just as long as we're all in agreement" - fine line that, considering how the big three were never on the same page and always fighting, antagonizing, contradicting & one - upping each other in all the movies until this scene.
The Soul Stone made all the difference. In the original timeline, Thanos had to sacrifice the one thing he loved most to get all six stones. It tempered him. He felt the full weight of what he was committed to doing. That's why when he was on the cusp of victory, he was gracious. He understood that what he was doing wasn't right, even if it was necessary. This Thanos never went through that. He doesn't comprehend the upheaval he's causing, so he is more rash. Destroying everything isn't a heavy burden to him. It's just calculus. Neither right or wrong. It is simply... _inevitable._
I completely agree. I also heard a reason why Thanos lost this timeline (out of the millions) was because he made it personal. All the other Thanos timelines were strictly business.
0:37 I keep rewatching this scene, cause though Thor might not be a powerful reality warper like Dr. Strange or Scarlet Witch, him changing the weather of the world just by making his eyes glow is still very cool.
ikr, i hope we see more of Thor's godly powers on Thor: Love and Thunder. Thor's entrance on wakanda is satisfying and all especially when he jumps and hammers the ground, but still isn't enough, we need more lol
I remember when I first saw this scene in the theater. When Thor spoke and the thunder roared, I knew it was about to be epic, but I did not expect the more than epic viking makeover he was gonna get, I loved every second of it. The scene seemed longer then somehow, eternal even, although Thor is fully transformed in under a minute, it felt like the longest wait, but it was so much worth it
That shot that 0:53 to 0:58 is perfect. The camera at the legs of the Big Three and Thanos nefariously sitting in the backround. All you hear is suspenseful music and the steps of each Avenger on dirt and rubble.
It's been more than 2 years now but the fact that Thor was just standing there and staring at his reason for depression, heartbreak and guilt is just so powerful of a scene. I wonder that was he thinking all that time.
In the first Avengers movie, when Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America first met, they were fighting over Loki. Now they're working together. It's come full circle!
i guess..but it is difficult to believe that 3 ...could not finish off thanos....yet, thanos couldn't finish off 1............this to difficult to believe
One of the best scenes, Thanos is just a crazy good villain at really making you feel legitimate fear. I also just loved seeing Tony, Cap, and Thor an iconic trio, both in fights they’ve had and conversations.
Thanos was savage in this film and was nearly unstoppable that required not the most powerful heroes like Captain Marvel to defeat him, but a mortal man with armor and the stones to destroy the ferocious beast once and for all.
The way Thanos delivers the "They'll never know it." I can't help but notice a subtle smirk on his face and then he turns serious right after as he finishes it by saying "because you won't be alive to tell them". What incredible acting from Josh! By far one of the most iconic movie villains of all time 🙌

I think alot of people forget that the Thanos they fought in this movie isn't the same as the one from 2018. There is no wisdom in his projections.
Not wise. Reads like the type of people who want to rewrite history so we stop complaining about the way things are going. "If you control the present you control the past, and if you control the past you control the future" kind of subversion.
So basically he is saying that he dictates their future because he deemed it so. Therefore, they should accept his plan and stop looking towards the past.
Not to mention the fact that he went to meet them not with the full force he commanded, but by himself. He was so utterly confident in his victory that he deemed that he alone would be enough to win the battle. It was only when he wanted to crush Steves spirit that he called on his army. If he had done that from the start, it wouldnt have been a very long fight.
No he HAD respect, that's why he spoke calmly to them, didn't insult them or call them weak, waited for them to come to him and faced them alone instead of just having the ships shoot the 3 of them while they were out in the open or order his full army to just march on the remains of the building while he stayed back. Thanos was class A narcissist, the dude literally acknowledged how flawed his “solution” was but still somehow tried to make it seem like problem was everyone else. The guy was obsessed with death and deluded himself into thinking it was some kind of philosophical destiny bs. I’m gonna miss him.
I think they could have portrayed Thanos better. After being shown the error of his ways, the sane and logical thing to do would be to abandon the plan and get on with his life. From the beginning, simply eliminating half of life was an awkward direction. Fighting everyone to save them was an awkward direction. Infinity war could’ve been written better. This is apparent because we had no idea what Thanos wanted until the second trailer, and we waited 10 years for a war that lasted a day. The war should’ve spilled over into the second part, making the hunt for the stones longer and more eventful, or Thanos should’ve simply been after universal domination, snapping half of life out of existence as an intimidation method. The Russos told us we would know why Thanos was the baddest, then promptly abandoned that concept by having a group of rejects nearly beat him on Titan. The writing and planning could use some improvement.
@@theirishhero81 dude that takes away everything philosophical that was in him. Thanos eliminating half of life is in his eyes a savior. @Daniel Rodriguez How old are you kid?
i mean to be fair thats not totally true...they always had each other's back
The Soul Stone made all the difference.

