I found a Stonewave new in box at a thrift store for a couple bucks. Thank you, random person out there, who donated it. The advantage of the Stonewave is that you can use it to cook other things, like potatoes. Great for a lazy cook like me, who wants quick results, but still wants to eat healthy by avoiding fats and oils.
I have the stone wave and I use it about 2-3 times a week, and I recommend it. It's easier to clean, it has a handle so easier to remove from microwave, and it doesn't have a bad plastic taste that other plastic version of microwave egg cookers have.
Hah! Who needs a Dash egg cooker?! I never knew you could cook an egg this way! Too easy! Love the coffee cup! When have baked on food gunk on dishes, we use near boiling water and some baking soda. It fizzes up and blasts the gunk away! Okay! I just tried the coffee cup scrambled eggs. THANK YOU FOR THIS! It’s so simple and cheap! Don’t waste your dough on one of those special cups, when you already have what you need in your own house. I cracked two eggs like Mr. FR, added salt n pepper and a healthy dose of shredded sharp cheddar. I then set the mw for 1:15 min and the eggs were nearly done, but there was some liquid at the cup’s bottom. I pushed the add 30 secs button and WOW! Another 15 secs may have been better, but I am SO impressed! The consistency is really no different than scrambled eggs and if you don’t like it, then just cut them up with a fork. These are not light and fluffy, but adding that cheese makes the consistency firmer. Unless you’re a fussy person, this is a BIG WINNER! Gotta show my kid,so he can do this on his own. Now, I’m gonna check out FR’s review on those stand alone egg cookers. My wife ordered one and I’m very skeptical. We have an Instant Pot and I can HB eggs in 5 mins, regardless of how many eggs I put in. That’s the beauty of pressure cookers! So easy!
The stone Wave can be used to cook other food. I make French Onion soup in mine. 1/2 sweet onion chopped, 1 tbs butter. Microwave 2:00-2:30 to cook the onions. Add 1 tbs "Better Than Bouillon" beef base and fill to 3/8" from top with beef stock. Microwave 2:00. Add a couple salad croutons and some cheese. Microwave another 1:30 then enjoy. It's not perfect French Onion soup, but for less than 10 minutes time, it's good and quick.
Thumbs up for the Stonewave. I make my McSchmuffins in it. After egg done, put in a slice of cheese and slice of Canadian ham, pepper, (other seasonings of you choice. Toast your muffin, then slide your Stonewave egg, ham & cheese using mini spatula onto bottom end of toasted muffin, muffin top on and there you go.
I bought a bunch of the stone wave cooker at the dollar store. bought 10 and gave as gifts. I have several for my personal use and it works great all the time. Made dessert and warmed up vegies, omelets and bunch more. great when there is only the 2 people to cook for.
I have the eggtastic one, I found it to be really hard to clean and it was pretty darn dangerous to use. No handle was a real deal breaker. I now use it to hold other items, like a candy jar.
There's a fundamental flaw to this comparison in my opinion, at least with regards to scrambled eggs and their taste. In my experience the main secret to good scrambled eggs (microwaved or stove-top) is to scramble the eggs, cook them a little bit, scramble some more, cook a little bit more (repeat as needed), and get them just barely done to the point that they taste right to you. With different microwaves and cook containers, cook times may vary. Cooking too long is one of the easiest ways to ruin scrambled eggs. So using the same cook times on all these containers may seem like leveling the playing field, but it really just caters to whichever cooking vessel favors the cooking time you chose. Also, when you get the eggs perfect, dump them into another container fast as residual heat in your cooking vessel may continue to cook the egg and turn it from juicy perfection into a foam rubber sponge.
I use the Eggtastic at work and I scramble the eggs before they are completely done, add onions green peppers, salt and pepper and the eggs are delicious and consistency is close to having cooked them on the stove. Just recently added cheese and Im in heaven! To address the awkwardness of handling the container, always use the silicone portions of the container and mittens are not required. I use the silicone knob to tilt the container to grab the bottom silicone portion to safely remove from the microwave. Cleaning is difficult. I soak before washing. Overall, I really like the Eggtastic. It's a great way to save money on breakfast!
