I was taught years ago that egg yolks would burst in a microwave unless they were pierced first! What a relief to see that’s not true. I only recently discovered this channel and am learning a lot. Thanks.
Thank you Nancy, for your feedback The reason the yolk doesn't blow up in the microwave it's because it's not in long enough. Think about the way popcorn pops in a microwave. The moisture inside the popcorn kernel is heated from a liquid to a gas. When the gas is sufficient (steam) it causes the kernel to explode. If you put the popcorn in the microwave for only 40 seconds and took it out it wouldn't have enough time to create pressure to cause the explosion. And that's the reason the egg doesn't explode. It's because there's not enough time to build up the pressure. I appreciate the thumbs up, Mike
@@KitchenTipsOnline can you tell me how long poached eggs would need to be in the microwave for it to blow up? Did you hear about the woman who was hospitalized because the egg exploded after she took it out of the microwave?

I'm grateful for your support and kind words! It's important to note that egg yolks can indeed explode in microwave ovens given enough time. I do eggs in a microwave all the time. I spray oil in a small bowl and beat an egg in it. 1 min. For 1 egg. 2 min. For 2 eggs. The eggs come out round and I put on bagel with a piece of sausage and cheese for my husband to take to work.
That's a great way to do it! [Spraying oil and beating the egg] definitely helps the eggs cook evenly and come out nice and round. One minute per egg sounds perfect. I use a desert dish. First I coat the bottom and sides generously with margarine then add three eggs and whip up with a fork. Place in a 1200 watt microwave for 30 seconds, remove and stir. Put back for another 20 seconds, remove and stir. Put back in for 15 seconds and stir again. If you want them done a bit more maybe another ten seconds. Tastes great every time. Sometimes I add diced ham or sausage.
Thank you for your comment! 😊 Corned Beef Hash and Scrapple are both classic breakfast staples with rich histories and unique flavors. Corned Beef Hash is a delicious combination of corned beef, potatoes, and onions, all fried together to create a savory and hearty dish. It’s a great way to use up leftover corned beef and can be enjoyed with eggs or on its own. Scrapple, on the other hand, is a traditional dish from the Pennsylvania Dutch, made from pork scraps and cornmeal, seasoned with spices, and then fried to crispy perfection. It’s a bit of an acquired taste for some, but many find it to be a comforting and flavorful addition to their breakfast plate. Both of these dishes definitely make for fabulous breakfast tucker! 🥓🍳 Maybe I’ll do a video on them in the future. Thanks for the suggestion, Mike 🧔

Yes, MORE TOBY! I had no idea that microwaves lost power over time but why popcorn Mike? I was trying to figure out how the heck you got a camera to work in there, but all I can come up with is it's wrapped in something. GREAT video Mike..
John Lemons, Okay John more Toby! Sorry I cannot reveal my secret unless somebody figures it out. For the record, the camera was not wrapped in anything, it was a GoPro camera sitting directly on the glass plate. By the way, the reason that popcorn is rough on microwaves is that as the popcorn cooks, the load diminishes because the moisture inside the popcorn turns to steam and gets vented out of the microwave. Everyone knows you should never operate a microwave with nothing in it. However by the time the popcorn is finished cooking, there's very little load left and that causes the magnetron to heat up resulting in premature death. That's why you should never try to pop every kernel of popcorn. When the kernel cracks from the manufacturing process, the moisture dries up and it will never ever expand and turn into popcorn. Mike ☺
Angie Dobson, Thanks! I appreciate your feedback. I will put you down for a Toby yes vote. Believe me, he's keeping track of every single one of them, haha. Mike ☺

Of course I want to see more of Toby! I love sunny side up eggs so I was delighted to see this video. I can’t wait to see your poached eggs video because I love those too.
If your not making bacon can you use pam to spray your dish with a little water for sunny side eggs? Do you have to pop the yolks (two) before microwaving for one minute with cover?
