Or....spray the the inside of a coffee mug with spray light, add pinch of salt and pepper, 3/4 fill with boiling water, crack egg into water, 1 minute in microdiddle(800watt)....ta dahhh....perfect poached egg, runny yoke and doesn't stick... guaranteed 👍

@@natssupermarketproductreviews Can't claim any credit, mate. Saw it on a RUclips cookery channel, and it really does work. Just thought the handle on the mug'd be easier for you to deal with. Might have to play about with the amount of boiling water, 'cos it can boil over a bit, in the micro.

It might help if you boil the water in the kettle first and pour the required amount into the egg container. It would eliminate the finger burning step.

you could always get a Salter egg cooker, does boiled eggs perfectly and exactly how you like it and it has two poaching cups and are also brilliant. It's electric and you can set it to the settings of how you like your eggs. I'm a carer and many of the people have arthritis and as carers cannot use the hob for safety reasons, we suggest this as an option to do eggs. I've used them countless times for the service users and even bought one myself.

  • @barrieday6552

I would recommend a quick spray of light olive oil in the cups
before adding boiling water from kettle..... definitely makes
getting them out easier. Also, pricking the yolk with a sharp
knife point seems to make it easier keeping yolk soft.

Tip for a hard yolk: Mash butter into the yolk it’ll help to make it a little runnier. Dad always put butter into a boiled egg when I was little, if the yolk was hard.
I have a plastic (well a few) bowls with handles specifically for microwave use. I do soup, beans, scrambled and poached eggs in them, so a variety of uses. When poaching eggs I mostly just place the plastic lid that came with each dish loosely on the the top and just off to the side a little (so there’s a place for steam to escape). I do poached eggs for 2 mins cos my partner will only eat them with hard yolks (he’s weird).
Brilliant review, instructions followed exactly as on the package, as it should be done. Very interesting, thank you ❤

@@natssupermarketproductreviews I hope you don't find this patronising (as it's not intentional at all) but I can give you one tip, as my mum does this due to her bad arthritis - try froaching - start by cracking the egg into a light, preheated non stick saucepan that you've sprayed with a small amount of oil, let the eggs sizzle for a few seconds until the edges of the white just start to set, and then slowly pour in just enough water to give the eggs a bit of a 'paddle'. Place a lid on the pan and turn off the heat once the water is bubbling. This cooks really fast and you can even cut the eggs to shape for kids if you like.
Be interested to know your thoughts on this, as my mum tried poaching gadgets for years and was never happy with the results because one day her eggs would be perfect and the next they'd be overcooked or undercooked! She eats eggs every day though, so is a bit more fussy than some. She even has an egg cracking device 😂

Can I suggest greasing the moulds slightly with some marg. I also think this is slightly flawed in design. May I point you to the channel of Barry Lewis, him and his wife sometimes do kitchen gadget tests most of which are able to help aid people with disabilities, some cool recipes on there too. All the best for a great week xxx

Don't leave the eggs standing in the hot water while you put the toast on. Obviously that will overcook them. Put them in the MW for 45 seconds straight away or else reduce the cooking time.

An easier way is to spray or smear oil into the cups of the microwave poacher. Then place eggs in the cups. Place poacher in the microwave, Then take four pieces of kitchen towel and folded together and then fold in half. Soak the towel with cold water and place over the top of the poacher. Microwave (my microwave oven is 800 watts so you may need more or less time for other microwaves ovens) for 2 minutes for a runny egg, two minutes, thirty seconds for a firmer egg. Be careful removing the kitchen towel - it will be hot. Due to the oil, the eggs will slide out easily.