I got the eggtastic at a thrift store for $1.50...i thought it was a storage crock until I saw the hole in the lid. Thanks for identifying it and showing how to use it!
I have the 2 stone waves and I love them but, I only bought them because they were 10¢ each at a garage sale. I primarily use them for reheating leftovers or rice... and I also; use canola spray with them. I don't use them for eggs though. I like to use a mug because the eggs are much fluffier and I let it cool a minute before removing the moist paper towel. A little smaller and fits better with the other things on my plate. :) Try this method: Wipe some butter on the bottom of the mug, spray the mug with canola oil, add the egg and barely mix the egg for a scrambled egg or make a mini omelet: mixing in your choice of cooked meats, veggies, etc so long as they are still submerged in the egg...cover with a slightly moist (wrung out) paper towel for either style and cook at 1:00 then, add cheese at the end and cook for an additional minute or no cheese and continue to cook the second minute. Not all microwaves are the same so times may vary and DO NOT beat or bubbles will form...this is the reason many people have given up on scrambling in the microwave. I saw the other video you made where the instructions said to beat the egg. Try it slightly stirred and see if you notice a difference. When we beat them, they kept popping and exploding in the microwave. It's not supposed to be the fourth of July in there. ¯\(°_o)/¯ I love omelets and over-easy eggs but now, I'll have to try a poached egg like you did here and try it with my next Shin Ramyun/Ramen craving. Don't forget that you can use parchment paper in the microwave. I have made some pretty cool omelets using it. I just fold the paper in half, set it on a rounded small plate (slightly concave like a saucer) and put slightly stirred eggs in the center, add cooked meat of choice (chopped ham can be placed in a semi-circle to hold the eggs in too), veggies, cheese, etc...then; twist the paper around to seal (resembling a semicircle) and fold the end under ..but allow some room for air to escape on either end. Do not staple and cook for 1½ minutes or more depending on the mass in the parchment paper nest (cooking times may vary). I let it cool in the wrap while making the others and it keeps it warm till everyone is ready to come to the table. I love my eggs...as you can see. I just love how fluffy eggs come out when cooked in the microwave and slightly stirred is perfect for me.
I love eggs, and have had the stonewave cooker for several years. The problem is that I keep forgetting I have it, and it stays in the cupboard. A couple of months ago, I got that rapid egg cooker based on your review, and with some minor cooking adjustments (because I use jumbo eggs) that is the winner for me. Thanks for these!
Try the SoneWave's instructions for poached eggs -- they're +/- perfect (depending upon your microwave!). The French Onion Soup recipe is utterly fantastic. I substitute Better Than Bouillon for the cube of bouillon, however!
Thanks to this review I found out what that "weird" item I found when my hubby & I inherited father's house. It is the eggtastic. Now I have to go get it out from the shed.
Bought my eggtastic by accident at the dollar store (had on belt for a price check bc it was on clearance and forgot it was there) but that is okay, just used it tonight and my only complaint is handling it. I have trouble with my hands between arthur and neuropathy to name a few it was almost done for as soon as it got started. I made 2 eggs with precooked bacon, cheese, diced tomato, green pepper, onion, mushrooms and it was really good. I will be using it for that alot going forward. But side note it did make my mushrooms very rubbery almost too much so I will omit them or adjust my cook time.
The Eggtastic box implied that the lid with holes let the steam moisten the eggs. Since you didn't cover the mug, do you think a lid helped or didn't make a difference?