Thanks for the tip about making bacon using pam. If you cook two eggs in the microwave you'll probably get away without breaking the yolks. Just to be safe make sure the eggs are covered. Mike 🧔
Brilliant yet again Toby x Mike in that order 😃Lol! As for the camera in a microwave ....do you add salt x pepper to that before cooking ?😲 Well done Mike on a simple put oh so easy and .....why didn't I do that before moment 👍👌

Hi MIKE , thoroughly enjoyed ur video ...I wayched it 3 times & nowhere could i find any Power Settings for cooking the 3 scrambled eggs , coz the amounts of times you stated seemed to be too much at a full power setting even for a smaller liwer power microwave ...And the same for the Veggies & the Bacon ... Power settings would be real helpfull BEFORE I attempt to blow up my breakfast , LOL...🥚🥚🥚🍳🍳🍳🌶🌶🌶🥓🥓🥓
Hi Arthur, thanks for checking out my video! I'm really glad you liked it. In the video, all the cooking was done using the highest microwave setting, which is 1100 watts on my microwave. How long you should cook your eggs depends on your microwave's power and the number of eggs you're cooking-whether it's two, three, or more. What I suggest is that you cook them on high power, but make sure to pay attention to how long it takes for the eggs to cook just the way you like them. If you're making three scrambled eggs, I'd recommend starting with 2 minutes as a baseline and adjusting from there to get the perfect result. Mike 🧔
@@KitchenTipsOnline I will give it a shot , mine is a medium sized microwave & so far anything over a minute the eggs would blow up , whether poaching , steaming , or scrambling in one of those earthen egg cookers with the lid with a little chimney on top that has me add a teaspoon of water to it , even if they're not done I have to add short times to finish but over a minute always ends with me cleaning my microwave .... BUT , I will give your method a try , THANKS for sharing & for Responding to my questions ...They did look very good ...Actually I do like soft scrambled eggs too & that putting them in the middle then stirring them together & giving them just a few more seconds I believe would make them come out Soft Scrambled , seems like I have a little experimenting to do...👍👍👍👋👋👋
Yeah unfortunately my little buddy Toby the dog in the video had to be put down. He had major liver issues. Thanks for your feedback. But you're not likely to see a cat anytime soon, haha, Mike 👍🧔
Just found your channel tonight... wow I'm watching a lot of your vids! Camera in the microwave... you used a microwave with a magnetron that didn't work but working light and turntable. The food was cooked in another microwave and put in uncooked then cooked in the one with the non-working magnetron.
Well I appreciate you watching lots of videos so I will tell you exactly how I did the camera in the microwave. I put a switch on the 120 volt side of the transformer that powers the magnetron. I installed the switch coming through the cover of the microwave at the top so I could turn off power to the transformer, thereby turning off power to the magnetron. As far as the lights, that was done post-production using a lens flare and Adobe Premiere. So there you have it!
@@KitchenTipsOnline I'm thinking you would just set the power level to zero, and then after 10 seconds or so of recording, just remove the camera, and then cook at the correct proper level. Then no need for going through hassle to install a switch??
I thought that was Mark Hamill looking into the microwave/camera at first 👍🏻 Thanks for the helpful cooking tips, including the bottle trick!🙂 More of Toby for sure 🐶
Great video about cooking eggs, Mike! Yes please keep Toby in your videos as he is a Dora Ball. How would I make hard cooked eggs instead of sunny side up eggs in the microwave? ♥️♥️♥️
Gaila Gilliland, Thanks for the kind words and your feedback. Toby's getting a lot of love so it looks like he's going to be in future videos, haha. As far as making the eggs more firm in the microwave, all you need to do is set the timer on the microwave for just a little bit more time. You will have to test your particular microwave to determine how long that is. With my microwave, it would only be about 20 seconds longer. Mike ☺
Shelly you are absolutely correct the wattage of the microwave has a big effect on how long something Cooks. The microwave I used in the video is 1000 watts. I sold it when I sold that house. Here is the equivalent microwave on Amazon if you want to check it out. Mike amzn.to/3UCIYKH
Humorous bit is Toby is basically the spitting image of my dog Lol Recipes pretty good as well. Though you don't need special microwave covers. There is a reason they invented saucers.
1982 I worked at a deli when microwaves were getting popular. We would place an egg in a plastic bucket, break the yoke to make/sell egg sandwiches. Scrambled also. yuck. Of course back then, major cold cut distributers sold breaded tuna, egg, chicken and shrimp salad and our customers really didin't know the difference.
Scrolls down through the comments and you will see I have answered your question a couple of times. I think you'll find it's actually pretty easy, Mike 🧔

Ah, I think I see the issue here! My grandmother always told me the trick is to use medium-sized chickens and small eggs for the best results. She used to say that large chickens have too much leg room, and the eggs get distracted while trying to cook. Try switching to a medium chicken, and those eggs will be sizzling in no time! Mike 🧔
Hey Mike, As always an awesome great video. With great cooking tips. Thank you for sharing it. Yes, I want to see more of Toby. How could anyone not like Toby? Many thumbs up on your video & channel. I hope you and your family and Toby have a Blessed Week.
Thanks Tom, I will let Toby know what you said. The reason I question whether or not to include Toby in videos is because I usually include him near the end of a video and noticed that 60% of the people stop watching the video just before Toby. Once again, thanks for your kind words. Mike ☺
What power is your microwave? I glad you shared that microwave'd lose their power over time. I know the best one is a 1100 watt. Mine is only 900 do I have to cook things longer. Having said that it probably isn't even ,900 now b/c I've had it do long. Please advise. Thank You! Much appreciated!