So basically he is saying that he dictates their future because he deemed it so. Therefore, they should accept his plan and stop looking towards the past.
The little nuance of Thanos getting up turning his back to them is so badass. Not one ounce of respect or fear given.
Predatory behavior. Slow movements when not in combat combined with the turning of the back showing confidence.

The most fascinating character in the MCU

Somebody pointed out Dr Strange was sitting very similar 2 Thanos on Titan
@@DanielBenjamin184 watermarking comments nice
Strange sort of did the same thing in infinity war almost as a way of secretly and preemptively mocking him. xD
A god who fell from grace who learnt to find his honour again. A man who suffered the consequences of his actions who used his powers to make things right. A soldier born with nothing given the power to do everything. All against a threat to existence itself. The true, final battle of the Avengers.
Beautiful,your comment and the film💯
Beautiful summery of the big 3
and every single 1 of them got selfish interests... except thanos... he dont gain anything from it... avengers good guys? they all couldnt cope with reality... thus they went to past so they could bend reality to their prefered state... best example rogers
@@baksannniamnn5518 Well, why not your loved ones were erased from existence because of some guy that thought what he was doing was right. But he wasn't because he sacrificed innocent people. Be honest most of us are the types of people who would go back and redo a failed test to get a better grade if we could. We can all understand. Regardless of the reason Thanos did what he did h was still a villain. Look at how many suffered. Besides if he was doing something all that great why not at least try to explain it to everyone. He had followers why not sacrifice them instead since his cause needed to be filled through sacrifice.
Just three idiots like every one of us who can't let go. Only big.
2019: You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me.
2024: *Robert Downey Jr returns*
Whoever wrote the lines for Thanos really deserves a gold star for doing a good job.
For real its so chilling
the words yes...but.....thanos is apparently stronger then the 3....yet he couldn't finish either one off......it took to long.....
for real though🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Well yeah, thanos's every line was quote...what he was saying was absolutely correct.
Was that a homecoming reference ned says something similar
That line from Thor though:" Lets kill him properly this time"
Has such a nice ring to it and gives me chills.
Vision once said: "Our very strength invites challenge. Challenge incites conflict. And conflict... breeds catastrophe."
Thanos proves that point...
You should've said that in a civil war clip
Exactly even i guess Thor or Captain says this to fury in avenger first part
That you're the ones who's inviting other worlds to challenge you because of your power because fury and shield have been developing weapons with tesseract's power
And where's Vision now😢
@@morganlasch8750 He's dead.

Thor: *throws stormbreaker into his head*

Nah, imagine Professor Hulk transform into The World Breaker Hulk and he went to Thanos and one shotted Thanos. Thanos passed away and World Breaker said "Puny Titan."