Its most likely that the only difference is the way each product retained or dispersed the heat. I've had an egg-tastic for a while but when it was new I often over-cooked the eggs drying them out a lot. The texture changes a lot when you over cook them. If the eggs boil during cooking, it ends up with very tiny bubbles in the texture that just feels weird and tastes weak. I finally understand why they recommend a preset x minutes (depending on the number of eggs) and then you check them and cook again for only 15 or 20 seconds at a time and check them in between. I have an 1100 watt microwave. Since I usually cook 3 eggs each day, I go straight to 80 seconds and then add 1 additional 15 to 20 second zap if necessary. Because the eggs I buy vary in size a bit, I often have to do 1 15 or 20 second zap. But when I was regularly buying jumbo eggs and adding toppings like meat and cheese, I was often doing 2 extra zaps.
A ½ tsp butter before out in micro, than 1/2 time says & stir, than another ½ tsp butter for final time & keep checking & stirring in b/t if want “good” scrambled eggs from a microwave “oven”, imo. Can use “any” micro safe dish, even glass measuring cup (my preference.....a 2 or 4 cup measuring cup) & don’t forget to season w/ salt (pepper if like, but needs salt) on the LAST cooking time, or the salt will change texture of eggs if used at bwggining. Tip № 3, use paper towel to coat inside of micro dish w/ oil (prefer evoo, but any will do) for helping w/ cleanup, especially if not using glass. Enjoy
This is super helpful, we found a stonewave at a thrift store and my niece told me it was useful but I didn't know what it was or how it could be used. ^^
I like the Stone Wave but when the egg is cooking the steam sometimes blows the lid off. A mug will work too but you have to put a lid over it or egg will splatter all over the inside of your oven.
steve c Yeah! That happened to me too...BUT, did you notice in the video that he poked the egg yoke really quickly when he was making the poached egg in the Stone Wave. That’s where we’ve been going wrong! LOL
Love your reviews, agree almost 100% of the time with you...and of course then there is Bailey, what a star! Must admit, I only recently found out about poaching eggs in the mw, and I do it in a wide mouthed coffee cup...and when I forget to put a fork in the yoke, yup, I end up cleaning the microwave! :) Thanks again, enjoy your reviews...Glad the kids help out...I am sure they can put a spin on it too !
I found this channel because I just parched an Eggtastic and am looking for information on it. I would prefer the stoneware that you gave, but can't find it at the store. Thanks for the great demonstrations.
I bought the Eggtastic at the Salvation Army for 99 cents. If you add some melted butter or oil spray before adding the eggs they won't stick as bad. Very hard to handle when hot, no handle. My wife uses a small Corelle saucer bowl, works great
A great demonstration! Thank you. I use the stone wave, but recently ordered the eggo cookware for $2. I make omelettes in the stone wave & they always turn out really nice.☺️
when l first saw the Stone wave pots on a RUclips clip l went out in search of one...no luck finding 0ne (Australia) this past couple of months I've now purchased 4 from Op shops and seen another 2, and all because I'd stopped looking for them...on average paid about $2 AUD second hand...now I'm trying to find recipes to cook in them...
I used stone wave to make potates and eggs. Dice up small potato in small pieces, cook fot 30 sec, add egg and some chopped onions......loved it....but it fell and broke and I need to replace it.
I put some Easy Cheese spray cheese in my scrambled eggs in the Eggtastic, and it tasted really good. So, I tried it again. This time, the lid blew off and bounced around in the microwave. Cheese was oozing out the air hole. I don’t know if I’d trust it again.
Totally late to the game. I stocked up on these stonewave when they were at the Dollar Tree. I give them to college students as they are going away, along with a book of recipes that I have tried. The kids make breakfast and dinners, and don't put on the freshman 40. These little cookers are an amazing investment, and make excellent food on the go in 5 min or less! Those other egg cookers, made better herb planters.