My microwave is 1100 Watts. If you do a Google search you can find a method to test the current output of any microwave. I'm not sure of the exact procedure but I know it involves measuring the temperature of an exact amount of water before you start. Heating it for specific about a time and then measuring the temperature at the end of the time interval. That will give you an estimated current output of your microwave magnetron, Mike 🧔
The microwave was moving and the dish stayed in the same place.... this must be what an LSD flashback is like lol I really like this technique using the pie plate for the scrambled eggs and the bacon. And how in the world can a GoPro survive in the microwave without getting fried? I thought you’d couldn’t put anything metallic in the microwave. More Toby! Much appreciate you.
Thanks Paul, I appreciate the kind words. Mike 🧔
I wish you had skiced into the sunny side up eggs, as I would have liked to see if the yolks were soft. I will just have to try it and see! Thanks!
I agree with you, slicing into the egg would have been cool, but it wouldn't stay in place long enough to film it. Thanks! 🧔
Love seeing Toby
Thanks Nancy I appreciate it. Unfortunately Toby had liver issues and passed away in the spring of this year. I think about him every day. He was my little buddy, Mike 🧔
Love microwave recipes
Thanks 🧔
Toby is like a walking cartoon! Love the video!
Yes Toby is a hoot! Thank you for the feedback, Mike 🙂
Well of course we Love Toby 💙
Michelle Mcbride, I will tell Toby that you're a fan, ☺
Of course I want to see more of Toby! I love sunny side up eggs so I was delighted to see this video. I can’t wait to see your poached eggs video because I love those too.
Dori, Thanks for the kind words. More Toby it is the. Mike ☺
Toby is adorable. I love seeing him! My son too, who loves your videos!
Thanks Amy, for taking the time to leave feedback! I appreciate it, Mike 🙂
As for the camera in a microwave ....do you add salt x pepper to that before cooking ?😲
Well done Mike on a simple put oh so easy and .....why didn't I do that before moment 👍👌
Bridget Salter, So I'm guessing you're a Tobe fan? Haha! ♥ Once again, thank you for the feedback and the kind words. It's always a pleasure to hear from you. Mike ☺
Love Toby!!! ❤️
I will tell Toby that you are a fan, Mike 🙂
BUT , I will give your method a try , THANKS for sharing & for Responding to my questions ...They did look very good ...Actually I do like soft scrambled eggs too & that putting them in the middle then stirring them together & giving them just a few more seconds I believe would make them come out Soft Scrambled , seems like I have a little experimenting to do...👍👍👍👋👋👋
Keep Toby, he is so cute😊💕
Thanks I will tell Toby what you said, Mike 🧓
Fewer dogs, more cats! Seriously, though, this is great - I plan to give the scrambled eggs a try soon!
I thought that was Mark Hamill looking into the microwave/camera at first 👍🏻
Thanks for the helpful cooking tips, including the bottle trick!🙂
More of Toby for sure 🐶
Perhaps it was Mark Hamill, haha. I will tell Toby that you are a fan! Thank you for the feedback, Mike 🙂
I love seeing Toby!!
Thanks 🧔
Thanks!!!! 🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚😊😊😊😊😊
I appreciate the feedback! Mike 🧔
Mike ☺
Awesome :) I think I will try this to make canadian bacon/ham and eggs.
Okay Lauren, when you make you're Canadian ham and eggs, please come back and let me know how it turns out, Mike 🙂
Oh yes, more Toby.
Marilyn McClintock, Thanks, Toby seems to have a lot of fans. ☺ Mike
Nice montage , trippy
Thanks 🧔
How many watts ypur microwave cools at must have an effect on cook time too.
Shelly you are absolutely correct the wattage of the microwave has a big effect on how long something Cooks. The microwave I used in the video is 1000 watts. I sold it when I sold that house. Here is the equivalent microwave on Amazon if you want to check it out. Mike

Oh yeah, the good old days when microwave ovens were considered to be the best thing since sliced bread. Thanks for your feedback, Mike 🧔
Hi.
Pls, How to put camera in microwave?
Scrolls down through the comments and you will see I have answered your question a couple of times. I think you'll find it's actually pretty easy, Mike 🧔
More TOBY!!!! YAY!!!!!
David Harrington, thanks for your feedback, I will tell Toby that you are a fan. He makes an appearance in our video about air fryers. I will include the link in case you have not seen the video, Mike ☺ ruclips.net/video/2ypfmtGN0Ro/видео.html
No links for anything you described. What's up with that?