0:37 that thunder gives me goosebumps 🔥
Me too. It's a shame he only uses his lightning/thunder powers to look cool this one time, then reverts to melee attacks entire time against Thanos. This is the most badass wr ever see Thor and its just for show. :(
@@ZC.Andrew- Exactly. But this film director envisioned otherwise for whatever reason. His lightning power was used to repel Hela, and overpower Hulk. Thor should’ve entered his avatar state for this fight. Literally become a god of thunder.
@@empyrean196it's so cool
@@empyrean196yeah Thor should of been in the Avatar State
Never forget that scene in IMAX
Imagine if Thanos constantly stuttered during his iconic lines…
“Sh.sh..sh..shred…”
Tony: "What's he been doing?"
Patrick: "He's just sitting there, MENANCINGLY!!"
Fuck i made this comment then found yours
Anyone notice that he stole other thor's hammer
@@black_knight1222 he returned it
🤣🤣🤣🤣
andddd he ruins it with an edit
RDJ's acting is fantastic in this scene. from his expression in 2:16 alone, you can tell there's a mix of confidence (thanks to cap and thor being there), anger (because he lost peter), and fear (because he now has to protect pepper AND morgan, and the last time he fought thanos it didn't go so well)
Was thinking the same thing, really embodies the tone and the stakes
Underrated comment so far...
And the fact he sees him all armored up with a big ass blade and he already knew what thanos was Capable of, tony Probably thought they was lowkey fucked but still had hope
I thought I was the only one who noticed this but yeah RDJ killed it. This whole scene was so fucking hype in the theaters.
I saw that. But that’s the face of an angry guy who knows that “this monster needs to die here and now” cause he’s serious and means business.hence why he didn’t hesitate to snap his finger later.
The way Josh delivers every line... Thanos feels real. He feels so cruel and yet *right* the same time. This entire movie is absolutely amazing.
Right about what? Lol
@ant3352 Idk, man, looking at all the various wars, the way humanity treats each other, animals, and the planets. Then imaging the universe sort of similar to Earth. The twisted ways humanity has found ways to torture each other and other life, the genocide that's been committed, the hoarding and wasting of precious resources.
Not saying he's right, but I get that people would side with him. Especially if you're on the receiving end of the cruelty.
@@cerebrum3000 boo hoo. life goes on and no one who tries to control life does a good job - no one.
@@ant3352Well in his own twisted way Thanos is trying to help the universe. He saw what overpopulation and the exhaustion of natural resources that follows did to his own planet and race, and vowed it would never happen again.
He wants to create a better, happier universe but his end goal requires him to kill trillions of beings.
And this Thanos essentially wants to create a new universe which is a utopia, but again he’ll kill everyone in the old universe to help forge his new one.
Also the detail and movement of the CGI that is Thanos, it all has weight, his mouth movements, facial expressions, it never feels "animated" it feels and looks so *Realistic*, even his eyes and it's very hard to get CGI eyes to look and feel "alive".
Funny how the Tony, Rogers and Thor are walking slowly towards him and he's just...sitting. Thanos be spitting Iconic lines 24/7
"Let's kill him properly this time"
Shoulda gave Mjolnir to Steve beforehand
there was wonder in his tone when he says "I knew it!" probably like he actually just had a hunch but still needed to see it happen before actually believing.
Hell they prob could have won. U notice cap was getting rag dolled most of the fight

Today I noticed that even before Steve and Tony, thor was there with all his grief and anger staring dead at Thanos. He would have imagined what will happen in few minutes, so he was literally ready to be that badass god of thunder from being a fat funny wasted guy.
Its his payback time
They did him bad
@@SUNILKUMAR-yd2vj they did him bad bc the Russo bros have some sort of hard on for both Captains and Wanda. Thor is the God of Thunder and for that reason alone he's the strongest in the MCU.
@@johnallen2311 I mean cap America deserves it and all but like, cap marvel and Wanda are srsly overrated
@@johnallen2311 They didn't do him bad, they showed how he was broken by Infinity War yet still kept going and was badass despite being out of shape.
I loved this Thor. He's so vengeful and dark, full of sorrow and fight. I feel like we should've got him earlier with the death of his mother.
Yeah, Thor became better with time, first getting his hair cut, than discovering his "lightning form"(Odin Force), than getting Stormbreaker, getting far more serious, too bad he became fathor and couldn't go 5 minutes without a beer...
@Just A RANDOM DUDE A little too early to judge?
In love of thunder, he’ll be a lot more fit I think.
@@Us3r739 Oh yeah most definitely. The set photos show hemsworth more buff than he ever has been
Thor got nerfed thanx to the 5 years, because in infinity war, he fking decimated thanos alone.
5 years later still gives chills one of the greatest scenes in mcu history
“As long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those that are unable to accept what *can* be”
Hits real deep this quote is underrated.
i love how thanos and tony can never be happy..they both played god..and met their ends cause i guess they put too much on their shoulders that no one asked them to...they chose to do so for themself...thus they faced the consequences of that...tony legit can not just be happy..he gets a happy life ands its not good for anyone else...so he must die to fix it...thanos saw himself win and wanted that joy and instead he got beat cause of his own pride...the only outcome where he lost...i do like how post snap tony no longer has the stress of his vision and can be happy for once which he has not been since the first iron man started...and even then he was empty inside and felt neglected...after the snap while having regret for not dying he seemed to have found some peace the way thanos did despite killing his own daughter for a stone...they both are great foils
Not really. We should never forget.
This line explains his new motivation
If you look closely as Thanos gets up, Tony takes a step back cuz he almost died during his fight on Titan. Steve notices this and stands tall, giving Tony reassurance.
Subtle details like this after watching the clips many times is another reason why i love Marvel movies
Good catch!
Nah Stark steps back so that he can approach from the side. Follow-up closeups show him continuing to approach. Meanwhile Cap stands centrally and Thor mirrors Stark from the other side. The trinity.
Stark is not stepping back. He is moving to cover the side
They are just surrounding him.
They were surrounding him dude. Stop trying to make it as if Tony was afraid and noble leader Cap gave him confidence. Tony was simply getting a better position