little tip coat each one with oil before adding and mixing the eggs also to deal with the dryness of the one egg put wet paper towel over it traps the moisture in it this was a great video review
Have used the Egg-Tastic many times, and one big difference in how I do things (which you could do for any of those) is break the eggs up with a fork when you take it out, before putting it back in. Not just turning it over but breaking it up like you're making egg salad with hard boiled eggs. The results look a lot more like what I'd expect scrambled eggs to look like. I usually do 3 eggs, which means any toppings get added after. Coffee mugs I have may not be big enough for 3 eggs. Cleaning can be annoying when you forget the Pam, for any egg cooking devices. For poached eggs, I use a Dash Rapid Egg Cooker, it lets me poach two at a time. Though I think I've poached one in a big bowl before using online directions. (The egg cooker didn't fully cook some hard boiled eggs the other day though, (I may have misjudged the amount of water) so I bought Egg Pod while buying groceries, and the review for it is what brought me here.) Don't have eggs to test it with right now, I bought it for later use. I've also tried using the bellows like egg peeler shown in the Egg Pod video, and as you said it didn't work. Putting hardboiled eggs in ice water or under cold running water I think does help make them easier to peel, even if not using one of these devices.
I recently paid $1.50 for a pair of used Stove Waves. I heat soup, leftovers, gravy ect. Chill in the freezer before adding ice cream. Never knew what they were for until now lol!
I never see you use soap when you are cleaning things. Is that because that’s how they do it in the infomercials? Or is that your usual MO? Or are you using a tiny bit and it just doesn’t look like it? I bet my giant soup mug would work as well as the stone wave. I’ve never cooked an egg in the microwave period but this is a good idea for having some eggs at work!!
I am totally CHEAP when it comes to cooking eggs in the microwave. I use a cereal bowl and a small plate to cover. For scrambled eggs I fluff with a fork after the initial cooking time and just before removing to my serving plate.
I have the eggtastic and it sucks, especially to clean, It's hot to handle. I plan on buying the stone wave because of the handle and probably easier to clean
It is AMAZING, that I’ve only heard👂 about these “Egg Microwave Cookers’” only RECENTLY (since this video is OVER 4 Years, as I write this review). Anyway, overall this was/is a VERY good 👍 demonstration video (especially going the 2nd Mile, by “Cleaning” all of the items). I only wish you would have gone a wee bit further, by cooking with the oil spray (as suggested), and also talking about the “texture” with more detail (as it looked 👀 like the texture was “weird” looking, in/from most of the samples). It also would have been nice to add some spices (salt, pepper, garlic, butter, etc.) to see 👀 [or tell] any difference that may be present, doing things the “microwave” way. Not so much a “criticism,” just a desired [further] experimentation. Guess I’ll just do/try this, my self👍
Stonewave best outta the 3. Bought one at dollar store. Lid broke at about 12" drop. Used duct tape to keep together. Works just fine. Depending on microwave times definitely different in cooking time. I cook 3 eggs scrambled in 02:55 to 03:15 in mine. 2 eggs and shredded cheese 02:45 seconds. I also scramble in a plastic cup then pour in.
Agreed, when I first got mine I began microwaving hamburger patties filled with cheddar cheese...yeah it is delicious. I only have 1 they are expensive now but I should just cough up and buy more.
Just use a 50 cent glass bowl. Microwave 30 seconds. Wait 10 seconds. Microwave 30 seconds. Done. Bowl washes in a few seconds, especially if it had a quick burst of Pam first.
how about actually soaking the eggtastic/coffee mug in water before trying to clean..might find it'll make the job of cleaning a lot easier..meanwhile, l think I'll keep an eye out in Op shops for the stoneware pots..plenty of uses for those besides eggs..
I got both the Eggtastic and Stone Wave (similar design) from op shops. The Eggtastic is now a sugar bowl because it gets too hot to handle. Still using the the Stone Wave copy. It does multiple duties as a mini casserole, soup bowl, cheese (brie/camembert) Baker and the handle stays cool. Easy to clean, too!
Since I already have a coffee cup and can also use it for coffee, I'll skip paying for a single use product. There is no additional function to it beyond what I already own. Single use products unless they offer a significant advantage are generally not going to be used because of the inconvenience of finding getting it out and cleaning it. If you already make microwave scrambled eggs frequently you probably know about using a coffee cup, so why bother with the expense and storage for the same result?