You are correct my friend I am definitely going to look into that! I appreciate the heads up. Here is the link that should have been there. Thanks, Mike 🧔 amzn.to/4a9gWMc
Could not find the chopper in the link. I liked your's because it was small.
Unfortunately the exact one that I have is no longer available but the replacement from what appears to be the same company it's just a little bit bigger. I moved it to the top of the store for you. I appreciate your support! 😀 Here is the link, Mike 🧔 amzn.to/3uSTpjl
Amazing
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.🧔
To by or not To by? That is the question. Yes, definitively more TOBY in your show.
Okay thanks I will tell him that you are a fan. 😊
thank you for this i been putting eggs inside a large chicken with it's legs standing up and just waiting for the eggs to cook
Mike ☺
I love Toby 😭
Marilena Barrera, ha ha, thanks, I will tell Toby that you are a fan. Mike ☺
The sunny side eggs up look delicious. I wish you had cut them so we could see the runny yolk.
Thanks for the kind words. Yes I agree with you it would have been a better demonstration had I cut the yolk. Mike 🧔
Love sweet Toby!!!!
Thanks Karen I will tell Toby that you are a fan! Mike 🙂
I love Toby!
Cindy Thomas, I will pass the word on to Toby that you are a fan! Thanks for your feedback, Mike ☺
MORE TOBY!!! 🐕💕😊💕🐕😊🐕
Renette Hicks, more Toby it is! Thanks for your feedback. I will tell Toby that you are a fan. Mike ☺
This guy is obviously some kind of wizard or man witch.. I can't stop watching.. Help me.. please..
Well that's better than what my former spouse used to call me! 🤪
More Toby 👍👍👍
Jimmy Reuben, Now I know, Toby has a lot of fans. Thanks for your feedback. Mike
Im in a motel, appreciate this!
You're welcome! Appreciate the feedback, Mike 🧔
Toby is the best!!!¡!!
Thanks 🧔
What I wanted as tutorial material, great job and thanks...
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the feedback, Mike 🧔
The microwave was moving and the dish stayed in the same place.... this must be what an LSD flashback is like lol I really like this technique using the pie plate for the scrambled eggs and the bacon. I like my fried eggs crispy on the bottom but this will work for hubby who does not. All these TIPS help tremendously. Oh and that adorable Toby? OF COURSE we want to see him. There's STAR POWER written all over that pooch. :o)
Tonithenightowl, Haha, I think you must be channeling Timothy Leary. Thank you so much for the kind words and your feedback. Toby seems to be getting a lot of love so it is very likely that you will be seeing him in future videos. Also please tell your friends about our Channel! Still working on poached eggs and an omelet in the microwave. Mike ☺
Mike, you're welcomed and I'm sure you'll figure it out. That's why people should sub AND ring the bell.:o)
Thanks ☺
awesome dude
Thanks! 🧔👍
This is good to know if you don't have a cook top and a skillet or wash your own dishes.
Thanks! I appreciate your feedback I just uploaded another video that you may find very useful. I invite you to check it out, Mike 🧔 ruclips.net/video/m1h5BLilVuk/видео.html
Toby is so cute🐶
Tina Fields, Thanks, I will tell him, Mike ☺
Lovin’ Toby
Okay I will tell him you are a fan! Mike 🙂
I love your voice!
Well, thank you so much! 😄 I always thought my voice was a bit like a mix between a friendly neighbor who's always ready for a chat and a voice in your head that encourages you to eat that extra slice of pizza, even when you know you probably shouldn't! But seriously, I'm thrilled you love my voice. Keep watching, and I'll keep talking! Mike 🧔 🎤😉
I wonder what power the microwave that Mike is using? Is it a 800w or 900w etc.?
It's actually 1100 watts. But keep in mind that as microwaves get older, their power diminishes. Especially if you cook a lot of popcorn. Mike 🧔
@@KitchenTipsOnline Thanks Mike, I use a 800w microwave (23 years old). What percentage of time should I increase to obtain the results shown in your video? You see I have been watching other egg cooking videos and never obtain the results in the times stated.
There are too many variables for me to be able to give you a specific time. You will simply have to experiment and see how it goes, Mike
@@KitchenTipsOnline Thanks Mike, I did not think that one could pin a time down, but nevertheless I thought that I would air the point!
Ok well try this out thanks
You're welcome. I hope you have the perfect potato, Mike 🧔👍
Next up, I’m gonna show you how you cook your phone in the microwave!!!
-ENTIRE MICROWAVE EXPLODES😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I absolutely love, love, love your voice! I need Toby!! Just wanna snuggle with him 🤗
You're very kind! I will tell Toby that you are a fan. Thank you very much for the feedback, Mike 🙂
