    I love this method, and it works great. And as for the potato skins, of course you eat them. Some (including me) think they are the best part. One minor difference is that instead of rubbing the skin with regular butter, I use a combination of herbed butter and bacon grease.

    Excellent method for doing baked potatoes in the microwave. We did 2 medium-sized taters last night and they came out perfect. Cooked both at the same time using the following modifications: the 2 cook times were 4 min each based on 2 taters in a 1000 watt microwave oven...used regular table salt, not having Kosher or sea salt. Absolutely flawless, taters were tasty, moist, cut open easily and absorbed butter and salt flavor so they didn't need more. We'll use this method unless something better comes along but I don't see that happening.

    I love baked potatoes from the microwave. I purchased a dish designed for this purpose years ago and have never had any issues with the skin getting dry. My other favorite microwave thing to do is scrambled eggs for a sandwich. A supervisor years ago taught me this little trick, and it's the best. It was a pleasure watching your video, and I look forward to seeing more.

      OneMoreSOB, Thank you for your feedback and the kind words. I think the reason that other RUclips creators leave out the details is because most viewers have the patience of a jackrabbit on a date. People demand free information and want it NOW! For example, I have a video on how to store bananas for 15 to 20 days. In the video I felt it was necessary to demonstrate visual proof every single day that the process actually works. Over 50% of the people who start the video bail early and never see how it actually works. Here's the link if you want to check it out, Mike ☺ruclips.net/video/12R_3aUxl7s/видео.html

    Another great video. Thank you. Will share on my social nets. It appeared when you inserted the temp probe you were not putting it into the very center of the potato, but rather keeping the tip within 1/2 of the surface. Am I correct about that? Thanks.

      @KitchenTipsOnline  5 лет назад +1

      Ron Tiemens, thanks for the kind words, and thanks for sharing the video. I will have to go back and review the video to see how far I inserted it, but it was my intention to inserted halfway into the potato. It doesn't do any good to know if the outer portion is at temperature if the center of the potato is not. Thanks for your feedback, Mike ☺

    Great video. How I bake my sweet potatoes in microwave. I rinse off two sweet potatoes. Dry them off with paper towel or what you have available. I put some holes on both sides thn I rub with olive oil. I will put potatoes on a plate covered it with microwave top. I do not know how long it takes. Just ck to see if its soft on both sides. If it is potatoes are ready go. They are so good with sugar butter and cinnamon. No more hot oven. ps It works with white potatoes too

    Salt comes as small grain and course grain. Including sea salt versions. What makes it "kosher" is a rabbi blessed it, no kidding. So any course salt would work. Interesting recipe tho.

    • @watermelonlalala
      @watermelonlalala 5 лет назад

      Coarse salt. We pay a kosher tax so a rabbi can bless every item in the store, anyway, it's all kosher.

    • @lenore2641
      @lenore2641 4 года назад +1

      This is way late but I wanted to correct this. Kosher salt is called such because kosher butchers use the coarse grains to draw the blood out of meat (a meat requirement in kosher law). Not because it is blessed, although that may also incidentally be the case.

  • @derekcardwell7474
    @derekcardwell7474 2 года назад

    Good tasting, moist potato. Will do again, with a couple modifications.
    Replaced the regular plate with paper after about a minute because it started to vibrate(not merely burp) hard enough I thought it would break. Then after another minute I took the fork to each side a couple times because the potato itself began jumping hard enough I thought it would break the bowl if it didn't explode first.
    All good after those initial scares.