I got my eggtastic for a Dollar because my Dollar Tree had them! Brought home made some good eggs then I accidentally dropped it and broke it that same week I was sad
Comment from the future here. My wife had the eggtastic before we met. The secret for either of these methods is to nuke it for 30s at a time and give a mix at each(washing the fork or whisk after each use so it is a bit of work). I have a mini whisk that works perfect for this. when you get to where they look almost done, you give a final mix, add a pat of butter on top, and put the lid back on. After you wait a minute or two, it'll finish on it's own.
I found a Stonewave new in box at a thrift store for a couple bucks. Thank you, random person out there, who donated it. The real secret is to use a spray of "Baker's Joy" before you cook. Egg will fall right out with no residue.
I absolutely love the ASMR vibe of this video, this is definitely one of my favorite of your videos, I listen to it to fall asleep
Hah! Who needs a Dash egg cooker?! I never knew you could cook an egg this way! Too easy! Love the coffee cup!

The stonewave is also handy for warming up soup and cooking oatmeal. The flat bottom and the little chimney are perfect for that.
This video is way more peaceful than it should be.
I have used a sprayed coffee cup to cook an egg in the microwave, turns out great, no residue, and easy clean up

@@groovins9641 have you asked your coworkers how they feel about that? lol
@@Trytocookthis Oh they want to purchase one!
Gewgulkan's reply is the very best I have read on this subject!!
I just bought a stone wave at goodwill for $.49
That's the cheapest I've ever heard of for that item. Good find!
I got mine brand new at Dollar Tree for a dollar
You over paid
I got the eggtastic at a thrift store for $1.50...i thought it was a storage crock until I saw the hole in the lid. Thanks for identifying it and showing how to use it!
Man thank you for this review!! Was leaning toward stonewave and this video helped me make a good buy. They work great, I highly advocate it!!!😎

I'm glad James' taste in music has changed.
I use a vintage small Hull French casserole dish with a lid. Never a problem and it looks dressy enough to go from microwave to table.
I bought a stonewave at the thrift store for 55 cents without the lid. I epoxy 5 nickels in the bottom and use it as a lather bowl for shaving.
Great idea! Why did you epoxy nickels on the bottom?

Just curious... Did the instructions suggest that you prick the yolk with a fork before cooking? I have never had to do that.
I found this channel because I just parched an Eggtastic and am looking for information on it. I would prefer the stoneware that you gave, but can't find it at the store. Thanks for the great demonstrations.
I use a stoneware bowl that I already own. Comes out quite well. I is most likely easier to clean a bowl vs a mug-like dish..
follow the directions on how to cook using the eggtastic. The lid makes a difference on cook time
I bought the Eggtastic at the Salvation Army for 99 cents.
Thanks Sheila!
I love the scrub daddy! I have the stone wave and I really like it. Thanks dollar tree!
Just recently subrcribed. Great channel, bought a scrubby daddy today haha. The music in this video is really chill.
Thanks Matt! I've seen a lot of negative reviews for Scrub Daddy, but I like it. I may have to do a review of that sometime, too!
I love scrub daddy! And hes smiley. I hang it on my soap dispenser in the kitchen to drip dry....always greets me with a smile...lol
when l first saw the Stone wave pots on a RUclips clip l went out in search of one...no luck finding 0ne (Australia) this past couple of months I've now purchased 4 from Op shops and seen another 2, and all because I'd stopped looking for them...on average paid about $2 AUD second hand...now I'm trying to find recipes to cook in them...
The first two and a half minutes of this video are like one of those ASMR videos.
I used stone wave to make potates and eggs. Dice up small potato in small pieces, cook fot 30 sec, add egg and some chopped onions......loved it....but it fell and broke and I need to replace it.
Great reviews!!!
Keep up the good work!!
Greetings from sweden!!
Hello Sweden!!
I put some Easy Cheese spray cheese in my scrambled eggs in the Eggtastic, and it tasted really good. So, I tried it again. This time, the lid blew off and bounced around in the microwave. Cheese was oozing out the air hole. I don’t know if I’d trust it again.
