Or if you’re already going to the trouble to boil water, you could just boil a pot of water with some salt in it and you know put eggs into it. Just stir the water up first to get it moving around the pot. crack how ever many eggs you want into a bowl and pour it into the boiling water as it goes around the pot.Remove the poached eggs with a slotted spoon you’re all good
A very handy recipe. I was looking a similar video, in his, he used half as much water, the water was cold, and smaller(half size, if it makes a difference) into a 1250w on high for 50 sec(same as this on 80%) and it came out exactly the same. So...some water in cup and nuke for 50-60sec.and toast. This truly is the idiot proof fresh, hot breakfast a person like me needs.
I have the same microwave as you for past 4 years..and until I watched this video...didnt know I could change power levels!! lol....just made the egg....perfection!
Omg! Just found out the clip last night and tried it this morning. It was amazing, No exploded eggs. I think the key is boiled water before put the egg in. Thank you so much 😄
My "easy" microwave poached egg experience turned into a 20 minute fiasco. After about 40 seconds my egg exploded all over every single inch of the inside of the microwave (with the added fun of egg water dripping out of the microwave and onto my stove). I had even put a plate on top of the bowl I had been cooking the egg inside in order to attempt to contain any possible egg explosions. This didn't work as the "eggsplosion" was so big that it knocked the plate off and shot egg out of the bowl. After this happened, I just cracked 3 more eggs into the bowl with about a teaspoon of water, mixed the eggs around breaking the yolks, covered it with a paper towel this time, and put it into the microwave for 2 minutes while closing my eyes and plugging my ears in case of a nuclear-sized explosion. This time I only heard one little pop, but there was no major explosion. Of course, I was irate as I was cleaning the entire inside of the microwave (and the stove top as well) and I ended up throwing the little circular plastic thingy that the glass microwave platter spins on across the room causing it to hit the wall and break. So, after cleaning everything up I had to repair the broken circular plastic thing. Oh...and then there was the vigorous scrubbing of the bowl that egg residue had become fused with. So, at least twenty minutes later, I finally sat down to eat my poached eggs. Unless a microwave safe container is invented that is equivalent to the strength of the containers they use to contain bomb explosions, I will just continue cooking my eggs on the stove. LOL!
My first egg exploded and made a mess. Second time I used the measuring cup instead of a smaller ramekin dish. Heated the water in the nuke box, put the egg in and put the paper towel folded in half over it. My MW only operates on full power so I did 30 seconds, another 15 secs and kept a watch. One minute was all that was needed, but I burnt the toast. Oh well.
Timing, or duration of heating, is the key. The egg is done before it explodes. For 1 cold egg in water, i use 40 secs. When mine exploded, all the water escaped from the bowl.
I take 1/2 cup cold water in a one cup measuring cup. Cracked egg and place the contents in the cold water. To my liking I microwave it for 45 seconds I do put paper towel on top and using a slotted spoon, I take poached egg out of the cup and put it on my toast. It’s a lot easier than what you are doing. You don’t need to boil water.
I'm wondering if some power conversion between UK and US has something to do with these varying comments about doneness and explosion. BTW runny egg is the way to go. 😊
I make a scrambled egg in the microwave. I just take a plastic bowl or glass but I prefer plastic. Spray it with non-stick cooking spray. Put crack the egg into the bowl. Scramble it. And then put in the microwave for 1 minute. Note. Only do one egg at a time. Don't do two eggs and set the timer for 2 minutes. It does not work.
@@AnnErasmus I also had another thought. For the recipe you did you can just put the water in the measuring cup and heat it in the microwave for 2 minutes. That's boiling. Then pull it out and put the egg in and put it back in the microwave for another minute.
@@AnnErasmus no probs, make sure to use a bowl with the water about two thirds covering the eggs, don't use full power, about 90%, check every 30 secs.
Nope...... 1/2 C COLD WATER 54 secs in micro for extra large egg... No vinegar, no poking the yolk, no hot water........... Viola, perfectly poached egg
Some say to use room-temperature water, while others say to use cold water. He uses hot boiled in the measuring cup and then he breaks the egg in it before placing it in the microwave … 🤔🤔
You are right, however it depends how you would like to spend your 20 grams of carbs a day. Since I have hit my goal weight range I am favouring a low carb diet and feeling better for it. Best wished 😊👍
My friend, just as you pre-made the toast ( as at the end when you buttered it was dry and crackly ) the egg Is what I felt sorry for, all the white was disintegrated in the water, what you were left with was pathetic, obviously you can tell I was not impressed.

Instead of covering it, you can cut a small slit in the top of the yolk to prevent it from exploding.
good idea, thanks
OHHH, gee nobody else ever said to start with boiling water. Thanks for the great tip!

Thank you for posting this. I've got a microwave for the first time in my life and your instructions work perfectly.

Safety alert ‼️. Do not attempt this moronic trick at home. The simple fact that he warned you that it can explode should be all you needed to know.
👍😊
Microwave Poached
Thanks
Explode the egg with that paper towel and see how much of the oven you have to clan up. What a STUPID suggestion.
This dude looks like an Oblivion character for some reason
Ha Ha
How come it takes nearly 3 min to describe how to cook an egg in 1 min?
Also another video is better.
It's easier to drop the egg into a pan of boiling water. It would have been done sooner, and not all dried out.
Yep
That is too well done for a "poached" egg.
Depends on your preference
These can explode at any time. A real mess.
😕👍

How the heck else would you "poach" an egg but in water? Would love an alternative, do you have one for poached eggs with runny yolks?
Yes