I had a stonewave 5 years ago and thought it was decent but didn't use it that often and gave it away to a friend.
Awesome comparative test video! Thanks! I think I'll buy the stone wave:)
Glad you liked it. Thanks for the comment!
I just use a small Pyrex bowl. It does the trick. Just a couple of quid
hey were is the butter???
Where*
Stone wave is great. I use it a lot to reheat rice and beans and comes out perfect.
Have you tried the eggwhich
Have you tried the Sistema Microwave egg cooker?
Eggtastic needs to have a better covering to make it easier to remove when hot. I love my stone wave.
A handle would be nice.
Just saw another microwave egg cooker this morning, forgot the name of it now but it looks like a giant egg. I'm intrigued with it,can you review it ?
These cookers are also great for making oatmeal.
I bought the Eggtastic one on clearance for $1 and haven’t used it yet but might after seeing this.
I am totally CHEAP when it comes to cooking eggs in the microwave. I use a cereal bowl and a small plate to cover. For scrambled eggs I fluff with a fork after the initial cooking time and just before removing to my serving plate.
As long as you're getting results, cheap is great!
I think the stone wave would be easier to clean but I’d line it with butter or oil first
Those scrub daddy sponges are the best!
I have the eggtastic and it sucks, especially to clean, It's hot to handle. I plan on buying the stone wave because of the handle and probably easier to clean
I would let mine soak a little. Thanks for ur review. I'm going to try my stone wave. Got it at a thrift store for $3.
Thanks
The Stone Wave isn't just for cooking eggs you can cook a cake in it as well if I remember correctly.
I use a small glass bowl or my glass measuring cup with no lid..
I like the stone wave but I wish it was a lil bigger for cooking single serving canned food
I use eggs tactic, very good, my opinions
Guess I’ll just do/try this, my self👍
have you ever reviewed the rollie egg cooker omg its too funny
Stonewave best outta the 3.
Bought one at dollar store. Lid broke at about 12" drop. Used duct tape to keep together. Works just fine.
Depending on microwave times definitely different in cooking time. I cook 3 eggs scrambled in 02:55 to 03:15 in mine. 2 eggs and shredded cheese 02:45 seconds. I also scramble in a plastic cup then pour in.
Perfect timing on a microwave would be 1:15 if you put stuff in your eggs need to cook about 1:35
Found this at a thrift store now I know what it it thank you
He didn't read the poaching recipe correctly. Only 1/4 tsp. of water, that is why it didn't turn out. What a Ackasjay!
I love Stone Wave. Makes great hamburger in 2 1/2 minutes and that is 97% lean.
Agreed, when I first got mine I began microwaving hamburger patties filled with cheddar cheese...yeah it is delicious. I only have 1 they are expensive now but I should just cough up and buy more.
I bet a bottle brush would be good for cleaning the eggtastic
I did the same thing in a cheap throw away plastic bowls from Walmart.
that stone wave looks like an onion soup crock.
Is it Stone wave,or Stone ware?
The official name is Stone Wave Microwave Cooker.
Good channel just subscribe yesterday, hi from Puerto Rico
Hi Millie! I love Puerto Rico, by the way. I've been there a couple of times. I really loved Rincon. Thanks for the sub and the comment!
If I ate that many eggs, my cholesterol numbers would be in lunar orbit!!! 🥚🚀
Just use a 50 cent glass bowl. Microwave 30 seconds. Wait 10 seconds. Microwave 30 seconds. Done. Bowl washes in a few seconds, especially if it had a quick burst of Pam first.
The Eggtastic works really well... as a pen holder.
how about actually soaking the eggtastic/coffee mug in water before trying to clean..might find it'll make the job of cleaning a lot easier..meanwhile, l think I'll keep an eye out in Op shops for the stoneware pots..plenty of uses for those besides eggs..
The stone one looks like a Mexican hat. Lol
i would not put the eggs back at 1:00 i like mine a little runny
